Food was excellent, after a couple of tweaks for us vegans! The veggie burrito (without crema and cheese) is so delicious! It tastes like the best seasoned fajitas but wrapped up in a tortilla. The veggie comes in a spinach tortilla, which makes you feel like you are eating so healthy too! They have amazing hot sauces. We could only have 2/3 because one has crema, but wow they were delicious. The red salsa they serve with their chips (which were fresh as can be the two times we ate here in the past month) was scrumptious. It is clear that someone in the kitchen cares enough to cook with great spices, and to make sure things are done incredibly - not overcooked, not undercooked, not overseasoned, not underseasoned. The food is amazingly flavorful. The person who helped us was incredibly kind. We were greeted with a smile and she seemed to really enjoy meeting our needs. That was really refreshing in a world where everyone seems to be in a hurry to get somewhere else. It led to a great experience. The place itself is definitely not fancy. There's a little patio out back that is cute. We ate at a table directly in front of the window. We now make this a destination when we are hanging out along the Monterey Bay as it is truly one of the best spots for a quick bite of Mexican food that is super flavorful! read more

If you're craving authentic Mexican food that hits the soul and the stomach, do yourself a favor and show this place some love. I've tried countless spots in the area, but no place comes close to their birria or salsa. It's flavor-packed, rich, and fulfilling. I wish I got a better photo but trust! The staff here treat you like familia and make you feel welcomed. Their warmth and hospitality add something special that's hard to come by these days. And the best part? After an unforgettable meal, you can take a walk on the beach just minutes away. Good food, good vibes, and coastal views? It doesn't get better than that. read more

In a bit of serendipity, we ended up at Casa Rossy when the other quasi-famous Mexican place down the street had a long wait. What a stroke of luck, because my family and I loved this place! This place is definitely a dive, but the food and service were exemplary. The carnitas were packed with flavor, with crunchy bits that maintained their texture while mixed in with equally flavorful rice, beans, guac, and salsa. They happily accommodated kids with atypical tastes who each wanted to build their own types of burritos. The patio seating area was simple, but perfect for a hungry family. Chips and salsa came with our meal, and you could definitely taste that they--along with everything else--was homemade. Having had many mission-style burritos from San Francisco, this place packed in the authentic flavors with the best of them. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

Always a super consistent buy. They offer a happy hour that brings the prices down low. The burritos are tasteful and huge and they always pack an assortment of salsas and freshly made chips. I love ordering food from here read more

Normally this is our go to stop for good tamales. Unfortunately, this time we had very mediocre ones. Both the pork and chicken tamales very little meat. They were 90% masa. Our normal 4 star rating is 2 star for this order. Hopefully, this is a one off. read more

My buddy and I stopped here after a long day of cycling through Santa Cruz. Burritos always sound like a great recovery meal after hitting the pedals. There aren't a ton of options for burritos in Aptos so we took a gamble on Casa Rossy. Somewhat recessed and sandwiched between other food establishments, this place is so easy to miss. I've frequented the other nearby Mexican food business to enjoy its outdoor seating area which comes with a view. Unfortunately, this place doesn't offer much in terms of ambience. The outdoor seating is plentiful but your view is limited to Center Avenue and the parking spaces out front. Still, not a deal breaker and maybe the food was going to "wow" us. We were promptly seated when we entered and there was a nice small area for us to keep our bikes in plain sight. Sweet! We were given complimentary chips and salsa while we looked over the menu. I have to say that the menus themselves could use some improvement. With 6 burritos to chose from but zero description of what they contain, it's hard to saw what differentiates their California Burrito from their Super Burrito, Regular Burrito, etc... I opted for the Ca burrito. It came out very quickly and I appreciated it being cut in half for me. A variety of salsa options are available by request. I recommend the "spicy" orange colored one. It's not a sweat dripping off your forehead kinda spice but it has a decent kick. The burrito itself was "meh". A bit too greasy for my liking and the fries stuffed inside tasted more like a baked potato than anything else. The tamale was a bit dry and they delivered the incorrect one. Overall, I'd give the food a 6/10. More authentic than chipotle but definitely a lot heavier and greasier. The ambiance left a bit to be desired. There's a small bathroom that was in need of a refresh and the same could be said for the tables themselves. The table we sat at was wiped down in front of us but it's a bit unsightly to see a bunch of bugs sandwiched between the clear plastic that is covering the table and the tablecloth underneath (see attached photos). I may give this place another try in the future but it'll probably be "to-go" next time. read more

i came here on a sunday around 1130, following the wharf to wharf race. since everyone was either staying in capitola, by the race finish, or heading back to santa cruz, start line/parking area, aptos was pretty empty, which worked great for my friends and i. we were seated right away since there was only 1 other party present, ironically, another wharf to wharf participant! we basically had the interior to ourselves, as well as all the staff, which was great! i ordered the veggie omelet, with onions, bell peppers, and avocado, with side of spanish rice and whole beans. the omelet was pretty ordinary, 2-3 eggs with some veggies inside. the avocado was very fresh, and i enjoyed the whole beans very much, no salt, no oil, just the fiber! they actually forgot my side of rice, and when i asked, they immediately brought out a large plate of rice, bigger than what my friends had...i thanked them immensely! the rice was yummy, but too much for me, so i actually packed it to take home for dinner! there is a single unisex restroom in the front of the restaurant. plenty of parking outside the restaurant, along center avenue. on a busy day, you can always park on the side streets, a short walk away. the beach is also a very short walk from the restaurant. i look forward to returning for lunch and trying one of their taco plates or burritos! read more

We've been back here several times now, and so really wanted to like this convenient neighborhood eatery, but they just can't guarantee a consistent quality of food and service. We have enjoyed the Fish tacos... batter fried Baja style. Fresh and tasty. Beef Quesabirrias are also very tasty and are served with consomme when dining in. Chilaquiles are usually good, but today we ordered it with chicken and the kitchen forgot to add it and the server (who should know us by now) tried to charge us the extra $3 for it telling us "with or without meat is the same price"... no it isn't... just check your menu. We have also experienced other annoyances over the last few visits... Pinto instead of black beans on our order, missing chicken before on a Chilaquiles with meat order, once was an off putting unclean restroom, server who doesn't check on how the food was, etc. I guess we won't be coming here as often as we otherwise might if they were better with their customer service. read more

Good but inconsistent. Burritos have been tasty but also been mediocre. One time they used a green tortilla (spinach I'm assuming) but the other one was regular flour. Spinach tortilla is no bueno. Tamales are decent but they gave me chicken or pork when I ordered a jalapeno and cheese one (vegetarian). I didn't realize until I got home. The website takes you to calling their phone number when you click 'order online'. The best things for me are the quesabirria and their salsas! First time trying Casa Rossy. We called ahead and waited about 5 minutes after arriving for pick up. The nachos were delicious and just the right portion. My partner said the quesabirria was very flavorful. He also enjoyed the chicken California burrito. The cheese and jalapeño tamale was good, very soft and not firm like the typical tamales from other restaurants. The tacos plate with vegetarian tacos was decent. They must've ran out of rice because it came with double beans. The tacos came with black beans, lettuce and raw onions and bell peppers. We can't wait to try other items next time. read more

Awful experience when we went to pick up a pre-order for a holiday meal. I had originally walked in a week prior to my pick up date and ordered 24 Tamales, 6 each of 4 types. I spoke to a very nice guy who took my order and assured me it would be ready on my day. I paid in advance and also tipped (20%) in advance. On the pick up day my spouse went to get the order and the person working told him that the order had not been paid for. In the confusion my husband paid again and brought the order home. Not only had the order now been paid for twice - it was completely WRONG! They gave us 16 of one type of tamale, 6 of another, and 2 of a third. I went back with my spouse (we live relatively close) to Casa Rossy and had to convince the guy that this wasn't what I had ordered and I also showed my receipt which confirmed my previous payment. He kept telling me "No! You called! This is your order!" They took the food back into the kitchen area and one guy loudly shouted "Cabrones!" (Really? I paid good money for this! How am I the "Cabron"?) Our cash refund of the second payment was $10 short. The tamales were just re-packaged and we ended up with the same WRONG order. I really liked this place, but after this experience I will no longer be patronizing this restaurant. read more

We tried to give this local place a chance, but it's failed... Tonight we asked for the flautas plate made with flour tortillas (usually the norm, but not here). Incredible! Ask for more of the orange salsa next time. My only regret. So delicious.

Really enjoyed our lunch here, the food was delicious and portions were generous. The breakfast taco was a real hit with a wonderful cup of coffee with some cinnamon in it, just the right amount. The salsa was the perfect balance, not too much onion and even non salsa lovers will enjoy this version with the crispy chips that keep coming if you ask for another basket. Prices are more than fair and I can not wait to try the other tamale flavors and maybe even take home a dozen. We will be back for sure. Darling decor, felt like I was in Mexico on vacation. Appreciate the outdoor dining on a nice summer day. read more

This place was fantastic when it open... Since then it has gotten progressively worse... They are charging $15 for a skimpy, flavorless burrito... The salsa is bland and uninspired... I try not to leave bad ones but this needs to said. I live in aptos and usually go to another place that i have going to since I was a kid. Didn't want to drive into Santa Cruz so I tried Casa Rossy. I love cocktail de Cameron and it is how I judge the quality or a restaurants food. Yeah this one was horrible. I did not eat most of this $20+ meal. -no avocado -no cilantro no onions no jalapeño no tomato and no flavor. it was shrimp in tomato juice or clamato juice and that's it. How uninspired and mediocre. I wont be back. Its a shame so many restaurants in this area do not care about repeat local customers. Definitely would not recommend this business because in good faith I ordered to-go 2 supreme carne beef burritos which there were only very little beef on the ends of each burritos ...I felt I paid over $30 to include 15% tips for rice & beans and guacamole and tortilla wrap for over $30....
