I am new to Reno and heard great things about this office in the Conscious Reno Facebook group. They had a last-minute cancellation so I was able to be seen right away for my dental implant problem. Dr. Nick took really great care of me and explained everything in detail. He was able to resolve the issue (glued the crown back on) in one visit. It is nerve wracking to go to a new dentist but the whole staff (including Elizabeth at the front desk) and his assistant were really warm and reassuring. I am a patient of Dr Nicks'. I recently went in because of terrible pain in my tooth and hadn't been there In a while. The staff remembered me right away. They are so very caring and make you feel like family! Dr Nick had to remove the tooth, couldn't be saved. He went over the details of the questionable tooth and explained everything to me. So very gentle, I never felt a thing! He has always been a kind and compassionate dentist. Really present when you talk to him, you are not just a "patient" to him, he makes sure you are comfortable and pain free. I am a dentist snob, meaning I have very high expectations for qualify service and a thorough cleaning. I've never had a cavity or any work done so I can't speak to those services. I've had some terrible experiences with hygienists who simply tell me that I have excellent teeth and do next to nothing during my cleaning, there is nothing more disappointing in my opinion, I wait 6 months for this day to come and I want the full deal! I had a hard time when I first moved to Reno to find the perfect practice, some had too much "new" technology that didn't seem to produce valid assessments, some were so old and run down that I didn't feel clean... one happy day I decided to try A Dentistry, I had seen a sign for their practice as I have other providers in the same complex (you probably do too, everyone seems to have an office here, it is also very centrally located). My first appointment went glowingly well, my Hygienist did one of the most thorough cleanings that I have had, I could feel the shine when she was done, it was amazing! If you don't enjoy cleanings and don't want them to get in there and scrape every fleck of plaque off, then this is not the place for you. If you enjoy a place that takes their time to ensure the highest quality job, then you should book an appointment. My hygienist and I had a very fluid and natural conversation which I enjoyed. After the appointment the very friendly, accommodating and kind women up front asked me detailed questions about my appointment and how I felt about my hygienist to ensure my appointment met both my expectations as well as their standards. Their model (I believe) is to keep you with the same hygienist always, which I love, because after time they really get to know your preferences and you have a perfect appointment every single time. I see Dr. Melissa who is outstanding, her level of customer service is unmatched. She is honest, provides detailed and understandable explanations and she is very reliable for her expert opinion. I got invisalign through her and she did a quality job through the entire process, she didn't try to oversell me on levels of the service that I didn't need, she is budget conscious while ensuring you get 100% of what you expect. She is very easy to talk to and I enjoy my time with her. I've seen Dr. Nick once and he was also very professional and great to work with. One thing I love most about this practice is that they are most nearly always on time, they respect your time as much as you should respect theirs. On one occasion Dr. Melissa was running behind and therefore my appointment was running late, she genuinely felt terrible and explained that is not her standard and she gifted me a starbucks gift card for the inconvenience. It can't be easy, being in a profession where you are one of most peoples least favorite things to do. Going to the dentist is NEVER listed as favorite pastime, unless you are a masochist or have a very unique idea of a good time. I don't hate going to the dentist, not scared out of my mind about it like some folks I know, but it is not on my list of "WOOO HOOO! Let's do that!" I was referred to this place by a friend. My previous dentist's office was ok, but inconsistent and seemed to be trying to sell me treatments for issues I wasn't convinced that I had. Going to this office and seeing Dr. Amaral confirmed my suspicion. Very thorough exam and explanation and the hygienist, Cindy, is a riot! I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a 2nd opinion or anyone who experiences dental anxiety. The receptionists and dental assistant, Yun (sp?) were so friendly and sincere. I don't think anyone is ever proud to say they haven't seen a dentist in 5 plus years! So, like most would be - I was slightly nervous and a bit apprehensive about FINALLY making an appointment! But with a teething 16 month old, it was most definitely time to take the leap to insure his healthy start! Scheduling my family's appointment was easy and convenient! The receptionist was thorough and incredibly friendly! Paperwork was emailed a head of time so that I could complete it prior to my appointment. Which in turn made my wait time less than 3 minutes! I was greeted by Julie who took me back to begin my x-rays. Which in the past, has been one of my least favorite parts! Julie completely eased my nerves and worked quickly and efficiently! She could not have started my visit any better! Dr. Amaral is AMAZING! I never felt rushed, or that I asked too many questions... Or even my biggest fear... Shamed for waiting so long to see a dentist! Vicky (I believe) who did my cleaning, continued the streak of excellence! This was hands down the best experience I've EVER had at any dental office! My husband and son have their appointments in 2 weeks and I can say with confidence that their experience will be just as fantastic! I would never suggest waiting a better part of a decade to see a dentist but this office was definitely worth the wait!!! read more

I came from another dental office with quite a few issues and I am also an extremely anxious patient. Dr. Nick is compassionate, honest and gentle. He explained everything that was going on with a realistic plan and with a great amount of patience. I have never had this much confidence in any other dental office as a whole. This place is so nice! Really great decor with complimentary water & coffee. Most important the staff is amazing. Everybody is friendly and very knowledgable. I love Vicki's cleanings and Dr. Amaral & Julie are a fantastic team if you need something more than a cleaning. I recently had the misfortune of dealing with another dentist for my father's root canal. They charged 30% more than A Dentistry does for the work and did a botched job that had to be redone with surgery. I can't imagine something like that happening at A Dentistry, they clearly take pride in their work and educating their patients. I've never felt so strongly about quality of care! I recently relocated from New York City, I had the best of the best when it came to all my dental needs, from Oral Surgeons, Prosthodontics, to Endodontist's. I did several search's on line and calling around, because of my on going dental needs. I went to another dentist for a couple of months and was not impressed by his arrogance nor his hygienist who used to ask me if my teeth feel clean? As I need frequent cleaning based on my dental issues asking me a question like that was alarming to say the least and NO... a 17 minute cleaning is not cleaning my teeth as I have major periodontist issues, I need frequent cleanings, ever 7-8 weeks. I was lucky I found "A DENTISTRY"! Dr. Nick, is AMAZING!!! They have the top of the line equipment, a Prosthodontics lab on site that can do most cap work and the hygienist, Cindy is Wonderful and painless. The office is modern and exceptionally clean (the last dentist office entrance smelled like mold, nice when your having gum surgery). Dr. Nick's, staff are very friendly and helpful. Amazing experience. I have terrible anxiety when it comes to dental offices and I am really impressed. Elizabeth is what every doctors offices needs up front, my dentist was super patient and seemed to listen to my fears and concerns and that's what I really wanted to make sure I had at this new dentist. I have been going to A Dentistry for many years and have never had a bad experience. My teeth are lousy due to 50+ years of soda drinking and thanks to their great work I still have all my teeth (with a few crowns). They have very low turnover and that says a lot to me. My fear of going to the dentist is FINALLY gone!! Not only is this office beautiful but very calming with the atmosphere it radiates! Both Dr. Amaral and Dr. Anastassatos make sure you are comfortable before beginning any work and thoroughly talk you through whatever you are having done. After they begin to work on you, if they sense any sort of discomfort you may be experiencing, they stop right away to ensure a comfortable, painless, fearless experience! It is worth driving from the Bay just to see a dentist when you have an experience like that. I have referred them to several friends in the Reno area as well. I was referred to Dr Amaral by a former co worker, and it was such a wonderful recommendation. I'm very nervous when it comes to work on my teeth but she was great and made me feel totally comfortable. My daughters love this office and don't want anyone else to touch their teeth except Dr. A and Julz. The girls have had teeth pulled, cavities filled, teeth cleaned, sealants and I have never had any problems. This office is beautiful, staff is great! I started out with Dr Amaral, but had to see her husband, Dr Nick for a few appointments. He is overall a good dentist, but very rude and aggressive with his assistants, it made me very uncomfortable. As for Dr Amaral, she is amazing and very sweet.
