Sausage, avocado, spinach scramble with home fries
    Andrea D.

The food at silver spur is always fantastic. I had ordered the turkey avocado scramble and subbed the turkey for sausage. So good! Their home fries are my favorite! Big cuts of potato and onion and perfectly seasoned. I also ordered their homemade muffin and it was delicious. It was almost the consistency of a crescent roll but more firm. Not overly sweet either. I didn't care much for the chai latte. That may just be a personal preference though. The service is always great. The staff is super attentive and very kind to all of their customers. It can be a little bit of a struggle to get a table in the morning if it's busy but service is quick so it usually doesn't take very long to get a table when I've gone :) It's clean and kept well inside. I have never had an issue with cleanliness. It has a very homestyle vibe. I did hear that they may be moving to a new location in the future so this review is based on the Soquel location. Overall this spot is definitley worth stopping in at and trying the great food!

Really good bfast spot. Good pancakes and omelletes. Staff us really nice and they had a great rasberry jam to go with your toast. Gets busy on weekends. Lots of seating available

Absolutely disgusting food then when I asked to take gravy plate off bill got super defensive waiter said I need to know why if I am taking it off the bill;this was when he came back to give final bill. Waiter said they have the best gravy;must not go to fine restaurants and the Canadian ham you should have asked for a half slice... WOW if you ask for feedback just listen;no need to make snide comments from establishment.

I would lean 4.25 if I could. Great local spot I found. You can tell cause many of the customers were full on conversation mode, staff saying hi as they walk in first names, felt really good to see community like that. Greeted me right away, very kind and professional. Looks old school inside lol, but good vibes. Food was really good, their veggie scramble, let's just say it has veggie in the name lol. Great assortment and plenty of them. Hashbrowns were crispy maybe a tad over board but I do appreciate no salt so I could add my own amount. Salsa's were both fantastic. The mild great flavors, well done. The spicy one does has a kick but I'm also used to spicy food, plus great flavor. Overall great spot I will be back.

A cute brunch/diner spot in Santa Cruz! The interior is very rustic but kept super clean. All of the staff were so nice. They were able to accommodate for our big group and bring out our orders fast. The prices are similar to many other diners but if you pay with cash, you don't have to pay a surcharge. The portions are huge as well.

My grandparents have been coming here since the 1970s, bringing me since I was a little kid. I don't think I've had a meal that's disappointed once. The Watsonville location is great, but the charm of the original can't be beat. From the pancakes to the omelets to the sandwiches and Mexican food-- it's fantastic. Some of my favorites: the chorizo scramble, their biscuits with extra butter and jam, and their burger. All of the waitresses and bussers are so kind and happy to please as well. I can't wait to go back!

Theme is off, I like the old vibe but the paintings doesn't belong on the walls. Service was good, food was good.

Friendly & inviting staff. It's a small restaurant, but still cozy. All the food was really good, especially the Crab Benedict (daily special). Not pictured: English Muffin (large and dense) Chicken Tortilla soup (chicken chunks and fresh veggies) Sunday around 10:30 am. The place was full, with a 15-20 minute wait...well worth it.

A hidden gem in Capitola. Great service, fast and friendly people. My family and I love to visit when we are in town to visit our slug. The pancakes and Paul's potatoes are our favorite. Definitely recommend. Come early, always packed. Thank you! UCSC family

Expect to leave stuffed. I came here with 3 friends after running the Monterey Half Marathon. We shared an order of 4 pancakes (one per person) and each got our own dish. Pancake- large and fluffy. We got the special orange poppyseed pancakes and they were excellent. These are a must get. Western Omelette- I swapped the ham for sausage and to be honest the sausage was just okay. Maybe I should've switched to bacon? While the omelette was stuffed with onions, peppers, and sausage, the egg could've been seasoned more and the ingredients could've been incorporated better. Felt more like the omelette was created separately and the filling was sautéed and added afterwards. Hasbrowns- I got this as my side for my omelette. Was nice and crunchy, just wish they added more seasoning- adding some salt and peppers while cooking would go a long way. But I was able to season at the table and enjoyed Overall, a decent and filling breakfast. One friend got the country fried steak and another got the breakfast burrito. Both were incredibly full and very happy with their decisions. Ambiance was cute- had a rustic vibe that I liked. Service was a little slow (I had to ask a few times to get more water) but the waiters/waitresses were friendly. Note there is a ~4% fee if you use credit card so bring cash.

We got there about 10 am and had a bit of a wait with people continuously arriving so it's clearly popular. You write your name down and request inside or out or first available. It was a bit chilly so we opted for inside. We were seated after about 20 minutes. It's pretty small inside so the addition of the picnic tables outside is a plus. We all ordered different items, sausage and eggs, bacon and eggs and blueberry pancakes. The egg breakfasts came with a side of either toast, a pumpkin muffin or a cinnamon roll. We ordered a muffin and a roll. The food arrived fairly quickly which was good because after a 2 hour drive we were ready to grub. The egg breakfasts were pretty average in taste and portion. The blueberry pancakes however were good a good size and came with 3. I did think the pumpkin muffin was fire and my bf said the cinnamon roll was excellent so maybe it's their baked goods that are part of what makes this place so popular? I didn't think the amount of food we got was that much of a value as it was a $60 breakfast. Other downsides for me was the parking situation which is common in SC. We found a spot about 2 blocks away. Also, the bathroom is outside and in dire need of a makeover. Lastly, they don't take cards. It's cash or check only. WTH? I haven't seen a restaurant take checks since I was a kid so that's been a minute, lol. Overall I can't really see myself returning other than to get the pumpkin muffin or cinnamon roll. Maybe I just need to try something different.

Not to date myself, but that's in the range of ~30 years ago. We had a usual booth, usual orders, and we saw the same waitstaff and cooks every week. This was a tradition I looked forward to all week long, since it was one of the only times I got to eat breakfast out at a restaurant regularly. While I live up in The Peninsula now, my parents are still down in Aptos. It was long overdue, but I had been telling my wife for years when we'd drive by the story of how I used to go there, and she'd always suggest that we go back one day. Well friends, that day finally came! On a recent trip to visit my folks and a childhood friend, we decided to take a family outing to Sunrise Cafe on Sunday morning for a good ol' nostalgic breakfast. PARKING: There is both street parking, and a dedicated lot in the back. Since the main entrance is located right on Soquel, I definitely recommend using the back for a more private and safe parking option. They also have an entrance in the back so you don't have to walk all the way around! SEATING: You check in towards the front end of the counter, where the register is. Since we came on a Sunday, it was full when we got there. There's a counter with eight (8) seats, as well as a half dozen or so booths on the left as you come in the front, and some other seating on the right. It did appear as if they shortened the tables, as they didn't reach out to the end of the booth seats. We ended up having to wait around 10 minutes, which wasn't too bad. DRINKS: They have a lot of the standards you'd expect to find at a cafe. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice (apple, orange, grapefruit, cranberry), soda (Coke products), iced tea, and mimosas ($6.50!). A few of us ordered coffee--good, not epic. The OJ is from concentrate, otherwise I would have ordered a glass. FOOD: A nice 3-page menu of breakfast and lunch options. Many of the standards, with combos of eggs and breakfast meats (bacon, sausage, ham, Linguisa, chicken apple sausage). There's a list of scrambles, omelets, eggs Benedict, and "Solar Delights" which has corned beef & hash, country fried steak, and a tofu veggie dish. For lunch they have a variety of sandwiches (hot & cold), burgers, and salads. We went for breakfast, and between the four of us we ordered: Sunrise Special (2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, home fries & toast or biscuit), French toast, corned beef & hash, and the Western Scramble (Corralitos jalapeño sausage, onion, topped with 2 scrambled eggs, chili beans & cheddar cheese). The food was all solid. The corned beef was chunky and seemed fresher than "from the can". The French toast looked tasty, and my dad said he liked it. My mom enjoyed her Sunrise Special, as a standard cafe breakfast. I ordered the Western Scramble and it was pretty wild; a huge mound of hearty deliciousness. It was enough food that I was able to take some of it, plus half a biscuit home and enjoy it for another breakfast a few days later. The potatoes were one of my favorite things growing up, so I do wish I had ordered a side, or something that allowed me to enjoy them on their own. OVERALL: This was a great nostalgia meal, and I'm super glad I came back. We found out that they changed ownership around four (4) years ago, so while it's not quite the exact same place, it's pretty darn close. I appreciate the friendly and hardworking staff, and will definitely come back on a future visit home! IG: @bbnem.eats

I was looking for something heavier than a pastry and found out they had breakfast sandwiches and their own bagels! Score!! To my surprise, they also had specialty drinks so I had to get the Blondie latte with a plant-based milk. I asked the lady if it was sweet and she said it came with a tablespoon of brown sugar. But they could switch it and make it a teaspoon instead. Perfect! As I got my latte it was amazing!! The espresso used in the latte was actually a mild roast coffee so I really liked the flavor of it roast and it was Organic!! Win-win!! Since I'm trying to avoid dairy at the moment, I asked if I could get the lox bagel sandwich without cream cheese and replace it with avocado. The lady at the register asked another barista behind her and she said it was fine! Perfect!! You also get to pick out what type of bagel you want, so I wanted to try something different and got the sun-dried tomato and basil or something like that! The sweet flavors of the herbs in the bagel and then the juiciness of the tomato baked into the bread once simply wonderfully with my breakfast sandwich!! There's a cute little waiting area inside with at least 10 tables or seats along the breakfast bar counter and a couple of tables. There's also a very large outdoor seating area, but I was cold so I wanted to sit inside to warm up my body since I was going to go to yoga on the beach. I had only planned on eating half the bagel sandwich but honestly, it was so good when it came out. I sat there for a good 20 minutes until I ate the whole thing!! Lol so funny!! I was so stuffed I had to walk an extra mile before I could start my yoga on the beach! As I sat enjoying my breakfast sandwich, I got to overhear the two barista's talk about music!! One of the baristas allowed her device to search new genres of music while the other barista specifically looked up different genres of music she liked and then would tell her device to find music of that era. So interesting to hear their discussion!! I honestly loved everything about this quaint little coffee shop, and I will definitely be back again and again!!
