Be careful about their billing practices! I went to Reno Smiles because I needed a root canal and they told me they accepted my insurance. They did an adequate job on my procedure, but after it was done they told me I owed another $350 because my insurance wouldn't cover the procedure. This was a standard root canal, not emergency surgery, so it seems to me they could have checked with my insurance in advance and told me up front how much I would owe. It seems to me that this is a somewhat deceptive practice on their part, so I warn anyone considering Reno Smiles to read the small print and make sure that you know what kind of costs you will face going in. New patient services sought dental cleaning, known one cavity and a lower partial. Result of examination: Two cavities, two crowns necessary. Did not suspect what I would learn later, Reno Smiles is an in network off site corporate managed branch that drives income goals and unnecessary dental work may occur, profit sharing with staff. Estimate encompassing all dental work (except partial, separate appointment): Estimated fee was $3,614 in appearance but they billed under another column category creating the appearance of discount pricing, I was misled and gross billing exceeded $7,000. I had two insurance policies. Predetermination and coverage confirmation requested did not occur, instead the insurance payout were low balled which increased my cost absent refund when paid and greater. All procedures in one appointment. Interrupted mid-stream, staff presented no same day crown without paying $3-400 upgrade fee or wait 2-3 weeks and another appointment to install. They will end up billing me $1,614 just for the crown same day up charge. End result for each crown never intended nor possibly necessary as I suspect based on network pressures pursuing profits, totaled almost $3,000 each. As the work completed concerns mounted due to minimal tooth prep, viewing one crown of two was tiny, like a cap more so. Paid total $1,616 then the insurance claims showed no out of pocket whatsoever on second policy and the practice was paid on the other policy over $700 additionally. Insurance over payment was not posted to my account and they owed me full refund and have refused, only $99 refunded to date. I canceled my partial appointment. I no longer had sufficient insurance funds available. Absent refund escalating to dental board, AG deceptive trade practice violations, insurance commission and private small claims filing. Filed a BBB complaint. Either BBB or Reno Smiles sent it to a network branch in Las Vegas and they responded with, "we can't address a response unless we have a Hippa release on record". I provided release, then not only didn't they respond but BBB used the excuse the form triggered a policy and now they wouldn't publish the complaint. I challenged them, they caved; then came back and blamed evidence exhibits attached to complaint may have personal info so they never published. One scam, seek dispute and publication remedies, another scam. read more

Here's what happened to my wife. Rather than focus on basic dental care (like regular cleanings) they lied to her and said she had advanced gingivitis (even though she had no bleeding or gum issues of any sort) and recommended immediate special ultrasonic cleaning ($1000) and an additional $9000 of replacement fillings and crowns. They present it in a formal-looking folder ..... with financing they provide. This almost seems criminal what they are doing. Avoid. read more

My daughter saw another franchise of this office in Folsom, CA yesterday. She starts school soon so we drove to Reno last night and here we are getting cavity filled. Our appt was at 930, it is now noon and procedure ongoing. No telling for how long. Place is busy, waiting room crowded, tons of workers running around...extremely disorganized. They interrupt the dentist when he is working alone on my daughter. He had to run down the hall to ask for dental assistance halfway through procedure! Great dentist / orthodontist office. My dentist Joel is always full of energy which makes my appts go as smooth as possible. The staff are very kind, knowledgeable and approachable. They really do their best to provide a quality experience from the time you step into the door. Reno Smiles Dentistry and Orthodontics - Rate 'Less Than Zero'. The receptionist twice made it impossible to do business with. The second time for a cleaning appointment, after having the first cleaning appointment rescheduled, (due to their dental worker could not fulfill the appointment), this receptionist was incredible rude! This is after I spent over $1,100 dollars on a same day crown! I was only 5 minutes tardy and this receptionist copped an attitude with me and basically refused service (probably because the dental worker did not show up for work and the receptionist failed to alert me again-just speculation), because I was treated with incredulity. Specifically, the receptionist treated me like I was the problem by letting her know I had already used their platform called 'MyChart' to fill out pre-appointment information. THe women insisted I fill out the information I had pre-filled out the previous day and usually, I am treated with praise for being efficient and attending to their needs in advance. They are the worst dentists I have ever been to and I have been to many. I paid $8,000 for an implant and crown in the front. Terrible experience to begin with. Now, tey used cheap material for the crown and it tears any flossing I use around it. Another implant they did for me, they left the crown with a huge space under it so that it has become a food trap. They are not responsive to any complaints, they just say it will be alright. My experience at this office felt very transactional and when someone is working in your mouth that feeling left a bad taste. The dentist was more focused on upselling than solving my dental needs. They also check you out in the dentist chair rather than discussing your procedures in an office. Seemed highly unprofessional. Lastly! The pricing was outrageous! The staff here are so sweet and understanding. They make me feel so comfortable and safe. Before doing anything they walk me through the process so there are no surprises. I went to Reno Smiles for a dental exam. The exam went well, and everyone there was polite (for which I give them a star). I do need to have some crowns and other work done. I tried to speak with the dentist about what my insurance would cover. She told me that someone would come in to disscuss my options with me. After a while someone came in with several printed pages,explaining the work that would be done, and how many thousands of dollars it would cost me out of pocket. None of the procedures proposed were covered by my insurance.They didn't even mention alternatives that my insurance WOULD cover. I pay my dental premiums for a reason. And, I hate being hustled ! read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND! Came here in excruciating pain with a large cavity that obviously hit a nerve and is likely infected. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to come to that conclusion on one's own. Dr Wells has the bedside manner of an arrogant frat boy who just got out of med school. He speaks in a condescending manner and uses complex medical terminology to try and convince you to buy more services than absolutely necessary. Came here for an emergency appointment and they charge $85 up front just for the assessment and don't offer any sort of reasonable payment plan unless you qualify for their credit card. If you can't qualify for credit bc, oh, I don't know, maybe our entire economy is geared towards killing poor people and there's still a global pandemic raging outside our doors that has impacted people's credit for the last 2 years now, they want you to pay $119 for a "savings program" that barely saves 5% off of services. If you can't pay $1500+ for a service up front and don't qualify for credit, they will flat out refuse you care and tell you to "f*** off" through smiling lips. I've only been this disgusted with one other dental office I've ever been to in my life. It's clear to see why they have openings for walk-ins at this place. All they want to do is sell people cosmetic dentistry and don't care about actually helping people heal. Go somewhere else where they treat people like human beings and not cash cows. read more

I would love to give Reno Smiles Dentistry more stars but they just don't deserve them. For one, if you see a dentist here and they actually recommend you need work done, the actual dentist in the office is not the one who performs the procedure. I had a mouth guard (night guard) made here and explained to the dentist that I had a troubled tooth that I wanted to address FIRST before paying $300 for the night guard. She assured me that the night guard had a one year warranty and that if I needed the tooth extracted or root canal that we would be able to replace the night guard. The next visit in the office I was informed the night guard only had a six month warranty which was technically over by the time of my next cleaning. They always bill me for services I decline, or over bill me and then my insurance has to reimburse me months later, their FOH system is awful. If you're forgetful then maybe this is the place for you, but I find it so annoying that I have to confirm my appointments at one month, one week, one day, by phone, by email... it's insane. How many times do I have to confirm my appointment before they realize I am actually going to be there?! Anyway today I had my teeth cleaned. I actually would never let them do anything else here because I don't find the dentists to be knowledgeable since they have to outsource everything. The dentist (Dr. Dinh) was so amazing and thorough cleaning my teeth I complimented her - the other dentist is not quite as thorough. The assistant on the other hand was awful. She polished and flossed my teeth and my poor gums are so swollen and red, 12 hours later! I hope she is more gentle to others because her flossing my teeth could have been used as a form of torture in war. I asked for a cup of mouthwash so I could rinse my mouth, they are all out! I thought this was the dentist! The only dentist I've ever been to that doesn't provide you with a place to rinse out your mouth, it's weird. On the hunt for a new dentist. read more

Not recommended!!!! First appointment the receptionist was rude. Second appointment after I told the receptionist I'm allowed 4 cleanings a year she told me I have to call my insurance even though I told her I did already. Third appointment they cancelled my appointment 3 weeks before and said that they gave me a call and couldn't leave a voicemail even though I've been getting calls and voicemail all the time. I asked if they tried calling again or sending an email since they have it. I was just told that they only do 1 call and if they can't leave a voicemail that's it. Again, beware. I want to like this place but they're very unprofessional, rude, and unorganized and this is just my experience in not even 3 months. Unfortunately they've lost my business permanently. I've received 3 different quotes, you pay deposits that don't transfer, I've taken time off of work for appts I don't need. It's been a horrible experience and they seem to think that me being a paying customer isn't keeping them business. I don't want to be in a position where I get a surprise bill for their lack of information. I also don't understand how you outsource a doctor at different locations but all of them have different pricing. That should be said beforehand. I would love to go into detail about everything but it's too much. I do want to say that I had a receptionist quite a price then another receptionist completely redo it because it was wrong. A difference if $1000 dollars and the only explanation was she was new. Which is fine but at some point as a business you need to be accountable. Run- do not walk- away. We went here when our normal dentist stopped accepting our insurance under our normal dental plan. We went for standard cleanings and the dentist (I forget who he was) literally told me I would die young if I didn't get a procedure that has at best been described as optional. I've been through emergency surgeries after an accident involving my mouth, implants, root canals, wisdom tooth removal, basically you name it. I don't want anything unnecessary done to me. I've seen so many dentists and oral surgeons, some of them truly remarkable,and never once been told that my short tongue was an issue unless it hindered my speech, let alone that it would threaten my life. He literally said, "not to scare you, but this can kill you if you don't take care of it now." And went on with an explanation of how it's pulling my gums back and exposing my teeth and that will open me up to heart disease. Maybe it's true, I'm no expert, but I don't need to be scared into an elective surgery. Before I could say no, he had me scheduled for an expensive elective procedure (but if it's going to kill me, won't my insurance cover it? Apparently not) the next day. My husband had a similar experience with them scaring him into replacing his crown before our upcoming vacation for fear it would crack while overseas. Even the receptionists were in on the scare tactics. For the record, it didnt crack, and fast forward to this year with our dental buy-up and back to our trustworthy dentist and his quote for the crown repair is literally less than 1/3 of what they wanted here. And no mention of my impending doom either. We are so glad we didn't get anything besides a cleaning at this chain dental clinic. read more

This place is the bomb and Dr. Olson is awesome. I was going to another place across town but decided to come to a new dentist for a second opinion AND because it was much closer to home. I'd heard good things about Reno Smiles from a friend so I went ahead and made an appointment. I am just so impressed, staff is super friendly, office is modern and clean, and Dr. Olson is the absolute best. The first time we came, it was a different doctor who was also awesome- but he moved away. I was worried about another new dentist... til I met Dr. Olson. She's got such a great, welcoming personality and she always explains all options thoroughly. She's an excellent dentist. My main reason for coming was for a second opinion because I was suspicious that my previous dentist was incorrect in his diagnosis. It turns out I was right, and thus by getting this second opinion, saved myself several thousands of dollars of unnecessary dental work. I've moved my children's dental care here too. This weekend, my almost-13 year old daughter broke her tooth and I called Reno Smiles this morning upon opening. They got her in immediately and got it fixed right up. They also have an orthodontist now, as well as a periodontist and an endodontist. I think it's pretty great that they have all those services right here in the same office. And from what I've seen at different offices in town, their pricing is quite reasonable. read more

where the f**k is my f**king $500 refund that you charge me but i never had the work done. i have requested the refund on the 26th of december last year 2019. it has been over a f**king month and i have not seen a check in my mail for $500. i'm going to the bbb and the nevada state board of examiners. this place is a f**king joke. stay away from this dentist at all cost. they are quick to take your money and they do not do a good f**king job. if you don't have insurance they will sure finance you with the worst financial union ever. i will have the reno pd there on monday to get a police report and file a lawsuit with this scamming dentist. to get a lawyer, bbb, nevada state board of examiners, and the reno pd involved at a place where they practice lies taking as much money from you is a place to avoid. should not f**king take over a month for my $500 refund!!!! give me my f**king money!!!!!!!
