We have tried this place a few times to see if it was consistently bad. Sadly, it was. Twice I've had fish that had the bitter taste of old frozen stuff that's been sitting around to long. The last time we ate there my wife was served an unidentified frying object with an odd uncooked lump at one end. We brought this to the attention of the manager who offered to give us a "credit" for our next visit, fully knowing we weren't from the area. Another great order at the counter cape cod place. Ordered the broiled scrod and scallops with crab stuffing. This was basically a pot pie aluminum tin filled with scrod and scallops and buttery sauce, topped with a tasty crab stuffing. This reminding me of an awesome hybrid of scallops and clams casino. Super tasty and came with a baked potato and veggies. For $15 on this dish, you cannot go wrong. Onion rings were spot on as well. read more

Mixed bag on the food. The fried seafood was like the shrimp, fish and whole bellies was good. Onion rings and fries were good too. The garlic Parmesan wings were really not good. The quality of the wings was good but the sauce was terrible. My mom got the stuffed shrimp because it was on the specialty list and it was awful. The stuffing was a mushy lump of dense bread with giant chunks of green peppers and onions. Don't get it. My aunt got the shrimp scampi with linguini and said it was pretty good. As someone has mentioned before, the seafood is amazing but the atmosphere is a bit lacking. I understand that it is a kind of "do it yourself" place, but the waitress looked a bit put off when we asked for help with a few things. That being said - the food was great! I got fried scallops and everyone else got different variations of fried seafood, and everything was enjoyed! Ordered fried haddock for lunch (unfortunately, there was no 'Fish n Chips' lunch special like in Hyannis). For $15.95 I received fries that were overcooked, almost burnt; onion rings that were mushy; and cole slaw that was soupy. And, of course, the 'skin-on' haddock... it was fresh and tasty but it was not a good portion and really, there's no reason to leave the skin on (they didn't in the past). $15.95 for all this, and on paper plates? We have been going to Cooke's since there was only one location located in Hyannis. So when they opened one in Mashpee we were thrilled. The food has always been good there up until the last few years. For our latest experience we got the Fried Whole Belly Clams and a Fried Sole Platter. The clams came out chewy and rubbery, the fried sole was very fishy smelling to the point where my wife thought it may have been previously frozen. On top of that the prices just seem to keep going up and the portions are getting even smaller. Those two meals cost us 42 dollars without drinks. Needless to say we are done giving this location any more chances. I would rather spend my money at Seafood Sams in Sandwich or Capt'n Frostys in Dennis. read more

Not bad, but certainly not memorable. The clam strips were better than supermarket-frozen, but not memorable. The fried combination plate looked larger than it was, thanks to a more-than-ample bedding of nearly soggy french fries. A few of the clams were overdone. So the food was decent. Cooke's loses two stars because it was quite over-priced for being a semi-self-service venue. (Did I just say that?) Ordering and paying at a counter is fine for a clam shack, but not a restaurant like this. After they bring you your order, nothing is provided. No complimentary ice water. Go to the bar and get your drink. Go back to the counter and order desert? (We didn't.) They probably get away with this because there aren't many restaurants until you get to Hyannis. read more

Clean space and always fresh! Full liquor license for the guests that want just more than beer or wine. I Love the casual atmosphere here. The staff is friendly even with my picky children. Yuck! Bland chowder. Less than wonderful haddock (sliver of fish with a lot of breading), the onion rings cold and slimy, but worst of all SPOILED (spell that R.O.T.T.E.N) Cole slaw. This is my family's go-to spot. It's rare for us to go down the Cape each summer without going to Cooke's. We love it.

Absolutely not worth the price. Its a fast food joint with a bar attached. You order at the fast food like counter and they bring the food to you on a fast food tray, plastic silverware, paper plates and cups, and togo ramekins for your sauces. I bought the shrimp platter, the quantity was right but the quality was lacking. The breading was bland and it seemed under cooked, and my current stomach ache is confirming my suspicion. Pro tip: don't tip unless you normally tip at fast food places. read more

Went there for lunch today as I haven't been in a couple years. I must say it was very disappointed. Ordered a (angus). Bacon cheese burger with fries, small onion ring. The burger was almost cold and tasted like it was a frozen patty, cold fries and half battered soggy onion rings. The person I went with had a chicken sandwich that was no prize. We agreed that the best part of our lunch were the ice cold pickles they give with the sandwiches and burger. Next time will go next door to the 99 for at least I know what to expect there. We were a party of 5. Entering- there is 1 person taking orders and a line out the door. The food comes- all fried seafood portions are tiny with a mound of French fries underneath. What's with the plastic cups and utensils and the paper plates when you're seated in the dining room? I hate this practice but it's prevalent in lots of seafood places here on the Cape. I thought we'd been to Cooke's before and didn't really like it -- but I think I was wrong. I was pleasantly surprised when we recently ordered take-out. Everything was very good - seafood platters in particular were very good and loved the onion rings. The key was - it was very fresh and wasn't overly greesy. I must say when my folks and I walked in it said Cooke's has been voted best clams in The Cape 5 years in a row. So what's all the hype about? Let me tell you growing up in New England I love seafood! Clams are my favorite and by far I ate my best clams of my life at Cooke's. One thing I didn't like Cooke's isn't full service you order at the counter and get a number. The dining room was clean and inviting. They had a nice bar as well and a couple of flat screens to catch a game or get an ESPN update. They also have excellent lunch specials which were quite inexpensive. Excellent food, but the atmosphere is lacking. The scallops and clams are sublime, the chowder is excellent and the lobster rolls are done right (if a little on the small side). They are very consistent, and everything is fresh and light (hard to do with fried seafood). My family lives on the Cape, and no visit is complete without a meal or two at Cooke's. read more

Worst. I love whole belly clams last year we went for lunch and it was terrific, went back for dinner and was terrible. Broken pieces, fried bits of breading only. Guess it dependa on whos cooking. Well this year went back, on vacation. Sunday night. Clams were terrible. Not cleaned full of black crappie and too tough to chew. They advertise local clams now and not true ipswich clams. My first clue should have been that you stand in line and order like you are at McDonalds rather than being seated but I gave it chance. Even though the girl at the counter was pissed off and rude like we were inconveniencing her to do her job and take our order. You seat yourself and are responsible for getting your own condiments. I ordered the fried haddock platter and my friend the 1lb lobster dinner plus drinks. Once you seat yourself you wait for your number to be called and then raise your hand and a worker will brink it to you. I say worker because it is not a server, you do not get waited on at all. Ohh and I had to wait for my food to be served to get my sprite, even at McDonalds you get your cup right away to serve yourself a drink, not here, I had to wait about 30min to get my drink! The food: the lobster that was served to us was a pregnant lobster full of rue! Illegal and gross. I know they knew it was a pregnant lobster because you could clearly see it where they sliced it open. My fried haddock was good but my platter came with one small piece and a huge mound of French fries, definitely not worth $12.95. Soulless but tasty casual seafood restaurant in Mashpee. Order at the counter and they'll deliver your food to the character lacking antiseptic clean dining hall. The menu features fried seafood of all kinds (clams, oysters, scallops, etc) as well as lobster. Food was good, quick, and fresh. Tartar sauce was quality. They do take out and serve wine and beer. Prices are competitive 12-22 for all of the fried seafood. Would be a solid 4 star but the newness and sterility of the place loses a star (i would have prefered a more kitschy less suburban dining experience). Plenty of parking but a bit off the Falmouth/Woodshole beaten path. read more

Great place for dinner. Easy to dine in or take out. The lime to order took a while but there was plenty of seating. You order at the front, then find a seat and wait for them to call your number. The best seafood ? Yeah right. We ordered over $200 worth of food for pickup. When we got home with the food we realize that they forgot one of our platters and charges us more for the food that we did not even order. We were little upset but sometimes that happens with large orders. When we call them they were apologetic but when we got there they were very mean and they told us that we ate the missing platter there and took the rest with us. Cooke's is solid. It's not the BEST, but it'll cure your fix for some seafood. The lobster rolls are an approachable size at a reasonable price and they come with 2 sides... the french fries are PERFECT. The cole slaw is tasty and the chowder is pretty decent as well. You can get beer or wine, which of course I do. It's a walk up and order and they bring you your food type place. Service is pretty quick. read more
