My husband and I came here for dinner while on a baby moon in the Woodlands. Although it was in the 90s outside (Houston summers), the restaurant was cooled perfectly enough to order soup. We started off with the pho dip as an appetizer and it was pretty solid. Only issue is the meat was chewy. The dipping broth was great and the bread was nice and soft. My husband had the beef stew and loved it and I ordered the soy sauce chicken broken rice. The egg pancake that the broken rice came with was phenomenal! I enjoyed Pho prime I got to taste some of their offerings at a Yelp event and had to make my way into the restaurant to try their pho and bahn mi. I ordered the egg rolls and the shrimp pancakes to start. The egg rolls were really good but the shrimp pancake was not my favorite. The egg was sunken in and didn't really have any flavor. It was also a bit soggy. The pho was very good. The broth had a great flavor to it. I also came back the next day and ordered the beef bahn mi. All the ingredients in the Bahn mi dac biet ($9 plus tax=$9.74) were thinly sliced, so visually it looked a little different from other places. The pickled daikon and carrots looked a little too translucent, which made me think they wouldn't hold much flavor, which was true. The meats tasted fine on their own. Instead of getting layers of different texture and flavors though, the flavors kind of blended together. I think the plastic packaging is really wasteful, especially when you think of how the typical wrapping is a few sheets of paper and a rubber band or another paper bag. What a hidden gem tucked away in the Woodlands area. Although there are a plethora of amazing Pho restaurants in Houston, finding a decent one way up north here can be challenging. The Pho Fix is definitely the fix for that. The menu consists of the typical Vietnamese noodle varieties you will find in most Vietnamese restaurants ranging from dry to soup noodles. The main difference is that you can customize your own bowl from scratch. There is almost a Chipotle/Cava element by allowing this option and it is amazing. Of course, I ordered a very typical combination Pho bowl to go. The takeaway packaging is extremely well thought out. The soup will leave the store piping hot and toppings are mostly individually bagged to not cause any cross-contamination (beef is raw). They also provide all the condiments you will need. When assembling at home, I found that the Pho looks no different than eating at the restaurant. The beef broth is extremely clean and beefy. The meat topping is high quality and the herbs and vegetables are generously provided. Overall, the experience was positive. While the pho did not blow me away, it will satisfy anyone's craving for a hot bowl of pho. read more

This restaurant is from the same restaurant group as the adjacent Crawfish Cafe and Ocean Palace. They are also just another restaurant in The Woodlands using the name Prime for a different use. In the culinary world, at least when it comes to beef, prime has a special meaning, but the menu does not indicate any use of prime beef. Aside from my initial disappointment, they have a nice range of dishes ranging from soups to rice dishes, vermicelli, as well as a few classics (bo ne, bo kho, and bun bo hue). Their noodle soups are on the pricy side ranging from 13-32, but the higher priced ones are the more premium meats you don't see as often at Vietnamese soup kitchens like short rib, brisket, smoked brisket, bone marrow and oxtail. I chose the bo ne since it has a great price point at only $17, but I did add the bone marrow since I wanted to see how they make/present it. The dish also comes with a small salad. The rest of the table ordered soup and an egg sandwich. No complaints from the rest of my group that ordered soups, so it must have been good. The egg sandwich just comes with a french bread. Bo Ne - comes in a cast iron skillet with chinese sausage and tender chunks of tenderloin. This also came with 2 french bread loaves, plenty to make 2-3 small sandwiches, if you choose to eat it that way. Also included is a ramekin with butter and pate. I immediately noticed the bone marrow did not come in the skillet and figured it may come on a different plate, depending on its size. I have ordered bone marrow at other restaurants and its an elaborate presentation, but here its just one small bone sliced in half, which I later found out. I notified the waitress, and she went back to the kitchen to see what happened to my bone marrow and came out a couple of minutes later telling me that it will take about 10 minutes to make and will be comped. I breathed a slight sign of relief at that point because it would be painful for them to forget one of my items which I paid extra for, and they not only failed to bring it out, but it also came late. When it finally came out from the kitchen, I scooped some out onto a sandwich and took a bite only to realize that part of the marrow was actually cold. This tells me they likely keep the bone refrigerated (or frozen) prior to being ordered and the chef doesn't know how to properly re-heat it when preparing it. For an $8 add-on to an entree, this is just unacceptable. Other than the bone marrow snafu, this restaurant is pretty good and located in an excellent spot within the shopping center. read more

Why 4 stars? Because a pho dip is a great way to combine the best of both worlds. --- --- --- When I go to a Vietnamese restaurant, my go-to is banh mi. I am obviously always tempted by pho too, but because I have spent most of my life living in Houston or Florida, we don't have many cold days, and pho is about 10x more appealing when it's cold outside. The Pho Dip was the perfect meshing of these two worlds: a banh mi with a very small bowl of pho for dipping. And when I was done with the sandwich, I was happy to slurp up every drop of that delicious pho. The only thing holding this back from a 5-star experience is that the banh mi itself was just... fine, but I have had better. The bread was excellent, but between the bread left a bit to be desired. 1. Service - Staff are nice and friendly. No complaints. The business concept here is similar to a fast food chain. You order and pay at the cashier, and sit yourself down. The only thing different is that your meal is not instantly ready, they'll bring your bowl out when it's ready. 2. Price - it's roughly $13 a bowl of pho, and can be as high as $26 a bowl for their SUPREME bowl. I don't know if I want to pay so much for pho. $13 is already a lot, and I expected that in an area outside of Chinatown. I also feel that their prices for their Vermicelli bowl and Banh Mi sandwiches are a lot more than what I had expected. 3. Ambiance - the decor is nice. Very captivating. What really stood out to me was the inviting pho aroma in the air as soon as you walk in. Dress code here is casual. 4. Food - you order how you like it. It's very customizable. So the idea is nice, but in my opinion the broth is where it is lacking. It is a bit too sweet to my liking. However, this is to everyone's preference. Others may like it sweet, so don't decide to go or not based on what I think. I have ordered their PHO COMBINATION BOWL. Not enough meat by default. You can pay more to get more. 5. Cleanliness - restrooms and dining area are very clean. SUMMARY - The Pho Fix is a little high in prices compared to its competition. I personally prefer a more savory flavored broth. The Pho Fix Shenandoah did NOT disappoint. Number 3 in line for their grand opening so of course I was in the number to get the free shirt. All of my food was freshly made on spot so was glad of that. I ordered a beef rib in hopes that it would be tender and it most definitely lived up to my expectations. Dinner time and was very empty. After tasting the food I can understand why. The morsels of food were so tiny. Not even enough to feed half my stomach. I had the beef vermicelli and it came with a bowl of the most salty tasting soup I didn't even take more than a couple sips. The food is incredibly overpriced for what you get. I would skip this restaurant and go to the other Vietnamese restaurant in the same plaza called EAD Vietnamese food which is a 10/10 on food and even though they are pricey too it's worth paying for it versus here. After seeing this concept on Facebook, I knew I had to give it a try. I love how bright and clean the restaurant is. The line around opening on a Tuesday was not long, and it moved quickly. I ordered the Pho Dip sandwich and a custom pho bowl, which were both mouth watering and absolutely phenomenal. The pho dip is a must have. I'm visiting Houston for the first time, and being half Viet, of course I had to find a pho place. After doing a little research I found Pho Prime. It has a nice store front and the interior was nice. I ordered Pho #4 which is the pho with fatty beef, and let me tell you, it was so good. The broth was flavorful and the amount of meat was just right!( I got the large bowl). The only thing I would suggest changing is that they keep the salt and pepper as a side and not on top of the pho. I also ordered Viet coffee, it had good flavor, however, it's not as strong as when I get them when I visit Vietnam. Maybe they make it weaker for westerners. Nonetheless, the food was still good ad the service was excellent and on point. I would definitely come back here and recommend it when in the Houston area. read more

*ROACH WARNING* check ur food before you eat it. This was my fave place to get a vermicelli bowl until today. The lemon grass pork was my favorite until today when they added roach into it. I'm forever traumatized after my experience here where I nearly (or potentially did) ingested pieces of roach. I was enjoying my bowl until half way through when I was almost ready to box it up for leftovers for dinner, I spotted what looked like a roach wing. I thought surely I'm losing my mind and this is a piece of an onion shell??!! Sure enough, I started digging around my bowl and I found the leg of the roach.
