I don't normally write reviews but this restaurant was not the same we previously enjoyed. We have been coming to the Cape for many years and this was a disappointment. The service was extremely slow and the food was very very overpriced. The presentation of food was terrible. For the price we paid you expect more. Sorry this is my very first review and I m afraid not a very good one If you want a goodfood, well presented and excellent service go down the street to Scargos read more

We got takeout last weekend and it was delicious! Easy to reheat, the portions were perfect and the pick up was a breeze. The Chef prepares one entree each weekend and ours was a Mexican chicken which was beautifully seasoned and memorable! It even came with a tasty dessert as a bonus. We can't wait to try it again!! Kudos to the Chef! read more

The Pheasant is a nice place to eat next time you find yourself in the Dennis area on Cape Cod. Last Sunday, a large group of us enjoyed The Pheasant's wonderful brunch. The manager welcomed our group warmly and took good care of us. I had the Farmer's Breakfast. It was big and delicious and reasonably priced. I returned a few nights later and enjoyed an excellent dinner. Great place and I'll be returning regularly. read more

So grateful that the Pheasant is nearby! Delicious local ingredients, a fun and interesting bar menu, and perfect ambiance! The owners are incredibly nice and thoughtful. It is the perfect date night, group dinner, or just weeknight meal! Definitely visit! read more

Met with very friendly wait staff. Cocktails and bread to start were all great. Brown bread is a unique and flavorful way to start a meal. All dishes were good but the star of the show had to be the Clam Pasta. Flavorful and fresh - would recommend to all. read more

This restaurant is such an amazing find! I loved the personalized attention and friendly service! The food was absolutely delicious - you must try the mushroom skewers! So tasty! Our cocktails were also amazing! We tried the special sangria and it was so refreshing! When I come back to visit The Cape, I will definitely want to go again! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience! read more

We are visiting the Cape this week for the 4th of July. Although we are staying a good 25 minutes away, friends recommended that we make reservations at the Pheasant in Dennis for Friday night. More than worth the drive! A rustic setting in a beautifully appointed old farm house. The food was out of this world. Delicious and creative with very fresh ingredients. A lot of thought and care obviously went into the menu. We shared the chicken meatballs and tasty scallop appetizers. Superb brick chicken and hanger steak. Although the dessert menu looked incredible, we had no room for dessert given the very generous portions. The owners are a young couple, one of whom greeted us warmly when we arrived and came by to check on us during the evening. The other owner also stopped by our table. A very warm and friendly vibe. A perfect evening. Strongly recommend. Loved it! read more

Had a wonderful meal here last year while on The Cape (we're from NYC area and dine regularly at excellent restaurants such as Jean Georges, Le Bernardin, etc.) and this summer The Pheasant was again fantastic. An appetizer of grilled squid with lemon and mint was perfect, a salad of local micro-greens, artisanal cheese, and seasonal fruits was lovely, and service was attentive and sweet without being intrusive. We noticed the host / hostess (probably the owners) were constantly on the floor checking everything. Great wine list, btw. Our entrées were very exciting, including a perfectly poached striped bass filet with fingerlings, pancetta, and a light, delicately herbed sauce, and a monkfish ragout with ethereal gnocchi, tomato, and shallot. The desserts were equally delicious, especially a perfectly airy bombolini with blueberry filling and a light custard. Cannot wait to go back! read more

Amazing experience! The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the owner was approachable and engaging. The time put into the dishes is obvious, the quality of the ingredients used are worthy as well as innovative. It is truly wonderful to have the Pheasant given new life and to have such passion put into it. It shows in every aspect! read more

The farm-to-table / pier-to-plate movement on Cape Cod continues to draw talent from other culinary capitals. The Pheasant is a reincarnation of a decades-old, couple-run French staple, and the new owners bring a Brooklyn touch to authentic New England fare. We were graciously greeted on our first visit (in December 2018) by co-owner Adam Dunn, a longtime summer resident of the Cape now here full-time with his wife Erica and family. The delectable Boston Brown Bread, the signature cocktails, and the converted barn ambience all stand out. They've done a particularly good job renovating the bar area. We'll be back for the Highbush Collins (vodka, blueberry-freshly ground lavender shrub, lemon, pineapple and soda water) and the scallops crude (on the half shell with fresh cranberries, pepito/pumpkin seed, lemon, extra virgin olive oil and sea salt). Seafood infuses the menu, most notably paired with pastas. And with sustainability at its core, all of executive chef Toby Hill's seafood on the menu is wild caught, seasonal, and landed in local New England waters. Those in your group who prefer their proteins land-based also have plenty of options. We're very much looking forward to seeing how this young restaurant is inspired by Spring and Summer menus in the coming months of their first year. read more

Very good food, upscale but comfortable vibe, friendly service. Best item on the menu from our visit was the bluefish pate. Fish special close to spectacular. Hanger steak was cooked fine but it was a little tough to chew (might have been the cut) and I wasn't a huge fan of the broccoli rabe but it was still enjoyable. Cocktail service was a little slow. Overall enjoyed it although just a tad overpriced. If you're looking for a date night mid Cape this is a nice place for it. I would give this 3 1/2 stars rather than 4 if that were an option. read more

Very friendly, great environment. Lovely local ingredients! Half price oysters are amazing

16 for brunch, 5 had egg Benedict all 5 sent back as they were cold. Mine was sent back three times, first for being cold, second time one egg over cooked the other under cooked, third time undercooked did not try a fourth time. I live two miles away and will not return or recommend. The owner and staff did not seem that concerned. read more

Every time I go am amazed by the delicious food and drinks. There are so many things On the menu, it's so hard to choose. I can't wait to go back and try brunch next. read more

Oysters were good. Everything else, less than average. Upon complaint of the wine, the manager gave me a lecture about wine sediment and told me to "google it". Never going back. read more

Hungry and thirsty beware! This restaurant forgoes many safe sanitation practices. My husband and I were eager to try the revamped Pheasant formerly the Red Pheasant which has been re-established from a Brooklyn couple. From our brief experience on the evening we attended I could tell the owner is not overly obsessed with hospitality, appearance or ambiance. When we arrived the owner was just hanging around not looking very interested. The décor is messy and unorganized and the restaurant smelled foul. The female bartender working the night my husband and I attended was crass and rough around the edges not the exact inviting feeling we were hoping for. I also heard that the bartender was a mixologist. They did have several small bitter bottles on the bar, however having these bottles does not make for a mixologist. We ordered two martinis which we managed to only have three sips. The bartender was dropping olives on the dirty bar and putting them into glasses. Also, at one point a cook came from the kitchen to the bar and dunked their plastic drinking cup directly into the ice bin. It was at this point that we got up from the bar and left. It has been a few days and my husband and I haven't gotten sick so we luckily escaped this germ infested establishment. This was our experience just in the few moments we were at the bar which makes me wonder what food prep, storage and cleaning management are practiced in the back of the house. Thank goodness this area of the Cape has many fine quality restaurants serving up delicious interesting food and cocktails. read more

Tried The Pheasant for the first time last night and I was impressed. Blake was our waiter and he was very helpful. The Maitre D' who I think was the owner was attentive too. We had the scallops wrapped in bacon-wow, pork shank which even better. We wanted the mussel app but they ran out so we went with the rutabaga app which I was Luke warm about until it came. Delicious. A top notch dining experience read more

My wife and I attended a class on oysters here last winter, but didn't get a chance to return for dinner until this last Friday. The restaurant was sold to a young couple two summers ago, and they transitioned it from a dated but venerable Cape institution to a modern and hip restaurant. The place has a great vibe, with a nice bar area and dining room. The ingredients for the menu are all sourced locally, and everything was fresh and clean. We started with oysters and a great smoked bluefish pâté, and I had an outstanding special of halibut with a sweet potato puree. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. My wife said this was one of her top two dinners on the Cape, which given our predilection toward dining out, is no small honor. I think the new owners came from Brooklyn, and everything they did seems to be working together to make a great dining experience. The Cape is full of dated seafood restaurants and clam shacks that offer little exciting of new in cuisine. The Pheasant was a breath of fresh air in Cape Cod dining. read more

This is, by far, the best new restaurant on Cape Cod, and is in contention to be the best restaurant on Cod Cod overall in time. If I could give an extra star, I would, as the food surpasses my other 5 star restaurant reviews by at least that. The skewered stuffed squid was flavorful and unique. The sliced scallop appetizer had a flavorful and artistic presentation. Then came the entrees. And we can't stop discussing them. The pork schnitzel with dill yogurt and various marinated mushrooms was a terrific combination, and a significant portion. A special was the striped bass collar with zhug and middle eastern bread crumb accompaniment, charred with a rub, so tender and flavorful. Service was very good, knowledgeable and not intrusive. This new restaurant is in its infancy and the strides the owners have made in cleaning up the old space, creating their menu and finding the right professionals to assist them give us great optimism that this new "Pheasant" will have its own long run as a premiere dining destination. read more

If dining at The Pheasant were only about the food, I would have given 4 stars. However, the dining experience for us only rates 2 stars, so I've averaged it out to 3. Although the restaurant was less than half full, we were seated at a small table along a wall that was back to back with the adjacent table while more spacious seating was left vacant. We were asked when we arrived if we were celebrating any special occasion. As it happened, it was my birthday and we indicated that. We weren't anticipating any particular special service but the question suggested that something might be in store for me! Nothing was! Not even a special chocolate mint at the end of the dinner. Even the basic condiments of salt and pepper were missing from all the tables. As for service, we were left at our small table for a good 10 minutes before even being approached by a server. The complimentary Boston brown bread, rather than being offered to us almost immediately as we've experienced in most restaurants, didn't arrive until after we had ordered our starter. That took some time in coming and then we ordered our dinner, which also took some time. Bottom line: food was good, experience was lacking. Not worth the trip up 6A for us from Orleans. Too many other fine restaurants along the way. And we loved the old Red Pheasant. Janet read more

My friend and I went to The Pheasant after the movie at Cape Cod Cinema. We sat at a high-top in the cozy bar area, as we did not have reservations. We were welcomed by the owner who returned to our table several times during our delicious meal. He, and every staff person were very attentive, ensuring that all requests were met, and our selections were to our liking. We started with a perfectly dressed salad that had some very tasty croutons. The serving was ample for sharing. I had the clam pasta which was so delicious. The pappardelle was perfectly prepared and tasty. The clams were fresh tasting and beautifully seasoned, and the guanciale was delightfully crispy. All the flavors blended beautifully. My friend had the pork shank that was served over a potato, apple combination, in a rich and delicious sauce. The pork was so tender and flavorful. Our dinner ended with a shared dessert of house made zeppoli. This was a stunner! The zeppoli were light and fluffy, and had a delicious center made with ricotta. Accenting the lovely dessert were two dipping choices--one made with cream cheese, and the other one was a wonderful tasting apple butter. We had a dining experience that was so enjoyable and satisfying! We will definitely be back to this gem of a restaurant! read more
