I was originally going to give a 3 star rating, but Yelp's description for 2 stars - "Meh. I've experienced better." - convinced me to use that, instead. Seriously, this place is "meh" - no reservations, seat yourself at our dirty sticky picnic tables after an *hour* wait just to get a seat, plan on dinner taking a long time because there's only ONE person waiting on 40+ people ... Anyway, we decided to try this place out for dinner last night because some locals said this place had "the best lobster roll and clam chowder, ever." I'll say this: they lobster roll portion was large, definitely enough for two or three people to share, and the clam chowder was very tasty. Was the lobster roll worth $25? Considering that the boat price of lobster continues to decline (it's less than $3/pound) ... the mark-up on those lobster rolls is *huge* ... Overall, if you really love lobster, save your money and hit an all-you-can-eat lobster buffet and skip this place. You're not coming for the service, decor or low price ... and the food isn't "best of" anything ... what they lack in quality they try to make up for in quantity, but given the high prices, you aren't actually getting a deal. I got the monsta lobsta and it was awesome. My friends meals looked good too but I think the lobster dishes were the best. My biggest problem with this place is that they serve everything in plastic. Plastic cups for cocktails, plastic plates and plastic silverware. It disappoints me to 1) pay 40 dollars for a dish that's served in plastic, and 2) see how much waste this place actually generates. Please consider our planet and the impact that your business can have on it. It felt bad to be sitting and enjoying ocean/bay views with the knowledge that much of the worlds plastic that this place contributes to feeds into our waterways and oceans. Take the extra step and financial hit to have reusable plat wear that does better for our future generations and planet into consideration. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a fan of seafood. I'm all about sushi, it's one of my favorite foods in the world, but just straight up seafood? Just not a fan. But last week my cousins were in town from San Diego and they wanted some classic New England seafood. So we headed to Raw Bar. Even if I don't like seafood, if somewhere is boasting "The Best Lobster Rolls In New England!" ...I'm gonna try to lobster roll. The place is located in a little group of shops and restaurants that makes you feel like you're in another world. It's very quaint. The Raw Bar itself is rather small. There are passive-aggressive signs all over the place (inside and outside) that "ask" you not to use your cell phone on the premises. We sat outside in the back where they have lots of patio tables set up. The seating inside is at the bar or on stools facing the window. I ordered a crab cake to start (real snow crab) and it was delicious with a little lemon squeezed on it and some Tabasco sauce drizzled on top (conveniently provided at every table.) Stephanie ordered shrimp and Justin order steamers, which came in a giant bucket (that they let us take home.) We were served by a kid that couldn't have been any older than 12 but he was good at what he did. Justin ordered a full lobster roll and Steph and I decided to split one. It is HUGE. Justin could barely begin to eat his after the steamers, and Steph and I didn't finish either of our halves. There was enough lobster to take home to EASILY make 3 normal sized roll. Reminding you that I don't even like seafood...the rolls are AMAZING. They are $25 but there is SO MUCH lobster. I ate most of mine because it was, in fact, delicious. It was the first lobster roll I had ever had, so I probably will not ever have one elsewhere because it will probably ruin it for me. There was the perfect amount of mayonnaise and the lobster was piled so high it was almost intimidating, but in a good way. I would definitely go back here. Especially because I forgot to bring my ID (I almost forgot my debit card, which would have been worse), so I didn't get to sample any delicious cocktails. I definitely suggest making the drive to Mashpee to get this treat (get there early so you don't hit any Cape traffic during the summer, if you're coming from the Boston area.) Despite the fact that it's the only lobster roll I've ever had....I'd say they've definitely earned the title of the best lobster roll in New England. read more

I went here based on other comments I had read (the funny thing was I saw some of the negative comments and thought it would be worth a shot anyway). I was not disappointed by the Lobster Roll, but I was a bit shocked by the $25 price tag. After looking up several other Lobster Roll locations and their reviews I'm pretty sure I could have gotten the same quality at half the cost. However, it was tasty. The restaurant is tiny (good luck fitting more than 10-12 in the bar area, 5 if your wanting comfort) and the patio is nice, but surrounded by trees, which was surprising since I was under the impression it was closer to the coast. The staff seemed nice at first but as the meal went on the little attention we received at first disappeared completely. She took our order then practically plopped our food in front of us when it came out. We didn't see her again until our bill came, and she didn't even seem happy about that moment. Outside is a little bigger, but not by much. Decent atmosphere except that the table next to us was chain smoking (legal?). They also have a very strict policy on no cell phones out on the patio. We didn't mind this until my fiances alarm went off, she took about 5 seconds to turn it off. As soon as she pulled out her phone one of the "bouncers" (a big guy in a dolphin shirt... seriously, one of those tacky shirts from a road stand) yelled across the patio for her to turn it off (rudely) then made fun of us as he passed by a couple of the other tables. We were not alone in this, he yelled at another table as well. On top of everything else, the little area it's in (good luck finding it) was swarmed with tweens who were popping those annoying pop firecrackers, blocking all walkways, and being general little snots. I'm a high school teacher and I love working with that age group, but it was just too much that night. Simply put, not worth it. Good lobster, but you'll find the same quality elsewhere for cheaper. Don't waste your time or your money. I never will again. read more

Lobster roll is good, its not really seasoned and bread is as blah as you get but there's a lot of lobster meat. Oysters tasted great, wish they had been shucked better, had to dig out bits and pieces of shells. Wish they 1) had a better wine selection, all were kind of sweet and not that great. Cocktail menu looked great though. 2) had better options for kids. Hot dog and corn on the cob was about it. There were lots of families there, should be worth their while. Service was good. Dishonest service. Put our name on a waitlist which we were told would be about an hour, all well and good on a busy weekend. We sent one person from our group back after 1 hour to check in and were told our table was ready and to grab the rest of the group. When we returned, our table had been given to another group that had just arrived. When we asked what had happened the hostess jokingly mentioned that our "table had been stolen." When the manager came out her story changed and nobody had jumped the line. As we left disappointed, the hostess feigned sadness. Terribly disappointed in a restaurant I had enjoyed before. I do not know what to say! I have been eating at the Raw Bar for over three decades. The one thing I always counted on was the consistent world class lobster roll. We just order two and we instantly asked the server if someone new was making the lobster meat preparation. It was more mayonnaise, saltier and the meat was a little wet. The meat is frozen and you need to squeeze out most of the water. The new person did not do enough. That leaves more salt water in the meat. Please go back to the old formula or the best lobster roll award will go to the Popponessett Inn! read more

I go to both places but wouldn't want anyone to think they were going to get that amazing huge lobster roll with an amazing mudslide and be disappointed!! This place made our night! As tourists who had driven the entire cape that day, all we wanted was a lobster roll and we couldn't seem to find anything decent that was open!! After being rejected by several "Closed" signs, we found this place and drove 45 mins to find it. After getting lost a few times and wondering where the heck we were amongst what looked like a deserted summer resort, we found it! The place was packed with locals who had been playing golf all day. We sat on the patio decorated with Halloween spirit and chatted Up the locals. We met the man who makes the "best lobster roll on the cape" as well as a memorable local named Squirrel. The rolls were $25 and massive in size. Wish they told us because neither of us put a dent in our rolls thy were so good. I took my father to the Raw Bar for lobster rolls based on this place being on several lists for best lobster rolls on the Cape. Sat in the outdoor picnic table. Very loud hip hop musing blaring on the speaker, could barely carry on a conversation. Actually sort of funny, given the fact that I was the only diner there at the time under the age of 60. We ordered two lobster rolls, which came out relatively quickly. The lobster rolls were indeed very large, and the lobster meat was pretty good, with only light mayo-type dressing. Served on a stale, non-toasted roll, no lettuce for crunch. Just a large wad of lobster meat on a stale roll. So, it was basically a hunk of shucked lobster meat for $30. No sides (like cole slaw, fries, etc). When we got our lobster rolls, I asked the waitress to turn down the music. After a few minutes, they changed from angry hip-hop to reggae / hip-hop ( classic reggae would have been great ), but still at the same high volume. Later on, some guy came out and asked how the meal was. I said OK, but can you please turn down the music. A minute later, the music gets turned down about 50%. Great. I can actually have a conversation again. But, before I know it, someone turns the music back up to full blast again. Overall, a lousy lobster roll experience. I have no idea why this place was rated so highly for lobster rolls. Quantity does not equal quality. As for the music, it should suited be for the patrons, not for the teenagers working there, and certainly not so freakin loud. I can not recommend this place. There are much better places to go on the Cape for good lobster rolls, like Sesuit Harbor Cafe in Dennis and the Lobster Trap in Bourne. read more

I work in customer service myself with food and try to be understanding of the current situation including the pandemic. However that being said, we love seafood and decided to try this location last night. It was terrible. The menu was tiny and over priced. I will pay any amount for good food but it was terrible. I paid $35 for a small bucket of sandy steamers. They were gross. My sister paid $30 for a lobster roll that tasted like just mayo. I got my daughter a hot dog and corn and the hot dog was rubbery and roll Not toasted. The waitress was unfriendly and frankly rude. There was only two other people in the restaurant who just had cocktails. She wasn't tentative or efficient about requests. As we sat waiting for the to go container and bill we asked for 30 minutes prior there was another couple who were complaining to each other as well. She also double charged my sisters lobster roll and after the correction the bill was still $125 before tip. I expected more from a restaurant labeled best around and especially during a critical time. She also wasn't wearing her mask inside the restaurant which made me question its ability to follow protocol and cleanliness. All in all we won't recommend or be back to this restaurant. read more

My family ate here on our last night in Cape Cod and loved it! We sat upstairs and had a lovely view of the bay. We went on a Wednesday night and had the lobster dinner specials - 2 whole lobsters, corn and coleslaw for $35 - what a deal!. To start, we had lobster bisque, clam chowder, buffalo wings, and jerk chicken wings. The lobster bisque was the best lobster bisque I had the whole trip - a ton of lobster meat in every bite. Very disappointing. Very tiny bar crammed with people blocking the entrances and exits. Only place to eat was in a tent attached to the building. Supposedly heated but open at all so the cold, damp air blew right threw. Screen doors open the wrong way-- that with the crowded bar space seemed to be a fire hazard. So, we decided to order take out. Over $60 for two lobster rolls which actually consisted of two plastic containers of lobster and two hot dogs rolls wrapped in foil. There was an adequate amount of lobster-- actually, we weighed it and each container was 3/4 pound. This was always my favorite Raw bar to get a huge lobster roll. I would take pictures, and bring all my guests here. First visit today this year....very disappointed!. Lobster roll is now up to 30$ and it has shrunk! People come all over the world for this lobster roll. You could watch them put the big scoops in. Now it's a wrapped portion. So so sad! Claws were so dry and it sadly is the last lobster roll for me and my guests. I believe that the sales will dwindle and it will be a favorite of the Past.
