24 Jan 2019 UPDATE After my tooth extraction back in March 2018; I've continued to have my teeth periodically cleaned by Misty Baker. I only have 10 teeth & am pleased with the personal attention & thoroughness of Misty's expertise. I look forward to my next scheduled appointment with Misty on 24 May 2019. ================================================ On 6 Feb 2017 I arrived at the appointed time & had a tooth extracted, to my satisfaction. 17 Mar 2018, a Saturday morning, I arrived unannounced, no appointment, & had been in pain since Tuesday. The staff readily got me into X-Ray dept for the preliminary. Once seated in the dental chair, a young woman came in & introduced herself as Dr. Melanie Kim. First thing I noticed is she has small hands which is what I want for my child-size mouth. I'm 73 years old & know my teeth are nearing the end of the road. I have no front teeth just a few molars for chewing, all of which are in poor condition. I reasonably expect all my teeth will need to be extracted within the next 2 years, at most all of which I explained to Dr. Kim who listened attentively. I further explained I'd been in pain since Tuesday & presently had so much pain on the upper left side molars I was afraid my head wouldn't fall off. Additionally, the gums of my 3 molars on the left side were tender to the touch. She asked for her Dental Assistant to take Xrays of the upper two molars on the left side. After examining the teeth & looking at the Xrays, Dr. Kim agreed that trying to "save any teeth" is not a good option. Dr. Kim quickly agreed that one, perhaps both upper molars on the left side may need to be extracted & that the Xrays appear to show an infection inbetween both teeth. Only one tooth was sensitive to my tongue & Dr. Kim's instruments. Her prognosis was that the one tooth definitely needed to be extracted, so I was anethesised & readied for the extraction. I was pleased that Dr. Kim appeared to know what she was doing, no hesitation, no apprehension, she dug right in. I requested & was given a 2nd shot of novacane. Dr. Kim extracted the tooth in what seemed to me to be a relatively short time. She confirmed that there was an infection between the two teeth AFTER the one tooth had been extracted, but that it appeared the other tooth was unaffected by the infection. I wasn't given any pain prescription. Dr. Kim told me to alternated between Extra Strength Tylenol & Ibuprofen every 4-6 hours, however, I didn't need that much medication. For the first time since Tuesday, I went to bed sedated & slept soundly. When I awoke Sunday morning my mouth & teeth were back to normal, no pain, no sedation, no tender gums around the 3 molars in my jaw on the left side. I have an appointment on Friday to see Dr. Melanie Kim whom I consider extremely well qualified whose expertise I highly value. At that time we'll discuss options for further treatment. I was lucky to draw Dr. Kim on my unscheduled, EMERGENCY walk-in. I've read all the reviews for Spanish Springs Modern Dentistry. I noticed Dr. Kim has several favorable reviews dating back to 2015, which means she has been there for 3+ years, which means she is doing something RIGHT for her employer & her patients. At no time did Dr. Kim try to sell me on more expensive treatments. Shame on me for not including the names of all other "Staff" who were all courteous, helpful, & professional. I cop a plea of being in pain. I will update this review after my upcoming Friday appointment with Dr. Melanie Kim. read more

Front office is so horrible. The worst attitude with one girl. Went in for my appt to find they had the doors locked and in a meeting. She yelled at me through the door and pointed at a sign I could barely see through the tinted double pane windows. The need an entire new front staff. This is poorly managed. read more

I have been going to Sparks Modetn Dentistry for my dental care for over four years. The office is always clean and quiet. Which is good for a dental office no screaming allowed. LOL. The dentists and hygienists are the best. The administration team is also very courteous and professional. I made my first apt. here online. I showed up for my apt. And the receptionist told me they had cancelled my apt because I didn't confirm my apt. What!? I've never heard of this before anywhere that if you don't confirm they just cancel your apt. Most places charge a fee if you don't show up. I had a crown recommended and a new crown installed. For these two visits they charged my insurance $1569 for xrays! I dont know why they had to take two 3D trays 9 days apart, maybe because they charged $404 for each of these. I would not recommend this dentist office. Huge waste of time. I wish I would have read reviews before going here. One of the front desk girls was extremely condescending and rude. Made us return after initial check up 2 hours prior for cleaning and we walked in 3 min late after already doing electronic check in and front desk mentioned they have a 5 min grace period so they won't see us. After I said we are within that grace period she proceeded to say they won't see us anyways. Save yourself the time and money. read more

Giant waste of time. Made me sit around with 2 small kids for 15 minutes just to tell me they aren't even going to do a basic cleaning unless I pay out of pocket for their more expensive cleaning. Never have I ever left a dentist without a basic cleaning before. WASTED my ENTIRE morning. I forgot to add the terrible attitude of the entire front desk staff. The phone calls before the visit was rude to both my husband and myself in separate calls. Then I arrived and I got stared at like I was bothering them there because I asked for the WiFi password. Also, not even a hello or a smile. Then when I call for my records because I wasted a preventive visit on them, I am told a different story. Rip off. They just want to upsell you on a more expensive cleaning that isn't covered by insurance and when that doesn't work won't even do a basic cleaning. Did I mention they had me sit there for 15 minutes with a stupid bib on to tell me they weren't even going to do anything that I was there for? Very disappointed for the past few years going here. My family and I have been cancelled last minute (day before and even the day of our appointment) with an explanation that the dentist is not available. I understand cancellations happen, but in more than 2-3 occasions is unacceptable. The biggest frustration I have is after seeking out a better dentist, we all were told and showed with the clear z-rays that we have multiple cavities! So disappointed and frustrated that the 6 month cleanings and care were really not doing much for our teeth. I DO NOT RECOMMEND going here at all!!! read more

Trust your gut and trust in Yelp reviews if you see the same type of review over and over again. I moved to Sparks from Las Vegas 6 months ago and needed to find a new dentist. I have had a routine 6 month cleaning my entire adult life (I am 35). I have never missed a routine cleaning and have never had any issues what-so-ever. Every 6 months on the dot, I get my teeth cleaned. I found Spanish Springs Modern Dentistry from my insurance's website (and unfortunately, I did not read their Yelp reviews first). It was a little red flag that when I called to make a teeth cleaning appointment with them, that they had next day appointments available. Which is a little weird because usually dentist offices are booked out months in advance. This place had wide open availability. Inside the dentist office, it was very nice, and everyone was very friendly. They took my X-rays and then sat me down in the chair. Immediately, this place took a concerning turn. The Hygienist explained she was going to check my teeth and gums and said as soon as she would be finished, "the billing person would be in to go over any out-of-pocked expenses you will be incurring that your insurance won't be paying for". I thought that was really weird to be ready to let me know that there most likely will be extra costs with this visit, more than just a routine cleaning. At that point I KNEW I would be seeing this "billing person". And I was right! The Hygienist went through my mouth and found lots of gum disease and the start of several gum infections. She let me know my teeth were in need of a deep deep cleaning, because of the severe plaque and tarter build up. I told her I was really shocked by this, because I had just been seen by my Las Vegas dentist, 6 months to the day for just a regular routine cleaning, and I didn't need a deep cleaning then. I have never in my life needed a "deep cleaning". I floss, waterpik, brush, use mouth was twice a day. I am a very stay up on my teeth kind of person. The billing person came in and explained my insurance does not cover a deep cleaning, and the cash cost to this deep cleaning was $290. I asked if I could just get a regular cleaning, and skip the deep cleaning - so that my insurance would at least cover the regular cleaning. The billing person told me that no, once they know I am in need of a deep cleaning, they would not be able to do just a regular cleaning. I told them I would like to get a second opinion - and I am doing that. I am going somewhere else to see how my teeth are, because it seems really sketchy and a little money hungry of this dentist office. I left the office without a cleaning. This was a middle of the day appointment, and the office was dead. They had no one waiting to be seen. If you read through other reviews, oddly this same review has been left by other people. I hate knowing there are places like this out there, and I hope that others see this review before making an appointment at this office. read more

I scheduled a dental cleaning for today but when I arrived they refused to do a cleaning unless I went through an 1.5 hour full exam because "they need to know what type of cleaning to do." No you want the exam so you can pitch treatment - pure greed or you are too stupid to look in my mouth and determine "general or deep" (a full set of X-rays while I'm sure are lucrative are hardly necessary to polish and scrape). So in conclusion - greedy or stupid, neither of them qualities I desire in a medical professional. .... and FYI the ADA recommends that healthy adults with no major apparent dental problems only need to get x-rays about every 2-3 years - not before a cleaning! I could of had my last X-rays send over, you could of just cleaned my teeth, and kept a patient/avoided a bad review. This place is why medical and dental costs are so expensive in the U.S. SHAME!! read more

This place is scam. Go to another dentist. Get a second opinion. I guarantee it will be half the price or less they try to charge you. Also they don't keep up on their billing. So if you have a payment plan make sure you check because they will keep drafting your bank even after it's paid in full. Then they'll tell you they can't refund your card and you have to wait for a check in the mail. Ridiculous. I will never return here. read more

Place is an absolute joke. I made an emergency appointment with Dr. Christian Peralta at 8:00 to have a tooth extracted; never even got seen by him. At 9:00 Michelle Jancso finally took his place and said she can't do anything, here's a prescription and a bill for $485. Good luck with that. read more

I would agree with everyone reviewing this place. When I tell friends that we paid $10,000 for one implant they are totally shocked. When I went in for a cleaning they wanted to up-sell me an additional procedure even though I have always had excellent dental health. When I tried to talk about it I wasn't listened to. We now need to find a new dentist in the area that is more reasonable. read more

June 14th 2024 UPDATE***** A month after going here, I went to a new dentist and got my cleaning. They had no idea why I was told I would need a deep cleaning because they said it was absolutely unnecessary. The hygienist completed my regular cleaning in 40 minutes and commented on my gum health being great. I was also told I did not need a root canal. Please save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. May 14th, 2024: To be honest, I'm not quite sure what I think of this establishment. My personal experience with the receptionists and all of the people in the back were great. Everyone was nice and light hearted. I came in as a new patient for a cleaning. I've had cleanings every 6 months for the last 10 years and have never needed a "deep cleaning" that insurance doesn't cover that they recommended. I had a filling in one of my molars that the dentist said needed to be redone. I have had no issues with this tooth at all but trusted the dentist. They removed the filling and did an onlay which I understood as just a different type of filling. Unfortunately, since then, I am unable to chew on the tooth due to sensitivity and have extreme sensitivity to anything touching it including my tongue, heat or cold or even room temperature water. I have to tilt my head to the side to make sure nothing touches it when drinking anything. I went back after 2 weeks because I knew it wasn't just healing and sensitive but that something wasn't right. I went in and they looked at the bite which was fine and then was immediately told I'll need a root canal as the filling was close to nerves and they could have been damaged or touched during the onlay process. I'm quoted $800-1200 for the root canal. Keeping in mind, I had no issues with this tooth at all prior to the onlay. I'm going to get a 2nd opinion on all of their recommendations but if I could go back in time I'd of **just stayed away and gotten a 2nd opinion before letting them touch any of my teeth**. I also would have looked at the yelp reviews as it seems many other people have had similar experiences. Very disappointing to be writing a review as another regretful patient as we pay a lot of money for these services and are supposed to trust the "professionals". I would recommend looking elsewhere, asking people you know for recommendations and getting 2nd opinions before allowing them to do anything to your mouth. read more

so i wish i would have looked at the recommendations before hand but i listened to my gut and looked elsewhere for a second opinion. I had a new patient visit with dr. Florence and she off the bat was not friendly, she checked my teeth and gums within 5min and came out with i had gum disease and needed two crowns. i've never even had gingivitis before. she didn't explain anything and just sent the billing lady in. I am so happy i didn't go forward with anything, i did not trust her whatsoever and looked for a second opinion. i got a new dentist a week later and he is amazing. i dont need two crowns and i dont have gum disease. please reconsider this office they're not in it for your well being. look into a family dentistry who is locally owned and family operated!! read more

This is not a welcoming clinic. The front desk staff always seems angry and severely lack customer service skills. They are also not very HIPPA compliant as I overheard them talking loudly about a patient in the open office area directly in front of the lobby. All of the staff and Dr. Christian Peralta were very courteous. And their concern for my health and well-being was very appreciated as I had a broken tooth that needed to come out and was infected. Dr. Christian Peralta was very thorough and swift with the extraction. And the Techs that were assisting or very detailed, when explaining how the procedure works, and the after care. I recommend if you want a excellent and reputable dentist at a good location with caring people this is the place. read more

I would consider going somewhere else. The front staff was very nice but the hygienists and dr I saw were curt and stayed in the room maybe 4 mins each. Neither of the them very kind. The glasses they gave me to wear were filthy. They both tried to up sell services and pushed to do dental work that insurances won't cover. Just be careful of the prices. They say they will take your insurance but they won't use the products your insurance will pay for. read more

I just had a root canal by their endodontist last week. It was a very long process and I believe the dentist did a good job. She drilled through my crown and placed a temporary filling which should have lasted 2-4 weeks. The filling fell out during the first week. (I was very careful not to chew on that side) When I called to have the temporary replaced, I was told they don't replace temporary fillings. Hard to believe after this expensive procedure they don't take care of their patients. Unfortunately, I haven't determined who I want to complete a new crown. POOR customer service... read more

I wish I would've read the reviews before I came here to get my wisdom teeth pulled. The customer service is horrible. They are not nice and took a long time to get back to me. I paid for 4 but ended up only getting 3, instead of 4, teeth pulled so I was owed a refund. I asked for a detailed receipt after the service was complete. They estimated my insurance would pay $1200 but they paid $1288 instead. This place won't give me the extra $88 my insurance paid (based on the detailed receipt they gave me of my charges!). Unbelievable. My insurance paid them 12/31/24 and they told me it would take about 2 weeks to get my $ returned (not the extra $88 though). I told them that we are in 2025, checks don't come through the Wells Fargo Pony Express stagecoaches anymore! They finally issued part of my overpayment after I called, sent MyChart messages, and emailed them multiple times. This place is a rip off and the office staff is horrible. Sad because this bad service will affect the dentists and hygienists who work here. read more

On three separate occasions and with little notice, they have cancelled my appointment. The office staff is unpleasant and unhelpful. The office manager, Jonathan, is the worst offender, rude and unprofessional to deal with. Our initial appointment we were made to wait 15 mins before being seen. Fine I get that it's business and well it was our first visit. My mother is handicapped and it is a chore for her to get out but it's understandable. Her second visit was much worse, her appointment was at 8 am I called at 7:50 to let them know pyramid way was backed up and I might be a few minutes late. Sarah the receptionist stated ok we have a 5 min grace period. I said ok whatever, I pulled in at 8:05 on the dot, took my mother out of the car and walked in, we waited for two minutes while the "girls" were on the phone. At 8:08 we were told to go see the guy on the other side of the partition he proceeded to tell us we were late and they couldn't see us. After a few words he went to talk to the dentist and she said no..... we were there at 8:05 the office was empty literally no other customer there...... once I said a few words we walked out and Sarah with her smug ass comment "have a good day". After reading some reviews it sure seems like the front staff is a problem for this office maybe Sarah should go find work somewhere else where customer service isn't needed. I wouldn't recommend going to this office to anyone, especially with Dr. Christian Peralta. I was told after getting X-rays that I should get my wisdom teeth pulled, that my teeth would eventually become over crowded which could cause a tooth to rub against the other, creating a hole and I could potentially lose a tooth. This was obviously worrying so I made the soonest appointment that I could. Their surgeon flies in from Vegas once a month so I couldn't make the appointment until 3 months later. I worried about my teeth but with a 1 yr old, my work schedule and my husband's work schedule it was difficult to get in as it was. My husband had to take 24 hours of sick time, I had to miss work and we had to get a babysitter because I wasn't sure how I'd feel after getting my wisdom teeth pulled. When I got to my appointment 3 months later, I waited for the surgeon for 20 minutes before his assistant came in the room and asked "so why are you here today?" I was confused and shocked by the question and said, "because I need to get my wisdom teeth pulled." Then I was questioned by the surgeon as to why I was there. I said that I was told by Dr. Peralta that I needed to get my wisdom teeth pulled and the surgeon went on to educate me about how this procedure didn't make sense. I explained what Dr. Peralta had told me during my cleaning and he contradicted everything the dentist said. Additionally, the Surgeon said that I'm too too old to have procedure done, that if he did the surgery there's a good chance he could hit one of my nerves and cause permanent nerve damage and the risk wasn't worth it. The surgeon also said that after 30 your teeth do not move anymore so what Dr. Peralta said didn't make sense. Additionally, his assistant said if you're over 30 years old insurance does not cover the procedure so it would be a voluntary procedure. I'm very thankful that the surgeon was honest and didn't operate on me with this voluntary, unnecessary procedure that could have caused permanent damage to my face. So, my husband and I took time off of work, lost sick hours, got a babysitter and went to this appointment to get annoyed looks from someone questioning me about everything we were originally told. Don't go here - they're just trying to get as much money as possible without thought for the patient. read more

BEWARE- I went here for a dental cleaning and to have one of my tooth pulled. The front people are nice- but the supervisor - dark haired lady- I think her name is Courtney - is definitely a pushy scammer. I came on my appt time- they did X-rays and checked my teeth - dr Peralta confirmed that yes I needed tooth pulled. I said ok go ahead. They went in and did all the numbers- I said I just want tooth pulled but they insisted I get same day transplant. I said no- we are buying a house, Courtney the manager was at the back of us listening to the conversation and told the woman talking to me "here I'll help you with this one." She said that the dr putting in the transplant is here on site and will be his last day since his wife is giving birth. I said - no, I've had tooth pulled before and I don't need transplant right away as you can get it done down the road. She insisted that it needs to be done. By this time, I've been there for more than two hours and had a feeling if I don't say yes, they would not pull my tooth- And I SHOULD HAVE WALKED OUT right then and there. She even have the audacity to ask me if I want to apply for their credit card. No thanks! I ended up getting the implant and a $5000 bill with a 1500 out of pocket bill!!!!!! Mind you, I am doubled insured- I work for the state of NV and my husband at Tesla. I cancelled my husband's appointment and will NEVER EVER go back here! I will let all of my family and friends know how bad it is here and make sure they do not get scammed. Do Yourself a favor and truly read the reviews- the good ones are mostly from ghost yelpers that only has one review- which is for this dentistry! As for Dr Peralta- I was looking forward to meeting him as I thought he would be good based on reviews- my goodness, what a let down. So young but so out of passion already! Staff don't respect him--- one of the staff asked him for money change and he didn't have it- she said 'then what kind of doctor are you??' At one point he lowered my head rest without and warning or courtesy it took me by surprise! If you ain't happy- move somewhere! I will find my receipt and post it here- it is true they say- they will upsell you for things that you don't need!! I have a feeling they get commission! This has been one of my worst experiences, a total ripoff. They messed up my appointment at 2:30 and they try to blamed on me when they were the one that make the mistake. One of the the front desk ladies was very rude she even threatened me to charge me 300$ more if I show late again when they were the one who make the mistake. I have a paralyzing fear of the dentist. From having 4 teeth pulled when I was awake as a kid. Years I was too scared to even say the word let alone thinking about going in. Dr. Chris P. Made sure I was on the proper medication that I didn't remember a thing. I took a pill before I had someone drive me in. And that was the only thing I remembered. I promise you will not be let down going here. I have only had Chris work on me, so I can only comment on him. But the staff is friendly and super accommodating. We had an agreed upon amount for getting my sons Wisdom teeth removed. We paid the amount up front in full. A few months later, they sent us another bill that we owed an additional $240. We told them over and over that we paid the agreed upon amount up front. They tried to say it was the amount that insurance was supposed to chip in but I know that isn't true because the type of insurance we had was just to get us a negotiated rate for services. They sent the bill to collections so it has been really frustrating. It's really sad that they did this because I would have given them a good review otherwise. Very frustrating. read more

5 min cancellation policy that was never explained to me. Arrived at 802 for an 800 called to let them know I was running behind. Front door has a massive lock on it and two other customers were waiting out front of the main door. we all thought the door was still locked. 3 min pass and I pull the door, in we go to all be told that we are too late for our appointments and will all have to reschedule....... what a joke. read more

I scheduled a dental cleaning. They took an enormous amount of xrays. They recommended a deep cleaning and refused to do a regular cleaning. I called back a week later to try to schedule a regular cleaning and was informed that since the dentist recommended the deep cleaning ( more expensive and not covered by insurance), they could not schedule me for a regular cleaning. I complained to my dental insurance but it was useless. The extra xrays were not covered under my plan and I am being charged. I sent in a complaint to the Dental Board. I have never experienced this level of bad service at a dental office. read more

Worst place ever. Had an appointment for a Saturday & got a confirmation call on Thursday. I returned the call and confirmed the appointment, no issues. I show up Saturday and the receptionist informs me the dentist cannot see me as I did not confirm the appointment. Informed her I spoke to someone on Thursday around 3 and confirmed it. Receptionist all of a sudden got super rude with me and said there was no notes about it therefore it was not confirmed. I attempted to show her the call from Thursday but she kept shutting me down and said I should've confirmed it . Never coming back to this place. Do you like having to reschedule a dentist appointment 5 times because either the dental hygienist or dentist or both aren't available? If so, this is the spot for you. I have quite the commute, about 1.5 hours, to get to my dentist. On several occasions, either the day before or the day of, I have gotten a call to inform me either the dentist, the dental hygienist, or both, are unavailable. This lack of consideration did it for me and I will no longer be their patient. In the office, everything is clean. The employees are professional, when they show up, and their work is pretty good. However, I cannot overlook the fact that, more than 4 times, my appointments have been canceled. I understand, people get sick, life happens, but there's such a lack of wiggle room to get me in with another dentist/hygienist and they do not have a small and exclusive staff. They have quite the staffing package here. I really hope they look into their scheduling issues because this is a great way to enhance patient loss. read more
