Don't go here! False advertising! We went here with the expectation seen in the photos that it was a beautiful place on the water! It is neither of those! Instead we had to walk through shops to find this place squeezed in the back in a seedy bar with very small claustrophobic seating. There is NO VIEW of the water and WORSE, this place was smack dab in the middle of screaming children and teenager land. It was like we were lost in the twilight zone! We left immediately! Don't go for the ambience, the great service or the cleanliness.... You go why I went, to try the #1 voted lobster roll. For $26.75, it's definitely delicious...and is clearly at least 2 lbs of lobster piled into a non-toasted/non-buttered roll (I always prefer a toasted buttered roll)...so a great value that you need to start eating with a fork to be able to pick it up. But be prepared to get your own water out of the water cooler, to receive slightly rotten limes and lemons in your drinks, to be seated at overly sticky and rotted tables in a fenced in outdoor area (no indoor seating other than the bar if raining), and to receive less than enjoyable service from servers that seem rather annoyed to still be working this late in the season. Lesson learned? Call in take out and order your lobster rolls TO GO. read more

Hands down best lobster roll on the Cape and best I've had anywhere...absolutely worth the price if you like your lobster. Mostly knuckle meat, which is one of my favorite parts on the lobster anyway. Tiny bar, but great atmosphere, just not a lot of seats and chances are--unless you're there during off hours--you'll be standing. The signed thongs pinned up all over the ceiling make a great backdrop to grab a cold beer, have a giant lobster roll and soak in the Cape. If the raw bar is too crowded, just go to the cafe right across the white shell path and get a few to go. The Raw Bar is located in the Popponessett Marketplace so there's plenty of stuff going on for anyone in your family. Highly, highly recommended. read more

OK - lobster roll is very large with large chunks of sweet lobster meat. Nothing else is outstanding and service is surly. Also, a skunk visited the patio several times during our dinner to look for scraps. Apparently the skunk is a regular and ignored by the staff. I see a lot of people complaining about the no cell phone policy, cell phones didn't exist when this place opened, people went here to drink and have a good time. If you know lobster, you know this is lobster at its fresh, scrumptious best. People come from near and far to find the Raw Bar for a reason - lobster indulgence and appreciation! Once you find the Raw Bar, there is limited bar seating inside and a fenced patio section outside which lends itself to community seating (picnic tables). Eat, drink, be merry and be social. The Raw Bar prepares a full lobster roll with all of the best parts of the crustacean. It also offers a "recession version", or half of the same lobster roll for 2/3 the price of a full one, and well worth it. The menu also offers fresh steamers, fried full belly clams and perfectly good but not as memorable options as well. Went on Sunday over the Memorial Day weekend. Arrived about 1:45 for lunch. We have been here a few times but not in the last 5 years. The bar is always packed and you cannot move in there. Out to the dining area which was in a tent. I saw a portable heater so it must get cool at night. I hope they remove the tent when the warm weather comes to stay. A lot of people and they are loud. Waited maybe 15 minutes for a table to clear. It's a very small seating area of picnic tables so you may end up with other people sitting with you. We ordered 2 cups of chowder. The chowder was quite good. Not too hot, not too cold. Just right. The right creaminess also. Good flavor. I also ordered a lobster roll for each of us and then listened to my wife say over and over that we should have only got one. There's a reason for getting two. When I'm done with mine and looking for more. Oh, look, there's another half for me to kill. Yeah, the lobster rolls are huge. Cost now is $25.95. Just a little mayo and nothing else. So, you get the great flavor of lobster. You have to eat the top layer with a fork before digging into the roll. My only complaint is the roll. I love a butter toasted warm bun. Yes, the lobster rolls are good, at the price, as would be expected. However, I find them a little plain and not worth the wait and suffering through the indifferent service. If you are in the area, fine place for lunch, but certainly not worth a trip. read more

Stopped in for a drink and some oysters on the way home from the beach this summer. I'd heard it mentioned a few times so i was looking forward to going The bar itself is tiny but they have a small patio out back with shared tables that could be really cute with minimal effort. We ordered oysters, crab cakes and drinks. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. The oysters were served in a paper container - no ice, no cocktail sauce and the liquor had spilled out of most of them. Oysters are best ice cold. These were just above room temp. I have no idea how any of the food is here other than the lobster rolls. The fact is, this place has the very best, and biggest lobster rolls on the planet. That's all we ever order when we come down to visit my brother who has a house within walking distance once or twice a year. You can tell the meat is fresh, not previously frozen. It tastes like you just shucked it yourself. They use only the slightest hint of mayo, and no spices to alter the taste. Just pure, unadulterated LOBSTER. 1st, Pricey but you totally get what you pay for. The lobster roll is huge, enough for 2 people and is super delicious and not globbed down with mayo. The darn thing weighs like a pound. Another yelper commented on the bread, well for me... its just a holding vessel and I don't plan on eating it. Who wants bread when there is over a pound of lobster to eat .... duh!! Anyway, the bar here is tiny but the drinks are strong and worth every penny. I made it there for oyster happy hour and downed 1/2 doz super fresh globs of YUM !!! If you are into bloody marys, well get one here, it is fantastic. The bartenders here sure know how to make a DAMN Good drink. I really hate having to give a negative review but I just don't get why this place has four stars. I have worked in restaurants and bars so I am empathetic, but the service at this place is appalling. None of the bartenders were even remotely attentive. Ours was outright surly (not just to us, but in general). There was zero eye contact, not even a small attempt at being personable by anyone. We ordered food and it was just plopped in from of us. Every drink was empty before we had to flag someone down to get another. It wasn't that busy. I live close by but I will never return. read more

There aren't too many things that I eat with drinks in plastic cups that are worth $25, but the lobster rolls at the Raw Bar certainly are. As long as you are not feeling totally glutonous, two people can split a lobster roll and some oysters and be content. The rum punch also good and packs a punch. A classic Cape setting with picnic tables and broken clam shells on the floor. The lobster roll that everyone talks about is huge and tasty but is not the best I've ever had and, at $25.95, is probably one of the most expensive. The rest of the menu is rather limited. Love it love it love it. A $25 lobster roll that cannot be eaten by one person unless said person has a serious eating disorder. And not only is the roll large, it's done PERFECTLY...tons of meat, very little mayo, and no frills. While I'm not a huge lobster fan, my wife LOVES it. We rent a house in Popponesset from family friends during the summer, and Raw Bar is one of the main reasons. According to my wife, this is the greaest lobster roll she's ever had. Due in part by the fact that every lobster roll looks like it has an entire lobsters worth of meat on it. Every time we go there it's packed. You can look at that two different ways. One, you hate waiting and big crowds, I get it. Two, that many people can't be wrong. If I was forced to complain about something, I guess I would say that there isnt a ton of indoor seating, and when it's packed, it's packed. That said, I don't care about the crowd. I welcome it. It's part of the atmosphere and I wouldn't trade it for anything. If you like seafood and don't mind a bunch of other people (mostly on vacation, like you, or at their summer house) then you better get yourself a lobster roll from Raw Bar. Except, of course, if you don't like lobster, like me. FYI, you can also get the Raw Bar lobster roll next door, at Bobs Seafood Cafe. The food and atmoshpere are equally as great at Bobs. read more
