What a fantastic experience I had with this shop and the owner, Tom. I brought in a poster from a French museum that featured the paintngs of my great- grandfather with the hope it could be enhanced in size, framed, etc. Tom guided me through the various options and within 15 minutes we came up with the right combination. I ordered four for family members as gifts for my children and a nephew. Yesterday I got a call from Tom saying the finished product was in and ready for pickup, which I did today. Tom expertly shrink-wrapped together the four pictures for easy transport and brought them to my vehicle. I left the shrink-wrap on since it's a gift, but you can get a sense of the quality of the frame and reproduction. Tom is the epitome of a small shop owner who cares about his workmanship and his customer service. And a great story teller. read more

I have framed many prints and paintings over the past decade, and the Picture Place has become my favorite shop for superlative work. Tom provides excellent advice on the frame that fits the image. He is accomplished with objects ranging from inexpensive posters to original prints to oil paintings. He will never sell you more than you want but will always give you sharp assessments on what you need, with alternatives to fit your pocketbook and your taste. Most recently, he helped me by resetting the wire on the back of an old picture--and did it on the spot for no charge. You will not regret bringing your framing jobs to The Picture Place. read more

Wonderful small shop with friendly and knowledgeable staffs. I used another framer (which had won the best of Boston several times) before. But since they were quite expensive and they moved away, I found this shop to try. I am extremely glad I found them. The prices are better and the staffs worked with my style to suggest suitable frames. I have done 6 frames since then and each of them are different with wonderful results. I highly highly recommend this place! read more

The Picture Place - A subtle grey metallic looking wooden frame with grey matt. - Framing Near Me - Brookline, Massachusetts

We went here on the recommendation of Kolbo Fine Judaica (across the street) for framing of our Ketubah (the Jewish marriage certificate). We brought the Ketubah in right after we bought it (before the wedding - over a year ago) and were helped by 2 people. They were very knowledgeable and, while not overly friendly, were nice and helpful. We mounted the Ketubah on the foam(?) backing and they put a piece of acetate over it, so that we could sign it during the wedding, but keep it safe and secure. We finally brought it back for the final framing a few months ago (it sat in our place for quite a while). We picked a nice, simple frame - the woman who helped us pick the frame let us look around and touch what we wanted, but also gave us help and advice when asked. They obviously didn't charge for the backing, since that was done, so we only had to pay for the frame, glass and matting. It was pretty reasonable in price (part of that depends on the frame you use) and they were actually having a sale right when we brought it in for a discount on any wedding-related framing. Good thing we waited so long!! I would definitely go back there for anything else important that needs framing, as they are dependable, do a good job and are helpful. read more

I work in the area. I tried this place out after a quick search on google turned them up. There were three people there that were all getting along and seemed to really enjoy the design process. The owner introduced himself and offered ma a water after I coughed. Which was sweet and thoughtful. The end result of my project was very well done and completed before the day they told me. read more

Got great help for a last minute framed Christmas gift. Staff was friendly and did a thoughtful, creative job!

I have had a few pictures framed here over the years. After purchasing two paintings that did not have any backing for hanging, I stopped to see if they could help. Not only did hanging wires get installed within a matter of minutes, the work was done free of charge. It's not often these days to receive that level of customer service! read more

Quality work with a collaborative spirit from the staff is what you will receive from The Picture Place. I've had a couple things framed here in the last month or so, and have had great experiences. The pieces I brought in had two different flavors of need: the first was a basic print and the second was more of an idea that I had in need of some pro consultation. I worked with Dave both times, and he was entirely cool, mellow, and helpful. He took the time to lay out dozens of frame possibilities without ever pushing me into the pricier options. As I mentioned earlier, it was very collaborative. The first piece is finished and is hanging on my wall....looks great! The second project is a bit more involved and is in process at the time of this review. Overall, the cost is good for the level of quality you will receive in the finished piece. Also of note is that the turn around time isn't bad at all. The first job took maybe 8-10 days. Definitely worth stopping in for your framing needs, you'll appreciate the superior outcome to a large scale framer like Micheal's or even other independent shops. read more

Top notch work. I have been slowly but surely framing concert posters I've had for YEARS (and some recent ones) over the last 5 or so years here. It is a little pricey - sure - but it's custom framing and these are "forever" pieces. They work with you very closely and don't rush you in helping decide which frame, which type of glass, color schemes, etc. instead of some dinky little frame from Michaels that won't even fit properly or protect the image over time. 100 percent worth the money and going in here is a great experience - super hands on and involved with exactly what you want and they work within any type of budget. I will continue framing here as I still have about 15 posters left to go lol. LOVE this place and the final products I have!!!! read more

Hands down the best framing place I have ever been to, of all 12 city/states I've lived in. Not only are their prices fair, but the staff is overwhelmingly friendly and knowledgable. I highly recommend David. He has a wonderful eye, and strives to capture the emotion of the picture and offers insight into what type of frame, that can bring it all together in a cohesive masterpiece. As a bonus, David is full of a plethora of information on Boston, it's surrounding areas, art, music, movies and the list could go on. I've had over 10 pieces framed here. Don't go anywhere else to get something framed. read more

great framing, reasonable prices, and helpful staff. I went back today to have something framed after I was so pleased with the first two items I had framed earlier this summer. The girl who helped me said an exact date when I could pick up my frame - two weeks from today, and apologized for the wait. Previously I had gone to Caswell Gallery in Beacon Hill, but just felt like they were soooo pricey. This is now my go-to frame shop in Boston! read more

Great service, safe covid protocols and kindness, a delightful local business! The size of this small shop is deceptive as the frame and mat options are extensive. The proprietor and staff are very knowledgeable and helpful for any framing needs. I have had standard diplomas and photos framed inexpensively as well as complex original art framed with museum quality glass and great care, all with perfect results. The turnaround time is quick and the service is friendly and professional. The shop is conveniently located on Harvard Street next to the Arcade with a large public parking lot in the back. read more

Love this place. Brought in a watercolor that was in a broken frame, and needed to be replaced. The owner was incredibly helpful. We must have gone in on a slow day for him, because he was so attentive and spent a lot of time giving great suggestions as to what color and quality frame we should go for. Gave us a fair price and quick turnaround. Really friendly guy. read more

Came here to get a picture stretched, came out with a beautiful frame. The guy who works here is a little quirky, but you could tell he actually cared about getting the best out of your painting and frame. Didn't shop around so not sure about how competitive the prices are, but happy with the job done. read more

Bob did another great job at mounting and framing a piece that I actually purchased from him 20 years ago! I had him reframe the "Iris" Susan Singleton lithograph that needed some modern framework...Bob rose to the occasion! I gave him Carte Blanche and believe it or not, the accent color in the double mounting is the exact match to my wall color! I couldn't be happier!! Thanks Bob!! In early February, my husband and I took a bunch of playbills from Shakespeare's Globe to be framed at the Picture Place. We had lived in London for many years and enjoyed attending the performances at the Globe each season. From the moment we walked in David took such great care of us. He helped us arrange the playbills, pick the matting, and the frame. If you are looking for something to be framed go here and ask for David. The final product is gorgeous and was very reasonable priced. David put so much hard work and dedication into making sure that the frame and matting fit the feel of the playbills being framed. Thank you so much, David and The Picture Place! I will be back again! read more

Please note that the Picture Place has changed ownership though it retains the same name, logo etc. I had been taking my stuff to them for years before when one day I just found them closed with no information on the door. Then they reopened and it looked like the place had been changed around so I thought it had just been renovated. I was very pleased since I had always had great work from them so I took a valuable signed and numbered print to frame. I quickly realized that it was new ownership when they could not find me in their system but I figured they'd be ok even though the price for the frame was a bit higher than what I had expected. When I picked up the framed print it looked a little wavy on the top - it was framed matless in a 'box' configuration - but I was assured that that was normal. I had asked for some associated materials to be kept with the frame - which usually means they get placed in a plastic envelope affixed to the back of the frame, they had just pinched them into the clips. After a few days hanging at home the print started drooping and was soon askew and the ripple across the top became extremely pronounced. I took it back to them and the owner told me that he had fired the person that framed my print and that he would fix it. I got it back and it looked better so I took it home and again after a month or so, the linen tape that was used to affix it to the backing came undone on the right corner enough that it twisted the left corner which has permanently wrinkled and cracked the delicate finish of the print which has foil paint. I took it to another large well known framing place and was told that the wrong materials were used to attach the print to the backing and it would have never held. When we took the print out of the frame the damage was even more extensive to the back as it looked like at least two different types of adhesives had been used and ripped off taking a fair amount of the paper off the back of the print in those two top corners. The backing white foamcore had also been reused from the first botched attaching job and it would have been essentially impossible to adhere the print with new adhesive. The bottom line is the print has loss most if not all its value and I have been forced to go to another frame shop to have their botched careless job repaired. read more

Very kind and helpful. And great craftsmanship. Highly recommend this group of framers. Their turn around is also very timely. You won't be disappointed. read more

I wanted to hang a framed painting, but the frame had no way to attach wire for hanging. I took it into The Picture Place to see if they could attach some for me. Abby helped me right away and was so nice, advising me that covering the back in paper would also help protect the painting. She attached D-rings and wire in 5 minutes and charged me $5. So worth it! It would have taken me at least 30 minutes to do that myself even if I had had the drill, the rings or the patience - which I didn't. So worth it! It also looked like they had a great selection of frame styles in the shop. I will come back here for any other framing needs. read more

I have used the Picture Place to frame several pieces in the last four years. My experiences have been positive in every way. The choice of frames is excellent. Staff suggestions reflect creativity, knowledge and good taste without being intrusive. And they are always respectful of the customer. They mean to please. I recommend the shop without any qualifications. Judy read more

Loved this place for over 20 years under former ownership and their work was superb. Called recently and learned that ownership had changed and the people who had been doing the excellent work had left. The person who took my call provided negative and abrupt answers plus when I asked a further question, hung up on me. After speaking with other framers in the area, there appears to be a general consensus that the excellent quality and customer service has not transferred under new ownership. read more
