My family used to adore the old cheese shoppe to the point where we had a house account there. The new owners tell every single customer it'll take 20-25 minutes. Then, it takes 45+. I heard multiple people complaining they were about to miss their train, their Uber was outside, etc, and their food still wasn't ready (or, it was ready and you could see it sitting there, but the owner is too disorganized to give it to them). The owner is unfortunately a miserable, rude person. I ordered a $250 cheese platter for pick up at a specific time. It was not ready when I arrived 15 minutes after the pick up time. I was having a party and had multiple pick ups and there was no parking. I could hear the owner rudely telling the worker that they "don't deliver" and to tell me that. I was not asking for a delivery, just standard customer service! She then called me to yell at me at tell me they are busy and can't bring it out. I said there is no reason to be rude and all I asked was the bring the platter to the back door. She proceeded to complain that they are very busy and don't do that. For a $250 platter that they were late making I expect better service! I loved this place. We were in Southampton in August for a beach day. Yes, the Cheese Shoppe was crowded. Other than the Golden Pear, which was also packed, it seemed the only other reasonable place to grab a quick breakfast on Main Street, which is on the way to the beach. Friendly people though. We even chatted up a runner who had just come back from doing a 5K, as we rubbed elbows trying to fill our coffee cups and get milk and sugar. That station could be organized better. However, they have a great selection of sandwiches for breakfast or lunch, and our wait was not that long. We ordered an egg, bacon and cheese sandwich and it was PERFECT. Not like the egg and cheese sandwiches you get in the city at all....a fluffy soft, fresh roll spread with a delectable sweet roasted red pepper spread, a few leaves of tender baby spinach, easy over eggs cooked just right in butter and just a slice or two of melty white cheddar. They have nice cafe table style seating near the front and we were able to get a seat by the window. Very pleasant breakfast, and since our tea and coffee were in paper cups we could take them to go and we were soon on the beach. read more

I ordered ahead of time online, but the staff gave away my board and then repeatedly asked me if someone in my household picked it up. There are order numbers for a reason! This in no way was my fault but their own, and they treated me rudely. They also asked me to wait outside on a cold rainy weekend (Memorial Day weekend). It was a terrible experience overall, and the board was not worth the price.
