I've been coming here for about 4 years and it has always been a good experience. Jenny and the rest of the staff are always on their game and know what it is going on. I love that they take care what is needed from my insurance and I don't have to lift a finger in regards to it. Fortunately, I don't have to see Dr. Swanson for anything major, but on times that I do which is for regular dental exams, it was always a pleasant encounter. The new location is a bit of a drive for me in comparison to Gentry office but it is a LOT nicer neighborhood! read more

I had a dental emergency while vacationing at Lake Tahoe. The entire staff provided excellent patient care. The front office staff thankfully squeezed me in same day, and the assistant (I believe her name was Melissa) made sure I was comfortable throughout my visit. Dr. Swanson has an excellent bedside manner. He was very careful during the examination as to not cause any additional pain. Dr. Swanson was thorough to ensure there was no infection present and realistic about my treatment options. I was able to receive a temporary fix same day until I can be seen by my primary dentist back in Virginia. Highly recommend! read more

If you dread going to the dentist (as I did) and are now looking for a new dentist, look no further! I had not seen a dentist since before the start of Covid and, being terrified of dental visits, had put off dental care for several years until I got a toothache and could no longer avoid it. I was very fortunate to discover Dr. Swanson and his amazing staff! The staff is friendly, informative and very professional. They were able to quickly and accurately determine how much my insurance would cover and how much I was responsible for. I had four procedures - a crown replacement, a new crown, an old filling replacement, and a filling for a new cavity. Dr. Swanson and his assistant put me at ease for each procedure, explaining exactly what would happen, answering all my questions, and checking in with me frequently during the procedures. Most importantly to me, Dr. Swanson made sure I was completely numbed up for each procedure. He made sure my crown replacement and my new crown fit perfectly! In fact, even the temporary crowns fit perfectly! And I experienced absolutely no pain in the hours/days after each procedure. Finally, after some of the visits I was pleasantly surprised to receive personal calls from Dr. Swanson just checking in to see how I was feeling. Visits occurring July-August 2017 Wow! Dr. Swanson's office is as good as it gets. His entire staff is professional, friendly, and regards patient care with the utmost importance. I can not stress this enough: If you are afraid of dentists and having dental work done, you *MUST* come to this office. There is no better place! A little background for me: I'm your typical American citizen. A patriot. A lover of pizza, hot dogs, ice cream and cake. I was also terrified of the dentist, as are so many of us. All of those carb loaded treats tend to do a lot of damage to the teeth. Although I take pretty good care of my dental hygiene at home, it had been 10 years since I lost dental coverage and my history with dentists had me terrified. Alas, however, it was time for a check up. Because my last visit with a hygienist left me somewhat traumatized, I diligently sought a new office to take care of my dental needs that would also be covered by my newly received insurance plan. Swanson Dental Group didn't have a lot of reviews, but all of them described an experience I sought and I decided on this office. Best decision I ever made! I do not kid you when I say that Garrett and his staff do such outstanding work, that--if I had to--I would likely travel out of state in order to receive their care. I've had several visits in the past couple of months: *1 examination with x-rays: This was my first visit, and Diana completely put me at ease and we actually had a lot of fun, pretending it was a photo shoot. I knew then that this office was a winner. *2 visits for deep cleanings: 2 quads done at a time. The first visit was with part time hygienist Nancy. This was where the real terror, for me, sank in. The last hygienist I saw was cranky, in a hurry, and really tore into my gums with no regard to the pain she was causing me. Nancy was so gentle, she didn't even numb me up in the slightest, even though it was an option. I was very anxious at the beginning of this visit, but when it was over I felt great. Second visit with part time hygienist Heather also went amazing! She used a cavitron to clean my teeth and gums this time around. A little more pain than the scraper Nancy used, but she was very tentative to my needs, making sure I was doing alright at every little wince, and it felt like my gums were truly cleansed. *I also had my wisdom teeth extracted from Dr. Swanson himself. He prescribed an oral sedative to treat my anxiety before the appointment. He was very careful making sure I was completely numb, offered me breaks when I needed it. Although I wasn't put to sleep, all 3 extractions went great. Honestly, Dr. Swanson did such a great job that I realized I really didn't need to be put out. Plus it was kind of fun being aware of everything that was going on! *Finally, most recently, I had a crown put in. This process was a little bit longer than the single visit extraction for my 3 wisdom teeth. Now, if you're like me, and you hate the whirring of the tools, or the scraping of the metal against your teeth, I have great news: With permission, Dr. Swanson and his staff allow you to wear earphones and listen to music while you're having your work done! This is great for me, because one of the things that scared me the most about dental work was the sound of the tools being used on my teeth. The visit for the crown went awesome, of course, and Dr. Swanson and Renee took extra care to make sure the impression/mold for my crown was absolutely perfect. So to summarize, this office is definitely as good as it gets! So if you're uneasy or not sure about where to go, choose this place!! You won't regret it! I'm so glad that I found this dental office and this dentist. I've just had a LOT of work done. I recently moved to Reno and hadn't been to the dentist for about three years. Yes, I'm dental phobic. I looked at reviews and compared them with the list of dentists that accepted my plan. Fortunately, I chose Dr. Swanson and his practice. I'm so pleased. Before my first appointment, the dentist actually called me to make sure I understood what was going to happen during my appointment. That level of concern has been shown to me throughout my appointments. I've received more than one call from the dentist checking on how I was doing after a procedure. My advise to fellow patients is to always recheck/double check your EOB (explanation of benefits) and compare it to what this provider is charging you. Please check and never trust them. This dental office charges more than what is stated on their contract with the insurance company. Office manager even stated that they can charge more than what is stated on the EOB and that's the practice here in Reno??? She also told me that if you have 2 insurances they can charge whatever is the higher limit. Sounded so shady so I had to do my research and got in touch with my insurance, faxed all the charges and my initial payments so they could calculate how much our balance truly is. Jenny, the office manager, was rude and made me feel like I don't understand how this process is and might as well just pay for it. I'm no insurance expert but this is not my first time seeing a dentist so I stand my ground. First I tried to settle and explain to her about the EOB, she doesn't believe me so I asked the insurance rep to talk to her and again she was stubborn. This whole process started July 2021 and was settled March 2022. My insurance had to escalate my case to corporate. Just imagine the hassle of talking back and forth with the insurance company just to follow up with her. Nobody else in the office can settle this except her. There's no customer service, I feel like what they are trying to do is the bare minimum. This office won't try to go out of their way to help you. I know the amount they were over charging us is not much but what I was trying to prove is that they should not be doing that at all. I am willing to pay for the services I received , nothing more nothing less. Dr Swanson seemed nice but he needs to hire somebody who knows billing cause at the end of the day it is his name, his practice that's getting tarnished. read more

If it weren't for my insurance saying I couldn't be examined and have a procedure done same day I'm sure they would have pulled it right then and there. I moved to Reno about 10 years ago. Finding a new dentist wasn't easy. I came from a small town where all my doctors and dentists were so personable and the process was so familiar and welcoming. The short: I have never had a bad dental experience, but this was the first amazing experience I have had. From setting up my appointment Dr. Swanson called me the night before and left a detailed message of the plan for the following day. From the beginning of my visit (I made 3 in one day, x-ray, hygenist, and a cavity filling) to the end of my visit my comfort was always priority. Dr. Swanson explained everything he saw on my x-rays, talked about the course of action and asked for my input at every point. My cavity filling went by quickly and easily, and afterwards had me check for any irregularities and when mentioning there was a small piece he gladly rechecked, removed the small piece easily and i was on my way. Going to the dentist is not fun! Lets get that out of the way from the top. However, this place is great! We've been clients of Dr. Swanson since he took over for Dr. Peri (whom we were with for decades) and I can tell you you will not find a better dental office anywhere! The staff is wonderful, the work performed is gentle and correct and the fees are reasonable. It is a very pleasant place to be while one is waiting to see someone. The waiting room is comfy and inviting. Everyone is friendly, professional, and exceedingly competent at what they do. We wondered if we'd stay after Joe left, but I can say now that it has been a pleasure to be clients of this establishment. We're glad we stayed on. I am established with another dentist in town. However, when I suddenly developed a painful condition of my gums and mouth, and my dentist was out of town for the week. I was referred by my dental office to Swanson Dental Group. They were able to not only get me in same day, but within the hour! Everyone in the office was so welcoming, kind, and helpful. Dr. Swanson treated me with compassion and gentleness evaluating my painful mouth and was able to prescribe me something to help with the pain! To top it off, Dr. Swanson himself called me the next day to make sure I was able to get my prescription and that I was doing okay. Swanson Dental Group is just amazing! I woke up on a Friday morning with a very painful tooth and my "normal" Dentist could not see me until the following week! Panicked by the thought of an entire weekend filled with pain.... I took to google and searched all local Dentist Offices! I must have called 15 different Dental Offices and always got the same answer, "No available appointments!" I was so relieved when I finally found a last second appointment with Swanson Dental Group! They got me in only 30 minuets after my call to them! The staff is amazing and friendly and so welcoming! I am so very pleased with Dr. Swanson and his wonderful staff I am happy to now call them my "normal" Dentist!
