I've never understood why New England doesn't have more of a spa culture, so I'm genuinely glad…read morethis place exists - and overall, it's quite good! If I weren't a bit biased from being spoiled by Canadian and West Coast Korean spas, I'd probably give it 5+ stars. I love that there's a cold plunge, plenty of relaxation rooms, an unlimited stay, and massage chairs. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the facilities feel clean and well maintained. A few minor improvements would really take this place to the next level: - The steam rooms and hot saunas could be hotter. - The cost is steep. I fully understand that my expectations are colored by $30 West Coast spas, but a slightly lower price point would make frequent visits easier to justify. - The locker room/wet area was very loud. I appreciate that conversation is allowed, but the volume made it hard to fully relax. I'm not sure there's an easy fix without acoustic upgrades. - The Korean food was disappointing, especially for the price. - This is very personal preference, but I do enjoy the traditional no-bathing-suits culture. Most women were wearing bathing suits, which made me feel a bit self-conscious being the only one without. Totally on me, but worth mentioning if you're expecting a more traditional spa experience. Overall, I'm happy to have a spa like this in the area and hope it continues to improve. If you've never tried a spa like this before, I highly encourage giving it a shot!!

I have such a "love-hate" relationship with Spalight. When they first opened, this place was an…read moreabsolute dream--meticulously clean, welcoming, and my go-to spot to totally reset. Unfortunately, the facility has hit a bit of a decline lately. What used to be impeccably dry, clean floors are now prone to dust and hairballs, and it's gotten so wet in the wet sauna areas that they've just started putting out "caution" signs instead of actually keeping it dry. I've seen quite a few people slip. Even the "unlimited" towel perk has been downgraded to a strict two-towel limit, and the food portions and quality have shrunk exponentially compared to the cost they charge it at. That being said, there is one major saving grace: the Korean auntie who does the body scrubs. She is an absolute legend and deserves a massive raise for everything she puts up with! She's the main reason the experience still feels somewhat authentic and worth driving to. The rooms are also on the smaller side, so if you go during peak hours, it's definitely more "crowded" than "calm." Honestly, the only reason I still make the trip is that it's the only K-spa within a reasonable driving distance from Boston. If there were more local options, I'd probably skip the decline here and head straight to NJ or NYC for a higher-quality experience. It's still a decent option if you're desperate for a scrub and a soak without the four-hour drive, but I really miss the high standards they had at the beginning.

My Yelp Elite friend invited me to join her to have a Japanese Head Spa Treatment at One more…read moreBeauty Spa. I called a few weeks ahead to make an Express Japanese Scalp Therapy appointment for us. Two weeks later, I had to call back to reschedule the appointment. It was an easy process and there were no issues. Benefits of head spa treatment include strengthening of hair follicles, stimulating blood flow, reducing dandruff, easing headaches and tension, and cleansing of the scalp and hair. On the day of the appointment, my friend and I walked in and were directed to the treatment room. Our beds were next to each other, but there was a curtain separating us so we had privacy. We were given a robe and told the staff when ready. The employee did a deep scalp cleaning, water therapy, head massage, shoulder and neck meridian, shampooing, nourishing hair and blow dry. The treatment took about 30 minutes and I felt so relaxed after. My hair felt very clean and soft and looked more shiny and healthy. After getting dressed, I checked out, paid and tipped with my credit card which has a 3% surcharge. It would have been cool if my scalp and hair roots were analyzed using a microscope providing a detailed view of my scalp's condition like in other places, but that didn't take place here. One more Beauty Spa also offers other services like facials and I would be interested in coming back to try it.

To say I enjoyed the Scalp Head Spa treatment is an understatement--I SAVORED it. It was pure bliss for 70 minutes. Seeing my scalp magnified before and after the treatment to compare the difference was a nice touch. Monee, the owner, even capped the whole session with a cup of fragrant, complimentary herbal tea. If you prioritize self-care and love tuning out the world while being pampered, I highly recommend giving this treatment a try. I can only imagine this is how Japanese emperors and empresses were treated once upon a time, and now I, a commoner from Rhode Island, get to experience it too! :) I must have really loved it because I bought a package of three future treatments on the spot--and one gift card for my husband--at a good discount. This is the real deal. Don't fall for those salon "extended shampoo and massage" services masquerading as head spa treatments in shampoo chairs. Not even close. Go in with an open mind and enjoy this lovely experience. Highly recommended. UPDATE: I went in today for my second experience and yes, still heaven!
