And no, I didn't start it. Nearly every day, the seated leg press machine is constantly in use. There is only one machine of this exact kind, and it's a popular machine. I have to wait more than 1/2 hour for it sometimes. This includes waiting for people scrolling their phones, talking to their friends, etc. So when I finally do get to use it, I'd appreciate it if I didn't have a club member in his undershirt staring me in the face. When I told him to move away, he resorted to a series of insults that were reported to management. I really don't know what his psychiatric situation is or how long he's been a member. No one should have to tolerate this, and it should not be dignified as "two reasonable adults." He's clearly used to getting his own way. he was sneering the rest of the time he was there, occupying said machine for a long time. If I'm spoken to like this again, it will be a police matter. Nor should your desk or housekeeping staff have to tolerate anything like this. Thank you.

I exercise at the local YMCA 3-4 times a week and go to hot yoga classes at least three times a week in addition to running and biking every chance I get....With all that said, NONE of this prepared me for what I experienced when I met Brian and walked into Techny Fitness! I was naively skeptical that Brian could teach this aging old dog new tricks. But Brian is a fitness guru and has showed me exercises I never knew existed. I've worked muscles I never knew I had. After five sessions at Techny Fitness I feel like I've accomplished more than five months solo at the YMCA. He's always got a new piece of equipment to show me or a new routine that completely blows my mind and exhausts my body. Brian has over ten years experience as a personal trainer, and has an endless wealth of knowledge when it comes the human anatomy, diet and of course training the body. The facility is located in a racket ball court with forty foot ceilings in a cool, dry basement. Well lit, always clean, perfect conditions for a big dude like myself who sweats constantly during rigorous workouts. I love his circuit style of training. He isolates muscles at times and completely mixes it up other times. He has taught me the key to seeing results is confusing the body and not letting it get used to a routine of always doing the same things. He trains men and woman ten years younger than me and also folks who are 10-20 years older than me. Each person is different and I see that he takes the time to understand each individuals goals and caters the exercise routine accordingly. It's small enough that clients receive personal attention/help during group circuit training. The guidance and tips from trainers Goran & Mia absolutely improved my somewhat marginal positioning during various exercises. And they constantly watch out for people so they don't overdo. But be clear, if they know you can do a few more reps, they will cheer you on to squeeze a few more in. Goran says once it starts to feel like you are getting tired from the reps, try to do 5 more because those last 5 are the ones that really count to tax your muscles so they will strengthen. Everyone is encouraging and kind and truly wants to see you improve and get stronger. And in my first several weeks of going (1 hr 3x week), I meet some wonderful people who have been going to Premier Fitness for many years, even decades! That should tell you something right there!

My friend invited me to brunch at Midtown Athletic Club (they are a member). The public can't just…read morewalk in, there are gates in the lobby and I had to scan a code (and fill out my info) before entering. I visited Midtown before as a prospective member so I know that guests can only enter a limited number of times. We went upstairs past the cardio machines (they are plentiful) and the weight area to the cafe. There are tables and booths that overlook the outdoor pool area (closed for season). It wasn't a large brunch but we had some made-to-order omelets, bacon/sausage and fruit. There was also some potatoes and pastry. When I sat down to eat I received a text from Midtown about a membership. The brunch was bottomless although one omelet was enough for me. I also had two emails from Midtown when I got home, one a waiver of liability and the other a membership offer. I didn't join as a member on my previous visit and I am not going to join now. I already have a Pilates membership that includes three studios with classes from 6am-8pm. Midtown has a Pilates studio but none of the class times work for me. They also have some reformers in the middle of the cardio area reserved for private lessons. If I have a private lesson I would prefer to be in a secluded area, not in the middle for all to see. The facility has many machines, a boxing area, a cycling studio, a theatre, a spa, a cafe, courts, pool, etc and this is a great place for those who need this. There are families who spend the morning at lessons, classes, workouts, then join up in the cafe. This is great for those who are looking for this but it doesn't fit my needs right now.

I reached out to all the local park districts and found their facilities supervisor, Shawn, to be by far the most responsive and very easy to work with. I paid for the bday party before event seeing the space, but was so impressed with the beautiful gym, track and party room when we got there. They also have a workout room that looks pretty nice. It ended up being the perfect spot for our party and I wouldn't hesitate to book it again in the future. I even suggested it to a friend planning a basketball themed bar-mitzvah, but unfortunately they don't allow alcohol in the space. I've been back recently with my son for basketball open gym since it's one of the few local gyms currently offering times. Thanks to the pickleball craze it's becoming harder to find open gym time for basketball, but they have it here at TPAC and the times (located online) are pretty convenient.
