I really liked Dr. Trevor Basta and all of the dental assistants!! I know there are some bad reviews here for a couple of the dentists so I suggest you do your research and request the right one. I suggest VERY MUCH SO, that you do NOT get dental work from Robert HOUCHIN. He is aggressive, angry, and takes it out in his patients. I, in my 43 years, have NEVER been afraid of going to the dentist. I have NEVER had a dentist give me shots as if I was being stabbed. I literally cried and felt like I'd been violated. I was terrified of Robert HOUCHIN, a dentist at the Sun Valley location. HOWEVER... I DO suggest you change your schedule, go to whichever location that you have to, to get Doctor Goodman. It would be worth your while to do whatever you have to do to NOT deal with, what I dealt with, with that violent "dentist" Houchin. Dr. Goodman cares about her patients. I was so grateful for her. An entire practice should NOT be knocked because of one bad apple. I have NEVER had my teeth so clean, as the Sun Valley location hygienist cleaned them. I have NEVER had better dental assistants (love you Jackee and Alexa) who made me feel safe when I was afraid after my experience with Houchin. My crown is perfect after the 2nd visit. Traumatic. I've never had the experience of jolting my head, grabbing the dentist's hand that was in my mouth, and pulling both my head and her hand away. To top today's experience, my crown popped off before the end of the same day. This was my second time that day back on the chair. The first time, they used a cement that didn't work.. my permanent crown was moving around in my mouth. I told them and consistently, they asked "are you sure it's moving? Are you sure?" Fast forward to the second procedure that day, she finally asked me "do you want anesthesia?" It felt like a drill stabbing into my gums (and I'm a rigorous flosser). My tears covered my face almost immediately and my nose was running as far as my tears were falling. My heart was racing, my body was shivering, and my feet became ice cold. She finally numbed the area. After waiting a minute, she proceeded to work on the tooth. I could still feel the cold air blowing against my tooth. The anesthesia did not kick in yet. Tears rolled down throughout the procedure. I sat in my car for 20 minutes to calm my nerves before I exited the parking lot. I honestly wished this was just a dramatic story but nothing of what I said above is exaggerated I'm honestly more worried that I wasn't the first person who's had this experience. Unlikely will I be the last. $2k procedure later and after this traumatic experience the permanent crown came off after flossing (less than 12 hours after the procedure). read more

I really hate writing bad reviews, especially when it comes to a private practice. However, felt that I should share my recent situation. I had a root canal and a crown put in place about 9 years ago. Aside from the crown being HUGE, it was a typical visit. Although, they did not explain to me that a nerve was going to be exposed. Being 9 months pregnant and finding out the hard way was not ideal. Fast forward to today's date. I am in excruciating pain, the entire area where the crown is has been inflamed and tender. I went to a different dentist today to see what the problem was. Apparently, when they had done my root canal, a large piece of the file broke off into the root canal and is now infected. Instead of removing it before the crown was put in place, they filled it and proceeded to place the crown. Now, I will have to get the tooth removed by a surgeon and have to get a bone graph to start the process s of an implant. read more

What a disaster. I had been going to this practice for more than ten years, and was happy with the provider for the most part, until the last years events caused me great damage. I had a crown done, the copayment was paid, and to my knowledge my account was $0 balance, the tooth became infected and I was hospitalized and two months and forty operations later I found myself in the ICU with a tracheotomy, intubation, a seven inch abdominal incision and an ileostomy. Apparently my colon was necrotic and smashed intestine as well from bacteria draining to there from the tooth. I spent 9 months total there and contracted Covid while there. after discharging I found out that the lab that made the crown had underquoted the cost and the dental practice had submitt the amount to collections and wouldn't let me schedu to discuss the small several hundred dollar discrepancy even though over the years tens of thousands had been paid without any problems. Now my credit score has dropped from the mid 700s to mid 600s. I am so very sad and disappointed that this is the outcome of my loyalty and many years of being a client of this practice. Be advised and aware if this. I hope no one EVER has to go through something this unacceptable for such an insignificant oversight in a quote discrepancy and lack of communication or attempt to resolve the problem before making a hardship even more painful. read more

Updating my review because I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED with this office. A couple days ago, I had an appointment scheduled at 12:30 for a deep cleaning. I made the appointment more than a month ago and was looking forward to getting it done. On the day of my appointment, as I was walking to my car to drive to the appointment, I received a call at 11:40 am telling me that my appointment was canceled because I hadn't confirmed it. !!!! I couldn't believe it. I had never had to confirm an appointment with this office before and I couldn't believe that they would call me on the day of the appointment to tell me that they canceled it. Giving 1star only because it will not allow me to rate a zero. My elderly Mom went in to have ONE tooth looked at for a possible cavity and they took it upon themselves to take extensive x-rays of eight of her teeth. She wears dentures so she only had 8 left. They confirmed it was completely covered by her insurance 100%, considered preventative care. She has since been billed the last 4 months for 50% of all x-rays because the x-rays were considered "extensive" by the insurance company. They refuse to take accountability of misinforming my mom. This is taking advantage of the elderly. Shame on them. read more

My crown came off 3 days before Christmas and they got me in the same day to recement my crown in place. I would have my teeth looking good for Christmas pictures and I am so grateful to them for it! Dr. Goodman also informed me about future work I am going to need done, which I was grateful for as my last dentist didnt say anything. They were so sweet and efficient at Desert Valley Dental. I will definitely be telling people to come here for their dental needs and will be back for my own as well. Went to Desert Valley dental to get a crown fix. Young girl took x-rays (very rude not friendly Didn't behave professionally) dentist Robin Goodman fail to see that the root canal was infected on the x-ray,she suggested to put a crown anyway, she done A fast check up and notice according to her another tooth that had a crown and was ready to come off. Then she suggested cleaning my teeth, that was a joke, cleaning only took seven minutes, talking about being fast, it appears to me that everything in this office is done fast. Later when I went back to get the loose crown repair she noticed another tooth needed repair. I told her hold on let's finish this first. They put the temporary crown two of them. That's when my nightmares began. For weeks the temporary crown keep coming off, some times from one day to the next. One day the temporary crown came off, I called the office the receptionist ask me to come in, I didn't know She was going to work on my tooth, yes she did. I was totally shocked.(I couldn't tell Who was running this office) Finally the crowns came in. The dentist again done a fast job and send me home. Weeks later noticed pain on one of crown she put in. called the office and ask me to come in. Done some grinding on the crown, it was then when she said the root canal needed to be checked, Are you kidding me! With the grinding of the crown she relieves some of the pain. My question is why She didn't ask for for the root canal to be checked first instead of ordering a $1,100 dollars crown. Some time later the pain came back. I went to see another dentist I ask desert dental to send my file to him When I went to the office Immediately the dentist saw the problem. Of course the tooth and the crown needed to be remove. This was my first visit and I was very impressed and satisfied. Very pleasant staff and efficient: got me in and out in a very short time. Morgan did one of the best cleanings I've ever had. My one quibble is that while you can use Care Credit, you pay more. Not an issue for cleaning: discount saved me $10. They offer a discount for paying in full in cash, but for a big job, you need the savings, but don't always have the cash. But they were very clear about financial options. If I could get the best price and still use Care Credit, it would be five stars. read more

I visited Desert Valley Dental for a routine yearly clean as a new patient. They insisted on doing a full mouth x-ray and complete exam prior to doing a teeth cleaning. I told them to only execute if my insurance covers it. They contacted my insurance and said everything would be fine. I later got a bill for $98 for the balance of what my insurance didn't pay. First, the dental technicians were rude, harsh on my teeth and didn't respond to my requests to be more gentle, then they went out of their way to conduct prep work that wasn't necessary and wasn't covered by my insurance. They except my insurance and were incredibly helpful in getting myself, and my family all appointments with their doctor.
