Although it seems like a lot of money, I understand the reasons behind collecting a deposit (customers unexpectedly cancelling appointments, technician time to travel and diagnose issues, etc.). I paid the deposit and we confirmed the next available appointment was 3/20/25. On 3/14/25 I got an email (no phone call) telling me "Due to unforeseen circumstances we will not be able to complete your spa service on 3/20/25. Instead, we will be there 3/25/25". I was so frustrated and disappointed they had picked a new date without discussing it with me and that it was 5 days later. I discussed the issue with the service department, they apologized and said that was the earliest date. There was nothing more they could do. On 3/25/25, the day of my appointment, I get a voice message that said they needed to cancel the appointment and reschedule for 3/26/25. Because I have a fenced in yard with dogs I took the day off of work to be here. I'm beyond frustrated with NE Spas. Conveniently they took my money in less than 24hours but they have no problem rescheduling my appointments for 16 days. By the way their policy is no monetary refunds just store credit. So that's not even an option. I feel trapped because they have my money and left me no other option but to accept their dates.

This issue arose because I chose to plug in my tub (how hard could it be) because hiring an electrician to come to an island by boat is difficult. Turns out, an electrician would have known to clamp the main power cord. Pulling on it over time ended up shorting out the circuit board. That's when the fun began. NESpas made sure to order the right replacement board, put me on a group chat and walked me through the installation. I clamped the power cord and it's operated flawlessly ever since. Don't go anywhere else!

But on installation day, I was surprised to learn he had subcontracted the job to someone else, a contractor who was rude, unprofessional, and canceled because of light morning rain, even though the forecast cleared up by 9 a.m. Mark agreed with their decision and told me to call someone named Carlos, who could "get me in ASAP." I was confused why was I calling anyone else when I had hired him to do the job? We took time out of work to be home and based on the forecast for that day I found it ridiculous! I get if there is going to be chances of heavy rain then obviously a pool install should be cancelled but it was literally dry the ENTIRE DAY after 9 am and the ground was hardly wet where I live! When I questioned it, Mark told me he doesn't make money on the installs and just passes the work off to other contractors. He said he had "no time for me." I was never told the job would be subcontracted, even though the permit was pulled under his company's name. In the end, I can't recommend him due to the lack of honesty and professionalism. Fortunately, the second crew (despite bad reviews) showed up as promised, worked through the extreme heat, and did a great job!

Outstanding Experience with Mackillop Home Services LLC…read more Recently, I needed my pool assessed to see if it had to be completely replaced or if I could get away with just replacing the liner. The old liner had leaked and some of the sidewalls were bent--but not severely. I called another pool company to come take a look and give me their professional opinion. Over the phone, they told me flat-out that if the walls were bent--even a little--the entire pool had to be replaced. They refused to come look at it in person and quoted me around $7,000 total ($5,000 labor plus parts). Yikes! Then I saw an ad for Mackillop Home Services LLC and decided to reach out. I messaged Matt, and he called me back the next day. I explained the situation, and unlike the first company, he agreed to come check it out in person. After looking it over, Matt said the pool absolutely did not need to be replaced. He said we could simply straighten the bent walls and install a new liner--all for about $600, parts and labor included. Huge relief, and thousands of dollars saved! Matt was polite, punctual, and great at communicating every step of the way. We now have a brand new liner, no leaks, and are back to swimming with zero issues. If you're looking for honest, skilled, and reasonably priced pool service, look no further than Mackillop Home Services. Matt did an amazing job at a great price. 5-star service--highly recommended! I'll never call that "other" pool company again.

New England Spas would not provide me any information on his arrival time (morning or afternoon). He then stated that he needed to order a new controller and 2 Moto Message jets. He nor New England Spas could / would me the price nor when they would be available. This Wednesday, the tech showed up with the parts. He replace the controller and the 2 Moto Message jets. He did not test either one and left. I received an invoice for over $1400 and the 2 Moto Message jests do not work!!!!! It's impossible to talk to a real person. They do not provide and estimate on the cost or time during the day. Not even morning or afternoon. They are happy to sell you a new spa, but be very careful, they have the worst service I have ever seen.
