Customer service for existing clients seems to have changed dramatically since our visits last year. Phone conversations regarding care, urgent needs, and scheduling seem to be met with unprofessional, aggressive responses. When you are a cash pay patient, fully able to pay, and have fully paid up-front in former visits, there is a second tier response, met with suspicion. The front desk and/scheduling used to have kind, compassionate, and patient individuals working with diverse populations, including my adult son with cognitive disorders. The last phone call, they let him/us know they do not wish to have us for clients. It is very strange to have such aggressive staff. Had a great experience here. I had pulled off a crown while eating salt water taffy, and immediatelty called them. As I was not in any pain, they were able to see me in a few days. Super nice People on the phone, and the great experience continued in person. I let Dr Adams know how scared I was and he went right to work making me feel comfortable, and fixing my tooth. I used to go to another dentist in town that would poke me and stab me and then take my blood pressure, and then annoy me about high my blood pressure was. Each time I would explain, I have a concierge Dr that sees me regularly with normal blood pressure, and that dental anxiety is my issue. Whatever, none of that craziness happened here, their focus was on my tooth, and I appreciated that. Dr Adams and his staff are super nice, and so funny. Our family absolutely loves it here! If you would ever want to consider changing dentists this is definitely the place to go! They treat you like family from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. They focus on the patient care experience and are always willing to answer questions and take time with you so that you can feel comfortable with the care that you're getting. They are there even after the treatment. I had some serious work done and received a call to see how I was doing after my treatment. I cannot say enough good things about this dentist and how they treat my family. My kids are always looking forward to going to the dentist because they know that they will be treated kindly there. It has changed their whole perspective on having dental work done. Another thing I love about the Reno dentist is that they are incredibly efficient with their scheduling. After reading the reviews, have to take the time to respond. I have received the best dental care ever between Dr Adams, and Christine, the hygienist. It has not been a smooth process, but that is due to my teeth, genetics and wanting the best outcome. The office staff seems to change frequently, but they have never been less than professional, and friendly. Regarding insurance, they do accept my coverage, and bill them directly, however, because they are not a "preferred provider" I do pay more out of pocket. I am fortunate to be able to do so, and I know for some, this is a reason to go elsewhere. I definitely believe, "you get what you pay for", and have made some sacrifices necessary to see Dr Adams and his staff. For dental work, you will not be disappointed. read more

I've had nothing but awful experiences up untill I came here, I needed a tooth pulled out and I was beyond nervous due to prior experiences, my dental assistant was amazing and made sure to reassure me a thousands times that it would be a breeze. I don't leave many reviews, but my experience at The Reno Dentist was recently so bad I feel I have to say something. I've been going there for about a year or so and at first things were pretty good. They're easy to book an appointment with, they have openings in their schedule, but now I think I know why they're not so busy. Smaller issue: when you first walk in they want you to "sign" a bunch of forms. What forms? No idea, you don't get to see them. There is a digital signature pad on the desk and they say something like "this is the terms of service form" and you're supposed to sign on the pad -- WITHOUT EVER SEEING THE FORM. Then they say "this is the whatever form" and you are supposed to sign that too. Many more follow. The forms could literally be anything. Very unprofessional, and actually hurts them; even Apple makes you scroll to the bottom before you click "agree" so they can say you saw the whole form. Here you don't see *any* of the form. Just goes to show how little they care about you. My large issue: they insist on routine x-rays every 18months. I'm in my 50's. Nothing is changing in my mouth. I've also had cancer, have a degree in Physics, and worked in the Healthcare space at Google and other places in Silicon Valley for over a decade. Let me tell you that you do NOT want more ionizing radiation (e.g. x-rays) than you need. Yes, they are better (lower energy) than they used to be. They still are to be minimized and not maximized. When I said I was declining the x-ray they said they had to do it, because "it is the law". I asked what legislative body passed such a law?! Is it Federal? State? Local? What is the name of the law so I can look it up? Then they said "oh, well, it's not a law but we are required to do it". By whom? "Oh, the ADA". Okay, let's look that up. Hmmm, looks to me like 36mo is within the ADA guidelines. Furthermore, since I've had freaking cancer, and my oncologist isn't in the room, the ADA guidelines also say "the dentist must weigh the benefits of taking dental radiographs against the risk of exposing a patient to x-rays, the effects of which accumulate from multiple sources over time ... the guidelines are intended to serve as a resource for the practitioner and are not intended as standards of care, requirements or regulations." As in, you have to look at the whole patient's health picture and ADA doesn't make you do anything (so they lied twice already). They don't look at your whole health picture. They just want the $$$ from x-rays as often as possible. When I said I am refusing the x-rays they refused to clean my teeth! I asked if they thought the patient's (my) outcome was maximized by their refusal to clean my teeth in the absence of x-rays. Not their problem, they say, so I had to leave without without my scheduled cleaning (after scheduling months in advance, planning my travel around the date, and driving an hour each way to get there). They want to rack up charges so they can charge your insurance company as much as possible. They don't care about you or your health. They don't listen to or respect their patients' needs. My guess is the dentists aren't so bad but the office manager/staff is running the business into the ground. I never got to talk to either of the actual doctors that day, so maybe they'll see the feedback here and get a wakeup call. Meanwhile, save yourself the lies, expenses, being treated like cattle, B.S. signature pad, and unnecessary radiation exposure -- go somewhere else. read more

If I could give a this company a negative 5 review I would. This company is unprofessional and unethical. My daughter who is 19 and a college student in Reno called this company for a cleaning and asked if they take her insurance, their response was they take all insurances. She has amazing insurance through her dad. They got her scheduled. Today she went and was there for 45 minutes, did x-rays and charged her 50% of the price for the x-rays her cost was $178.00 her insurance covers x-rays 100%. They told her that it was a comprehensive exam and that they didn't have time to do her cleaning which is the only thing that she wanted done. Her dad had called the office and said that before anything was to be done they needed to call him as he is the policy holder. They did not do this; they took our daughter in the room and spoke to her as "she is an adult and able to make decisions" (their words). Yes she is an adult but she is also not on her own insurance and has never had to go through something like this before. They told her that she had a co-pay. A co-pay is way different than paying for 50% of the cost of the x-rays and the visit. She went out to her car and called her dad in tears who made her walk back in and ask if they were out of network and they stated that they were. This is information that should have been given over the phone before the appointment was set. My daughter also asked for her money back or get a credit and Rosa at the front desk said rudely/snooty " No unfortunately we can not do that because you knew what you were paying". My daughters dad and I both called and spoke with Stephanie who acted as if she was offended that we would be calling and advocating for our daughter. She told me that my daughter had never asked for a refund. The way things are done in this company are completely opposite of how any patient let alone a new one should be treated. I feel that this company is looking for young college students that they can take advantage of by advertising that they accept all insurances when that is not the case (FALSE ADVERTISING IN MY BOOK). Young adults that may not have the knowledge of being an "adult" and feel like they can stand up for themselves, ask questions and say no to the service because they are already there. The staff was rude and unhelpful or even uncompassionate about the situation. My daughter stood in their office crying and they acted like it was an inconvenience that she was back in there upset and asking a question. PARENTS, make sure that your young adult children do not go here thinking that it will be covered by their insurance. This does make me wonder how many other unknowing kids have suffered this same fate. I advise everyone to steer clear of this place. They DO NOT take all insurances, which they advertise. Was not told my insurance was out of network, they just said I would have a 50% co-pay. Just to find out after charged $200 for some x-rays that I then had to ask if my insurance was out of network and then they said yes it was out of network. I also was scheduled to go there for a cleaning, was also NOT given a cleaning but was told to come back for a cleaning. I was then speaking to the manager of the place to try and get my money back since I was misinformed from their front desk, and via phone when they said that they take all insurances. Their method for billing is horribly flawed and seems to be a gotcha for customers. If you choose to do business with them definitely get everything in writing and have them preauthorize things with your insurance before they perform the work. They claimed that my insurance would cover certain procedures and X-rays and after they performed them it turned out they weren't covered. This scenario played out twice before I caught on and said no more. Also, I decided to get a second opinion on several high cost procedures that they claimed were absolutely necessary, and turns out they weren't. Finally, if you disagree with what was billed they're not very responsive and will quickly refer your bill to the extremely abusive "Collection Service of Nevada" for collections. I've been coming here for the past two years and for once I don't hate going to the dentist. The reception staff are always warm and inviting, the hygenists are talkative and gentle, and Dr. Adams is a total sweetheart who knows his stuff. I always feel like they're glad to have me, and--a big plus--they answer all of my questions without making me feel like a bother. I appreciate that when I get curious and ask what the tool is for or what they're looking for when they consult x-rays, they're happy to explain! I like feeling included in my own healthcare. Also, I've never felt upsold or like I was pushed to get something done I didn't need. So far I've gotten two fillings done by Dr. Adams and my wisdom teeth removed by an oral surgeon. Both times Dr. Adams and my hygenist were more than happy to walk me through the x-rays and show me what they saw so I understood their recommendations. Bonus: they're taking Covid very seriously, and because of that I've not had any qualms about keeping up on my semiannual visits. When you walk in, reception takes your temperature and asks screening questions, then you're led to your room to wash your hands and swish hydrogen peroxide in your mouth for a minute before sitting down. Thanks to Dr. Adams and the lovely staff here for making every trip honestly enjoyable! I didn't know that was possible for a dentist appointment. read more

although the dentists (i had 2 different ones) did an excellent job. i give only 2 stars for the treatment i received from the office staff their process & what you will owe was off by nearly $2000...in their favor of course -this caused me to take a loan in addition to my co-pays each visit. their treatment plan was confusing and i always left with my head spinning but no clear idea about what exactly was going to be done. i felt like it was a bunch of double talk done on purpose so i couldn't pin them down on costs. even when my eob's started comping back showing i owed significantly less. they continued to demand more money with each visit since my experience with the reno dentist was such a nightmare (financially) my husband has gone to another dentist here in sparks and received nearly identical treatment (partial denture) over a period of nearly 3 months they had him pay each visit and when they finished they were accurate within 7 cents. so what did they know that the reno dentist (specifically julie) didn't know???? seriously watch your money with these people!!!. julie told me they had no way of knowing the exact costs yet my insurance told me that they should have known the costs within $100 not off by over $2000! they are a preferred provider and have a breakdown of insurance costs for each procedure my husband's dentist knew this. same exact insurance makes me wonder if they would have reimbursed me had i not been on top of my eobs again...pay attention to your money and if you're plan pays 100% for cleaning - i challenge you to get them to do "the free cleaning" not gonna happen because you need "special cleanings" - i had at least 2 & possibly 3 cleanings in the 3-4 months that they worked on me. none were the free ones that my insurance covers . they told me if i came back for a cleaning the following year - it would not be free (my insurance includes free cleaning) but that it would cost me $99 because i need a "special" type of cleaning. that would have made it a minimum of 3 cleanings in a year and i still would have needed that $99 "special cleaning " ridiculous rip off!!! read more

It's an unfortunate situation that I'm currently reducing my review to a 1 star. When I was home in December I went to the dentist for a cleaning with my regular dental hygienist, who I've seen every time since beginning to come to this dentist. After my teeth were cleaning, one of the dentists came in to check my teeth. All was fine, until my insurance informed me he was NOT in my network, and I was charged for the cleaning. However, when booking my cleaning, I only pick a hygienist, not a dentist. I felt cheated by the office. On top of my problem, my dad was also assigned to a dentist that is apparently not in our network...even though he (and my mom) were assured everything was OK before he got work done. Now they are telling us we were informed ahead of time...which we weren't. Why have some dentists in a network and not others, and not be upfront about it? Sadly, I do not plan to return to the Reno Dentist, because I feel that they are no longer looking out for their patients' best interests. read more

I went to the Reno Dentist knowing that I had quite a bit of work to be done. I also had a timeline in which I needed to complete said treatment, and The Reno Dentist is the only firm in town that gave me the piece of mind that the work could be completed within the timeline I had. From the start, the front desk person Shelsea was very friendly and helpful. I was given a tour of the office and sat down for my initial exam with Brittany. She was very friendly and easy to talk to, and before I knew it Dr. Zurcher was in to see me. We went over treatment options and set out a plan of attack that would allow me to complete all of my work in the time frame. Over the course of my 4 or 5 visits I continued to work with Dr Zurcher who did an excellent job. He always made sure I was adequately numb (apparently it's hard for me to get numb) and was patient with me. I worked with Sarah who was excellent, as well as Shelly, the Hygienist/cleanings person. Shelly was extremely thorough in my mouth, and I couldn't stop smiling once I got home and saw the results of the cleaning. I just finished my last treatment plan and can confidently say that I am very glad I chose this office. They have two locations so regardless of what side of town you are on it will be convenient. They also have in house crown procuring technology which makes things much easier and everything can be done on site. One thing in particular I noticed about Dr Zurcher is the effort he made to make sure I was happy with the work being completed -- particularly with my crown in the front. Keeping the same color and consistency as the rest of my front teeth was of high priority, and he made sure that it matched perfectly. One other thing that I really liked was the office utilizes text-messaging technology which keeps you up to date on your appointment times and schedule. And if it couldn't get better, Dr Zurcher contacted me after each appointment in the after hours just to make sure I was ok and not in pain. Not sure where else you'll get that kind of personal service, but I really appreciated it. This is my new dentist. I will be coming here for all of my future dental needs, as well as recommending it to all of my friends and family! read more

What a joke, is this actually a professional dental office? On 12/19/22 I received a text notification indicating that I had a balance due. Considering that I had never received a billing statement and previously had not received a text notification of that nature from the office, I thought it was a scam. To add to the confusion, in October of 2022 I had received an update mailed to me letting me know that I had $1500 to spend with The Reno Dentist. So...rather than click the link in the text notification, I decided to call the phone number noted... which routed me to a voicemail box so I left a message expressing my confusion. Christmas came and went yet I had not received a call back so I figured it actually was a scam because the phone number in the text notification was different from the phone number noted online. On 01/03/23 I called the other phone number I had for The Reno Dentist to make them aware of the scam, I got the voicemail and left a message. On 01/04/23, I received a call back from Robin. I was told that the text notification was something new and I did indeed have an outstanding bill of approximately $380 from a visit on 12/30/21. I was told to contact my insurance company because they had not paid the bill. In speaking with my insurance company, The Reno Dentist office had submitted the claim then had been asked by my insurance company for additional information...which was not provided so the claim was denied...and just sat evidently. My insurance company was very kind and said they were going to try to push the claim through, but since it had been over a year they weren't sure what the outcome would be. I immediately called The Reno Dentist back to let Robin know what my insurance company had said, I was told that their office was going to resubmit the insurance claim on their end as well. On January 6th The Reno Dentist issued two separate bills that were sent to me in the mail, one had a total balance of $376.77 and the other included a finance charge...for a total of $382.42...but both were issued the same day...very odd. I must note that the original claim to my insurance was $349 so obviously The Reno Dentist added extra charges when they realized the bill had sat. Both bills caution that my account is over 90 days past due and in the final stage before going to collections. Talk about absolutely ridiculous, it took over two weeks for The Reno Dentist to get back to me...and that's only because I called again...who knows how much longer it would have taken to hear back. All in all, why did it take them nearly a year to notify me of the bill? The claim did get denied...however, my insurance would have easily paid that fee had The Reno Dentist provided the requested information accordingly and in a timely manner. Instead The Reno Dentist insists that I pay out of pocket for their screw up. The Reno Dentist seriously needs to get their poop in a group and quit wasting my time/energy. Please don't let them waste yours as well, choose a different dental office for sure. read more

This place is wonderful! And they get you in a normal time frame so you don't need to book appointments months out like some dentists. They help with your insurance right away so you know what your options are during the first visit. They also help formulate a treatment plan if needed and clean your teeth like you wouldn't believe! The waiting area is nice too and the dentist is really nice! All the staff is helpful and friendly and made me feel like they have known me for years right away! I am planning on booking some teeth whitening so I will update after that is done! read more

At the Reno Dentist all they care about is your money, clients is nothing for them. When I first came I made it clear that my insurance balance was 2000$ and agreed with the dental clinic to not to proceed that limit. After that I was surprised that I was charged 300$ over my insurance limit, because the assistant went over my balance limit. Immediately after I was just done with my first procedure two receptionist females one is called Rachel, the other one called Shannon forced me to pay that amount and were extremely rude and took advantage of my lack of experience. Regardless of the bad treatment, I came back next year just for being a loyal client. Before scheduling my next appointment the representative was extremely rude and told me that I have to pay all of my balance dues and not to repeat the same scenario of drama last year. So, I was offended and talked to her regarding that. For the next time I had an appointment at the Reno dentist, they were sending me tons of notification messages to come to the next appointment. So, the day came and I went to the Reno dentist 10 minutes earlier as usual. So, without any shame the Reno dentist staff made wait outside for 30 minutes despite that I told them that I have a final in 2 hours. Then the representative who is called Shannon took me to guest room, just like a HOSTAGE telling me that I am about to get my cleaning appointment done soon and this is just a new thing. 15 minutes later doctor SHANE SYKES took me by surprise and entered the room and was extremely provocative and assaulting to me. DR. SHANE SYKES kept trying to humiliate, despise, and make feel low and it was extremely obvious that he had a recording machine. DR. SHANE SYKES told me you did not pay your balance and you were rude to their employees. Then DR. SHANE SYKES was telling me you are not normal and very rude and disrespected every single worker in my clinic. Then I told him is it OK for your worker to rip me off but not OK for me to react to that, then with cold blood DR SHANE SYKES told that is totally fine, you can just say you are frustrated! DR SHANE SYKES asked me to apologize to every single female worker at the clinic and pay 128$ if I want him to service otherwise he told me leave right now. I told DR SHANE SYKES that I have an exam in 2 hours why did you disrespected my time and brought me here to feel less than a human being. Then DR SHANE SYKES kept his very humiliating and assaultive attitude and bluntly told me leave right now. And at the end when he saw that I was delivering my point and he did not like that he sounded wrong, DR SHANE SYKES told me conversation is over just leave right now.So when I was leaving I reached my hand to him and DR SHANE SYKES was staring at my hand despisingly made me feel as if I am a filthy human being and he barely shook my hand. So far they have not been good at all. First time we came in the lady had me wait the entire time even though she said she'd let me come in to support my boyfriend since he has a fear of the dentist due to prior visits. He kept asking for me and she said she would get me but never did then lied to my face saying she just forgot, when she didn't. The second visit he was getting a deep cleaning and wasn't bad except the lady didn't put in the right information in what she did so everyone was confused and they almost didn't do his cleaning right until I told them they were wrong. They should already know the work they've done on someone so they don't accidentally redo the same procedure or miss any spots. Additionally, the lady the third time we came almost did the wrong side. Then told us that she wouldn't use the numbing cream because "she doesn't do that" and instead forced him to get the anesthetic shots which freaked him out and hurt. Then on top of that she acted as if I was stupid and incompetent when I tried asking simple questions. Also, whenever we try to schedule a follow up appointment which is usually time sensitive they can never get him in, overall, don't have time for the people they already have and yet ask for more referrals. I thought the Reno Dentist was one of the better dentists, and for 2 years they were. The receptionists are very nice along with the hygienists. Recently, my permanent retainer broke and my orthodontist is in a different state. I figured I would check with the Reno Dentist to see if they could fix my retainer as this was a time crisis for my teeth to start shifting. They made an appointment with me and "fixed" it. Nothing was broken, just reattached my wire to my tooth. They charged me $450 for a 20 minute appointment. I called my orthodontist the next day to ask how much they would've charged me, and it would've cost me $25. I would've saved more money flying home and fixing the retainer there, than coming to the Reno Dentist. Extremely disappointing. read more

Went to get a tooth filling redone a few months ago, and it hasn't 'healed' since. My tooth was fine and functioning prior to the filling breaking off, but after the redone one from the Reno Dentist, it hasn't stopped giving me sensitivity and discomfort. I can't eat properly or without extra care on the left side of my mouth, and it is highly inconvenient. I've been coming for appointments to get it fixed, but it still hasn't been. I don't understand why I'm not given a reason for the tooth still hurting? I'm going to visit a different dentist, and don't think I will be coming back anymore. read more

It's extremely unfortunate because Dr.Adams is an incredible dentist and a very kind person. However, DO NOT GO HERE! Their billing department is a massive dumpster fire. They will consistently bill your insurance incorrectly. They once overcharged me by $300 because they "forgot" to apply my in network discount. If you don't actively compare your EOB's from insurance, you will easily get overcharged. They ended their contact with my insurance and failed to pass that information to me after continuing to see them for two additional appointments after the fact. Only to charge me as unknowingly out of network. Even my insurance told me multiple times that they were indeed "in network". They continued to bill my insurance as if they were "in network", collecting that money and then charging me out of network and out of pocket costs. It's extremely frustrating. Carlos, ginger, and Dr.Foulk were all very kind and efficient! My sister had another appointment to get to and they made sure to get us out quickly without rushing! Do not go here!!!! They are all friendly at first and quote you a reasonable price but then after the work is done and you go to pay you are charged something different. I went in for work and the bill was over $200 more than the quote. Dr. Sikes said some BS about the procedure being more extensive than he thought. Funny thing is when he examined my tooth he said the procedure would take about 2 hours. It was not only over $200 more but the procedure only took him 1 hour and 15 min. So lets see, the procedure was more extensive which means more work than he thought but it took less time to do than he thought it would. What a rip off....I miss Dr. York. Go to Divine Dental, they will take care of you. They are so nice and great prices and the quotes are spot on. SHAME SHAME SHANE. read more

While I did appreciate a dentist seeing me on a Saturday to do a partial procedure, the office was very uncooperative coordinating with my regular dentist on Monday. After doing some research and checking out the reviews, I decided to check out the Reno Dentist. Even from the initial contact, I've been impressed with Dr Sykes and his staff. Everyone has been extremely professional and friendly, and beginning with my initial checkup, they've clearly communicated what I can expect and given me a good home regime. The Reno Dentist is up to date on technology, they were able to make a replacement crown in the time that it took to replace a few old fillings. I would highly recommend the Reno Dentist! read more

I was introduce to this Dental Clinic from my previous Dentist that is moving to Vegas. I was hesitant at first but after my first visit they actually took care of me. Excellent customer service. They make you feel welcome. The only difference from my previous dentist is that they don't provide eye protection while they are doing the cleaning and they have the hygienist clean your teeth instead of the actual doctor. I'm not sure why Dr. Kim does it himself but I do love the hygienist that's doing my cleaning now. Thank you :) read more
