Indoor and outdoor seating available. * BTO sandwich - Choice of protein, cheese, bread, and standard condiments and fixings. We ordered grilled chicken, Swiss cheese on toasted sourdough with a garlic Mayo and tomato and lettuce. (They threw in slices red onions even though we said no onions.) Chicken chunks were nicely grilled and tasty. Would have liked a more noticeable toast on the sourdough. * Reuben - Generous portion of pastrami, melty Swiss, sauerkraut on a rye bun. Good flavor and filling was nice and hot, but again would have liked a more noticeable toast on the rye bread and it would have made it nearly perfect. Service was friendly, but our order took a while as they had a late lunch crowd and apparently they only have one grill so hot sando orders can back up and make things slow. Found this place on yelp. It was close to our next destination so we popped in for lunch. Friendly service. The photos of the celebrities in the wall are fun to look at. Philly cheesesteak: 5/5 excellent flavor steak and it wasn't all greasy! Highly recommend this one. The Higgins: 4/5 the garlic mayo added lots of flavor to the roast beef. Tuna: 3/5 a bit dry. Stopped by Chunk's on my way home from work today after seeing their TikTok content come across my fyp. Cute well kept place right in the Brown Ranch Marketplace. Service was quick and very friendly. Ordered a custom sandwich. Roast beef, turkey, provolone, avocado, and all the fixings on sourdough. This sandwich came loaded with meat! And the avocado was perfectly green. The sourdough was a little tough to get through, but has really great flavor. I will definitely be making this one of my favorite spots to get lunch. This place has amazing sandwiches! And being from NY, I know quality sandwiches! My Toasted Pastrami and Swiss had a large amount of pastrami and the perfect amount of cheese. The roll was toasted (obviously) and still soft and probably one of the better sandwich rolls I've had. This is a far way from your typical Subway. We stopped at this place on the way to Monterey outside of Santa Cruz. Place was super busy for for a Monday. We ordered a pastrami Ruben and a cheese steak along with some garlic fries. All were very solid choices. The Ruben was served on a rye roll which was very unique. The restaurants namesake is for a dog named Chunk. First off, that sandwich was the best thing I've had in a really long time. That might be recency bias but it is what it is. I had the Drayton which was a hot sandwich that had Chicken Ham & Pineapple. Not only was the chicken so tasty and the very flavorful... what stood out to me the most was how soft the bread was. I arrived too early to check into my hotel so I went on a hunt for food. I found Chunks and I was very happy I did. I loved the wall of famous people who "had not" eaten at chunks. The food was fantastic, I had the meatball sandwich. The bread was soft and fresh the meatballs were perfectly seasoned and there was a perfectly balanced ratio of sauce to cheese . I'm always on the lookout for a sandwich with a good bread-to-filling ratio. The Pezzi is a great and filling sandwich. But the pastrami was stellar: tender and juicy. I thought it was really good. Also got the burger and added bacon. It came with fries that were perfectly crisp on the outside. Looked like family owned place. Very welcoming environment. All the dishes we ordered were freshly made. Philly cheesesteak had good amount of meat and fresh green peppers. Bread of all sandwiches was freshly made and crunchy on the top and soft inside. Meatball sandwich had hot meatballs and we were informed that they are trying a new marinara recipe. Personally would like more garlic and herbs but that's a personal choice. Our little one loved the burger- well seasoned, fresh tomatoes, onion, pickles and lettuce. Was really looking forward to trying this place. It was clean and staff were decent. Was disappointed that for some unknown reason that despite ordering two sandwiches before several groups of customers that everybody who came in well after us were served and our very simple to go order took 30 minutes. Came here the other day after a long work day and hadn't eaten since breakfast. Was sooo hungry and I was near Chunk's. I had a pastrami sandwich there once before and it was pretty good, so figured this would do. Ordered the burger combo with Lentil soup. Asked for my burger medium and when it came out it was well past that and I'm pretty sure it was a frozen patty. I have frozen patties I cook at home that are great, so guessing it just wasn't very good quality to begin with. The lentil soup was flavorless and I only had a few bites before tossing out. Seasoning, a ham hock, and some aromatics would do a lot for this soup. Left feeling very disappointed as there are a bunch of more satisfying options in the area and I chose the wrong one. As I was sitting in traffic, my stomach started feeling like I ate some broken glass or something. Obviously there wasn't broken glass in the burger, just a fitting analogy. I had stomach pains for the next few hours. This is all I had eaten in like 10 hours, so I'm positive it was the burger. The woman at the counter was friendly and the place was pretty clean. Came here after visiting The Mystery Spot and glad we did. Me and the family loved the whole concept of Chunk the dog. I finally ventured from my usual order (the delicious Drayton) and tried the Philly Cheesesteak. Omg a new favorite!
