Pancake Sandwich.

Jefferys is a throwback to the old days of diners. The interior looks straight out of the 1980's. A very wide selection on the menu, and you could have anything you want. I am partial to the roast turkey dinner, lasagna special on Mondays, and the club sandwich. Service is fast and friendly, and the food is always hot.

We were super hungry and arguing about places on yelp while driving. I gave up and pulled into this spot as soon as I saw it. This is an old school diner with legit diner food. Greasy and delicious. We started with onion rings drenched in delightful fried wonderment. My wife ordered a burger club and I the bbq ranch burger. Both were amazing, delicious, and loaded with calories. I think this place called to us because we've been watching cobra Kai on Netflix and the 1980's vibes are strong here. Think of a sizzler meets downtown diner. Tones of retired people and walkers. I love it.

The food here is always fun, fresh, and consistently good. We shared the carnitas omelette with sourdough toast, and it was excellent--lots of flavor and a perfect start to the morning. We also had a couple of Irish coffees, and the homemade whipped cream definitely put them over the top. Another huge plus is the dog-friendly patio. Our little guy Milo was very happy to join us for breakfast--and maybe even happier when some bacon came his way. Great food, friendly vibe, efficient service, and a patio where we can bring the pup. We'll definitely keep coming back!

Yelp Elite Review: Where the Coffee Is Bold & the Stories Are Even Better…read more Some restaurants serve breakfast. This place serves breakfast with a side of Santa Cruz history. This spot has been around for years, and when my boys were younger, we would come here after a day at the beach. It has gone through a few owners over the years, but the improvements they've made are awesome. The place still has that classic beach-town chill--lots of laughter, good food, and people enjoying life. Parking? Let's just say Santa Cruz and parking have never exactly been best friends. But once you get inside, you have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating, and it's worth the effort. One of my favorite things about this place is the history. For years, a group of local fishermen have been coming here. Two of them are still regulars, sitting around telling fish stories. And if you know fishermen, you know those stories have probably gotten a little bigger every year. My wife and I split the all-meat omelette, and it was delicious. They also do a fantastic job with the hash browns--crispy, hearty, and exactly what you want with breakfast. The coffee deserves its own paragraph. Bold, flavorful, and strong enough to make you believe you can conquer the day. Our server was wonderful. She has worked here since graduating from high school, and you could tell she genuinely cared about taking care of people. Friendly, positive, helpful, and the kind of service that makes you want to come back. There's a wonderful selection of food, but honestly, part of the experience is simply being there. You can almost feel the decades of stories in the walls--families, fishermen, beach days, laughter, and countless cups of coffee. This isn't just a place to grab breakfast. It's a place where Santa Cruz history is still being served--one omelette, one cup of coffee, and one slightly exaggerated fish story at a time. Our niece had also heard really good things about it from other students, so we figured it was worth checking out and I'm so glad we did! My partner and I both got the B.A.E. sandwich, while our niece got the Spam sandwich. For drinks, I ordered Alex's iced coffee, my partner got the jasmine lemonade, and our niece got an iced matcha latte. We also shared an order of the Dirty Tots. Everything we ordered was so good, but what really stood out to me about the B.A.E. sandwich was how fluffy the eggs were. I feel like that alone really elevated it and made it different from a typical breakfast sandwich. I also loved the bread it was soft, fluffy, flavorful, and worked perfectly with everything inside. Another thing that really made the sandwich for me was the sauce. I'm not exactly sure what was in it, but it mixed so perfectly with the eggs, bacon, avocado, and bread. Without it, I feel like the sandwich could have been a little more basic, but that sauce added so much flavor and tied everything together. It honestly made the whole sandwich feel complete. The B.A.E. was easily a 10/10 for me. As a coffee lover, I was also really happy with Alex's iced coffee. It had the perfect balance not too sweet, but not too bitter either. The Dirty Tots were another favorite. The tater tots were really crispy, and we loved the curry flavor incorporated throughout. The fried egg on top was also such a cute addition. It was a little messy, but nothing we couldn't handle and definitely worth it! The spot itself was very lively and popular, especially with students, so it was pretty busy when we went. That being said, for the quality of the food, we really didn't mind waiting. We all left really happy with what we ordered, and this is definitely going to be one of those places we come back to whenever we're visiting our niece. Such a great breakfast spot and an easy recommendation!

What happened to my favorite matcha place???…read more It's as if Mad Yolks wanted to figure out how to solve their long customer line problem, so they stopped providing hot matcha (the real Japanese matcha where they whisk the powder the traditional way)! Then the cashier informed me that the iced matcha comes out of a machine. Say what? Hmph. After the long order line, I did get our drinks and food in a shorter amount of time! My substitute drink was the strawberry matcha. I paid extra for oat milk. And it was... just okay. Sigh. I don't know if the other Mad Yolks in Pleasure Point also doesn't serve hot matcha anymore, but not having this traditionally-made Japanese matcha will impact the frequency of my visits unfortunately. It was the main draw to Mad Yolks for me. Without it, Mad Yolks feels more like a fast food place. Update: They no longer have an ordering kiosk. You order at the counter again. It does seem to move faster this way! Tip to management: If you're not serving a main item or ingredient on your menu (ie, hot matcha, avocado, bread!), please put a sign on the door or window so customers can see it before standing in line. It is not ideal to find out about a menu change only when you've reached the ordering counter.

I asked to get a small portion of fries and salad like I usually do (they would split the portion so it's smaller for each) and the chef/manager denied it. I spoke to him mentioning how this has not been an issue over the past year I have been coming here. The guy asked me to sit down at a table with him to explain portion sizes and the guy had slurred speech and an extremely strong smear of liquor radiating from him. I asked if he is on the clock and he said I will be in a few minutes. Doesn't seem like a good idea to be wasted at work. This guy has created some very good tasting foods (hence why I like to return) and the prices are reasonable. The owner is a super sweet gal and you can tell she's pouring her heart and soul into this spot. It has a perfect view of the harbor while you enjoy some good eats. Even though this guy was wasted today, it won't detour me from returning for the 5 star food flavors! He later came to my table as I am indulging in a burger that explodes with flavor and apologized for being brash. I shook his hand and told him there are no hard feelings. I complimented him on his menu, flavors of the foods, and told him we will still be coming in. Do come check this place out as you'll will leave impressed by the food if you know what good food tastes like.

Greeted gently, quickly & warmly by the hostess, bartender & server. Promptly given menus & seated ideally. On the back of the menu there is a description of the history of Jack O'Neill, the man who invented the wetsuit. The countertops in the lounge face the ocean with varied heights of seating. Initially ordered an appetizer & salad in the lounge. Progressed to dinner in the dining room. Beverages varied greatly. First in the lounge, the glass of water tasted like tap water, ugh. Next a Pellegrino mineral water which came swiftly was much better. In the dining room, waiter Tyler went above & beyond to find the requested fresh mint which when lowered into my hot water, produced a refreshing aroma. The smoked beet salad was imaginative. Wonder what other veggies would taste good smoked? Maybe more root veggies? What a novelty for a vegetarian.vegan, never had that before. Onto the vegan entree which was most satisfying. At first glance the fish looked like it was created from seaweed. Upon closer examination, using the fork to crack the surface the most glorious & surprising appearance of kale emerged! In utter disbelief, the slight salty delicate kale crunch was sensational. Reminiscent of when my mom would fry sheets of seaweed for my brothers & I as kids. She would oil the pan, drop in a sheet of seaweed, which would immediately shrivel up, crackling to a similar crispy crunch. Sprinkled with a bit of salt then turned over & repeated. It came out hot and toasty. Filled with warm sticky rice (my mom is Korean), it hit the spot! Texture was tops back then & now recreated into a fish, what a dream! The spicy savory carrot fondant sauce complimented the perfectly roasted chewy lion's mane mushrooms & other assorted farmers' market vegetables. This a dish I would order on repeat for eternity. Was it worth the 6 hour drive for my 65th birthday? Yes! What made it even better was walking back to my onsite Dream Inn hotel room, bestowed by my dear boyfriend. Opened the sliding glass door & stepped out onto the balcony, inhaled the salty air & soaked in the same, if not better view. With an amplified volume of endless waves this special birthday experience was magnificent & memorable.
