I brought a couple of prints that I got in Hong Kong (for about $5 each) and really just wanted them stretched out on a simple wooden frame (they prints are on a canvas). I didn't want to spend too much as these were inexpensive imitation prints, but wanted them to look decent as they were going into my office at work. Well, I got some great advice. After inspecting the prints, the associate assisting me suggested that I get them framed in simple black frames. The way the prints were on the canvas, stretching them out would not have looked good, she explained. Plus doing so would almost be as much as getting them framed. I am extremely happy with the results! I was told that they would be ready in a week but I didn't end up picking them up a few weeks later due to work travel. When I picked them up, the two framed pieces were carefully and well wrapped in brown paper. I was shown the final product before paying. I am so happy with the quality of work. I've had about four pieces done here... the first being my navy unit patches, one foot by two and s half, aluminum brushed frame with navy background. Had a shadow box made for my brother who is a cop, and it came out very nice. I had a police shadow box made up for myself. The last thing I had worked was my Navy Shellback certificate which was crinkled and rolled for 30 years... they pressed it or something because it looks like the day I got it... just fantastic. Good people, great service, parking on the street;!i should note they are a wee pricey, but hey I cannot frame they way they do so it all evens out. Five stars. read more

Just about everyone's talked about the framing, but I'd come here for the art supplies when I lived in Quincy. Quincy has a real dearth of art supply outlets -- this was the only one I knew about -- and when my wife decided to take up oil painting, here's where I picked up the needful things for her, and stopped back periodically for refills. I admit I only visited a couple times after the shop was forced out of the downtown by that idiotic McGrath extension boondoggle (it was no longer in my LOS, and the Utrecht store in Boston was), but I always found a wide selection. More than that, I found quality service. I didn't know squat about oil painting myself, and a clerk patiently talked me through options to fit my budget. When the exact thing I wanted wasn't in stock, they ordered it, with a price and speed competitive with online. One bone I'd like to pick is the assessment of the shop's wares as "$$$ pricey." I never found them so; they were reasonably and competitively priced. (Believe me, I've seen art supply places that were very different.) Were I still living in the area, I'd still be inclined to patronize Frantic Framers. read more

I got a map framed for my dad for his birthday. It was the first time I went to Frantic Framers, but it definitely won't be the last. They were awesome. The woman who helped me pick out the frame was so patient and had a waaay better eye for color and detail than I did -- she spent about 15 minutes with me talking about different tones and what might complement the colors in the map, and the frame she helped me pick out was exactly perfect. When I picked up the finished product I was thrilled -- it was even better than I thought it would be. Beautiful and professional. But somehow, on the way home, the frame got scratched. I called them in a panic and they said they could try to patch it for me, but the patching was obvious. So they re-framed the whole thing FOR FREE. I could not believe it. They were so kind about it, said they wanted us to have a good experience, and said they would fix it, no problem. They had the new frame done within 24 hours. My dad loved it. Completely happy ending. I would recommend them to anybody. Not only do they do a completely wonderful job, their customer service is top-notch, and above all they want you to be happy. It was completely above and beyond for them to reframe the entire thing. Definitely go here! read more

I called these guys in the morning to see if they had a frame and mat that could work with a 3ft by 11.5" picture. The guy on the phone told me that they probably do, and to come on in and we'll find something. When I showed up, I told the guy at the dest about my call in the morning, and he said that they didn't have anything that would work for me. Good stuff. When I let him know how pissed I was, he asked what the big deal was, since I was from around here (as mentioned within the extended conversation that I omitted to keep you, the reader, from getting too bored.), and that I'm not a regular customer anyway. Well, that's one way to look at it. The other was is to look at it how it is; I was mislead, and then brushed off. What if I was from Hull, and made the 30 minute drive because they had said they had something? And if making new, regular customers isn't important to them, and good customer service is important to you, then I say take your business elsewhere. read more

Very impressed with these guys. I came here after giving up with the 18 year old clerk at Michaels could not help me or suggest anything to do to frame my print without paying more than $700. I went to this place and met the owner, who is extremely helpful and informative. You can tell he takes pride in his work. I have gone back twice now for different things, including one print as a last minute gift on christmas eve at 2:00pm. Not only did they do it for Christmas, but they made several suggestions that made it look awesome. I had to pay a few hundred for what I wanted, but this was much cheaper than what Michaels quoted me. I would even go here if it were a few dollars more as the service is terrific. read more

Wow! The job this shop did custom framing and matting my med school diploma was absolutely amazing!! Being that I don't usually get things framed, I used yelp to see what was in the area and found these guys. They were extremely patient, knowledgeable, and helpful with choosing the colors and design of the frame (I think I spent nearly 45 minutes vacillating between all the options) and completed the job in less time than they had originally told me. Their price was also very competitive with what my school had to offer to get my diploma framed. I've worked with Frantic Framers in the past and have NEVER been disappointed. Don't know about Bill E's experience but it's always helpful to get the name of the person you spoke with before heading into any shop. Rick is one of the best in the business. He offers great suggestions but will do whatever you'd like. I had a special project I was working on for my nephew and Rick came up with solutions and creativity that I would never have thought of. I brought piece in late Thursday night and asked for the impossible timeline of Friday and he delivered. The project came out amazing and he also embellished it to be sooooo much better than even I imagined. My nephew and his wife were WOW'd. The staff there is always courteous and extremely helpful and although they charge more than a place like Michael's, which is where everyone suggested I take my project b/c it's "more affordable", I chose Frantic Framers simply b/c you always get a far superior and professional product. They know their business and I will strongly recommend them to handle your special project. read more

We have had a few pieces framed here over the past couple of years. They do a great job and are really helpful about picking out a frame and mat - and are patient when you're slow and indecisive! My husband got our wedding invitation framed as a gift for me, and when the adhesive on the invitation itself failed (our fault), they pulled the whole thing apart and fixed it up, no charge. (Guess the two sided taped we used wasn't archival strength!) Custom framing is not cheap, but for special or odd sized items, it's the way to go, and from our experience, Frantic Framers does it well. We've had framing done at Micheaels as well, but never compared estimates on the same piece, so it's hard to say how costs line up between the two. read more

I recently had three completely different types of art framed by Frantic Framers on two separate occasions. I dealt with three people, at different times, and all were all extremely helpful and spent much time with me picking out frames and mattes. Even though it took awhile to figure out color schemes (since there's so many options and variables) I did not feel one bit of pressure to decide quickly. FF certainly aims to please. The business advertises on the South Shore and offers a discount coupon thru 3rd class mail. I brought three items in to be framed: 2 18th c. prints to be re-matted in the original frames and another print to be matted and framed in a frame that I supplied. The entire experience was a disaster. The 2 18th c. prints were crudely and unnecessarily removed from the boards they were attached to, and damaged, and had to be rematted to hide the losses. These pieces were ruined. The 3rd print slipped in its mat some weeks later and had to be re-attached. Needless to say, if you care for quality framing - STAY FAR AWAY! read more

I can't believe this business hasn't been reviewed yet. It's the BEST! I went in last week and had all sorts of artwork to have framed. The staff there took over an hour to help me choose the frames, suggest great colors that matched my artwork, what shape would be best with the work, etc. They knew which artwork required glass, which didn't. They knew exactly what they were doing. And the framing didn't even take that long, as they called me since my work was ready even before the scheduled date! When I asked how they were so knowledgeable, they said they'd been doing this for 40+ years! I picked up my artwork yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased, it came out AMAZING!! I have used Frantic Framers on several occasions for very high end items. The quality that I find each time I use them is unsurpassed (and for a very fair price, as well). During my last visit to have several autographed television scripts framed, I had the pleasure of dealing with Rick.
