We went here on a Sunday afternoon and it was not overly busy. We ordered a bowl and cup of clam chowder and 3 lunch specials - grilled salmon, fish tacos, and shrimp tacos. The chowders came out pretty quick and while I liked it, my husband thought it was pretty average. We both agree it was a thinner base than we typically like. The lunch specials were a good deal, but they were all kind of a let down and overall just not very good. The service was also pretty slow, particularly for how un-busy it was. Loved the place, very good food. Went there 3 times, food was always fresh, fast service, very friendly staff. The place is big, lots of room , very clean. We had the fried. Recently I traveled home to Cape Cod for family business. My wife was unable to come with me, but requested that I bring her clam chowder and lobster rolls. She specifically requested Cooke's! I told the crew at the Mashpee store my dilemma and they went above and beyond! They deconstructed the rolls so I could pack everything separately and fave me cold chowder so it would travel better. I was able to pack the whole thing in a suitcase and it all survived the trip to California! I have been a huge fan of Cooke's for many years. Easily the best fried clams you will ever eat. The platter is huge and easily feeds multiple people. So pleasantly surprised last night to go to Cookes and be waited on!! Cooke's is back. Been going for years. It took a dip a few years back. Clientele is back too.., prices are decent, value is very good. Clam chowder would be excellent if just a few more clams. I love their fried scrod platter, and choice of two sides. Don't love the mushy squash mix hot vegetable option, but salad and starchy choices are all very good. Family place, or very casual date. Omg the seafood was delicious! So fresh and cooked to perfection! We longed for the experience of whole belly clams since we just moved back to MA from PA. They were just as we had remembered. So sweet and tender. The Haddock was also good. The service was perfect and the ambiance was geared towards family, but the noise level was quite normal. It was a great visit. This was a suggestion from a friend. And I'm going to give them love. I went with the baked stuffed scrod and scallops. It was very good. Maybe not as flavorful as I expected but good. The cole slaw was incredibly tasty. I will say this though. My buddy's fried clam strips were phenomenal. That's what earned them the 4th star here. These were fresher and more lightly breaded which I really like. Next time I'm going that route. read more

First time coming here. Friends treat for lunch. Nice quiet afternoon, 230, not many patrons. Looking at the menu, chowder and scallops were the choices. Bowl of chowder was "wicked" big by my standards, hot and thick. (I am not one of those who are a diehard thick is better than thin fan, I'll eat chowder any time). Couldn't finish my chowder! It was delicious. (Although, come to think of it, fresh cracked pepper would have made it over the top!). Scallops came out, golden delicious, the oil was clean and the taste was fantastic. We moved to the area a couple years ago. read all the bad yelp reviews, and a couple neighbors told us to stay away. Went today for lunch to see for ourselves. It was very quiet at around 3:30, host and waitress were pleasant and attentive. We both got the Luncheon Fish and Chips and a side of onion rings. The waitress did say the Fish and Chips had a few onion rings on top, but I thought the lunch portions would be smaller, so got the rings anyway. The portions were large, wound up taking home all the onion rings and most of the fries and some fish. Overall, not the absolute best I've ever had, but very good, and you get a lot for the price ($15. for the lunch portion). I did read it recently switched from a cafeteria style to full service, with a nice bar, so it may have improved substantially from the older reviews. Will definitely be back again. read more

It's a pretty large modern place with several different rooms & a Bar area too. They also have a stand alone water refill Bar station near the front with cups & water. We all opted for the Healthier Baked Platter Option. The Sides of Rice, Potato & Veggies we're just OK. The Baked Scrod & The Scallops however were Very Very Good. Even took a colleague from out of town there. Tonight though, terrible, swordfish was fishy, lobster was non existent in the watered down lobster bisque. Threw it away. Mostly known for good fried seafood in an upscale order- at-the-counter and sit to be served venue. Departing from the reminiscent road side fried clam strips or fish and fries counters, Cooke's Seafood has modern restaurant seating and featured a Sunday special. I am sorry to report my Stuffed Shrimp fell well short of flavor expectations but the other food my wife ate was good. 3/5 rating. Stuffed (4) Shrimp with moist bread-like home made stuffing; soft, mild with a few red, yellow and green vegetable pepper slivers for flavoring. The stuffing was inconsistent, containing a number of chewy mini shrimp 0,1,3,3 respectively on each filet shrimp. Imitation crab / seafood meat slivers and peppery flavor did not enhance the shrimp. Shrimp tasted Pre-prepared, I will not order this one again. 4/5 rating. Healthy lobster salad with balsamic (Ken's single serve packet) dressing. Better than what you might eat at Provincetown. Lobster chunks are not as large as what you find on the other side of the canal in a Buzzards Bay, fresh lobster restaurant. 3.5/5 rating. Clam chowder. Creamy chowder with requisite clam chunks and small potato pieces. Our shared consensus compared to the best chowder in the Cape area: Average Good. Overall, a nice clean restaurant, great for big families. You have to listen carefully when the server yells out your order number for delivery of food to your table. Note to Managment: There has got to be a better way for the server to find you. read more

This was the BEST fried seafood I think I've ever had. My Aunt, a Massachusetts native and lover of all things seafood, said my scallops were probably the best she'd EVER eaten. I ordered the seafood platter and asked them to hold the fried clams, as I'm not a fan. They were happy to cook more of the items I wanted. The paper plates someone referred to in another review were very substantial and heavy duty. It didn't bother me. What I didn't like was the rationed tarter and chili sauce, but they did give me more when I asked. I would recommend they upgrade to a little nicer plastic silverware. I'd absolutely go back again. In fact, I'd DRIVE there by myself just for the fabulous seafood. We ate till we were stuffed and barely touched our fries or coleslaw. Of all the restaurants we went to on the East Coast, this was my favorite. And the menu did offer more than just fried seafood. My Aunt almost ordered the grilled swordfish, but decided on the fried clams which she said were exquisite. And she's a hard woman to please with her food. Really! read more

My partner says Cooke's looks like the "Kelly's Roast Beef" of seafood. It does have a sort of chainy, generic look to it (though there are only two). What it lacks in clam shack charm, it makes up for with a very nice staff, and a very good jumbo lobster roll filled with really good meat, and just enough mayo on a griddled bun. The clam chowder, though creamy and thick like i like it is forgettable. Not awful, but i don't know if saw any clams, it's more like potato chowder. The fries were very good too. I'd go back, because of the lobster roll and to try some other things, it's certainly not the worst out there on the Cape! read more

We frequented the Hyannis location of Cooke's when in it was open quite often! My family and I were taking a drive to Falmouth and thought the Mashpee location would be a nice place to stop for lunch! Familiar with the order at the counter and grab a table style of service, we figured it was the same for the Mashpee location. With two kids under 3, I thought it would be wise to order ahead and eat it at a picnic table or one of the open tables there. My kids don't last long and I really was planning ahead for an enjoyable meal! To much of my surprise; this Cooke's location is completely different! It's a waiter service style restaurant. Don't know if that's new or not, but was completely shocked. There also were not any tables or picnic benches to sit on. When we arrived and realized there was no place to eat; we asked if we could just sit at one of the tables instead. The woman at the front said no, take out is take out! Mind you, our food was not ready, not in a bag, not even in a to-go container yet. My solution? Simply switch it over and we would have provided the server a tip! Also to note, there might have been 5 tables occupied; so plenty of seating. I realize that in the summer this might be a policy to adhere to; but on Mother's Day, an exception to a local, might have been nice! 3 meals for 80$ (two lobster rolls and chicken tenders) and a less than accommodating staff solidified that I will not be returning to Cooke's in Mashpee! If you go into this place expecting a Legal Seafood's type decor, you're off your rocker. It's a seafood place on the Cape, what do you expect? It's about the food, not about the decorations. We aren't talking a high end luxury atmosphere The portions are hefty and the clams are always great. The onion rings are awesome and they pile them high. It's great food for reasonable money and when I'm on the Cape this is almost always where I go for food. I'd recommend this place, but don't expect it to be a crazy luxurious layout. read more

You need to go in there expecting to sit down and eat a fried plate of something that taste only like too much fried batter with your overpriced glass of beer that you had to have, and then you won't be disappointed. I've gotten a lobster roll from there before and I would say don't bother. It's not worth what they want to charge you for. The other yelper that commented on the sanitary (or lack thereof) conditions are correct.
