He went above and beyond with his service--attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great meal. Every recommendation he made was spot on. You can tell he really knows the menu and takes pride in what he does. We ordered the chicken plate, and it was absolutely delicious--perfectly cooked, flavorful, and one of those meals you keep talking about afterward. Between the incredible food and Alfred's exceptional service, this was easily one of the highlights of our time at Tamarack. They have an empty restaurant at 4:30 and won't let you in. We watched so many people get turned away but we sat in the restaurant by ourselves from 4:30-5:45. It's a quiet, fine dining restaurant. Limited number of tables so book early if you want to go. Small bar to sit at. They have a kids menu with mac n cheese, chicken tenders, steak or butter noodles. Coke products. Very nicely done restaurant at Tamarack. The cozy ambiance certainly sets the mood. We ate here several nights during our stay and we didn't have one bad experience. The staff are very welcoming and attentive, and all very friendly. The are willing to accommodate some custom requests and didn't make a big deal out of it which we certainly appreciated. The Paella was exceptional and a quite large portion even for the 2 people the menu states it serves. The elk tenderloin and chicken marsala were very good as well. The bartender even whipped up some off menu mocktails which were perfectly done. Worth a visit for sure if in the tamarack area. read more

Beautiful restaurant and wonderful service. I would have given it a 5 star review but they were out of a few main dishes. I would have liked to have ordered the wild boar but they were out of pasta. Honestly, I believe I had the second best thing on the menu, the seared scallops that were perfectly done accompanied by a spinach risotto. Excellent!! This place lets off an upscale vibe. It's got a beautiful interior, small but bustling bar area, candles lit on the table were a nice touch. We want this place to do well but this review is out of a concern that someone is actually going to get really sick and possibly die eating the food here. All 3 of our halibut dishes were over cooked and our two shrimp tortellini dishes (which were actually served with regular spaghetti) both contained undercooked shrimp. It took a bit to noticed there were pink and gray shrimp in this pasta because of the sauce covering them, but once we realized it, we immediately stopped eating the dish and went to go get the manager. She could see some pink and some gray shrimp, apologized, and took both dishes back to the chefs to show them. A few minutes later, she came back and said, "the chefs assured me the shrimp are cooked". I wanted to be assured, trust me , I did, but how could that be the case? Do the chefs at this establishment not know shrimp start out gray and turn pink when fully cooked? Please someone tell me I'm wrong about shrimp needing to be pink and that they were different colors because some were cooked medium and others well done!! What I have since learned is that a food handlers permit is NOT required for all employees in Idaho restaurants. Only ONE employee at each shift is required to have one. This is even more alarming because if the manager (who was young) didn't know and the chefs didn't know - who even had the permit that night? And what's the absolute worst than not knowing is lying about it! Our bill was over $600 that night. Praying we don't have a doctor bill on top of that now. Things they got right? Drinks and desserts were good and all the dishes are well thought out - they were well layered - just were not well prepared the night we came. Friendly staff and nice ambiance. read more

Omg!! They need Gordon Ramsey to save them!! First- Ceasar salad- lettuce was brown and red -old. After picking through it, I waved down the server who also noted the aged salad and it was taken off of the bill. A replacement was not offered. Second- ordered king salmon and a filet. Waited over 45 minutes to find that there is no king salmon. Supervisor was very nice offered 2 sides for the inconvenience. We ordered a cauliflower risotto to replace the salmon, Brussels sprouts and asparagus. Waited another 15/20. Steak was plopped in the middle of plate - no garnish.. nada... just a pale piece of meat. Cauliflower "risotto" had no risotto in it at all? Just undercooked cauliflower with a few raisins and pepper in a bowl.. no seasoning except the pepper. No presentation..Brussels sprouts were burned beyond recognition- the size of dimes. I get crisp edges but these little guys were burnt beyond repair. Asparagus was weird- had some creamy cheese that did not meld with asparagus.. Maybe they have someone new in the kitchen? Hopefully they will get their "kitchen footing" and fast... too bad. We were really looking forward to it. :( read more

Shocking how inconsistent this restaurant is. My wife and I had a very good dinner this weekend. Food, wine, service were all very solid. It was so good we decided to enjoy brunch the next day. Unfortunately, our expectations were pretty high and brunch did not deliver. Service was much less attentive and everything took a long time to come out. When it did come, the frittata was raw in center and sitting in pool of liquid. Trout platter presentation was not as described on menu. Supervisor that came to help was immediately defensive instead of hospitable. She tried to explain away the issues instead of simply taking ownership and showing any sincere concern. Food was eventually fixed but it was not a meal we could enjoy together. For a $85 brunch (no alcohol) it was incredibly disappointing. Chef was on site Saturday night with and everything was great. No chef on site Sunday and everything was a mess . Coincidence? Next time, we'll stick to more casual outlets. Lower expectations may be better read more

Had lunch here when we arrived at tamarack. We were all starving and didn't have high expectation for a restaurant right at the resort in the off season. Boy were we wrong. The fish and chips were REALLY good. Filling, generous portions, good fries, tasty tartar sauce, and the beer batter was great. The chicken sandwich got rave reviews at our table as did the cocktails. The coke and Diet Coke was even top notch. It was an overall unanimous win from everyone. Highly recommended. Where to begin... how about the good first. Our server, Vicky, was a gem. Incredible sweet and attentive. If it wasn't for her the entire night would have been a bust. She was great! Now for the rest... ironically the entire decor is based on the night sky and the constellations. They'll tell you this if it's your first time. So you would expect the ambiance to be moody and somewhat dark to reflect the night sky. Nope, the restaurant is fairly bright and our table had a bright light blasting down on us. We asked if they could dim it but nothing was done. They should probably skip the whole night sky ambiance speech-they totally missed the mark. As for food, there were 5 of us and we all ordered different items from the menu. I ordered the salmon, it was beautifully presented but minimal. You definitely don't get a lot of food. My salmon was raw in the middle. I showed the rest of the table and they all agreed. I don't like sending stuff back but decided to send it back. The manager came by shortly after and said "I'm so sorry it wasn't prepared to your liking", which I responded " you mean COOKED?". To be clear I wasn't asked how I wanted it prepared. I was not given an option. I felt he was extremely condescending. So now I didn't have a meal and was not feeling great about how it was handled. Everyone finished their meals and I finally got my meal and ate after everyone was done. Again not ideal. At this point I would expect them to bend over backwards to make it right. Our server offered her personal employee discount on my meal which was extremely kind but this is the managers job! He should have done something. He did nothing! For the caliber of restaurant they are trying to achieve, their customer service is severely lacking. Out of the 5 of us only one of us said their meal was really good-it was a salad with chicken. The ribeye was "pretty good". The others had a mediocre experience with their meals. We had the crème brûlée and the chocolate ricotta with ice cream and both were delicious. Choose wisely with this one. It's expensive and not worth it in my opinion. There are several other restaurants to choose from in the Tamarck area. I will not be going back. read more

The Reserve was one of two places open for dinner in the village at Tamarack, so we decided to give it a try. They were extremely accommodating with moving tables together for us for a larger group. The menu was not too extensive, but was definitely expensive. The food was good but not amazing and we probably waited about a minimum of 45 minutes for our meals. Our server was great at making sure we knew hey didn't forget about us. She filled our waters and checked in a lot, which was appreciated. Calamari was very good with little banana peppers and tomatoes in the dish. I got the burger on night 2 and it was good but just an average burger. Veggie pasta of the day was also good but they ran out of noodles. Would recommend checking this place out while staying at Tamarack! Service was quick and attentive. Tamarack Village has The Reserve as it's only "fine" dining restaurant for dinner at the moment. The location in the Village is awesome! The bar and outdoor patio provide great views and a great ambiance. Cocktails and spirits are a plenty here....you should find something you like to drink. Upon entering the restaurant the staff were very friendly. The decor was dark woods and stylish lighting. The restaurant was and looked very clean. Seating is not as vast as I would have expected given the only restaurant in the Village. **Tip - make a reservation!!** For dinner we started with the hummus plate. The hummus was flavored with red peppers and accompanied with olives, cucumbers, and pitas. We are not a big fan of deep frying pita bread and wished they did not. Other than the pita, everything else was good. Our entrees were the Spanish Roasted Chicken and the Little Salad with Grilled Brie. The salad was fine. Nothing outstanding....actually was bigger than we expected. The Brie was great!! The jam and apples were a fantastic addition. Highly recommend this plate. Finally we had the Roasted Chicken. Unfortunately the chicken was very dry. The meat did fall off the bone, but no moisture. The flavor was fine. The potatoes that accompanied the chicken was very good. The vegetables were overcooked and dry. Overall the Reserve was ok as the small plates were better than our one entree. We will be back given its the only place in the Village. We ordered salmon special that was served with only sliced zucchini and grape tomatoes with skin side up that looked as if it had been steamed, so unappealing and unappetizing. They were out of smashed potatoes, in Idaho?? No seating at the bar, only 8 seats. Tamarack needs to step it up quite a few notches to compare to other resorts especially for the home prices here. The food was actually pretty good if served hot. We went in for a late lunch last week. We made a reservation and when we got there, there was no one at the front to great us. Finally after getting seated we put in a cocktail order and a couple appetizers. We were seated so we could see the kitchen, we saw our nachos pop up in the window pretty quickly, there was a server back there but she ignored the food. By the time our drinks were finally served about 5 min later, our server went back to the bar to stand around and chat with a coworker. When our other appetizer was ready another sever brought the food over. The bison nachos that had been sitting in the window for over 10 min were cold, the cheese was hard. When our server came to check in, I asked her if there were supposed to be served cold and she said no and had them promptly remade. After we got them back fresh, they are actually an incredible dish. I'm not sure if that is their normal process to wait for all appetizers to be ready to serve together, but I would highly suggest asking them to bring them as soon as they are ready. I could understand if they were packed but we were one of 3 tables. After that our service got exponentially better. The food was quite tasty. The cheesesteak was one of the best sandwiches. And the bruschetta was delicious. read more
