Stopped in today for breakfast while between appointments. This seems more of a take away place as everyone who ordered while I was there for an hour took it to go. I ordered banana pancakes, and they were so yummy! It's rare to find a place that actually cooks the banana in the batter. The pancakes were light and fluffy. They' were served on a paper plate covered with foil, two to-go sauce containers of syrup, and two squares of butter. I didn't love eating them with a plastic fork and knife as it's a little clumsy but it's not a deal breaker. The to-go style plate came in handy as I could only eat one pancake. The woman at the counter was efficient, not the warmest, so I was sure to walk back in after I ate and thank her and the cook. I was excited to try this place but was underwhelmed. I came on a Friday at dinner time. When I arrived the first thing I noticed was the overflowing trash cans right outside the restaurant. Once inside, I was greeted and noticed the A/C and the tons of food options. I looked at their Yelp page for their location on East Cliff and noticed the most popular item was the Cali breakfast burrito. So, I ordered the large Cali breakfast burrito with salsa. While I waited for my food to be ready, I went outside and picked a table to eat at. I quickly realized that because the two trash cans outside were full, they had attracted lots of yellow jackets. Since I do not like yellow jackets bothering me while I eat, I moved inside. My food was ready quickly and was amazed by the size of the burrito! That is about where the excitement ended. The burrito lacked flavor and was kind of bland. The beef in the burrito had gristle. There was no salsa inside the burrito or on the side even though I said yes to salsa. One suggestion for inside would be to have a water jug for people to get water themselves. I am willing to give this place another try once they work out the kinks that I mentioned. read more

I was super excited about the new opening as I love the Capitola location, but today I placed an order online for the salmon lox panini. When I arrived at the store to pick it up, I noticed it was $4 cheaper on the store menu than what I had just paid, and pointed it out to the cashier on my phone. She straight-up said, "not my fault!", refused to give me the difference back, and turned back around to continue what she had been doing. Didn't show the slightest hint of concern, offer to rectify the situation, or even say she'd inform management. Very disappointed, especially when I had the proof to show I had overpaid. Burritos are huge and loaded with fillings and sauce, so you get a great deal for the amount you pay. I ordered the Deluxe Breakfast Burrito, and it was delicious. There was a lot of pesto and there was no shortage of artichoke hearts. Plus there was enough cheese that it gave it a good flavor and cheese pull, while not having globs of it in random bites. These burritos are perfect to split with someone, or to spread out over two meals because of how large they are! I just met family here for lunch. They said their pastrami sandwich was awful and inedible. When they complained, the worker said that they were served turkey pastrami. The pastrami was reheated to the point where it's edges were crusty and hard. I looked at the sandwich myself and it looked terrible. When they complained to the owner, he was flippant and dismissive. I don't recommend this place if you're looking for traditional pastrami sandwiches or menu transparency. read more

WORST burritos we ever had! The other burrito reviews cannot be real. That's impossible. This is California, so everyone has access to good burritos; in my experience, locals have educated tastes around this dish. So there is no way those reviews are not manipulated somehow. I ordered a steak burrito, and I received a ham one. I didn't complain because I know the struggle in the restaurant biz. A ham burrito can be a great one too, but NOT HERE! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. I apologize for the blurry ones. But overall: - Old, dry, overcooked potatoes. Felt like they were cooked days ago. - Dry and SUPER overcooked/burnt eggs (see pics). - Flavorless. Every bite felt bland. We needed a lot of salsa (which was basic, too). - The cheese was not melted (see pic). - Too much tortilla wrap (basic tortilla taste too, no freshness in it; you can tell it was warmed up on an oily, dirty grill). To the owner: please put some care into your restaurant. Scotts Valley deserves a better food scene. To customers: AVOID! There are so many great Mexican restaurants around the area. Yay they opened another one and it's in Scott's Valley. Everything we have ordered is delicious. The breakfast burrito with soy Chorizo is so good, it's spicy, tasty with sautéed red & green bell peppers and onions. The portions are quite generous.. Chilaquiles with soy chorizo is savory and so delicious, as are the Birria tacos or try the great light tasty wedge French fries & delicious onion rings with your smash burger. Smoothies, coffees, sandwiches, pastries are quite good. A little wait but worth it. Prices are reasonable. Food is freshly cooked to order. Heard a lot of hype and positive things about The Point before going, but it's sadly not true; at least in this first experience/impression. They seem to not have enough staff. I waited ~10 minutes around noon on a Friday in front of the register while the only person behind the register seemed preoccupied making 1 cup of coffee in the espresso machine and poking around the store (unsure what she was doing but it did not seem important). Didn't even bother acknowledging her non-essential preoccupied-ness when she "finally noticed me." It's lunch time, come on? There were a few people waiting behind me as well so just poor customer service here, but for noon on a Friday it was not very busy at all. They had 2 people in the kitchen working at about 70% efficiency and seemed to enjoy chatting rather than working. Finally got to order their current special, Birria Burrito. The person behind the counter got all confused about what the price was, which was odd to see. Flavor was around 5/10, portion was 10/10, however it was horrendously dry. It was a burrito filled with just pinto beans, birria, cilantro and onions. They need to add some sort consommé or provide something as a side to combat the overall dryness. Also, purchased two cookies - chocolate chip and snickerdoodle. Both were stale beyond belief. They have tons of baked goods, but knowing they can't even make cookies or provide a decently fresh chocolate chip cookie, I would not recommend buying any other option. Only thing that gets them 2/5 is the portion of the burrito was substantial and they do have a lot of options; regardless if they are edible or not. Pricing is on the higher side as well, but the quality of the food does not justify this. I will give them a second chance sometime distant in the future in the hopes they fix some simple things, but overall quite disappointed with how much this place gets glazed. read more

Eggs Benedict was not great with a cooked egg. The potatoes were good! They use a very strong spice and it's prevalent in all the food. The eggs Benedict, the burritos, and the potatoes all have that same flavor. Not sure if it's cumin, but it's very strong. read more

Everyone has been raving about this place since it opened so we decided to try it. I asked the counter person if a dish was mild or spicy, making it clear that I could not tolerate spicy foods. I was told the dish was mild. Asked a second time to be sure and got the same response. Got home and tried to eat it and it was WAY TOO SPICY!!! This was the queso birria. My partner had a regular quesadilla, and it was just OK, nothing great. The I returned there today and got a very brusque response from the person at the counter, instead of an apology or even a little understanding. He said I should have come back sooner - it's a long drive from where we live, so by the time we got around to trying our food it was too late for that. I am so excited to see the Point come to Scott's Valley - we've been enjoying breakfast burritos on East cliff for years. I've been back 3 times in the few weeks they've been open. The menu is surprisingly extensive and everything we've tried has been delicious. The atmosphere is very casual - order at the counter and they bring you your food. Most of the seating is outside (hoping they get a few more tables because it's been busy every time)! With young kids, we really appreciate the casualness. I've had the Açaí and Mango smoothies, both were great, but the Mango was exceptional. The açaí bowl is basic, but refreshing. The Mahi tacos are delicious. The kids ate the chicken tenders - so that's a win! The fries are more like potato wedges, which the kids weren't a huge fan of, but they were very tasty. The smash burger has been my favorite so far. Super tasty, good size, a little messy (just how I like it). The staff is extremely kind and friendly. Highly recommend stopping here for take out and eating at Skypark or sitting down for a casual bite. read more

A welcome addition to Scott's Valley! We've been a few times now, and have tried something different each time. Breakfast, burritos, sandwiches, paninis, milkshakes, baked goods, all of it has been solid. (I'm obsessed with their potato wedges.) It's not easy to have such an extensive menu, but they seem to be doing a great job. You can order online or on the phone, but every time I go in person there's also some new special that I wish I had seen before ordering ahead! They're halal and also highlight vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. The best part though, are the people. I love supporting local businesses, but it's even better when the people running them are kind, friendly, and welcoming. Earlier today I went to pick up food and a couple came in HOT and aggressive because they had been accidentally overcharged by a new employee. They got multiple apologies and a refund as fast as possible but still were being obnoxious and loud even after the fact- let me tell you the employees had the patience of preschool teachers the way they calmly handled the situation! Said online ordering was the preferred method, so I downloaded the app and started my order only to then notice that every item was ~$3 more than the menu on the website...so I'm paying more to use their preferred order method and pick it up??? But they're local so I trudge on and complete my order, and as I go to check out I now notice that they are adding a service fee, and asking for a tip. The total for 3 burgers with tax was now $73!!! I was able to eat here twice over the weekend. The first was for lunch, I asked the Chase bank rep where to get the best sandwich, and she pointed me across the plaza driveway. I had a BLT sandwich, exactly what I expected, and at a fair price. I met Adar the owner's son and the next night my son and I had dinner there and met the owner, Hassan, very friendly people and grateful that you've chosen the Point to have a meal. My son had the Fish and Chips, while I had the Eggs Benedict, great presentation. It's simple inside and out with tables and chairs, they have limited space due to their location, but it works great!
