I found Framers Workshop online ...They not only do professional framing they also provide the materials , workspace and professional instructors to guide you through the process of framing your own work !!!!! What a great idea ...They have many amazing frames that you can pick from on site , as well as matting in all colors that can be cut to size while you wait....The team members manning the counters were very helpful in the process .. in no time at all I had my supplies and with help from staff ( a lot of help ) in the workshop I was out in record time with a beautiful framed piece of memorabilia for my son's 40 th surprise birthday party....I was under a lot of pressure as this was a special gift there was no room for error But I can't wait to go back to try this again when I'm more relaxed !!!! I brought in a poster from a…read moreFrench museum that featured the paintngs of my great- grandfather with the hope it could be enhanced in size, framed, etc. Tom guided me through the various options and within 15 minutes we came up with the right combination. I ordered four for family members as gifts for my children and a nephew. Yesterday I got a call from Tom saying the finished product was in and ready for pickup, which I did today. Tom expertly shrink-wrapped together the four pictures for easy transport and brought them to my vehicle. I left the shrink-wrap on since it's a gift, but you can get a sense of the quality of the frame and reproduction. Tom is the epitome of a small shop owner who cares about his workmanship and his customer service. And a great story teller.

It is rare to find a shop that delivers on the "triple threat" of quality, price, and speed, but they manage all three. Moses and Jake are incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. I brought them 10 framed portraits that were many years old and terribly faded. They did their magic and restored them beautifully and thoughtfully. I brought in smaller pictures so they could accurately color match. The results brought tears to my eyes. Such a difference! While it's an increased cost, the museum glass is totally worth it - no light reflections and it looks like the person is right there in front of you, looking out. It took more than four weeks and it cost almost $300…read more One of the artworks had the wire on the back incorrectly installed and after five days of hanging on the wall, the frame fell down and was irreparably damaged. I sent an email to The Picture Store with images of what had happened and asked for a refund for the one artwork that was done incorrectly. I left a message a week later and now, after almost two weeks, I still have not heard back. Go someplace where the customers are treated respectfully after the work is finished.

Framing: 5 stars Attitude of staff: 2 stars…read more I will say that I've gone to both Big Picture Framing in Porter Square as well as in Harvard Square. My experience at Harvard Square was 5 star worthy until pickup. I needed an appointment to have my custom framing session which went off without a hitch. I booked online, they let me in when I arrive and had me in and out in less than 30min. After a couple weeks, I got a call letting me know that my item was ready for pickup and to just knock on the door when I got there. They close at 6 so I made an attempt to arrive at 5:45 on a Wednesday for a quick pickup but the lights were already out and no one was around. I get life happens and maybe the associate had to leave early, no harm. I come the next day at 5:15 and I see someone at the desk, I knock at the door and he makes eye contact with me and it looks like he gets on the phone so I assume he's calling someone to let me in. Now, I don't have an appointment because I'm picking up and was told I don't need one. At this point no one has come out and I've been standing outside in the cold for about 5 minutes when I give another wave and he continues to ignore me. Finally, he gets up from the desk walks up to the door and from behind the door, forcefully taps on the paper on the door about needing an appointment for framing services, and with an attitude says "go online", then quickly turns around back to the desk. Now, I was instructed to show up and knock on the door which I did so I said I'm here to pickup. He begrudgingly turned around and asked my name and hands me my print from a crack in the door, in the dark, without showing it to me or giving me a second to look at it. I had a large piece framed at the Porter Square location about 2 months ago and when I arrived they took the 3 minutes to ensure that it was what I'd ordered and to my standard. I couldn't have been more disappointed with how my experience ended here at Harvard Square and now know to steer clear. They may do a great frame but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Had the associate seen me knock and come over to let me know I needed an appointment immediately, I would've been able to let them know I was here for a pickup without issue. Instead, this person made the choice to ignore me instead of taking the 30 seconds to come up and try to help. Really disappointing.
