I haven't gone to the dentist is around 2 years, and I was very nervous. I got xrays, a cleaning and they were able to do all 3 of my fills same day. The assistants and doctor were all super kind to me (I had voiced my fears) and did their very best to accommodate me. They make my options clear and pricing. This experience soothed my fear of dentists and I am very proud of myself for going today. They did very good work and I would most definitely recommend to anyone, especially nervous patients. read more

I have been here a few times in the past few years. Mainly for regular cleanings but also for a crown replacement. I was super nervous about the replacement as I always don't love going to the dentist. They made the process very smooth. The creation of the crown was pretty fast as well. My regular cleanings have always gone well. I've always gotten someone who was gentle and always friendly. The office itself is clean and tidy. I appreciate all the natural light and the bright furnishings. Makes it less doom and gloom! read more

The service, from the front-desk folks to the dental assistant to the dentist themselves, was amazing. I believe the entire process from check-in, x-ray, exam, and cleaning was about 50 minutes. I don't have anything notable to say, which is actually good for once - you always hope the dentist isn't an exciting event. I live near this location and saw a banner that Sparks Modern Dentistry had up promoting a cleaning and X-ray special for $59.00. I'd recently moved back to the area and was in need of a dentist. I saw Erin McEvoy at Sparks Modern Dentistry in Sept. 2021 and had an average teeth cleaning. After giving me X-rays, Dr. McEvoy informed me that I had advanced gum disease and would need an appointment as soon as possible for a Scaling and Root Planing. She handed me a mirror and said I was at risk of losing my teeth because my gum disease was so advanced. This was shocking news to me, as I have always had good dental care and I floss daily. I have never before been told that I had gum disease. When I told the doctor that I flossed everyday, and asked how it was possible that I had advanced gum disease, she simply said, "It's hereditary." I was given a work up for my 2nd visit totaling $1274.00 and told to book it "as soon as possible." I was extremely upset with her assessment of my gums, in fact, I burst into tears as she was conveying her opinion to me. She handed me a tissue, but said nothing comforting. I found her to be very cold. When I left, I phoned my father who insisted that I get a second opinion. I took his advice, but had to wait for months to get an appointment at the busy office to where I was referred. I finally saw that dentist in January of 2022. The Dentist who gave me my 2nd opinion has been in practice for over 20 years. He said my gums were perfectly healthy and that I had no gum disease. He had "no idea" why I would be told that I needed a gum planing and scaling. He did say I had loss of gum and referred me to a gum surgeon. I saw the gum surgeon in February of this year. He confirmed that I need to have surgery to replace loss of gums (from over-vigorous brushing) but he also expressed disbelief that anyone would tell me I had advanced gum disease. Additionally, I called Sparks Modern Dentistry two weeks before my 2nd opinion from the new dentist and asked that they send over my x-rays. I was assured that my x-rays would be sent that week. When I got to my appointment, the new dentist never received my X-rays. One of the staff called Sparks Modern Dentistry and they were told that I was never a patient there! So, I called them directly, and since I had my paperwork from Erin McEvoy in my hands, I told them my account number. Then, they fumbled about to explain that they were confused and sent over my X-rays; not in the large format in which they were taken, but in an extremely small file that made it difficult for my new dentist to read. What kind of business practices are these? Pretending and denying that I was ever a patient? Refusing to send X-rays? False claims of care needed? I am so pleased that I didn't take Erin McEvoy's incorrect assessment and spend $1274.00 for something I absolutely did not need. I can not recommend Erin McEvoy as a dentist because of these experiences. read more

I'm not one to willingly post reviews but I think this is a time to break that pattern. Sparks Modern Dentistry is absolutely the best dental office in town and honestly one of the best I've been to in a while. I actually live 30 minutes away, but will gladly spend the extra time to pass closer offices so that I may go to this one. Not only do they have the most modern technology and equipment, but their staff is probably some of the nicest and most friendly there is. They are very professional, always take the time to explain every procedure and the office is spotless every time I'm in. You can tell that Dr. McEvoy is passionate about what she does and that she does care for her patients. They handled a severe dental emergency for me even when my own provider wouldn't (and several others would not as well). I hate to share too much (because scheduling is never a real issue with them either!) but I feel like everyone needs to know how awesome this office is! read more

Been with different Dentists, and they were all nice up to a certain level so I have no negative comments. I have to give the location the top props especially my hygienist Karina who made me very comfortable. Growing old I find myself struggling with life anxieties so my mind doesn't stay calm. Now to appreciate Karina for making me so comfortable I was calm through the whole procedure. My previous experience where I would be so anxious having trouble breathing so forget to lie down with high beam lights in my face. I wanted to run outside to gasp air. I love this office! Dr. McEvoy is great. I had to have a bridge cut and a tooth removed recently. She was so gentle and made a very nervous patient (me!) feel very comfortable. They even brought me a blanket. I really appreciate that they are honest and no-pressure with giving you estimates for services. I got two crowns from this dentist, one was a root canal first. Four months later and im at a new dentist due to bad service from this office on a financial side of there business. Poor communication, between ins and what youll end up owing. I went to a mew dentist ( which is wonderful) both my crowns have cavities!!!! Total mess. They should honor fixing them, but im afraid to even let them work on my teeth anymore. Pretty bad when im willing to pay a new dentist to fixxthete bad mess. Please do your homework and make sure you know exactly what uour paying for. I dont recommend them at all. read more

I was traveling and happened to be in the Sparks area when I had a dental emergency :( I booked an emergency appointment and was able to get in really quickly. Went in as new patient 2022. My permanent bridge cement broke loose on one tooth. The dentist, Erin McEvoy was very nice with a gentle touch and advised me that in her experience the tooth underneath was most likely bad. I should expect extraction, implant, and new bridge be required. $$$$$. I scheduled the work. Erin proceeded to cut the existing bridge in half for easier removal. Once off " Oh.... the tooth is good, just the cement came loose." Ruined a perfectly good bridge and then tried to charge me $3000. for a new bridge ! We negotiated price down to $500 and Erin did a good job of it. I did not expect them to work for free, but still left me with a bad impression. Ok, now it's 2023 and I went in for a tooth with crown that was temperature sensitive. Erin examined the tooth and said the nerve was bad and needed root canal and new crown. Ok. Erin does not do root canals only crowns. Ok So I go in and see the root canal specialist. I am told I do not need root canal. To use sensadyne toothpaste. Ok great. Hmmmm. Erin has a great bedside manner, but I do not have confidence with her practical knowledge. Office staff is so so and prices are a bit high. Time for a new Dentist who knows what they are doing most of the time. read more

The two stars is for the clean office. This office has continued to baffle me, which is why will no longer come here. My first visit went normally and seemed nice. I don't care for the online portal and needing to check into every appointment. My second visit came around and I was told I need another set of X-rays. I told them I had them at my first appointment of the year and did not need another. I was promptly told that the doctor could refuse to see me and I wouldn't be charged for the X-rays. I am mid 30s and have been going to the dentist regularly, since childhood. Never have I ever been requested to take two sets of X-rays a year, unless having issues with my teeth. I said I will not be doing more than one set of X-rays a year unless needed. They chose to continue with my appointment. I have seen two different dentists there and I have no complaints in their service. I have seen three different hygienists. The last one I saw was so aggressive with my cleaning and it was by far the worst experience. In addition to my experience, my husband experienced the same issue with the X-rays. He has now received a bill for the second set of unnecessary X-rays. The insurance only pays for one set a year unless otherwise necessary. If you want to try and bill the insurance twice, that is on you. We will not pay for services we were told there would be no charge for. I can see what I believe is going on here and we will no longer be patients. read more

Think twice before going here. My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed by a Dr Charles Calder, complete mistake. My daughter was not given proper sedation, she felt and heard everything. When she began to cry during the removal, the staff told her to calm down and continued talking about their Christmas plans. The so-called office manager is rude, and not very customer service orientated at all. I am not sure where all the positive reviews come from but, I did not have a very positive experience. I should have canceled my appt. once we started having issues with the staff. read more

As far as actual dental work they are good. The front office is an absolute nightmare. I called to schedule a root canal and crown at the same time and was told they require $100.00 deposit which needs to be paid when making the appointment. About 3 days before my appointment, they call to confirm and ask if I want to schedule the crown at the same time as the root canal. I try to explain that I thought I had already done this when I made the appointment originally. I was told there was just a note saying I want both done at the same time and I was also told I needed pay a deposit since they have no record of this being paid yet. I explain that I have an email receipt and it was paid when the appointment was made. At this point I was told I had to provide the receipt as proof when I came to my appointment. I arrive for my appointment at 8:10 am my appointment was for 8:15 and I am told I did not pay the deposit, so I show the receipt and take a seat. I am told that I called the wrong office and paid the deposit to a different office that is why they have no record. This was impossible since I had made the appointment with this office and paid while on the phone making that appointment. After they get it figured out that they made the mistake yet still wanted to blame me I should have walked out right there. I am then told I need to sign for the estimated cost, which they are now saying is more than the written estimate I have. When questioned on this they say it is a mistake in the computer and I am told my estimate will be the cost. I wait until 8:50 and finally ask how much longer I will be waiting; at this time, they tell me my appointment is for 8:45. I show them the email with the 8:15 appointment time I have and again this should have been a red flag to walk out. I am taken in the back quickly at this point, but no dentist comes to see me until 9:30 the procedure takes 45minutes and I am moved to another room for the crown. After all the work is done, I have been there for roughly 4 1/2 hours. I go to the front desk to pay, and they give me my total which somehow is again more than the quoted estimate. At this point I am just over this entire experience and feel as if they are actually doing this on purpose at this point since I expressed how unhappy I was with the service and lack of accuracy and accountability from the front desk. My exact words at the end were this is a complete shit show. They did offer me a tooth whiting kit for my troubles which I declined. I paid my bill and will never be back which is a shame because I do like the dentist and other staff, but the incompetence of the front office is too much to deal with. read more
