Hoppin' today. Homely feel for the middle of a casino.

This is what happens when you write too many reviews...you forget that you already have one for a place! This is an update for Dan Rooney's, though I can't say too much has changed from the last time I was here. Monday marked another great snack and drink to break up the gambling. DR's is still rockin' it in the middle of EC. It truly feels like this sports bar fell out of the sky and landed on the wicked witch of gambling. Steal her shoes and maybe you'll find some luck at the video slot machines stationed outside the restaurant along the bar of Dan Rooney's. The first time I came by for a drink was at these seats, and if you'd rather stay in the middle of the clanging noises and flashing slot machines then this is the spot for you. Inside is where it's truly at. After that first time, we always grab the long, wood-polished high top table that jettisons out of the bar with stools on both sides. It's like it's waiting for us, secretly dispelling all that pass until we enter. The bartender usually takes care of the order as he did this past time. He's as attentive as a busy drink mixer can be, and friendly enough to let us know about 10% off the bill if we printed out a voucher with our casino card. For drink I went with one of Dan Rooney's own brews via their honey blonde ale. It's mildly sweet and worked well with the savory and spicy nachos (a staple and my recommendation any time you come). We also shared some BBQ wings which had a rich and robust sauce and tasty bleu cheese for dipping. Overall, if you want to escape Empire City while still staying in Empire City, then come to Dan Rooney's and grab a drink. It's worthy of at least that every time.

Decent food, beer, and sports bar but overall service is slow and inattentive. Rotisserie chicken entree was a solid choice. Sides are extra but the carrots were a good option as they are seasoned great and onion rings were large and battered well but not greasy at all. Also, we ordered a whole chicken which was more than enough for two people. Overall I felt the prices were fair and the food was actually pretty decent and a little better than I expected for a sports bar in a casino. OK enough beer list, and they have a few of their own house brews on tap. Plenty of flat screens around and a great sound system to watch all the games. Decor is basic sports bar but this one is more of a Steelers house since it's owned by the NFL's Rooney family. Still, the night we were here they had the Knicks, Mets, and some other NHL games on. Would have been a much better experience but the service was almost laughable. Our guy was nice enough but it seemed to take forever to get our food, silverware, water, etc. Every time we needed something there was a long wait. It seemed as if this meal took forever to get through, and even paying was a slow process. Either they need more staff here or better training, or both. Still, not a bad spot to grab a beer and bite if you're a sports fan and visiting the casino here. Just be prepared to spend a while if the service is always this slow. We had about a 20 minute wait to get a table and they text you when one is available. Oh, and the nachos looked pretty damn good here, along with the burgers that couples around us were devouring.

Conveniently located right inside of Yonkers Casino. Had the chance to sit down and eat here for once since we were also celebrating somebody's birthday. Service could have been a little better especially since it was slow the night we went. Plenty of places to sit- a bar, tables and booths. Some booths even have mini TVs inside them which is pretty solid when you want to watch a game with some friends. The bar has quite a few flat screen TVs, decent beer selection and prices. However, the food there isn't anything spectacular. It's pretty much the same thing you can get at the food cafeteria in Yonkers, but pricier. My friend has the chicken quesadillas, I took a bite, and they were absolutely disgusting. No flavor and extremely chewy. My friend and I decided to split a BLT and the mixed appetizer dish (made for two people). The wings were "okay," nothing to rant or rave about. I found it to be pretty weird it comes with only three wings though when the appetizer is made for two people. The onions rings were average. The fried mushrooms were very bland, and the two sliders were extremely small. The BLT was pretty big, but the bacon was also pretty chewy. We told the staff it was someone's birthday and they brought out a cheesecake. The staff came out and sang happy birthday which was nice. We all took a bite out of the small piece of cheesecake and we all thought it was pretty horrible as well. Overall, if you decide to come here, skip the food and just have a drink. On the plus side, they give you a nice green t-shirt when you check in.

Firstly- sat at table in what felt like the middle of narnia when better tables were ready. Eventually a waitress came to our table, no 'hi welcome to Dan rooneys etc' just 'are you ready to order. We ordered 2 drinks a starter and main course. Starter came out before the drinks, and there's was a long wait for the starter so no excuse on taking so long with the drinks, it was just to bottles of beer. Then, the nachos....like something from a movie theatre.....the cheese was like mayo and the ground beef was dry and days old..not worth it. Then I was about half way through my beer I though I better order one now, I might have it before my main course arrives... I manage to flag down my server after about 10mins and a number of waves at the manager, I ask for another beer. And then I look around and she's taken my half drank beer with her?? And them brings me a new beer? I would have liked to finish the first one! I ordered the burger, med, it was well done, rock hard on the outside, dry on the inside, and the cheese wasn't melted. My boyfriend had a roast beef and cheese sandwich, he took 2 bites from it and left it's the server came and picked it up, dropped our check....firstly, didnt think to ask if there was something wrong with the sandwich, then left a check, and I wasn't even half eat through my main course? Check came to almost $60 and for what? 2.5 beers. Movie nachos, and bad sandwich, and a dry burger....left a $3 dollar tip and a note to check yelp for my review.. Management need to get it together... Sanding around chatting doesn't cut it in my book and I work in the industry. In general food options in the casino aren't the best. Eat before you get here!

What a great time we are had at Dan Rooneys. Received a free tee shirt for checking in with yelps help. Joe the manager greeted us and answered all our questions. The staff was attentive. The service was great! Joe our waiter gave us a ticket for free valet! We tried an order of fried mushrooms and bbq. Chicken wings. Finger licking good! Fish and chips and a Dan Rooney burger. I opted for the salad instead of the chips with the burger. Both dinners were plentiful. Lemon sorbet for dessert. The gratuity is included in the check total. I love this restaurant. My husband and I come for dinner frequently. We have tried lots of things here. Some of my favorites are the loaded skins, watermelon salad with lobster, ny strip with onion rings and potatoe. We'll be back!

Look it's a sports pub. Anything goes wrong they are quick to correct the situation. Not perfect, I could bitch about minor things but let me be real. I hate sports pubs and I dig Dan Rooneys. Burgers , ribs, Chicken n Waffles. Chicago Blackhawks on no less then 3 channels. Most sports pubs snub Hockey.

If you ever want to witness the worst spinach artichoke dip of your life this is the place for you.. Not only does the staff act completely overwhelmed when the restaurant is 7.5 percent full but butt they aren't even friendly.. Our spinach dip was a frozen creamed spinach... And it was so sad... Chips were also stale as hell. Buffalo wings were good tho. I'm just so mentally scarred from that spinach catastrophe.

For birthdays, in addition to their usual desert options, you can order a cake in advance. This is a torte made with Splenda.

I am not a casino person by a long shot, but Dan Rooney's gives a very compelling reason to come to Empire Casino. To celebrate my father's 70th birthday, I wanted to fulfill a dream of his: going to Empire City. Since Empire Terrace is not open on Sunday nights (no horse racing), I looked over the other options. In the end, I'm kind of glad the Terrace was closed - we were thrilled with the service we received! Here's why: Options for small groups - I called well in advance to let them know of the occasion. We had someone who stayed in touch, and offered many options. I originally estimated a party of 10. I could have paid for everyone, a dollar amount per person, a drink for everyone etc. - in other words, I didn't have to lock my small family party down to a choice of "chicken or fish". In my case, I had everyone except my dad quietly chip in, and I sprung for a special cake, which leads me to... Flexible dining for people of many dietary needs: I'm giving these folks 5 stars, because I had some very special requests! The first of these was that my party had type 1 & type 2 diabetics as well as gluten/dairy sensitive people (self included). After some idea exchange, my contact at the restaurant arranged to have made a sugar free (splenda based) chocolate torte. Other options included an almond torte, or even bringing my own cake, which they would have cut for a minor serving fee. The cake was beautiful, tasted very rich, and even better - my father was able to eat it & feel well. As for the main dishes- it's Irish dining - don't expect tofu, the focus is on meat! However, there is a really nice variety of food here, including traditional comfort foods, such as Shepherd's pie & corned beef & cabbage; most everyone will find something they can eat here. Heck, there's even a veggie pita sandwich! The staff was happy to answer any questions we had about any dish, and readily make suggestions. The guys in our party were in heaven particularly enjoying their crisp, fish & chips, while I enjoyed the fresh rotisserie chicken - with sides, the portions are perfect and the presentation is pleasing. Although there was a slight mix up in the level of cooking for my mother's steak, they immediately sent it back to correct it, and when she did receive it, she found it to be very flavorful. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, with a touch of class: It's been many years since I've been to anything with the word "pub" in it (not good luck in the past), but whoever did the layout and decor is brilliant - they kept only the best parts. Notable are the heavy, lovely bar stools for the loners to share a drink over a game, tables for groups surrounding a piano, and - although I hate to give away my favorite spot... these fantastic booths which have curtains, giving a sense of privacy, but also have a TV if you want it. When my party dropped down to 6 (due to some confusion with travel arrangements), we added a chair to the end of one of these booths (thanks to the staff for the idea). With special advance permission, I brought my laptop, a hotspot, plugged into the outlet under the TV, and brought more family in via Skype. My dad was thrilled, and so were we. I understand that the restaurant will soon have WiFi available in the near future. Bring a set of mini speakers if you do what I did - the sound level is moderate, very good for holding conversations, but you'll need a boost to hear your online friends. By pure luck, we came in on a night when the piano man was in. They made it very easy to make requests, by providing sheets at the table. In addition to several other songs, on our request, the waiter and piano man arranged to sing a lively version of Happy Birthday, mentioning my dad's name several times throughout. We had a great time, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for a regular dinner or special day. Do give them a try!

This is what an $18 Salmon and "carrots" look like and it came raw! Horrible place.

They also have a full cocktail menu (with very pretty images), but we did not partake this time around. The avocado toast was just okay. I was excited because they seemed to have a unique preparation with dukka and chimichurri. The chimichurri was quite tasty. The bread was nice and hearty and the dressing on the side salad was pleasantly tangy. However, the avocado was not at all fresh. It was slightly brown and tasted like guacamole left in the fridge for a day or two. My husband got the chicken sandwich and was pleased with the taste, portion size, and accompanying fries. My lemonade was on the sweet side. I prefer a bit more of a fresh citrus taste so I asked for some lemon wedges and that helped. Our waiter was friendly.
