It really does not get any better than this! We arrived at 6:00 PM to enjoy Half Price Burger Night at the Rec Room. We were warmly greeted by Kelly. My husband had his favorite - a blue cheese burger with French fries. My brother and I decided to go big and order the Black n Blue Burger. He had his blackened - I had mine plain. Both were topped with melted Bleu Cheese Crumbles, Sautéed Onion, Mushrooms and Roasted Red Peppers. We both decided on Sweet Potato Fries with our burgers. The burgers we ordered were cooked and prepared to our specifications and were delicious. The fries were crispy, not greasy, and seasoned perfectly. Both Kelly and Rich took excellent care of us. Spent some time here before a concert/show next door at The Recher, which seems to have the same owners as this place. Bouncer at the door checking i.d.'s (saw him turn a couple girls down for having fakes). They serve a larger than standard size bar menu and we tried out several different items as well as cocktails and some craft draft beers. A Blue Hawaiin or Old Fashioned Whiskey cocktail is priced at 9 dollars each, but are served in full size pint glasses! I had a Rec Room Club Sandwich with sweet potato fries (see my pic) and my wife had a grilled Reuben and waffle fries. Both of them were insanely huge! Absolutely do not order an appetizer if you're going to get a sandwich or a burger. I literally could only eat half of my club sandwich and fries and I am generally a big eater. My club sandwich with s.p. fries was 12 bucks and it was a great value. It also tasted great and was made fresh with what seemed like Boar's Head meats, or something of that quality. I was very, very impressed and also quite surprised. It's a bar, so it's not the cleanest place in the world (see their bathrooms), but it's got surprisingly good food. I had a Troeg's IPA and 1 other craft pint (I forget which one) and they were 8 bucks each. I would definitely return here for the same reason...to eat and pre-game a bit before a show next door at The Recher. We visited The Rec Room last night to catch Indeadnation (local Grateful Dead cover band) and had a blast! Wear your tie-dye and join the tribe every first Friday during good weather. We sat at the bar (of course) and had the Black & Bleu burger and the chicken quesadilla. And OMG the sweet potato fries are So Good here. We had excellent service at the bar and enjoyed the whole Towson-y vibe in the shadow of the old Hutzler's building. Be sure to tip the band and your server! read more

Stopped in to watch the Ravens game... they had the game on w/ sound so that was great. Sat at the bar and service was good. Ordered wings (which were half off, yay!) and crab dip. I guess they were out of the pretzel bites that come w/ the crab dip so they sub'd fried pita chips. Crab dip was a little salty but otherwise food was good. The people who work here are absolutely terrible. Me and my friend were in town from a different state and wanted to have a fun night out so we went to go into Rec Room, the bouncer grabs my friends ID doesn't even look at her face or the id, and just shakes his head no. Does the same thing to me, claiming our IDS were fake. I suggest actually training your employees on being able to see if IDs are real or not, instead of assuming they are fake because they are from a different state. He told us to go check with someone else in the back and they were saying the same thing, that they were fake. They were so rude about it too and wouldn't tell us why they thought they were fake. We went to a bar after that had scanners they scanned our IDS in and let us in easy, unlike Rec Room where they have bouncers who are clearly stupid. read more

I had not been here in 6 years and was surprised at how nice rec rooms patio seating is . It took a little while before a server actually came to my table to take my girlfriend & I order considering it was only 2 other tables there , but I also considered that this was the first week back after the covid 19 shut down so i had to be patient, a little more than usual . Food was amazing . We got wings , Cesar salad and the buffalo calamari . Drink were great . Considering they got busy as time went along . All the servers on the floor pitched in to help all the tables as a joint effort which I loved . Everything from silver ware , to table sanitation , to paperless menus and bathroom were all in practice with the new protocols and guidelines . Proper mask were being worn by employees and 6 ft social distancing rule was followed by all tables on the patio . I will definitely be back read more

The best bar to go to if you're underage !!! They'll let you right in with your fake id. Don't even worry. If terrible music and rude bartenders are your thing, look no further. The only bouncer that does his job is the one who sits at the front. The line of underage kids to get in the back entrance stretches a quarter mile every Thursday and Saturday. The most recent time I came here I dropped my ID on the floor and the next night I called and asked about it and they told me they had it. Two days went by and I asked one of my friends if he could pick it up for me. He drove there and tried to get it for me but the bartender refused to let him pick it up, I guess the policy is that it has to be whoever's ID it is. He asked why and she told him that it could be a fake which is why he can't get it. Make it make sense please. 2/3 of the people that patronize this place aren't even 21, their id is either someone else's real Id or a fake.I drove 30 minutes out of my way today to come get it, and they're telling me that they don't have it. Can't speak on the food because we just came here for drinks after eating at the point. The ambiance here is pretty awesome and the outside (covered) area is perfect! On a normal evening of shenanigans with my comrades, the Rec Room in Towson is the perfect spot! Upon entering, I am greeted by the smell of stale beer and hard liquor that only a true college town bar can produce. As I worked my way towards to back, I notice a very long line at the men's bathroom. Said line, made up entirely of sweaty men in Hawaiian shirts, produce a stench of body odor and dip spit- TRUE to the Rec Room itself. As you make your way to the back patio, you will see the women's bathroom line. As you pass, you will be greeted by the sobbing tears of Becky. Becky just got dumped by Brad. Marie, Becky's best friend, always hated Brad. She will be screaming loudly about how he "wasn't even worth it!!" As you enter the back patio, please watch your step, as drunk people are getting frisky in the doorway. As you pad through the crowd of sweaty fraternity gentlemen and old men with light up shoes, you might ask to "rip their Juul". As you make your way into the back bathroom, please notice the beautiful broken toilet in the men's bathroom. Also, please allow those drunk girls to use the stall. It took them a lot of courage to barge in there. Finally, you've made it to the back bar. When you finally make your way to the front of the line, treat yourself to a tiger bomb and $2 Coors Light. Rec Room was the highlight of my 4.5 years at Towson. Every weekend, I would make my way to that front door where Mario would greet me with a smile and a "welcome back, buddy". Rec is by far the best bar in Towson. The bouncers are not only bad asses, but they seriously care about the security of everyone inside. The crowd is friendly, the beer is cold, and the times are good. I cannot speak highly enough about the owners and the legacy they've created in downtown Towson. This is definitely not the place to go for an Adult night out. Underaged children swarm this place weekly. The bouncers seem to not care and let them in regardless of wether or not their ID is fake. One night I went to grab a drink in their outside smoking area and I overheard a group of girls talking I guess about this security guard Mario that can get all underaged teens in. Police are usually posted on York road so you'd think that officers would be able to notice children walking into a club but who know nowadays. I asked around and apparently that's a culture there at Recroom. A lot of messy sloppy children who don't know how to hold their liquor. Very unsanitary probably due to the frequent use from underaged drunks with no home training. A more adult space with better setting and no underaged children, is definitely Backyard or Kent House if you just want a good brew. C&R is cool if you like solely country music... As a resident of Towson since 2007 this place should really be shut down. read more

Talk about a great place in a great area to grab a bite. Like some of the other reviews say, the menu is pretty substantial, and the food was terrific! The service was fast and friendly. I heard they had a patio but didn't check it out as it was about to get crazy busy with some Towson Tiger thing about to invade the bar. As for entertainment there are at least eight televisions above the bar, a pool table, and endless people watching. Act 2: Came in here a couple weeks ago after a casual hike and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing food, the staff, and ambiance. I can imagine how crazy this place was after I left the last time especially after getting to enjoy the spacious outside dining area. So after a less than stellar start to the work week I decided to cruise in a grab a bite and enjoy the weather. The food is still amazing and the weather makes for a great meal. read more

I came on a Friday night looking for the pool hall that used to be here. It is no more! Yelp needs to update the listing. Anyway, we ate before leaving. My date got the cream of crab soup, a black and blue burger, and Riesling. I got a Natty Boh ($2) and fries. We loved all the food!! The fries were especially good. They taste homemade and they're crispy The crowd was obnoxiously loud but not so bad that we had to immediately leave. But as soon as we finished eating we left. I've been recently rather disappointed in rec room after a few bad Saturday nights. Last night, I was charged $10 for an electric lemonade on one side of the outside bar by a lady with brown hair & $8.27 on the other side within 30 minutes of each other . This made no sense to me as I was going to tip the lady regardless & she failed to give me a receipt. Lastly, the dj's music selection has been very downhill lately and no matter how many times the crowd complains during a set it doesn't get any better. You would think on a Saturday night that the Dj would be bringing his/her A-game?! We're also all sick of the same 2000's music being played; every regular knows the whole track at this point and it's getting very boring and overdone. read more

Came here for my 21st birthday with some friends. Love the lights, and they had some fun throwback songs playing. After we got here, it filled up fast and was pretty packed. Glad I got to the bathroom when we first got there, because both had huge lines soon after. I am 23 years old and got denied for entrance. I assume because they let so many underage college students in. Not that I care about that, been there. However, staff should know the difference between a real and fake ID. Needs better training for bouncers. The only people who go here are underage kids. Drinks are overpriced and the "tiger bombs", the signature drink, sit out in the open in the same place they store their crabs. They also sit out overnight and they do not clean the barrels/ buckets they put them in. It is poorly cleaned, and the security is garbage and disrespectful. The head security guard hits on underage girls and if they flirt back then he lets them in and continues to follow them around. The food is okay but overpriced. Ultimately if you are under 21 this is the place to go. If you want a real bar that has real specials and is properly sanitized then go to the Green Turtle. No need to waste your money on this place. The Rec Room is huge and thats cool if its packed I guess, Mely wanted to hang out in the front cause there was music, The DJ was decent he really had me at Return of the Mack but lost me with Single Ladies (really?) and I was just conundrumed when everyone was doing the wobble - yo Toto we aint in New York anymore. I do like that folks are much friendlier in MD than in nasty old New York. The drinks were cheap, I bought a round 2 Coronas, and 2 patron shots for $20. When I first visited The Rec Room a few months ago... I wasn't really impressed. It was a Friday night & pretty empty. We played pool for a while and ate their nachos. But then one night a few weeks later we stumbled upon their "Patio". It's a new addition to the bar set in the back and literally separated from the building. It even has a separate bouncer checking IDs to get into the patio. You can enter the patio without actually walking through The Rec Room from the back side street. The Patio is where it's at. It was crowded with people. Lots of tables and space to hang out at. There's even a few couches around. The patio area is pretty big and holds quite a bit of people. You can smoke there at your table if you'd like. It has it's own bathrooms out there (and they were pretty clean). We met one of the managers and she was very sweet and informative and really proud of the new addition to The Rec Room. We like to make this one of our first stops when bar hopping in Towson. read more
