Dreary outside, yummy and cozy inside!

Back at Wasabi Sushi in SV for the best rainy-day lunch around: a BIG bowl of ramen with chicken and egg, upgradeable with a choice of a few sushi rolls for a few dollars more. Salmon skin is a current favorite, and the rolls are also generous, This is our third time in as many weeks since we discovered this was offered. It's definitely a better deal than the local ramen-noodle oriented places, and very satisfying.

We've been out of our house for three nights. No power up in Boulder Creek decided decided to stay at the Hilton tonight. Didn't know what we wanted to eat. We wanted sushi. We ate it all of them but we decided to try wasabi went there when they first opened. We got signed up for all you can eat sushi you get three rounds of sushi. All you could possibly ever want. We left with two bags of food. I had to pay for the to go containers which I'm not quite sure what that was all about, but all in all it was $104 so a little bit more for the three of us to eat good time. The waitress was wonderful very accommodating and sweet. Felt really bad. She got kind of bullied by some takeout orders, and we kind of heard about it because the restaurant so small.

Got bento box and sushi for takeout. Easy to grab and pretty fast. California roll was good. Tuna was not great. In the bento box, chicken teriyaki was okay. But the other things were just okay. Overall it was an easy experience but the food was not what wanted.

I've been ordering from this new spot via Door Dash a few times and last night I finally went into the restaurant to eat. As you can expect, the food is presented so much prettier in person than via Door Dash, so that was pleasant to the eyes. Let me just say, the crunchy rice with spicy tuna on top is a MUST HAVE. I've had this at other places and no joke, the serving size here is 3 times the size. It has great texture and taste. Texture and taste is another way to describe the salmon skin salad. So flavorful and light but also filling. A very healthy and wonderful starter as well. I also had some yellow tail. Just having a simple plate can tell you a lot. The fish was nice and cold so you can tell they refrigerate their seafood well and don't over handle it. They actually put an extra slice of yellow tail rolled up on top of the two pieces. So I got 3 for the price of two. I also got a complimentary miso soup and hot tea. They were so nice and treated me like a repeat customer. I will definitely be back. Just a tip for the locals. This is located where the old Soul Sweets was. For the new people to the area it's the buildings located behind the main strip of buildings facing Scotts Valley Blvd.

bento box togo. Teriyaki salmon & chicken. Always perfectly portioned and beautifully done for take out.

We ended up heading over about a half hour before they closed (I think 9pm is the closing time?) They were already cleaned up (the chairs were stacked, etc), but they insisted they were open and were totally nice about it. For the people who are complaining of the price, I respectfully disagree. This place is not your average ice cream joint. From what I understand, the ice cream is made from scratch using ingredients from local farmers. The flavors are not your basic b*tch flavors, and I can totally appreciate that. My daughter got a single scoop of Fresh Mint Chip. I had a spoonful and it truly tasted like fresh mint, not that artificially flavored green mint chip stuff. I saw the sundae special for the weekend and I just couldn't pass it up. Here's what it was: mochi cakes topped with whipped cream, Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, blood oranges, toasted almonds, and green tea (matcha) sauce. I couldn't have come up with that combination myself. It was delightful! Overall, we enjoyed it!

Shoutout to Sophia (in training according to her name tag). She provided the best service I've had in a long time as she patiently explained their vast menu selection and exchanged genuine interactions. The double junior was the perfect size with 2 different flavors. I opted for the pistachio cardimon and the Oregon blackberry. I had a few bites of caramel/mocha flavors, which were slightly too sweet for me. Regardless, I feel you can't go wrong with any of their flavors and they provide samples. The inside is pretty cute with its retro flooring and wall decor. Plenty of tables to sit and enjoy. Small parking lot, but ample street parking around the shop. There were 2 people working there and behind the counter. No one greeted us. We looked at the menu and though we could have ordered at the counter, the staff didn't seem friendly like they wanted to be approached so we chose to order at the computerized kiosk! Other Yelpers said prices were average, but I thought the drinks were expensive! They start around $7 but that most do not include toppings, and each topping was $0.75. That adds up! (My go-to boba place in Santa Cruz has boba for $5.50, which includes 2 toppings, so....this seems like highway robbery.) Due to the high prices, out of three of us, we only ordered two drinks and only one of the drinks had an added topping. When they were done making the drinks, one drink had the plastic top sealed on and the other was placed on the counter. The staffer walked away. I was unsure if I should just take the drinks. They were clearly our drinks (I could see they were ours, plus we were the only customers), but it was odd the man put the drink there and walked away without saying anything! No communication, no eye contact. Nothing. After several minutes, he returned to complete the plastic cup cover sealing, and then he placed the cup in front of me. No "thank you", no "here you go", no "enjoy", nothing. It was odd. Other than the prices, the flavor of the boba was okay in flavor and chewiness, but the strawberry matcha drink had effects that, let's just say, caused someone hours of bathroom trips! We don't know if it was the milk or some other ingredient, but something was not right. Needless to say, we will not be returning to Soul Sweet. The store looked so cute in the photos, I think it had potential, but the freshness is important and price is an important factor.
