What an absolute Ship-Show…read more.. I was certain we were being Punk'd. At any moment I expected Ashton Kutcher to spring out from behind a curtain, headset dangling around his neck, laughing and pointing. But alas, there were no hidden cameras. This was sadly not a joke. And we weren't laughing. Our party arrived for dinner at roughly 8:30p, a full 90 minutes prior to the "Kitchen Closes at 10p" posted cut-off time. The staff behaved as though we rolled up at 9:58p. While we were excited about our meals, the Shippy's team was very clearly already done for the night. After navigating the waitlist and a hi-top bar table, we landed in our seats and placed our orders. We were there for dinner -- sadly our waitress was out to lunch. We ordered two burgers, two wurst platters, and two steak entrees. They got one of those six orders correct, while the other five went up in flames. Both wurst orders were cold. They were sent back to the kitchen, and came back cool. The two steak entrees -- one a filet, the other a strip -- were reversed. The filet came undercooked (arrived medium rare when medium well had been requested) while the strip, which was ordered medium rare, came in medium well. And of the two smash burgers, one was delicious. The other was missing. In fact, the food arrived in strange phases. One overcooked entree. By itself. Five minutes later, two cold entrees. Another five minutes, an undercooked entree, followed by the lucky smash burger. Twenty minutes later, and after multiple reminders, the final smash burger arrived. Clearly it had never been ordered and needed to be rushed. And "rush" is rather generous. Obviously the goal of a meal is for all entrees to arrive, at the proper temperatures, simultaneously. I've seen a snail wade through molasses at a better pace than this dinner service. However, perhaps the most frustrating part of this experience was the overall lack of urgency by the staff. As our table sat bewildered, our waitress was nowhere to be found. The staff was wiping down tables, cleaning menus, polishing check presenters, and all while we sat with cold, dead, and missing food. Our table was sinking fast, and instead of tossing us a life raft, Shippy's stood on the shoreline waving us Bon Voyage. Ultimately we had to call upon the manager, who tried her best but was without answers. There was nothing for her to do except remove one entree from the bill. In truth, the full meal should have been comped. It was that bad. And these were only the major issues. There were also wine mixups, dirty plates that stayed around longer than unwanted relatives at Thanksgiving, and empty glasses strewn about the table like red Solo beer cups at a fraternity party. To call the visit disappointing would be like referring to the Titanic as a row boat. This thing was an absolute disaster with Shippy's taking on water like a sea vessel made of Swiss cheese. Despite issues with temperature, speed, accuracy, and attentiveness, we still managed to spend nearly $400. It would have been more productive to simply burn a wad of cash right there at the table -- at least then we could have warmed up the wurst.

During our little New Year's trip to the area, we were hoping to get some seafood from Clamman but…read morethey were already closed for the night, so this was our next choice-- and boy, it did not disappoint! We got a huge order-- three piece of fried chicken with wing, thigh and drumstick, as well as the chicken sandwich and fries, mac and cheese side, and an order of hot wings, with an apple pie for dessert. Everything was brought out hot to the car, and they put it right into our trunk, so it was 100% pandemic proof. The fries are really delicious-- nice and thick cut, with good seasoning, the chicken sandwich is TERRIFIC-- nice soft roll, deliciously seasoned and fried chicken, the crisp and slightly sweet bread and butter pickles a perfect complement, and it's not so big that you feel like exploding after (but also-- makes you definitely not want to share!), and of course the chicken itself was nicely done. I was super surprised by how strangely good the wings were, too-- I always like wings, so I was ready to be happy, but these were like... exceptional, and surprisingly big-- really, really MEATY wings. Plus even the carrots and celery and blue cheese that came with were above normal levels of yummy. The only ding to our experience was the apple pie-- it was kind of goopy in an off putting way, like they used that slime from a can of "apple pie filling", so that was sad. But I still gave full stars because I was honestly enthralled by everything else, as was my fiance, so I'd just say maybe skip dessert and enjoy what you should be there for anyway-- the killer chicken.

I guess we should have ordered a burger this being a burger place but the chicken sandwiches were a bit on the dry side. We also got steak tacos which were decent and fries which I would say were pretty good. Nice beer selection. Overall an OK experience but probably would not return.

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had…read more My partner became ill and was unable to join me for dinner. We called the restaurant to either move our reservation to another day or cancel it, and were told that only the manager could assist us. However, we were told the manager was unavailable because he was busy speaking with regulars at a table. I asked if we could simply be placed on hold until he was available so we could find a solution. We were told no. Instead, the employee said they would "leave a note" and that someone would call us back if they were able to help. Meanwhile, we were told that if the reservation was canceled, we would be charged a $135 cancellation fee -- despite the fact that we were actively trying to work with the restaurant to either reschedule or resolve the situation. The experience became even more unacceptable when the employee eventually hung up on us and then stopped answering our calls. The restaurant only answered after American Express contacted them on our behalf. To be clear, I have no issue with a restaurant having a cancellation policy. What I have an issue with is the way this situation was handled: being told the manager was "too busy" to speak with us, being refused the simple courtesy of being placed on hold, having our calls screened, and ultimately being hung up on. That is an embarrassing level of customer service for an establishment of this caliber. I genuinely hope someone in management -- above the person working the restaurant that evening -- takes this seriously and addresses this behavior. A cancellation policy is one thing; treating a customer with this level of disrespect is another.

Had the mezcal Paloma and my wife had the bees knees which were both created to absolute perfection. The Littles looked over the menu and were kinda ‍ but our waiter must speak kiddo and said that they have chicken fingers and other kid meals that they would be happy to make. Score!! We got the fried calamari for the table to start. Crispy, fresh and beautifully tender. Kids devoured them and almost took one of our fingers off for the last one. My wife had the summer risotto and made a request for grilled chicken on top which they were happy to do. I had the Greek farro salad with grilled chicken, again, after a day of wine tasting it was the protein I needed and lightness I was looking for. Chicken as a topper on both dishes was abundant . Our servers were attentive without being intrusive or trying to rush us out. Host was friendly and accommodating, even checked up on us as she escorted other diners to their table. QPR was right on point. All dishes were fresh, seasoned to perfection, creative utilizing what's local and what's in season and generously portioned. This place stays on my radar and will be frequented again and again when we're in town next. I wish more spots in CT were this creative with locally grown ingredients and still maintained an ambience of a friendly neighborhood bistro. Very welcoming place.

The pancakes were good, I believe there were three and they are large. I especially like they serve real maple syrup. The steak and eggs were ok. The steak was marinated in some sort of teriyaki sauce I believe. Our party did not enjoy the steak. But we loved the home fries and the side of bacon was cooked perfectly. I would like to go back here and try their lunch and/or dinner. I also want to mention we arrived at 8:15 and it was really crowded by 9. It was a nice place to eat.
