    #13 sub in a tub Mike's Way.
    Patty C.

I've been eating at Jersey Mikes in other locations around the Bay Area for years but when I heard they were coming to SV just minutes from my home I was excited. My two favorites are the big kahuna and the original #13. I like to get the #13 in a tub (sub in a tub is basically a salad - no bread). I get it Mikes Way and sometimes with extra cheese and meat. They have staffed it very well. Everyone helps each other out as many of the employees are new. All of the workers are always smiling and super nice. They have really started off making a great impression. It's also a bonus that they have seating inside. Another new spot came to the shopping center not long ago and they didn't have seating and it didn't go over well. Some people like to eat their food right away. I'll definitely be back.

    Portabella

What happened to Jersey Mike's in Scott's valley? We have been ordering sandwiches since they first opened up and this is the first time the sandwiches were so small and missing ingredients. I ordered the big kahuna and me wife that the portabella mushroom and Swiss. Both of these sandwiches had very little cheese and my with didn't think the mushrooms were portabella, they were so small. The big kahuna didn't have any grilled peppers, just one or two jalapenos. Even the bread seemed smaller. What happened? Did the come under new management? Now we will have to go back to Subway so we know what they put on the sandwich and how much.

I called in a #56, it was delicious. The 56 is my favorite. It was ready when I arrived, very efficient.

Sandwiches are good and I'm glad they have real brewed iced tea but I'm tired of dirty restaurants and cleaning my own table.

So freaking good. A little expensive but worth it! Plus you can share so much yummyness.

Ask the Community - Jersey Mike's Subs

    Do you make salads?

Not that I know of, but they do have the option to make a bowl out of the sandwich fillings.

Great subs, and the one in Scotts Valley has a great crew to go with it.

This I would say maybe is personal preference but it was just so so much breading but still good for sure. I got the spicy one with all the spicy mods and WOAH it was wayyy too spicy even for me. I had to deconstruct a bit to eat. The service is at this counter and you get it when your buzzer goes off. They have a fire pity outside area and an inside area. It's pretty warm bc of all the heating lamps even outside but the inside was way too crowded for me to even attempt to get a seat.

Only my visit I tried the Nashville Style Coleslaw Sando and it was fantastic. The spice from the Nashville seasoning paired great with the cooling nature of the coleslaw. The chicken had a great crunch to it yet was juicy and flavorful on the inside. I will say the fries were just fine, but whatever. They're not a fry place. They're a chicken place and they definitely nailed that. My only complaint here is that while there was no line like others have said in reviews, there appeared to be only one person running the entire place from ordering to cooking to handing out orders. That meant there were times when no one was there to take orders or hand them out. Both times I went I had to wait around a bit for the employee to show up to help me out. I get that they're trying to keep the overhead down, but I wish they had one person just working the door/counter. Maybe on weekends they're better staffed, but on the night we were there, you definitely felt the need for more workers. In all, I'm so glad I pulled an audible and came here instead of the other stall we were planning on going. This was one of the best chicken sandwiches I have had in a long time. All the flavors paired well together, the flavors were fantastic without being overpowering, and the portions were right on. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area.

All the staff were super friendly, energetic and cool to converse with. Light reggae music was playing in the background during our visit. We enjoyed two of their speciality sandwiches off their extensive menu - we ordered the Surfin' Pig and the Santa Cruz sub sandwiches. The Surfin' Pig has ham, avocado, bacon & cream cheese, with provolone cheese added when ordered as a hot sandwich. One can order with "all the fixings" or one can have the sandwich custom prepared as one wishes. Their Santa Cruz sub comes with pastrami, avocado, bacon & cream cheese, with provolone cheese added when ordered hot. Again, one can customize the toppings as one wishes. The bread was spongy and extremely fresh, as were all the ingredients on our well-assembled gourmet sandwiches which were packed with ingredients. I heard a staff member tell another customer Beach Hut freshly prepares all ingredients daily. They offer more than sandwiches: soups, salads and other specialty dishes of the day. In addition to a large variety of canned or fountain beverages, beer and wine are available.

That was a fantastic suggestion. The vibe was incredibly chill, much like you would find at the beach and the tables were fashioned like wooden surfboards. You Go to the counter to order and then they bring the food to you. The staff was very friendly and very beach-like. They had a great menu and choices of cold or hot sandwiches, munchies, happy hour foods, and salads. The ambience of the restaurant was very nice we did go a little between dinner and lunch in the afternoon but there were still quite a few people milling around. It was very clean and each booth was separated so you could hear yourself talk; it wasn't an open floor plan. There was outdoor seating as well, which was more of an open floor plan. The food was great. They had many different sizes of sandwiches. We got the three-inch, which was more than enough for us. I got the three-inch Santa Cruz, it's a cold sandwich, but there was very little fat on the pastrami. I also got a cup of clam chowder which had a little bit of bacon on top of-fantastic. The sandwich was fantastic and just the perfect size for a soup and salad combination. My wife got the skinny dipper just without mayonnaise and onions, but it had Au jus on the side. She said it also tasted fantastic and she got the chicken poblano soup. Both soups came with bread, thinly sliced small pieces of bread but they were fantastic with the soup. She had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, and I had one of their specialty beers. In all ohh the meal was fantastic. Couldn't have asked for a better spot in downtown Santa Cruz you've got to try this, it is fantastic, the food is great, the prices are reasonable and the soups are homemade. The ambience or the vibe as they say nowadays, was very calming. There are other locations. You might want to see if there's one nearer to you, but I can't guarantee it will have the same vibe as Santa Cruz did.
