    Crispy Taco with carnitas
    Steph W.

This is my favorite taqueria anywhere. I love to pick up take out and head to the beach nearby to enjoy. I always get crispy tacos or a super burrito. Carnitas and Al Pastor are . The salsa bar is amazing too. Food is fresh and comes out quickly. Parking is super easy.

I am absolutely in love with this place! I came to Aptos to visit a friend and we decided on this spot for dinner. It was a quick drive from our Airbnb. Upon arrival, there were about 10 people in line in front of us. The staff were friendly and efficient, and it wasn't long before we were able to place our orders. We tried some of the delicious chips and salsas from the salsa bar, and our burritos came out shortly afterwards. I had the California burrito which was massive and delicious! I usually finish my meal, but this was one I had to pack up and save for later that night. The only change I would make was that the chicken was advertised as pollo asado/grilled chicken, but came out more like braised chicken (without the grilled flavor and spice). Throughout our visit, the line to the cashier stayed around 10 people, with lots of locals coming and going. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu here!

I know you want to go to this place for their tacos, burritos, toastadas and enchiladas. They are good but I want to encourage you all to try their other goods. One such is Diablo shrimp (camarones a la diabla). You won't be disappointed- spicy, flavorful, comforting. Comes with side of beans, rice and creamy avocado crema to calm down those spices. Beef fajitas - another classic, plenty of meat, sides and tortillas provided. Some of the other recommendations I have are - Menudo on Sat and Sun, Camarones rancheros, their torta and tostada are fantastic as well.

This is for the service. The young woman who rang me up, entered her own tip. I ordered. I used my tap feature, and she hit the screen and gave me my receipt. I did not even get a chance to choose how much I tipped or even if I wanted to tip. one burrito one drink on a takeout order, she tipped herself $3. I wrote an email to whoever. I hope they train this young woman that that is theft and not OK. Get your receipt and look at the tip. SHAME

**3.75 stars overall** Food/Menu: 3.5 stars Price: 4 stars Service: 4 stars Location: 4 stars This Pericos is a conveniently-located fast food taqueria in the Safeway shopping area, in the same building as Peet's. There is easy parking and plenty of tables inside. I've seen a few large groups dining there. There is always a long line to order, but I see that as a positive: it's a testament to how much people like the food! Most seem to order to-go, so seating hasn't been a problem for me. The food is cooked quickly, the staff clears tables right away, and the flavors are on-point! I like the chips and salsa bar, though I prefer my chips thicker and salted. To be frank, I think the food is a little above average, the price is decent, but it's the service I like most. They are quick and friendly here. I even heard one of the cooks singing to the music when I was eating! Love that! It shows people enjoy working there, which creates a positive vibe.

However, the service was a bit spotty but not bad enough to substract any stars. They are students after all and one must learn. I know i couldn't do a better job. It had been many years since my last visit, and my nephew had most recently visited in December, so our prior experiences were quite varied. The restaurant's location and grounds are beautiful, and the food was good overall. Here are some specific highlights and areas for improvement: Upsides: We increased our party size from four to five earlier in the day, and the restaurant was able to accommodate the change. We were seated in the Greenhouse Room, which was lovely and offered great views. The appetizers and cocktails were very good. The prime rib and pork chop were particularly excellent, and I would definitely order either again. Downsides: The service left a lot to be desired. Our reservation was for 6:30 p.m., but we weren't seated until well after 7:00 p.m. Once seated, we waited about 20 minutes before our server came to the table. After taking our drink orders, were immediately asked if we were ready to order our entrées.  My wife and daughters ordered the Steak au Poivre. The steaks were under-seasoned and were not cooked to the requested temperatures. There seemed to be more emphasis on achieving prominent grill marks than developing a proper crust. Additionally, a staff member cleared my nephew's plate before he had finished eating. He's younger and didn't feel comfortable speaking up at the time, but he later told us he was still working on his meal. Given that this is not an inexpensive restaurant, I expected a higher level of service and more attentive staff training. That said, even with these shortcomings, I will definitely return. The restaurant itself and the surrounding grounds are truly remarkable and worth a visit on their own. I trust the food and service issues we experienced were outliers. Even great restaurants have an off night.

We got there about 10 am and had a bit of a wait with people continuously arriving so it's clearly popular. You write your name down and request inside or out or first available. It was a bit chilly so we opted for inside. We were seated after about 20 minutes. It's pretty small inside so the addition of the picnic tables outside is a plus. We all ordered different items, sausage and eggs, bacon and eggs and blueberry pancakes. The egg breakfasts came with a side of either toast, a pumpkin muffin or a cinnamon roll. We ordered a muffin and a roll. The food arrived fairly quickly which was good because after a 2 hour drive we were ready to grub. The egg breakfasts were pretty average in taste and portion. The blueberry pancakes however were good a good size and came with 3. I did think the pumpkin muffin was fire and my bf said the cinnamon roll was excellent so maybe it's their baked goods that are part of what makes this place so popular? I didn't think the amount of food we got was that much of a value as it was a $60 breakfast. Other downsides for me was the parking situation which is common in SC. We found a spot about 2 blocks away. Also, the bathroom is outside and in dire need of a makeover. Lastly, they don't take cards. It's cash or check only. WTH? I haven't seen a restaurant take checks since I was a kid so that's been a minute, lol. Overall I can't really see myself returning other than to get the pumpkin muffin or cinnamon roll. Maybe I just need to try something different.

Now, I say "prawns" because apparently there was a little seafood identity crisis happening -- they were actually shrimp! They had this amazing smoky flavor that I absolutely loved. Seriously, those beans were ridiculously good. The Linguine Cruise was also excellent, and even though my "prawns" turned out to be shrimp, they were still damn good! We started with the calamari, which was honestly some of the best I've ever had, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We also ordered the seasonal Caprese (tomato stack) salad, which was incredibly fresh with a wonderful combination of flavors. Even the complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar stood out. The balsamic was so good I forgot to ask what brand they use so I could buy some for home! Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful. When I ordered the fettuccine with steak, she thoughtfully confirmed whether I wanted the Gorgonzola Alfredo or the traditional Alfredo sauce. I chose the traditional Alfredo, and it was absolutely perfect. I shared it with my daughter, so the photo shows about half of the original portion. Everyone at our table loved their meals. The rotisserie chicken received rave reviews as well, although I forgot to take a photo. If the weather is nice, don't miss the outdoor patios. There's a table for six near the fireplace that looked especially inviting. I wanted to take a picture, but I couldn't get the angle without including other diners in the frame. In hindsight, that's partly on me since seafood fettuccine isn't exactly a dish I usually expect to be exceptional anywhere. The Alfredo sauce was bland and needed a lot of pepper to bring some life to it. Most of the seafood was overcooked and chewy, particularly the fish. The clams were probably the best part of the dish and were cooked reasonably well. Overall, the view was fantastic, but beyond that, the meal didn't do much for me. Also ordered their vegetable green bean with garlic sauce dish, and the green beans were cooked nicely although a side order of green beans for $16? Yes, I made the decision to order simply because I wanted a veggie with the rest of the meal. I ordered a chicken breast dish that was coated in some sort of a Panko-ish crunch. That was good although I wasn't expecting it to be fried. When you're hungry, you just eat it anyway...
