The noodles were not uniform which makes me think they might have been hand pulled noodles. The pork xiao long bao was okay only because the broth had little flavor with minimal dimensions. The pan fried pork and scallion dumplings were crispy and quite flavorful. My diagnosis: good authentic Chinese option in the woodlands.

Searching for a banh mi sandwich with tofu for a quick lunch takeout, I was pleased to see that the restaurant was close to interstate 45 for a quick stop on the way back to Houston (timing is everything to beat the traffic in this area - IYKYK). I ended up ordering both the tofu vermicelli and a tofu banh mi because obviously, you need to try more than one thing. It was fine. Out of the two dishes, the vermicelli was my favorite. It came with a generous portion of noodles, a small lettuce and shredded carrot salad, several large wedges of tofu in a kind of curry sauce, and the classic vermicelli sauce to drizzle over the whole dish. The flavor was good, although what I would consider a slight deviation from traditional flavors, and overall filling. Vermicelli is always a dependable choice and I was satisfied with this dish. The tofu banh mi, however was nothing special. I prefer the bread to be a bit more crispy on the outside with a soft interior and this one was fairly soft all over. Inside, the tofu really needed more seasoning, seemingly cooked without any added flavors except for the fried finish. I added some hoisin sauce but still it needed something more. I'm always eager to try new places but not sure that this one will be a repeat for me.

1-Star Review: Absolute Disaster - Never Returning to True (False) Food Kitchen…read more We had one of the worst dining experiences imaginable at True Food Kitchen. We ordered our food, and it simply never came. After a long wait, our Brazilian waitress kept stringing us along with repeated false updates about how soon it would be ready. She left us hanging the entire time with zero accountability. What made it even more infuriating was the staffing situation. There were visibly more servers and kitchen staff than actual customers in the restaurant. Yet somehow, nothing was getting done. We watched plates of other customers' food sitting in the pass window for over 10 minutes while seven different servers casually walked right by, letting it sit there getting stale and old. Our server in particular seemed completely disinterested in doing her job--she had zero urgency or care for our table. The cavalier, neglectful attitude from the entire team felt like a systemic problem, not just one bad shift. It was as if the restaurant's "healthy, mindful" branding was just a front for pretentious, ill-mannered service that couldn't care less about actually delivering on basics like getting food to the table. We finally flagged down the manager, who at least gave us straight information: our order would still be another 10 minutes on top of the already excessive wait. At that point, we'd had enough and left without eating. This place is a nest of neglectful incompetence. Between the false promises, indifferent staff, and total disregard for customers, we will never patronize True Food Kitchen again. Save your time and money--go somewhere that actually values service.

We placed an order with Phofix at 8:11 PM, with an estimated delivery time of 9:00 PM, but didn't receive our food until 9:45 PM. During that time, two drivers were waiting for our order, and the food wasn't ready until 9:30 PM. Unfortunately, when the order finally arrived, all the meals were incorrect. We received five identical dishes, despite the labels reflecting different items that we had actually ordered. It would have been preferable if we had been informed that our order could not be fulfilled, rather than waiting 1.5 hours only to receive incorrect items. We reached out to management via email two days ago but have not received a response. I typically avoid leaving negative reviews, but I hope the owners or management address this issue and provide some clarification. read more

Having recently visited Thailand, I wanted to taste their version of boat noodles, so I got that, and crispy pork, to stir things up. You know, sometimes I knock it out the park, and sometimes I make a foul play. While these noodles had a lot of flavor, I don't think I'll be ordering this again. The brother was rich, and bold. I loved that. It had a great spice level. I like the chewiness of the noodles, cooked just right. But this was nothing like what I had in Thailand. This reminded me of a Vietnamese soup (the name is escaping me) that doesn't get served often because of it's pungent fermented fish flavor. The bood cakes and tripe aren't new to me, I love Bun bo hue, but this wasn't it. The crispy pork was made really well, I just wish they added salt. It was saved by the amazing sauce it came with. Now that I think about it, it could be that they withheld salting the pork for the purpose you're supposed to get that from the sauce? I dunno, I just need them to sell the sauce in a bottle so I can take it home with me. It reminds me of the viral "crack sauce" I see on tik tok. I want to come back and try more dishes. They have some things you wouldn't necessarily find in other places.
