Different picture of the counter that showed some of the bread selections and some of the pictures of the sandwiches

We came here on August 22nd a little close to their opening start time. I had heard about this place from a couple of friends and they said that we needed to try it if we ever made it to the Santa Cruz area. During our trip we ended up getting the cove and boardwalk sandwich. For about and hour because you wanted to do some other things around the Town period and doing so by the time we got to the beach and wanted to food the Brad was a little bits off and the flavors felt a little muted. Again not because the quality was bad, it was more because the heat from the sandwiches just took away from the overall quality as it was sitting waiting to be eaten. The thing that I liked a lot about the food was that it was definitely a full sandwich. We were able to split those two between myself and my husband and we definitely were very full. Almost so full that we were not able to eat the banana pudding that we had bought. But we mustered the courage and ended up having a little bit of room to finish it off. Again same suggestion eat it sooner rather than later still good but because it got warm it didn't have that overall effect of banana pudding that I wanted. Regarding the space itself, it is definitely very popular and it's nice because there is a good amount of seating inside especially when it's a little bit warmer and if you do want to enjoy the sun you can sit outside on the little bar style setting that is in front of the restaurant. I would definitely come back to this place and make sure that the next time I ordered my food I eat it there at the restaurant versus waiting a bit longer to try to find that perfect picture by the beach.

Heard they smoke their own brisket here, and it was really good. The brisket was super tender, fatty, and had a great smoky flavor. The sauces and pickles provided a really nice contrast, and the bread was great as well. You can definitely smell the smoke throughout the restaurant. Overall, a super solid sandwich. There's a decent amount of seating both indoors and outdoors, and the line and service moved relatively quickly. They also have some nice snacks and other things to enjoy alongside the sandwich. Seems like a local favorite, and I can definitely see why. Will be back to try some of their other sandwiches.

Hype was real about this place. The neptune was sooo good. A perfect balance of veggies and turkey. The garlic aioli was 10/10. The veggies were also super fresh and crunchy. The giant dipper was not bad either!

Pretty good BLT but super wet, they use arugula instead of lettuce. No avo to add bummer. The sandwich had good flavor & was unique but you gotta be in the mood. No Tuna or egg salad, no everyday deli items besides mac salad. This is not your classic deli or BLT. Its elevated its different, it was tasty. I was surprised to see they only had the sandwiches on the list you could order from. Its not your typical deli or sandwich so be prepared!

Unique selection of sandwiches, but not my favorite compared to Zanotto's (SJ) or Little Lucca (SSF). Also a little pricier and smaller. We wanted something to eat at the beach so we picked up some smoked brisket sandwiches! -The castle beach: my fav of the 2 we got! Loved the pickled onion and flavor profile. -Trailblazer: Soggy..the roasted red pepper was also bland. The next day, I air fried it and it was better! We ordered online for pick up and the sandwiches were not as hot as we'd like so it was probably sitting for a bit (we only got there 2 minutes after the pick up time). I think I'd also get both sandwiches extra toasted next time.

I came here on a Saturday afternoon after hearing great things about their sandwiches! There is indoor and outdoor seating, and the space honors a beachy cafe vibe. When I came, the line was put the door, but it went by relatively fine. I waited about 15 minutes until I ordered. I was given a pager and waited about 30 more minutes until I got my sandwich! I got the Smoke Show with tomato. It was super delicious! Meat was tender, yet not too overpowering. I love the stracciatella and the toasted bread added such a nice bite. It was the perfect size, lighter, very tasty lunch! I would come back to try their other items!

Yelp Review Honestly, this experience left a really bad taste in my mouth, and not because of the food. We went to this "viral" sandwich shop expecting a great experience, but the customer service was extremely disappointing. My husband was standing right next to me, yet the employees seemed to completely disregard him and acted as though we weren't together, which was strange and uncomfortable. Then, after I paid well over $40, they somehow forgot my husband's sandwich. The restaurant wasn't even particularly busy, so it was difficult to understand how such a basic part of our order could be overlooked. What made the situation even more uncomfortable was that my husband was the only African American man in the building. I genuinely did not want to believe that race had anything to do with how he was treated, but the combination of everything that happened left us with an awful feeling. Maybe it was an innocent mistake, but when you're the customer experiencing it, you can't help but question why you were treated differently. I'm all for supporting viral/local businesses, but being popular doesn't excuse poor customer service. We paid good money for our food and expected to be treated with basic respect. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing enough that I don't see us returning. It is a cute little sandwich shop right off the beach.

Was visiting my boo in Santa Cruz and he recommended this spot, so of course we had to try it! We went on a Sunday afternoon and the line honestly wasn't too bad. We waited around 20-30 minutes to order, plus another 15-20 minutes for our food. I loooooved The Grotto!! I was craving fish and this seriously hit the spot. I can definitely see why this place is so popular--the sandwich was fresh, flavorful, and so satisfying. The prices are a little on the higher side, but considering the quality of the sandwiches, I think it makes sense. Definitely coming back next time I'm in Santa Cruz! I already want to try some of their other sandwiches

Seabright Deli is a pretty good spot to stop by for lunch. They have a variety of sandwiches to choose from and I enjoyed mine! I ordered The Grotto which includes Blackend Snapper with tarragon-basil aioli. The sandwich was delicious and very filling, the flavors were certainly delightful. We sat at the outdoor patio in the back and enjoyed our time eating here!

Get the banana pudding and a can of Somerbella

Holy cow, Batman!! How did we get so lucky that one of the best sandwich shops in the world is in Santa Cruz county? We got the Grotto (fresh, blackened snapper, chimichurri tomatoes, jalapeno-lime slaw, tarragon-basil aioli, arugula, francese roll) and the Sailor (New York style pastrami, Vermont white cheddar cheese, pickled onions, arugula, coriander-mustard aioli, francese roll). How are we supposed to try different sandwiches when these are so good you'd want to order them again and again? They had plenty of craft beers and canned wine. I tried a mimosa one and decided that Somerbella was the best canned wine I've ever had. I wanted to try every flavor so I bought all 6 ($7 a pop.) The owner saw me carrying all the cans in my arms and asked if she could send a pic to the supplier. I said sure! :) They also made the most perfect banana cream pudding for dessert. And sold Jeni's ice cream. I seriously can't wait to go back.

Though the line was long, it moved at a decent pace. Parking can be very limited and tight, but we managed to get a spot in the back parking lot. Menu options: 1) They have physical menus that give descriptions of what is inside the sandwiches 2) They have visuals above the service counter Decor - they have nicer, artistic and more appetizing looking photos on the wall My husband and I managed to get a table on their back patio - they have a decent amount of seating space. Sandwiches were pretty good! My husband and swapped half of each other's sandwiches so we could try 2 different ones. I really enjoyed the Neptune (turkey) - lots of flavor. The Grotto was nice (red snapper fish), but I wish it was seasoned more. Overall, we would definitely come back to Seabright Deli! Each sandwich is roughly $20, but they're the size of 2 meals.

We got there 5 min before opening and sure enough there was a line outside and I get it fr. Service was quick and our food was sooo yummy! The Mermaid - truly my fave, still thinkin about her mmm. The Surfer - I mean wow, also another banger. The Trailblazer - this was also good but kinda wish we tried the Castle Beach instead for the sauciness. Banana pudding - absolute must cop. We sat in the back patio which had plenty of seating and was pretty chill.

Stopped by this quaint little deli for a sandwich, and it was delicious! We got the Surfer. I don't remember exactly what the ingredients were, but the chicken and sauce melted together seamlessly. It really hit the spot! Would definitely come back again for a seaside lunch :) The restroom was clean and well kept too, and there was plenty of street parking in the surrounding residential area. Service is standard

Saturday morning, my son and I were up early having coffee and looking for a pickleball court so we could get a little workout in before getting ready for the wedding. While we were sitting there, his sweet aunt came in a bit frantic--the person responsible for the cupcakes was no longer able to make them, and they suddenly had nothing for the wedding! Without hesitation, my son and I rented a car and started calling local bakeries in Santa Cruz. Thankfully, he called The Buttery, and Alex answered. Alex immediately reassured us, "Don't worry, we can take care of it!" And he absolutely did. We were beyond excited when we saw the cupcakes, but there are honestly no words to describe how incredible they were. The assortment of flavors was amazing, and the cupcakes were absolutely beautiful. We were able to get 11 different flavors, and every single one was spectacular! The cupcakes were a HUGE hit at the wedding. Everyone was talking about them, and they made an already special day even sweeter. And The Buttery doesn't just do cupcakes--they have so much more to offer. If you're looking for a bakery in the Santa Cruz area, we highly recommend checking them out. A BIG shout-out to Alex for jumping in, saving the day, and helping make the wedding such a success. We are so grateful!

The croissant was sooo buttery, the pesto was very garlicky, and the tomato tasted fresh and vibrant. The employees were very kind. Our niece had also heard really good things about it from other students, so we figured it was worth checking out and I'm so glad we did! My partner and I both got the B.A.E. sandwich, while our niece got the Spam sandwich. For drinks, I ordered Alex's iced coffee, my partner got the jasmine lemonade, and our niece got an iced matcha latte. We also shared an order of the Dirty Tots. Everything we ordered was so good, but what really stood out to me about the B.A.E. sandwich was how fluffy the eggs were. I feel like that alone really elevated it and made it different from a typical breakfast sandwich. I also loved the bread it was soft, fluffy, flavorful, and worked perfectly with everything inside. Another thing that really made the sandwich for me was the sauce. I'm not exactly sure what was in it, but it mixed so perfectly with the eggs, bacon, avocado, and bread. Without it, I feel like the sandwich could have been a little more basic, but that sauce added so much flavor and tied everything together. It honestly made the whole sandwich feel complete. The B.A.E. was easily a 10/10 for me. As a coffee lover, I was also really happy with Alex's iced coffee. It had the perfect balance not too sweet, but not too bitter either. The Dirty Tots were another favorite. The tater tots were really crispy, and we loved the curry flavor incorporated throughout. The fried egg on top was also such a cute addition. It was a little messy, but nothing we couldn't handle and definitely worth it! The spot itself was very lively and popular, especially with students, so it was pretty busy when we went. That being said, for the quality of the food, we really didn't mind waiting. We all left really happy with what we ordered, and this is definitely going to be one of those places we come back to whenever we're visiting our niece. Such a great breakfast spot and an easy recommendation!

What happened to my favorite matcha place???…read more It's as if Mad Yolks wanted to figure out how to solve their long customer line problem, so they stopped providing hot matcha (the real Japanese matcha where they whisk the powder the traditional way)! Then the cashier informed me that the iced matcha comes out of a machine. Say what? Hmph. After the long order line, I did get our drinks and food in a shorter amount of time! My substitute drink was the strawberry matcha. I paid extra for oat milk. And it was... just okay. Sigh. I don't know if the other Mad Yolks in Pleasure Point also doesn't serve hot matcha anymore, but not having this traditionally-made Japanese matcha will impact the frequency of my visits unfortunately. It was the main draw to Mad Yolks for me. Without it, Mad Yolks feels more like a fast food place. Update: They no longer have an ordering kiosk. You order at the counter again. It does seem to move faster this way! Tip to management: If you're not serving a main item or ingredient on your menu (ie, hot matcha, avocado, bread!), please put a sign on the door or window so customers can see it before standing in line. It is not ideal to find out about a menu change only when you've reached the ordering counter.
