Port Perry has evolved and become a very touristy area and a popular spot for filming movies. Piano Cafe has been here for a long time and has many seats spread out in multiple rooms and a back patio. Decor and ambiance stays true to the historic roots and the food is handmade and wonderful. My wife had the salad and I had French onion soup with a bacon and ham sandwich. The bread that the sandwich was served on was so good. It was warm and very tasty, I was so impressed. Service was very friendly, and the fact that they had names of famous movie stars who ate there on the menu shows the popularity of this place. Great option if you are visiting the area. read more

This is another favourite of the locals as well as tourists. As in a previous review port perry is a small town with a popular waterfront park as well as a tourist shopping Mecca for mostly women. Don't worry guys there is a local brewery/pup 2 min walk from Queen str. Yes there are movies done in town as well. Hallmark channel is just one. The piano cafe is a lunch only spot. Excellent menu, friendly staff and owner. You will love the ambiance from past times kept in excellent condition. A little know fact they also have hotel suites upstairs if you wish to stay overnight. If you are in town on a Friday, come for grilled cheese sandwiches (lots of different types) again only on Fridays. read more

"Fridays are definitely our best day" said our server. Grilled Cheese Fridays, what a great idea! We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I couldn't get a picture before we had all tried our sandwiches. "Too hot!" We said and yet rapidly took the next bite of the oozing grilled cheese. "The chicken on my wrap is still hot like it has just been cooked" We don't normally get dessert, but there were such great choices that beckoned. The Piano Cafe is a restaurant that was consistently recommend every time I looked up places to eat in Port Perry. It's a cute cafe with lots of natural lighting and felt cozy even though the tables were fairly spaced out. Food 4/5 The menu is fairly straightforward and the cafe serves variations of grilled cheese, salads, quiches and a few more items. They only had 2 lobster items left so we decide to try the Lobster Grilled Cheese, Lobster Mac & Cheese, Pear and Brie and Bacon & Triple White. I had the lobster grilled cheese and loved the savoury flavour from the cheese and a hint of sweetness from some type of jammy ingredient in the middle. The lobster pieces were fairly soft but still provided a bite to the sandwich. The red pepper soup served with the sandwich was a great compliment. Service 4/5 We visited as a group of four and despite half the party being 45 minutes late, the staff were so understanding. The staff were friendly, always ready to assist and took very good care of us despite it being busy. Overall I would visit the Piano Cafe again. All the food options sound delicious and makes me want to try everything. read more

To be fair, my visit to the Piano cafe was a year ago. Piano Cafe was very busy the day I visited with a group of about 11. We were seated in a separate room at the back, which was fine because we could actually hear each other speak.. The menu was quite decent with plenty of choice and also a nice selection of cocktails. I chose a Cucumber Gin, which was refreshing and delicious. Sandwiches, salads, and desserts are the main focus but there are other choices as well. Several in my party ordered Baked French Onion soup. One of the group, a true French onion soup afficionado, disappointedly started that the soup wasn't a true "baked" version, but had only been in the oven long enough to give a good melt to the cheese. I admit, however, that I was quite happy with mine. Several of us ordered the Lobster and Crab Mac and Cheese, including the lady who sat across from me and a gentleman who sat at the end of our long table. I watched both fork huge chunks of lobster from their ramekins, so I was very much looking forward to mine. I always eat my soup first and was still doing so when our server came by to ask how everything was. I made the point that I hadn't yet tasted my Lobster Mac and Cheese. She did not return until she collected the dishes.. The Lobster and Crab Mac and Cheese was definitely cheesy, no complaint there. Unfortunately, mine contained one piece of fake crab and not a single piece, or even a visible shred, of lobster. I persevered, optimistically hoping a piece of lobster would appear before I reached the end, but...no such luck. In fact, other members of my party noticed and commented on that. I did mention it to our server when she collected the dishes. Nothing came of it so when it came time to pay I asked if she had brought it up. I was told that it was all mixed together before being placed in the ramekins and should have been evenly distributed. I reiterated that it was not. It was quite obvious to the people beside and across from me that there was no lobster in my dish, but that was the end of it. Not sure whether I would return, even though there were a number of items on the menu that I'd be interested in trying. However, I love lobster, and when a dish that is supposed to contain it, doesn't, you are paying a premium price for that, and nothing whatsoever is done to acknowledge or address that, it does not leave a good impression. I did leave a review elsewhere afterwards, and this was the unhelpful and untrue reply "Thank you for the beautiful descriptions of the groups lunch. The cucumber gin is always a favorite. We are sooo happy the group loved the lobster mac. When we did a table check with the group everyone was fine, if you had of let us know we would have lobstered up your mac without hesitation." In fact, i DID let them know and nothing whatsoever was done. I also called afterwards, hoping to discuss the situation, but never received a return call. That pretty much tells me that they would never want to admit to a mistake. read more

Came to port perry for the long weekend and came across this charming little cafe. I find this place warm, cozy and inviting. Owner and all the staff is super nice and friendly. Food here is simple. Wraps, sandwiches, soups, salad. Typical cafe food, but very fresh and done very well. Keep up the good work! read more

Wandering around Port Perry, I decided to stop in at the Piano Cafe, as the board outside showed a lunch of Red Pepper soup and a quiche combo, which sounded perfect. They've set the tables up with lots of space between them as per current rules. The soup was very flaverful as was the quiche. So good, that I ordered a dessert, (which I never do at lunch) - rhubarb pie! Wonderful! The owner, Christy, and the staff were really friendly and very accommodating. Had the Mac and cheese with meat and it was delicious with a fantastic Chai Latté. The Mac & cheese was Creamy and cheesy... awesome comfort food. Last, I can't rave enough about the chai Latte. The Piano Café is a mix of good and bad. The sandwich (Snakebite) I had was good, but the accompanying salad was bland. The ice tea was actually just Nestea with some berries and lemons in it. This might be okay if the price was reasonable, but the sandwich with salad was $14 and the tea was just under $4. That's ridiculous. I also don't understand why so many restaurants in Canada don't make their own ice tea. In the U.S. it's usually made in house and it's $2 or less with free refills. Canadians don't seem to like to give free refills. Oh, well... The servers were friendly, and the atmosphere is pretty good, but it's not a good value in any sense of the word. read more

My favourite lunch spot in Port Perry. I eat at my desk a lot so their online menu is a great option for ordering takeout. It's a busy place but they always have my food ready when I arrive to pick it up, usually within 15 minutes at the latest. Staff is very friendly and the owner Christy is incredibly welcoming. Terrible. Chicken that is used in wraps and salads is the cheap grocery store stuff. French Onion soup was just broth with pieces of bread with a few crumbs of cheddar cheese. Pictures on menu misrepresent the food that is served. Prices far exceeded the quality of food. Would of done better going to a fast food place or one of the pubs in Port Perry! read more
