A month ago, I bought a Groupon for treats from The Perfect Scoop. I have three vouchers to use and decided to drive over to Port Perry on a warm, mid-September Saturday.
This store is on Water Street, in the heart of downtown Port Perry, which has a ton of restaurants and cafes. There is street parking, but I didn't find any spots. Instead, I parked in a free public parking lot next to the CIBC and walked over.
There are some tables and seats outside this cute frozen dessert place. There was one table with chairs inside after I walked in.
It felt like heaven in here. I looked at all the ice cream flavours. Everything looked so good. This place offers sugar-free and vegan options, which was great.
My eyes went over to the gelato (dairy) and sorbetto (dairy-free) selections. My two favourite flavours, creamsicle gelato and dole whip sorbetto, were next to each other. OMG!
The nice man behind the counter helped me out. I showed him my Groupon and he found me in the system. I asked him about the gelato and sorbetto. I went with a scoop each of the creamsicle gelato and pineapple dole whip sorbetto.
My order was over $5, which was more than my Groupon. I simply paid the difference. I paid using cash. Debit and credit cards are also accepted.
He was helpful and friendly, asking me where I was from. The drive from Markham to Port Perry isn't all that far. I think it took me 40 minutes and I wasn't gunning it. He wanted folks to learn about Port Perry. In my books, his goal succeeded with me!
I decided to walk around Palmer Park across the street and managed to sit down to eat my dessert. The dole whip is so refreshing and good. There were tiny bits of pineapple in each creamy spoonful. So good!
I loved the creamsicle. It was so creamy and the orange flavour was perfect. There were also little candy bits on top, which I enjoyed.
I can't wait to try more flavours. There were eight different sorbetto flavours. I want more!
My industrial arts (a.k.a. shop) teacher from grades 7 and 8 retired in Port Perry. I can see why. Should I retire in Port Perry (I serious can see that happening after this day trip), I'd be at The Perfect Scoop often. The gelato and sorbetto were perfection.
