Do not recommend this pure barre at all. So uptight and unaccommodating. Do not even think about coming to this class 1 minute late. Go early or you are not allowed in. I've seen people walk in late to other pure barre locations during my classes and never felt offended or disrupted. It's the patrons loss for missing out on 2 minutes of class. I get it - this is your strict location's policy - but this is a workout class - it's about moving with people & having fun! It's not that serious. I'm a new mom & just moved to the suburbs. I signed up for the morning class since there's only 1 am class time! I tried to explain I was trying to find parking and the location since it was my first time there. I walked in left out of the parking garage instead of right. So I was two minutes late and not allowed in. I didn't get half of that in bc i was so strongly and seriously cut off & dismissed. Ok no problem, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Women need to better supporting women! I'm a new mom with no family to help & I only have 1 day off work to get out of the house & do something fun for ME! Thanks for suggesting I come to the later class - I don't have that freedom & have to pick my kid up. I'm so happy it's a gorgeous sunny day to spend outside and live a little. It's been exactly one year since I joined PBG and I have been so happy that I continued my membership despite quarantine! When I first joined, I wasn't overly sure that barre was for me, particularly since I was someone who was used to higher impact workouts and am extremely inflexible. After the first class, I was still honestly unsure if I wanted to continue, but stuck it out a week, then a few weeks, and here I am at a year and over 100 classes! First, I want to say that the instructors and staff have all been extremely positive, friendly, and helpful since I started. Like I mentioned, I am pretty inflexible, so adjustments to form and modifications are always helpful. During the in studio classes, I always felt that I was getting proper attention and motivation (even though it was SO hard)! Since we've been quarantining, I feel like the staff has really accommodated our ever changing environment to the better. Working downtown before did not allow me to take as many classes as I wanted, but now we're in a completely different environment. The PBG team quickly acted and created a Facebook group where they host (and save) live classes, which have been the highlight of most of my days usually spent glued to a desk and computer at home. Somehow, the instructors still manage to be just as motivating and personal on screen; they often call out cues and names when we need it most! Also, when the weather was nice, they hosted socially distanced outdoor classes, which were just as difficult and motivating as in studio! To me, the team seems extremely resilient to our changing conditions. They keep things exciting with challenges (which have been free for members, different from other places I've tried!), virtual events, partner events, and the ever constant updates on how things are going. I've been to many exercise studios and gyms in my long lifetime, and Pure Barre Glenview ranks among the top. The manager Amy is incredibly welcoming and instructive. There are adults of many decades and fitness levels participating. The studio is exceptionally clean and relaxing. The equipment for class is in great shape. There are classes at many suitable timeframes, and parking is great--either right outside or in an adjacent garage. Every time I have gone, it was easy to start talking to regulars and new clients-everyone is very nice. Whether you can do all of the exercises, or just do some, you WILL feel new muscles and strength after each visit. I have a background in weight training, spin, and yoga--this hits all new places. Great classes. Nice instructors. As someone with serious back injuries (L4/L5 discs) it's critical to work out at a studio with knowledgeable teachers. This studio is incredible. Tried Pure Barre through my Classpass membership while I was in town for the holidays visiting family. The Facilities Actually, this is where I knocked them down a star. They have a welcoming front area with places to put your shoes and a small coat rack (not a lot of space for heavy winter jackets!) that leads into the studio. The studio is carpeted, like some other barre studios that require you to wear grippy socks. They provide water bottles for $1 - ridiculous, since they are neither brand name waters and are the half-size water bottles. In a studio this nice, I would expect full-size water to be on sale and have never seen a studio sell a half-size for that price. The bathroom was okay, but leads directly off the studio room and is the only source of water in the place. That really killed the vibe for me! For a place that charges a pretty steep price of over $20 per class, I would expect a water fountain or water cooler to fill my bottle, without needing to use a bathroom faucet. The bathroom is also labeled Purre Potty... is this an exercise studio or a daycare? Other than that, the equipment is new and great and the studio was very big, with plenty of spaces to spread out. There are mirrors at the front and it is easier to see yourself in the front of the studio. It is easier to see the instructor who usually stayed at the front to demo the exercises if you are at the back (though you'll have to turn around to see the instructor). They had cubbies for putting your personal items during class. No option to rent or borrow grippy socks if you don't bring your own. The Class I tried their "Pure Reform" class which was different from Barre classes I've tried (Barre 3, Bar Method, Dailey Method, SALT Fitness). The class incorporates many exercises with sliding discs, weights, and pulling on weighted bands attached to the walls. It was definitely a challenge, even for someone who regularly goes to barre classes a few times a week. I discovered some muscles I hadn't used in awhile and definitely worked my core a significant amount during the 50 minute class. My core was sore for a few days! Overall, the instructor did a good job of giving me a tour at the beginning of class, explaining the equipment, checking on me throughout class and asking for my opinion after class. She kept up great energy throughout that was encouraging without being pushy, reminding everyone to do what was possible for their body and take a break/make an adjustment as needed. The studio also followed up after the class to send me details about their other intro offers for clients. Overall, I would definitely try this great workout again if I was in the area and would love to try their more traditional barre workout as well. Thanks, Pure Barre! read more

I stopped by Pure Barre on Monday for my first class. I usually like going to yoga classes but I wanted to try something new. I registered and signed up for the class online and used the Free Week deal available for first time students. The instructors were super friendly and walked me through everything I needed to know before the class including what equipment I needed to grab, terms I needed to know and where the locker room area was. I also purchased some "sticky socks" at the front desk while checking in. Socks are required for class! The studio is carpeted and mirrored and has an intimate feeling when the class is full but you do not feel like you are on top of each other - classes cap at 20 people so it's recommended you register for classes online through their website. The classes are 55 minutes long and are pretty fast-paced. Every class is a little different but they all include a warm-up, arms, legs, abs and a cool-down. The workout is low impact and focuses on isometric movements that are suppose to tone and strengthen muscles without adding bulk. The class had some really upbeat music that changed throughout class. At points in class when I wasn't quiet sure what I was suppose to be doing, the instructor came by and helped me correct my form. You will definitely feel the burn during Pure Barre classes and be sore afterwards but don't worry, they are very friendly towards new students. I'll definitely be back from time-to-time to spice up my workouts. read more

Wow. I am hooked!! I can already see a big difference in my body and I'm only 20 classes in. When I started my $99 unlimited classes introductory month I felt welcome and supported by an incredible group of women from day 1. The owner, Denise, and her instructors - Cassandra, Liz, Denise, Danie and Sara...each of them knew my name from the moment I entered the studio. Every class is challenging and I would recommend this studio and its classes to anyone who wants to improve their core strength, sweat and burn some calories, and tone and tighten their body overall. My sister has been telling me to try a barre workout for quite some time now, and I've always admired her for being an avid dancer and having a great figure. I made an impromptu visit to this Pure Barre location and felt comfortable from the beginning after talking to the instructor who was bubbly and talkative. She was more than willing to give me an introduction on what the class consists of and what moves are most important. I felt excited and comfortable as I waited to begin my first class. The other group members are very friendly and made me feel at home. The workout is intense and the instructor was descriptive in what each move would consist of. The small but effective movements were so intense that I could feel all of my muscles burning and developing new strength capabilities. Though this is not a sweat it all out class where you're left out of breath and exhausted, it is the type of workout that lengthens, strengthens, and activates muscles in your body that you didn't know existed. I understand why barre workouts are so effective now. The core workout at the end was more than enough to keep my abs activated and working hard. I really appreciated the upbeat dance music, cleanliness of the studio, attentiveness of the instructor, and the regimented structure of the class. The nice personal touch was the handwritten postcard I received a few days later thanking me for trying Pure Barre and including a coupon for discounts off their products. read more

Was literally 1 min late and they wouldn't let me in due to a "safety issue." Given how many barre classes I've taken in the Bay Area and have never seen someone turned away for being late, this is total BS. Even after explaining that I was visiting from out of town and just took a $10 Lyft (that kept going the wrong way, hence making me late) to take the class, they wouldn't budge. It wasn't even noted on their page in the ClassPass app that they don't allow anyone in after class starts (the few studios that have this policy at least note it on their page). Instructors don't have training, they hire current clients to become instructors without getting the proper training. I've been to so many different pure barre studios and you can feel you had a great workout. However after a workout here it barely makes a difference and they tend to do the same 3 exercises for each area EVERY time. Get trained instructors!!!! read more

I have tried a lot of diets and exercise (yoga, running and a personal trainer) and I have not had the results I am having with taking Pure Barre classes in Glenview and intermittent fasting. I have only taken 15 classes but I can already see the results in my clothes. You have to try these classes. The instructors are all great and so are the other staff. Nothing but kind helpful people. I have taken a handful of classes at this studio in the past and had mixed feelings about it. When a tempting Groupon came up again I decided to give them another chance. Turned out I was not eligible to use the Groupon since I had purchased one in the past and even though the 'fine print' did not spell out that previous Groupon purchasers are not allowed to buy it again, the studio refused to honor it. They did, however, offer to convert it to an unlimited month which worked out for my needs even better. This time around I am more pleased with the schedule, the instructors and the overall experience at the studio. I would recommend it. read more
