We spoke with the manager and she told us that they do all kinds of events from small groups like ours to larger events like baby showers and small weddings. My husband began his meal with their French onion soup. He said it was excellent. Our friends and I enjoyed our dinner salads of lettuce, grape tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. I do wish that more dressing had been provided, but alas it only came with a small cup. The chicken on the other hand was just okay. It was warm and moist, but it appeared to be prepared chicken breast portions as we had four salads (all of which had chicken) and all 16 of the chicken portions looked identical. Had it been fresh chicken, I would have given it a fifth star. Nonetheless, it was a great salad, and worth the price. Hopefully I can actually go here someday and see what the restaurant it like.

This is fine dining with a neighborhood vibe- the perfect combination in my world. A great dining experience is mostly about the food, and the food at Chez Mike does not disappoint. A seasonally-varied menu featuring locally-sourced items, with a couple of carefully chosen specials each night isput out by a chef who above all loves to cook. I'm particularly taken with anything braised on the menu. Anything! it will come out tasty and tender and with a delicious sauce. Seafood dishes are also especially creative and tasty. And any and all dietary restrictions are thoughtfully accomodated, even if it means anre off-menu detour needs to be taken. The beverage menu is compact, but ever so carefully put together. Creative cocktails, a small but solid wine list and a handful of quality local brews. No need for more. We don't often do dessert, but when we do there are tasty items like homemade ice cream and creme brulee and seasonal bread pudding varieties that do the trick nicely. Everyone raves aboutr the baguette and the kalamata butter. I can but agree! Great food is best served by a great staff, and the crew at Chez Mike is evidence. Mike occasionally tosses something out on social media, and one of his regular comments is "I've got the best people". He does, and he trains them well, and respects them, and they in turn provide skillful and knowkedgeable service with a warm and friendly touch. If you're not sure on something, ask. She said the Seafood Chowder, which is offered as an entree, is so good that it never comes off the menu. Well, that was all I needed to hear. I make my own chowder, Cioppino and bouillabaisse. I always make red soup for health reasons, never white, which is generally richer because of the cream. I wondered if charging $37 for a big bowl of chowder was pricey but when it arrived it was delicious. To me, it was wonderfully decadent. The were several freshly cooked clams, shrimp, scallops and a fairly large and tender portion of white fish. Of course, as usual, I only managed to eat half. So there was enough left over for another meal. I was so full. Part of the reason is that Chez Mike serves the most awesome warm crusty bread and herb butter. The bread was perfect for dipping into the chowder but I had to resist the urge to eat more than two slices of bread since I'm diabetic. It was a weekday. The restaurant started filling up by 6:30pm. According to the server, many customers were walk-ins. Based on the familiarity with the hostess, it seemed that many were repeat customers. But honestly, I wasn't surprised--the restaurant was packed and it seemed like every table was enjoying those $1 oysters! Our server was very sweet , although the service was a little slow. Before we ordered, the server mentioned that the chefs really know what they're doing--and we 100% agreed after eating. The food was amazing, but what really stood out was the atmosphere. It felt like a place full of regulars, with a very warm and welcoming vibe. The staff seemed genuinely relaxed and happy, and there was a lot of friendly interaction and joking between employees and customers, which I really loved.
