Do Not Ever Make A Complaint Because You Will Face Retaliation Even If You Are An Honest, Hard-Working Single Mother That Has NEVER Caused Issues and is Super Friendly with Everyone. I Even Help My Neighbors Put Their Trash in the Chutes For Them. :) No Dogs Allowed (even as a visitor or service dog) but 10+ Residents Have Dogs on the 102-108, 201-208, 301-308, 401-408 side. I moved here to be closer to my son and his school but I moved into the wrong school zone and his special needs bus cannot service him here so I'm looking forward to moving when my lease is up. I'm happy to leave behind the noisy and smelly apartment I've paid $2400/month to live in... my children and I literally sleep together in the living room because the rooms are too loud. The master bedroom's walls creak and pop due to the plastic pvc water pipes and the water heater that sounds like it's about to burst (which has been drained for sediment 3x in 10 months). The guest bedroom shares a wall with the front door so anytime someone slams their door, the bedroom walls shake. Scared my kids out of their room so yup- we just sleep together in the living room. Pearl La Floresta and Calligraphy Urban are the epitome of luxury apartments with the resort style feel. I'd start there first or at least consider those complexes if you're looking at The Pointe. The process of applying was the easiest I've ever experienced. The person who hosted the tour was kind, knowledgeable and not the least bit pushy. The apartments are modern and extremely well designed. It's not like most places as it's in a businesslike vicinity, but if you're looking for a different atmosphere, this is a good spot. You're in easy walking distance to Starbucks, El Torito Grill, Cedar Creek and Outback restaurants. Parking is definitely not a problem as it is in many other complexes these days. I am searching for an apartment in Brea or Yorba Linda. This complex is owned by a large corporation. You have to pay $250 to apply for a specific unit. I have gone to the Brea Police Department to ask about crime in this area, specifically the apartmets. They told me that recently there was a catalytic converter theft from the parking garage. I was close to applying but wanted to see what the area was like in the late afternoon. I also wanted to get a copy of the contract that I would have to sign. Today, Kheo Lai answered the phone and I asked him if I could see the contract that I would have to sign. He said I could not take the contract but that I could come read it in the office. So I went to the leasing office and he answered questions that I had reading thru the contract. He was polite and professional. Then, the property manager, an older woman, I think her name was Sherry but I am not sure since she did not introduce herself, lectured me for asking questions about the contract. She said I was being "negative" when wanting to know how long a repair would take if there was a problem with an appliance. She said "Asking these questions makes it hard for us" Okay... So, what did I learn in the time I was there? 1. You pay a $500 security deposit. On a one year lease when you move out they repaint and for a one bedroom it costs $488; so basically it's your whole deposit. They also charge for cleaning the apartment and cleaning the carpet in the bedroom. As a landlord of several rental properties in Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo I have never charged a tenant for repainting and patching small holes between tenants California law states that it "normal wear and tear" that the Landlord is responsible for paying; it is part of being a landlord of rental property. 2. They have a clause in there that says they can change anything regarding , well, anything. 3. It is a long walk from your parking space to your apartment. Some large complexes have an industrial cart or dolly the tenants can use but this place does not. Even a hotel has a carrier for their customers to use. So, carrying water, dog food, cat litter and all shopping is probably not fun. A woman was unloading her Costco shopping trip when I arrived today. As she was unloading she said "This is such a pain!!" without me asking her anything. 4. You are charged deposits and fees for everything. For example, you pay a $50 deposit for a FOB. However, if you lose it you are charged $75, not the $50 you paid, for some reason. 5. The tenant is responsible for...water, electric, gas?, sewer, insurance for the apartment which is not renters insurance but I guess for the building? There is a fee for them to read the meters for the use of water and sewer. 5. The smoking policy says that tobacco products are not allowed but is silent about marijuana and vaping. That was the issue that seemed to set her off. I had asked "If someone is smoking marijuana on the balcony above my unit, how is that handled?" So, I left because she said I was "negative" when asking for details about what I would legally have to sign and scolded me that I was "getting special treatment" by being allowed to review the contract. I told her "Well, I certainly don't want to make things hard for you" pushed the papers away and walked out. It's interesting that by me asking questions I am being negative but by them putting tons of legal language in the Lease Contract that is not negative but I guess in Sherys view a positive way to start a lease? In addition to the contract there are a dozen pages of Addendums. But, according to the property manager I was the one being negative by asking questions about the legal contract. She also said "You are asking to see the contract and you haven't even applied". So I guess they want your $250 plus more money to do the credit check and background check before you can even see what exactly you are applying for. read more

My fiancé and I have lived at The Pointe for almost a year and a half now. We have had nothing but GREAT experiences here. We both work in Irvine and the commute can be a pain and we were looking to move out towards Newport/Irvine to be closer after our 1 year came up, but we both consecutively decided that it was worth the drive to stay in Brea, at The Pointe, because we love it so much. I'm not sure why there are such negative reviews on here because I have not run into anything major, nor has my fiancé, but I will address them and my outlook on them. 1. No parking/one space per unit. - Yes, you only get one space allotted to you per unit, which can be a pain because these apartments aren't the most inexpensive and the majority of people do not live alone, HOWEVER, there is A TON of parking everywhere outside of the "resident parking" structure. The Office Parking structure directly underneath the complex can be utilized after 5:00pm every day as long as your car is gone by business hours in the morning, and anytime (including overnight) on the weekends. The parking structure literally across the road by Outback steakhouse can be utilized at any time! all you need to do is walk across the street and you are at the complex. There is also tons of parking outside, around the business center, so the complaints about the parking is pretty silly. 2. Loud/thin walls - We live on the 3rd floor of the complex so we have people occupying the areas above and below us. The people above us do have heavy feet and we occasionally can hear them walking around, but it is hardly noticeable and really not something that has become an annoyance for us. The complex itself is very quiet, which we love and for the most part people are very courteous of their neighbors. 3. Management Office - Katrina and Kheo have always been helpful when we needed it (which isn't often). I think they really take pride in their complex which is why they are the nicest units in brea. Every time I've needed something or have had a question, I'd just walk into the office and they would be there and have always helped us on the spot. If it was after office hours, I'd call and leave a voicemail or email them and I'd get a response early the next day. They leave celebratory notes and treats on everyone's doors when it is their birthdays, and I think we even got something on Valentines day or a day that isn't always celebrated. . . Regardless, I love it. I think it is so cool and so thoughtful to have something waiting for you when you get home from work, just because. So, no complaints from us on management. I think they have been and continue to be great. 4. Cleanliness/outside courtyards - This place is ALWAYS clean. I mean, the occasional pieces of trash on the ground or debris is inevitable, but literally I don't think I have ever not seen someone cleaning or gardening or sweeping, etc. . . and they are SO NICE! You can tell they work really hard keeping The Pointe looking nice and it truly shows. The pool is SUPER tiny, which is really the only thing that is a bummer! But it's because of the weight restrictions. The parking is below it so they can't have anything too big, which is understandable. . . but still a bummer! I haven't gone to the pool once since we moved in. 5. Security - One of the main reasons we moved here was because it felt secure. They have guards walking around all night patrolling the area and the structure is gated and locked after office hours which is great. They definitely do their jobs. Multiple times I have been on the phone and have pulled up next to a curb to finish my conversation because their is no service in the structure, and every single time a guard will come up to my car and ask what I'm doing or why I'm there. They recognize me now, but I would have to tell them I was a resident finishing a conversation. Always super nice and while many people may get annoyed by this, I love it!!! because it shows me that they are trying to keep the area as safe as possible. All-in-all - This place is fantastic. I have had nothing but great experiences here and it is in a PERFECT location. This was an extremely long review, but I think it is necessary and well deserved. I have lived at The Pointe for 1 year. The ONLY reason I'm leaving is because I am moving down to Costa Mesa for work and the commute is a bit too long. Honestly I have no complaints about this place! They offer 1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms. Our 1 bedroom is HUGE! Two closets, two sinks, and lots of living space! We live on the third floor next to and across from people. People are a bit introverted here. But they do participate in the mixers! (I'll mention those later) -Cost Apartments may seem pricey, but definitely worth it. Couldn't find anything less expensive around here that isn't a shit-hole. You get what you pay for! Worth the investment. -Staff Friendly staff that live in the complex and always do their best to accommodate you! No complaints whatsoever. They also host a mixer or two every month! KFC dinner, snow cones, pizza party, and more! -Security 24 hour security, parking garage is gated, doors require FOB for entry, etc. Never have had a problem with any type of vandalism. -Parking situation You get one spot per apartment. There are 2 overflow/overnight lots as well as guest spots. Some numbered spots are also for guests. -Apartments They are new, clean, and disguise noise extremely well! I've only ever heard a few noises from the people above and even then its extremely quiet. They are also all within walking distance of Outback Steakhouse, Souplantation, El Torito Grill, and another nice restaurant! -Residents Apartments are a bit pricey, so residents are mainly adults with children, or just single people. I have heard one party's music, and even then it was off by midnight. Our apartment is above the pool, and it gets pretty rowdy on summer days. But again, its not a big problem. Other than that, no noise complaints! Basically, this place is AMAZING. I have loved every minute of my time here and wish I could stay longer! I can't say enough good things about this apartment complex. After living in 6 other apartment complexes, The Pointe is by far the best. The entire staff (Kheo/Katraina) always greet you with a smile and were very helpful to our needs. They are quick to attend to any problems that arise and the grounds and are always kept clean every day by friendly courteous workers. I've had no issues with loud parties, no issues with dirty neighbors and the complex always felt safe. If we hadn't purchased a house we would of definitely stayed and renewed our lease. The Pointe is a pretty nice place to live if you can afford it. They offer spacious 1 and 2 bedroom apts with laminate flooring, granite countertops and all major appliances, including a washer/dryer combo. A 1 bedroom is already 950 sq ft with high ceilings so this place feels a lot bigger than most apts you'll find in Brea. Location: Any apt near the courtyards and pool will tend to have more noise because there are kids that do play outside on afternoons. Another thing is if you do have an apt facing a courtyard you'll have to buy an amplifier for cell reception, it's not too expensive but I sort of think management should cover that since they know these particular apts have no reception whatsoever. Security: You'll see security patrolling the area and the surrounding business park. If you have issues you can reach them anytime on their cell phones. They do a pretty good job of keeping the noise down after 10pm. Each resident is given a key FOB to access doors, gates, etc. Parking: There is one assigned parking spot per apt. There are a few guests spots scattered throughout the resident's parking lot. There is also a shared parking garage under the resident's parking to be used Mon-Fri from 5pm-8am (non business hours) free all weekend and holidays. If you do have guests over on a week day during business hours and there are no guests spots left, there is an additional parking garage across the street that may be used by residents 24/7. Either way, there is ample parking. They provide better solutions to parking then most places. You just have to walk a bit, but I guess some might see it as no guest parking if they're too lazy to walk. Staff/maintenance: Staff is friendly. They host some kind mixer every month. You might have a shaved ice from Oahu Shaved Ice, catered food from El Torito Grill, BBQs, breakfast in bags handed out at the gate as you drive to work in the morning, taco tuesdays, etc. Work orders are processed in a timely manner and things get fixed pretty quickly. I'm sure rent will go up as it does every yr at any apt but I'm pretty happy here for now. Oh, this is also a smoke free complex which is such a welcome change from other places. Oh, the one thing that sucks is the traffic on Lambert. Since the apt is located in a business park, between 4-6pm it's hard to exit because everyone is trying to get onto the freeway. read more

Stay away. I would never recommend these residences to anyone. One star is generous. My wife and I stayed here for 2+ years and had a handful of awful experiences. Here's a summary: 1. Upon ending your lease you can expect a 3+ page document outlining every item you need to clean. Each line item has a cost (e.g. clean window screens on unit or $25 / window). The list is absurd and they will take every penny of your deposit without question. 2. They charged us for $750+ for carpet repair for stains they could not prove. The carpet was 8-10 years old. Use your own logic on this one. 3. They are horrible at repairs. Over a 2 year period one of the doors was useable only 50% of the time because the key FOB was broken. They never fixed it. 4. The main entrance smells like trash as they don't keep the area clean. 5. In the summer time they don't cool the hallways or turn the fans on. My fiancé and I have lived here for a year and we could not be happier with the staff at The Pointe. Katrina has been so wonderful when we did have minor issues (which was very rare) like our toilet sticking, maintenance was there same day! The parking situation could not be better! There is a whole parking structure for over flow and a whole second floor in same building. Honestly those who complain about parking here are just LAZY! There is so much parking here we had 3 cars at once parked in overflow structure for a month without moving and never had an issue. The only reason we are regretfully moving out is because we are looking for a two bedroom now and in order to stay in our budget we will have to downgrade a bit. We have had such a hard time finding a complex that has the great parking we have now. In the city of Brea you are not allowed to park on streets overnight so parking like this is so nice. The apartment itself is new, and comes with all appliances. I have never had any issues with noise. We have been living on the freeway side and closing the windows cancels out all the noise. It is such a quite and safe building. I wish we didn't have to move. read more

I would give this property a 4 if my apartment did NOT face the courtyard. I work from home and it is quiet until 11am on weekends and 4pm weekdays, than it turns into a daycare center until 7/8pm. I do not mean daycare in the literal sense, it is really the kids coming out to play unsupervised, using the walls to play handball and tennis, and the elevators to play hide & seek, running up and down the hallways, yelling at the top of their lungs in the courtyard, etc. I've been here for almost 4 months, so I believe it is safe to say this is a permanent situation. And it may escalate during the summer months. The positives: 1. The property is kept very clean, the community grills out in the courtyards are cleaned daily, and you see staff cleaning everyday. However if you want to use the grills - BEWARE!! The kids are not shy about running around you and playing near the hot grills (where are their parents?) and if you sit at one of the tables with food you run the chance that one of their balls will fall into your spread. I've only used the grills once, and from that experience it will probably be my last. 2. The property is conveniently located to freeways, shopping, dining, etc. And it is just down the hill from Brea High School and they have a great track for running. 3. The property is safe and residents are required to use their key fob or garage remote to enter. My main advice if you move here is to avoid any courtyard facing properties, especially if you like to open your windows. Once our 12 month lease is up we will definitely move. Katrina was a pleasure to work with from the management office but unfortunately, I didn't get to move here because of unforeseen circumstances with the moving and room mate situation. We recently moved out Pointe Brea after living here for a few years. The place is quiet, and up until recently, well-maintained. Within the last six months we have seen trash stacked up around the garbage chute, and long trails of greasy drippings down the sidewalks leading up to the garbage chute. Prior to the pandemic we saw the maintenance folks hosing down the walkways regularly, but haven't seen that in months. The place needs a good pressure wash. When people move out they leave their unwanted items piled by the elevator and it stays there for days. The rent is too high here to be dealing with trash, greasy/sticky sidewalks and debris. read more

Living at Pointe apartments has been a great experience. The units are fairly new, clean and a good size. Our one bedroom apartment is about 900 sqft. They offer two bedroom apartments as well. In-unit laundry is very convenient. Freeway close. The common areas such as the gym, pool, BBQ areas are clean and well kept. The BBQ grills are cleaned everyday and are frequently being used by tenants. They even have outdoor fireplaces to hang out around at night. Management is very helpful and responsive whenever we have had minor problems come up. Being gated and having 24 hr security walking around makes us our home feel safe. This place is the worst apartment that I have ever lived in First, they never even gave my apartment a run thru before I moved in. Because of that, there were still dirty clothes in the washer, a broken cabinet laying on the floor, food splatters everywhere in the kitchen, a broken heating/ ac unit, a broken washer and a very poor quality dryer. They then apologized and said they will have a cleaning company clean my place before i moved in, which was prorated some days because they weren't ready, so i had to sleep on someone's couch in the mean time. If by cleaning company, they meant having an employee simply remove the clothing from the washer and hanging up the cabinet( which later fell off again smh), then bravo they did their job! That was February, its mid June and i have yet to have a washer or heat/ac unit that works.forget even the dishwasher being usable as i dont think they would know how to fix it. It's so hot in here that i can't even use my oven! And i pay monthly for upgraded appliances lol!! This place is a joke. The pool is crazy small. I feel like the management must be displaying prejudice at this point because i dont understand why else they repeatedly take forever to provide maintenance, and when they do, the appliances still don't work! I've lived here since summer 2014. I love the per unit w/d. It has definitely spoiled me. I've lived in a house all my life except for time before this one where community w/d exist. Maintenance team is definitely a factor to consider if moving in or current residents. They are awesome!! Maintenance gets addressed within 24 hours of placing service online. The office has Saturday open hours. Yard well maintained. Choose outer units. Courtyard units has no signal, n absorbs community noise when there are gatherings near bbq area or pool area. Cons: 1) Parking needs power washing, esp in p2 section. 2) lack of parking. Whether you are in one or two bdrm units, all only have one assigned parking. 3) one office staff, kheo , has a know it all attitude, but tolerable. I just avoid him when possible. I've witness how he talks to maintenance team. He tends to b condescending. I highly recommended THE Pointe apt homes. read more

We just moved out of this place. First of all it is WAY overpriced. After two years, they raised our rent so we decided to move out. We had $500 in deposit which they only gave us $225 back because 'the floor needed to be fixed'...MY ASS. Don't move in here. They trick you and will take anything from your deposi! And not to mention their photos look nothing like the place! Save your time and money and look elsewhere! Also, first floor you can hear EVERYTHING that goes on above you, including dishwasher, washing machine, loud kids. Security is good but that's about it. Way too pricy! Can't believe we lasted that long and threw away that much money. We now live in a place just as nice that is $400 less a month! Crazy! read more

The Pointe is a great place to live. I was there for just over 1 year and only moved out because my roommate and his girlfriend were buying a house together. The price is on the higher side, but you get what you pay for. As another reviewer mentioned, the place is kept very clean. They hose down all the walking surfaces on every floor, clean grills, I have never seen a bit of trash sitting around anywhere. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. They even remembered our names after the first day. I'm sorry to say I cannot do the same for them. I remember Kao's name (if i spelled that right), but I can't seem to remember the girl's name (sorry). Repairs are taken care of promptly. They notify you of any events, city required inspections, or concerns. We even got a 'happy birthday' goodie bag for my roommate's girlfriend who also lived with us. I don't remember getting one for me or my roommate though. Maybe its a girl thing? Not that it really matters, but it was a nice thought on their part! Parking is a breeze. We are working professionals and although we only got the one assigned space, there was always plenty of parking in the shared business lot (by the time I got home and left for work in the morning, it was well within the allotted 'open parking' time). Security walking the complex was always comforting and they actually did do more than just walk around. If you had a noise complaint (which we got once when watching a movie with a lot of bass, understandable), the security guards were the ones to knock on your door. They were always very decent about letting you know to turn down the volume. The apartments are nice and new. The pictures for this complex's yelp page are very accurate with the exception of the pool which is more like a very large Jacuzzi minus the jets, and the gym, which is quite compact. Otherwise, I feel like the images here are the only accurate images I have ever seen for an apartment complex. Normally you see some nice pictures but as soon as you go visit the place its a bit of a dump by comparison. My only complaints: Their online payment system locks you out after 2 or 3 tries and you have to call in to have it unlocked and re-set. Its more my fault that I couldn't remember my password but I feel it should be a bit more lenient. I decided that I would rather just walk the check into the rental office instead. The water pressure is a bit weak (probably some extreme water saving aerators installed, didn't really take the time to check) and for some reason, it would take quite a while for hot water to reach any given faucet or bath fixture even though the water heater is in the unit off to the side of the balcony. I couldn't figure that one out. I never heard it, but my roommate said he would hear 'water hammer' in the pipes around their bedroom when the upstairs neighbors would turn on a faucet. It happens. Nothing is perfect and it obviously wasn't so loud that it was a major problem. They still slept fine at night. Yes there are kids who run around and play. It can be a bit obnoxious, but I personally feel better living around families as opposed to disrespectful college kids who party all night long and mess the place up (someone did etch some jibberish into a stainless steel panel in one of the elevators once which really pisses me off especially in such a nice complex, so there are one or two disrespectful d-bags in there from time to time). Would I live here again? Absolutely. It was safe, clean, and being only about 3 years old, still very new looking. Granite countertops everywhere. Unique but attractive 'hard wood' laminate flooring and tile in the bathrooms and kitchen. Very friendly staff. I'm sure I'm missing many good points about this place, but I don't want to make this any longer. You definitely get what you pay for here. And it doesn't hurt to be able to walk to Soup Plantation in your slippers whenever you get hungry either. read more

My husband and I have lived here for almost 3 years and our experience at the Pointe has been excellent. The apartment itself is very new, with nice laminate floors, spacious living space, in-unit W/D, and a practical floor plan. The walls are sound proof for the most part. If your unit faces the courtyard, there will be courtyard noise from kids playing or people having occasional gatherings, but we don't mind the noise too much. The entire complex is kept clean and aesthetically pleasing. The owner continues to improve the complex. From our time here, we've noticed them changing the speed bumps in the parking structure to be more pleasant to drive over, to adding nice umbrellas over the tables/chairs in the courtyard, to changing out the couch cushions in the courtyard to new ones. They have grills that are cleaned out every day. Also, when we have maintenance needs, the maintenance guy, Rosalio, is quick to come and fix whatever problems we have had. There are also monthly apartment socials in which we get free food and goodies. The Leasing Office Staff is also very friendly and seem to know their residents by name and apartment number, haha. They are very pleasant people. They are also willing to offer us a better rental rate if we ask. The only downside I can think of is that the complex does not offer recycling services. I have to drive to Alamo recycling or somewhere else to take care of that. read more

Trust me save your money do not move here you will feel you've made a better investment and greater peace of mind elsewhere! During March madness I was preparing for a gathering and cleaning my house while having Pandora on and was contacted by the leasing office being told that my music was too loud! The two weekends later during the final four I was interrupted by a leasing office agent (Katrina Lewis) being told that my music was too loud who then became argumentative when I began to reiterate some of the things listed here on yelp in regards to noise issues with children, thin walls and noise insulation in general. It is also absolutely true regarding the parking there is a man who walks around patrolling guest parking spaces placing used to bits of tissue on peoples windshields and stuffing them in their car windows or moonroofs, if open, because you are parked in a guest parking spot and he is not able to make use of one. The rent here is between $1850 and $2300 but you are simply paying for a place to rest your head you cannot LIVE here and be comfortable save your money-- look elsewhere. And they can certainly find more professional help by placing a wanted ad in the Pennysaver! Every single thing that you read on here is true the place is very clean the residences are quite nice however the other things that were written were true as well. Kheo Lai the leading agent is rude Katrina is rude Sharee is absentee and there's only one way to reach everyone... by sending an email to one group email address and not reaching someone directly. I have never been so agitated by the leasing office staff people since I have been a renter. read more

RUDE staff !!!! FORGET ABOUT YOUR WHOLE DEPOSIT because regardless of how clean your apartment is, they will find something to charge you. The apartment is too pricey anyways. NO GUEST parking what so ever. Parking in general is such a hassle and if you have more than one car you are screwed !! .. the pool is smaller than your grandma's fountain, so just make a visit to see paying that much rent is worth it !!
