Chicken tacos
Jesse G.

We went to El chipotle Taqueria on Thursday and the food and service were great. Pedro the owner was very nice he came to check if we liked our food . I had pupusas for the first time and they were delicious, My wife had 3 chicken taco plate and they were loaded with chicken. Had a horchata to drink which came with a refill . Definitely will go back again when in the area. There is no veggie garnish on the pupusa plate cause I don't like that stuff.

Chicken flautas
Whitney S.

I was visiting from LA and took a chance on some Soquel Mexican food, and El Chipotle did not disappoint. This review is specifically for the chicken flautas because OMG, yum!! Most places don't make flautas, so I was excited and surprised to see them on the menu. They were served with rice and beans, and I seriously judge Mexican restaurants on their beans, and these were literally perfect..so flavorful, soft, and gooey. Definitely pop into this place whether you live here or are passing through!

Great Mexican restaurant. Authentic food, reasonably priced and great service. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Chimichanga plate

This is a great local, family operated taqueria. They also have breakfast, highly recommend that for menudo or chilaquiles, omelets, bistec ranchero all are good. They just started a second location in Santa Cruz, congratulations! This time we got camarones a la diabla and chimichanga plate. Great thing about this chimichanga was it was not oily to taste even after being deep fried, crispy and well flavored. Rice, guacamole accompaniments are given in good portions as always. Highly recommend it for people that want to try different things in mexican food - try mojarra, trucha camarone a la diabla, fajitas de pescado, mole de oxaca, Siete mares and caldo...

100 Percent Veggie Plate with shrimp added

My boyfriend wanted Mexican food and I wanted something on the healthier side, so we checked out el chipotle taqueria because they have a vegetable focused healthy plates section on their menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small taqueria with a few booths and tables, more of a takeout spot but we're traveling and wanted to dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even at 5pm, they were quite busy with takeout orders and 5 out of the 6 tables were full.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was great. It was an all hands on deck kind of thing. The guy working the register and answering the phone also helped out with serving. They gave us free chips and pico de gallo. Good chips and pico had good flavor, and I'm not really a pico person. I ordered the 100% veggie plate from the healthy plates section of the menu, and I added shrimp. My partner got the chile verde plate. The veggie plate was delicious. Only downside was the shrimp was really overcooked. It would've been perfectly substantial without the shrimp, I should've just gotten it as is. Huge serving of veggies which was just what I needed after eating out every meal the past few days. The plate felt slightly lacking in flavor, so I asked for some green sauce and they gave me a big portion of the chile verde sauce which complemented the dish really well. I tried my bf's chile verde and it tasted exactly like others that I've had before. Their beans and rice were really good too. We had lots of leftovers which reheated pretty well. I would definitely go back if we're ever looking for a taqueria in Santa Cruz again.

Housemade Chips and Pico de Gallo

This was our first visit, and we found the food to be excellent. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared, and the staff was genuinely friendly and attentive. The house-made chips were delicious, and the pico de gallo was fantastic, as shown in the picture LoL! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, it's a great place to eat in the quiet town of Soquel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We'll definitely be back.

AI (so it sounds EpiC!!!!!!!!) says: "San Marco Taqueria in Capitola is a pretty popular spot, known for its solid Mexican food, and their breakfast burrito is definitely a crowd favorite! If I remember right, their breakfast burritos are loaded with a good mix of eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns, and cheese, all wrapped in a soft flour tortilla. They've got that perfect balance of hearty and comforting--plus, their salsa is pretty legit! Have you been there before or just heard good things about their breakfast burrito?" The breakfast burrito was hot. (temperature-wise) It was filled with plenty of fillings, but potatoes and eggs only go so far. The winning solution was the salsa in the ketchup squeeze bottle looking things at the window. Unfortunately, I ran low on that stuff not even half way consuming the burrito. Fortunately, the burrito was a decent size. Win some, lose some. Got a chorizo breakfast burrito and wasn't overwhelmed by the meat content. Sort of wanted that to happen. Nice outdoor seating with a window to the outside, probably for serving customers who didn't want a roof. Bowls of water (a couple, at least) for the dog were found outside. Don't forget the salsa. (That's your flavor...everything else...meh...)

On the way back home we stopped by this little Taqueria restaurant. There's no parking spaces here, we parked over the bank since it's on Sunday, empty. The restaurant is clean, the salsa bar is right there with all the great stuff, the amazing thing is the chips all you can eat are there too. The chips and salsa here are the best anywhere, even better than Mexico or Cancun. So crispy, light, and the pico de gallo is excellent and fresh. I had the fish tacos, plentiful but a little surprised since the fish is not fried as all the places I've been, it's sauteed or steemed, no vegetables like shredded cabbage or anything, just lots of fish chunks and soft taco shell. Anyhow, it's fresh and delicious. Our other members ordered beef, pork tacos and they're so mouth watering too. There are so many young people like students coming to this place, so crowded and lucky we got the table to finish our foods quickly so others can sit. I tried the rice drink and it's like rice water and sugar, it's good but extremely sweet. This is the place I will visit after a long hiking day, it's wonderful and I love the chips and salsa here.

I was trying to help him out, as I'm in the hospitality business for high level profiles. He responded and told me he's an old guy, but very rude when I told him the two items and he just cut me off while I was talking . It was a chicken burrito with refried beans, no rice & carne asada fries. He also threw my receipt at me. I get it if you under pressure, but never take it out on a paying customer because you can't work well under pressure. He left a bad taste in my mouth with his bad attitude. I will not be coming back. Be kind to your customers especially i was trying to help you. Lol. The meat was overly cooked. The burrito still had rice in it. Fries were very oily. I still tipped him, even though he didn't deserve any of it. Bad service. Bad attitude.

Whatever it was we all really enjoyed it. The guac was creamy and limey. Most of us got combination plates. I got the 2 items: a cheese enchilada with the carne asada taco (it's a bit of an up charge & it was definitely worth it!) the asada was so delicious! Chewy and flavorful. The enchilada sauce was perfect too. My husband's combo plate, was similar but he got 3 items, including a pork tamale. He said it was great. Other things of note: the beans were good & not runny, according to others as I don't eat beans. Rice - so good, my kid ate an entire side of it. Loved the rice. They gave a generous amount of chicken+shrimp on the tacos so we put the extra meat on the nachos! We should have just had the kid share 1 item. The cost of the food all felt a little pricier than I hope, but the food wasn't bad. I got the bajo tacos and it was a good size. It had deep fried fish in them. I felt the dipping sauce that came with it was pretty good too. My husband got the quesabirria tacos which I thought was pretty good.
