I've been going to Dr. Topham and Lakeside Dental for quite some time now. My first visit was back at their original location near Lakeside and a couple of years ago, they moved to the new location at Quail Park - not too far. They have lovely staff and even though I've moved a bit farther away, I still prefer to stick with this location instead of finding another dental office closer to me. Dr Topham and staff have been amazing since my first visit 4 years ago. I've been having a bad toothache for a couple of weeks now and I called yesterday for a emergency appointment today and they got me in! Dr. Topham decided to file down a couple of my bottom teeth to help and within a couple of days it started to feel better! To be honest I did let this bad toothache go on for a couple of months. Crystal at the front desk is such a lovely gal in all ways! She's always so sweet and helpful when I need to cancel or reschedule a appointment. I like to get my teeth cleaned 3 times a year just because I never, ever want to get fake teeth or veneers. Growing up I remember my daddy always reminding me to brush 2x per day. Weirdly our childhood dentist didn't encourage flossing I only started doing that in my late 20's. Everyone working in this office are all wonderful, kind and caring humans! Jackie my hygienist is the sweetest gal, sometimes I feel like she is part shrink because of all the stuff we chat about. She is very gentle when she cleans my teeth. A few years ago dentists started using a high powered water spray to clean your teeth instead of the original way of picking, scraping and buffing. When I first had this done (at a different office) it was too painful for my sensitive teeth, now I've come to realize it's the practitioner not the device. When Jackie uses it on me it's just perfect! I highly recommend this office where your needs will be more than taken care of and then some! Five stars read more

My previous dentist fired me after 7 years because he thought my insurance didn't pay enough, so I went online and searched for a dental office with very good reviews and I found Dr. Topham's office. I had a broken tooth and needed a bridge. All the staff in this office are so nice and helpful. Dr. Topham is the best. He makes you feel as comfortable as he can during lengthy procedures. In and out with a simple, no BS treatment plan. Extremely friendly, knowledgeable, caring and nonjudgmental. I have terrible anxiety and I'm not great at caring for my teeth so I wasn't excited about having to go anywhere to get taken care of. This place instantly made me feel comfortable and like they were there to take care of me and make me feel better. They are transparent about their cost. Of course I then insisted that my husband go and my two daughters. It was the first time my teen went to a regular dentist instead of a pediatric one and she said that Lakeside dental was the best experience she's ever had. They are breaking the stereotype and hopefully this will encourage her to continue taking care of her teeth as an adult. I cannot recommend this place more. They deserve a 10 star rating. read more

I am so happy with this dentist and the staff. I moved to Reno about 6 years ago and couldn't find a dentist that would start with the cleaning and go from there. Found Lakeside Dental and they did the cleaning and the dentist then looked at my teeth and we went from there. They are so friendly and not pushy at all, I love that. I need 3 small cavities filled and they told me when I am ready to give them a call (because some of the cost is out of pocket). They are all so happy and the office is so clean and comfortable. I'm new to the area because of school purposes. My parents called ahead to see if our insurance was accepted here and the ladies at the front were super helpful in making sure it was all set up. Personally, I love going to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned but have had some bad past experiences with dental hygienists. I could have not been more at ease with mine. She had precision when cleaning next to my gums. Never once was stabbed by a slip up nor felt sore after due to hard scrapping. On top of that a couple days ago I bit my cheek pretty hard and they had the Dr. take a look and even recommended a couple things I could do for my bite that was affecting that area. have been a patient for many years and can't recommend Dr. Topham and his team more. I first came to Lakeside after an awful experience with Kwong Dental. Dr. Kwong had told me every filling I had was bad, leaking and needed to be replaced. It didn't feel right to me, so I made an appointment with Dr. Topham for a second opinion. The day of my visit I was treated with such respect and care by everyone in the office. My teeth and fillings were carefully examined and all I needed was a good cleaning. Dr. Topham took the time to explain exactly why his assessment was what it was. I was free to ask questions, see my X-rays and have them explained, and generally treated like a partner in my own care which I really value. Everyone was extremely kind and welcoming and went out of their way to make my appointment a good one. Especially Jack. As the years have passed the high bar of my first experience has been maintained over and over again. I have been able to consistently expect an amazing check in and scheduling with Jack and great care from the entire team. I can't recommend Lakeside enough! read more

I recently moved to the Reno area within the last year, and had been on the search for a dentist to replace the one I had been seeing for over ten years on the east coast. I was not disappointed with my service in the slightest with Lakeside. Jack answered the phone and she was incredibly courteous, and while I was expecting to wait a while until the next opening, she was able to get me ab appointment in less than 2 weeks. She walked me through the process of filling out new patient paperwork at home and answered all the questions I had. They will ask you if you are okay with dogs. They have a sweet pup who will greet you at the door for pets and is absolutely delightful. However if you are not good with animals or dogs not a worry at all, they will ensure to move her into a separate space before your appointment (they ask all their clients this so no one is surprised). When I got in for my appointment they got me situated in a chair quickly, even as a new patient. All of the staff, from the assistant, to the lead dentist, to the woman who cleaned my teeth that day (Debbie!), everyone was friendly, and took great care to let me know everything that had happened with my teeth in the last year and a half since my last exam. Debbie was very thorough with cleaning and if at any point you experience pain or have any issues, she will switch to a different method and make sure you are comfortable. I used to hate the dentist. These folks actually make it as enjoyable of an experience as it can be. Glad to have found an amazing new office to use! read more

Dr. Alan Topham is an incredible dentist! I needed some really old metal fillings taken out and have new fillings redone but both teeth were broken/warn away & in bad shape from the old fillings =\ I went to 3 different dentists before I found Alan & boy was I so glad I waited! He was willing to fill the teeth instead of making me do crowns & onlays like every other dentist was pushing me into doing.. But I wanted to save these teeth as long as I could before they needed to be crowned ya know? Alan was very willing to do my idea & felt they were save able for now! I have a huuuuge dentist phobia & him & his whole staff really made me feel comfortable & he was so very gentle during the whole reconstruction process! I can now say with "complete confidence" that I have found my primary dentist for as long as I live in good old Reno Nevada!! Please give him a shot if you are looking for a reliable dentist that won't rip you off & stay away from kwong dentistry!! They tried to up charge me way more than originally quoted & they double billed me for a cleaning! I can't praise Lakeside Dental enough, even though they are not next to a lake. Being new to the area, I did not have a local dentist. I was having some dental issues and unfortunately for me, overnight they just got worse. I called around and either local offices did not take the largest dental insurance provider (which I have) or the earliest appointment I could get was 2027. When I called Lakeside, everyone was so pleasant and helpful. I explained my situation and within days I was in for an appointment. I knew I needed a deep cleaning, needles pain etc. However, Amber my hygienist was so professional, proficient and skilled at her job, I was immediately put at ease. The assessment was quick and painless. Dr. Topham came over to give me my examination. Seemed like a very nice man. He was fast, detailed and answered any questions I had, which was nominal. Everybody agreed, as I knew a deep cleaning was in order. My thoughts were; wow how long to I have to wait. BAM, the next day I was in the office and Amber took care of half of my grill. So gentle and skilled with the needles, kept me calm and it was 95% painless. Can't say enough about Ambers chair side manner, calm, so her kept me calm. Plus she has a great sense of humor. I will be back next month to finish the grill and I don't dread it. Everything from the nice ladies working up front, who handled my insurance and paperwork quickly and with no issues, to Amber, to Dr. Topham made this visit, which was no walk in the park, as painless and fast as possible. Even the cool dog who hangs out in the lobby was kind of a nice touch, a gentle mellow dog to pet and chill before the needle, lol. Can't say enough about this office, if you have to go to the toothman, this is the dental office to choose. read more

My last hygienist experience was not pleasant (at another dental practice), but the hygienist @Dr. Topham's office was very gentle, knowledgeable, and informative. I would have given 5 stars but the front office was a little disorganized and unprofessional. I hadn't gotten my teeth checked or cleaned since I was around 10 years old. I had a really bad tooth that would give me severe headaches and mouth pain. I found Lakeside Dental online after getting my new insurance. I was happy right after calling. They were welcoming and enthusiastic over the phone. They saw me almost immediately regarding the bad tooth. I got it removed and felt a million times better. Since then, I have gotten a filling or two and am in the process of deep cleanings on my teeth. I have one more section to be deep cleaned and a few more touch ups. Overall, they are warm, welcoming and make you feel extremely comfortable in the chair. My family has gone to see them as well, and I have told many friends looking for a new dentist about them. Loosing my teeth is a weird fear I have in life. I feel more confident now that I have a regular Dentist! :D read more

Twice in the past year these guys squeezed me in with obsessed teeth. This time, after my 10-day run of antibiotics my infection hadn't improved and got really bad over the weekend. The squeezed me in again to determine I needed stronger antibiotics, then didn't charge me. I'm also hard to work on due to back and neck fusions, and they adjust a lot to help me stay comfortable. read more

Dr Alan Topham is tops in my book! Lakeside Dental is such a nice change of pace in a dental office. I recently switched my dental provider and nervously met with Dr Topham. Those nerves lasted only moments -- a gentle touch, a clear explanation and a fun atmosphere -- no shaming, nothing scary and always clear answers to my questions and concerns about my comfort.
