TL;DR: Go for the Chicken Dip and Au Jus, Beer list, Atmosphere, and Mezcal WOW! The chicken dip is the best and I 100% recommend you try it for yourself. It is very moist and the au jus added a TON of flavor! The draft beer selection is different and fun. The steak frites were a touch underwhelming sadly and the Oreo dessert was good, but tasted a little freezer burnt. Nonetheless, I would (and have) gone back for that darn chicken dip! The atmosphere is great. Going to the apps - the Brussels sprouts and corn bread are the front runners and easy to split with the table. Also the beer beef short ribs are also yummy. Lastly, their mezcal drink is really yummy and has a smokey punch to the face. I can't wait to go back! read more

The service is really good. Food is prepared pretty quickly. We tried the BACON & POTATO CROQUETTES, which were flavorful. My entree was the chicken and mashed potatoes, which was delicious. The gravy it comes with is sooo good. I just wish they gave more gravy on the plate but chicken was filled with flavor. The Brussel Sprouts were so good! Definitely will come back. read more

You come here for the space. It's chic modern and my pics won't really capture the vibe. Trust me it's cool. They also have a side patio with exposed brick and Ivy. They also have these small statues on a pedestal - again nice decor. The food is good not great but not bad. The Cheese curds was good if a little greasy. The steak was medium pink but just like the salmon was a a touch dry. Standouts was the cosmo looking Sangria - crisp refreshing not too sweet. The Veggies we're grilled to perfection. And the prime rib melted in your mouth - excellent. P.S this is located in the heart of Division St restaurant row with outdoor seating and just walking here feels bougie/cosmopolitan? read more

Ambiance: 5/5 crazy high ceilings and a cool elevated deck indoors which is where we sat. Service: 3/5 server was nice, but took over 15 minutes to flag them down, to the point that one of us got up from the table to go get them - someone had ordered a meal and asked the meat be removed bc they're vegetarian and what was brought to us had included the meat after all and we were wanting to get that fixed. They did kindly take something off our bill for the trouble. Food: 5/5 for what it is, this is super large portions, very hearty, nothing overly complex but quite delicious. I got the eggs benedict and it was phenomenal - I will say that I'm a crispy hashbrown girl, but this was more like a hashbrown casserole - very soft and creamy inside. But these heat up well in an airfryer because I'd be shocked if you could finish the whole plate. Definitely great food for the price so a good casual brunch option - I'll be back : ) read more

I was excited to last minute try this spot with my parents for lunch. It was quite crowded, and our service was kind of careless as a result. I wanted to order a flight and try a selection of beers, but so many were out and it was only 1pm! We ordered the cheese curds, ribs, Brussels salad, croquettes, and lobster deviled eggs. The croquettes were bland and not worth ordering. The ribs barely had any meat on them. The cheese curds were the best dish. Service was definitely not the best- you could tell they were understaffed as I had to flag down other wait staff to get utensils, napkins, etc. Our food also took a while. The place is really nicely decorated though, and I wouldn't mind trying the other dishes and cocktails. read more

Had an absolutely wonderful brunch here this morning with my friend and my pup, Paco. Food is excellent and service is even better! Our server, Zach, was attentive and delightful. And I loved how kind everyone was to Paco- who also enjoyed his Scruffy Scramble! Highly recommend the wood-fired artichokes and the Wicker Park omelette. Their enclosed patio is so tranquil. Food was fantastic - surprisingly good. Service was enthusiastic. Creative options and all well done. We will be back!

The management and hospitality of this establishment is horrendous. Managers are rude amd ask guests to leave for no valid reason. Yelling at them, and attempting to use their "authority" to demean and belittle people. read more

Love this place, BUT, they discontinued my very, very favorite dish---the grilled artichokes! PLEASE bring them back, which is why I deducted a star! The last two weeks my eggs have been severely undercooked--- writhing three minutes of ordering the plates were out. I ordered the egg tostadas--- the eggs were barely cooked with the albumins still clear---I should have sent it back---had terrible stomach problems! It happened again yesterday, but it was the egg sandwich , so I couldn't see the cook on the eggs. Very sick night again. I think the cooks want to get the orders out ASAP and are undercooking the eggs! read more

Was able to get last minute reservations for a Saturday dinner. I've always passed by but finally got the chance to check this spot out. It is much bigger than I thought. Super chic inside with a heated, covered beer patio. Service was great and so was the vibe. I had the rose sangria which was cool and refreshing. I had the spinach dip to share and it was YUMMY!!!! I ordered the croquettes for myself and they were also bomb!! Would love to come again as it gets warmer. read more

Beautiful venue. Good service. Food is elevated but casual American. The short rib with mashed potatoes and root veggies was stellar. The meat was perfectly fork tender. Great flavors all around. The steak salad is a good option if you want a lighter bite. The flavors were mostly muted in comparison to the short rib but still a good dish. They brew most of the beers on the list. Lots of options. read more

10/10 service and this restaurant is very kid friendly. Ambience has the right volume level of music playing, and it's quite spacious. Drinks were tasty and the food was portioned and brought out in a timely fashion. Chill atmosphere overall, and the food wasn't out of this world amazing, but wasn't bad either! I would say The Perch is more of your reliable neighborhood joint instead of a place you crave because of the food/drinks. Would recommend checking them out! read more

Y'all ! Came here on a whim because of the heaters and wanting to eat outdoor because of COVID and did not regret for a minute . The patio was really big and warm on a cold night (literally I felt so comfortable and it was 30 degrees and windy) . They were also definitely adhering to social distancing . Everything we got was great - but the highlight was the cheese curds , it was a medley of fried cheese and veggies and when I think I of cheese curds I will not be forever reminded of this place . Also the Oreo ice cream sandwich put all Other desserts I've had to shame . Without a doubt will be back read more

I feel like this is the kind of place where pretty much everything is delicious and you can't order wrong. The limoncello cocktail was soooo good. Our server was great at suggesting a modification for my dietary restriction when we visited for brunch. The Perch was amazing! The food was so so good, especially the corn bread, croquettes, black bean soup and Oreo ice cream sandwich. All the sandwiches and fries looked amazing and my friends confirmed especially with the chicken dip sandwiches. Such a cool vibe inside and a larger restaurant than it looks from the outside. Booths were comfy for 4 and nicely lit. Cocktails were equally as good as the draft beer. Service was very friendly and ensured a seamless dining experience. Living in the neighborhood, I have been to Perch several times and always have a good experience. Knowing this, when family was in town this week, we booked a quick reservation for five at Perch on Thursday evening, as they can get a bit busy. This was a great choice, as the ambiance is always great, the service was excellent, and never have any complaints with the drinks or food. We ordered a variety and all of it was great. We got both the cornbread and Brussels sprouts for apps...highly recommend both. I had the turkey burger, and additionally, salad, frites, and pasta was ordered. Everyone was very happy with their choices and it all tasted wonderful. I also tried the Gatorade powder sour beer they had on their menu, and that was pretty good as well. Highly recommend Perch if you are looking for a great restaurant on Division to stop into to get a bite read more

Holy MOLY this place is a hidden gem. I almost don't want to write this review incase reservations become hard to get...... ...but the people must know. Came to The Perch for the first time this weekend with a small group of friends. Due to COVID restrictions, dining out can be nerve-wracking and also a huge hassle. Do I bring a scarf, gloves, blanket, and a ski mask? Or will my cute, but-not-so-warm sweater suffice? Obviously being a Chicagoan.. I brought out the gloves and scarf just in case, but with the plentiful amount of heaters, The Perch outdoor dining was honestly perfect. Someone in our party was even bringing heaters that weren't by anyone else, closer to our table. This can obviously be extremely annoying for the restaurant, but The Perch employees just came right out and helped us! To start.... the back beer garden is absolutely stunning. Art pieces, statues and paintings that you can buy directly are strewn across the entire patio. Greenery and exposed brick at every corner... I was in absolute awe! And as if the patio décor, warm ambiance, and amazing staff weren't enough... the food here is absolutely insane. We ordered two Blueberry Cornbread Skillets for the table to start (they come with 4 pieces in each).. and let's be honest I could have eaten this dish for my meal. Crispy bits that have been charred up from the edge of the cast iron skillet, savory/buttery pieces of corn mixed with the fresh sweet blueberry bites.... WOW the flavor of this was seriously incredible. The roommate and I are now making it a goal to recreate this dish but I honestly don't think we'll have much luck. For my main course I had the Breakfast Tacos and the cheesy potatoes. I've never been so sad to forget my leftovers because this brunch entre was equally as delightful as the cornbread. You neeed those potatoes in your life I promise. To drink I had both an Aperol Spritz and a mimosa (it's Saturday brunch during a pandemic.. alright?!). I LOVE an Aperol Spritz and I honestly don't find them around Chicago very much. The only thing that The Perch is missing is bottomless mimosas (*cough cough*). But if that's the only negative I could take away from this place.. that says a lot. Definitely going to come back to try their beer flights because I do love options when it comes to my booze :) Overall I 100% recommend anyone to come by and check this place out! It sounds like this place opened in August, and obviously it's not ideal to open during a pandemic but they are doing a great job. read more

Comfortable outdoor space, food came out extremely quickly (maybe 2 minutes) but was only decent, staff masks properly. Cinnamon roll - 2/5. The inside would be better more crunchy to add texture and the cream cheese frosting wasn't thick enough. Skillet Cornbread - 3/5. Corn and Blueberry flavors come through but the dish lacks the melt in your mouth feeling of great skillet cornbreads. There's some crunch but could do with more. Appears to be made with cornmeal, which works. read more

A pleasant surprise with the level of quality, service, and value. I came here for an early dinner with my wife and friends. We were greeted warmly and sat immediately. The server came quickly and explained the menu. He was friendly but totally professional. Took care of things efficiently but never made us feel rushed. Checked in enough and answered a question I had about the building. Just top-notch service that was cool and not overly fussy. The interior is chic and spacious. Beautiful design and comfy seating. The place wasn't too loud and you could really enjoy your time with friends. We stayed for about two hours and felt quite at home. The food was fantastic and the pacing of the meal was perfect. We ordered lobster deviled eggs to start. I'm not a huge fan of deviled eggs, but these were delicious. Nice and mustardy with generous amounts of lobster meat. I ordered a pilsner (brewed on site) and it was a lovely beer. Light and refreshing with the right amount of flavor. The entrees were fantastic. I ordered the roasted chicken with mashed potatoes. I normally avoid roast chicken as I think it's a little boring to order out, but this chicken was absolutely delicious. Tasty skin that wasn't overly herby. Wonderfully juicy meat. The mashed potatoes were a great consistency. Not too rich and full of flavor. Everyone else's dishes looked excellent. I love the versatility of the menu. My wife got a jambalaya (which was great) and my friends got the tuna salad and the burger. The menu really has something for everyone, but it doesn't feel confused or like it's pandering. It's just clearly well thought out and banks on execution of simple dishes. We finished our meal with an Oreo cookie ice cream sandwich that was fabulous. Finally, the value at this restaurant is incredible. You get great portions of delicious food and drink and you will be stunned at the bill in a great way. That's not to say that they are underpriced. However, they deliver on every dollar you spend. Our meal for four people was about $150 with tip. I was expecting around $200. It's a testament to the substance of this restaurant. You won't be disappointed! read more

We sort of happened upon The Perch for a late night dinner reservation. During COVID, it's always interesting to see how social distancing is actually enforced in restaurants. (There are plenty we've left because they don't feel safe.) Thankfully, that was not the case here - they're making it work! We were seated in a large booth with partitions between us and the other booths. I felt spaced out from the other patrons here. Love that they are part of 4 Star Restaurant Group and is connected with Finch Brewing, so you get a two for one experience! I'm a huge fan of Crosby's Kitchen in Lakeview. If you are, too, you'll see some familiar favorites on the menu. I love the Wrightwood Salad, so that's what I had for dinner. The rotisserie chicken is so good! We also tried the skillet cornbread, croquettes (my fave!), and the lobster deviled eggs. All were delicious! Our server, a mature gentleman with fun glasses, was excellent! Wish I would've caught his name. The beer selection was good, with the winter warmer being my pick of the options. You can get a taster, half pour, or big pour. Basically, BYO flight! Parking can be a bit tricky, but I parked directly across the street in the front spot (perpendicular to the restaurant) in a magical open spot. With all the snow I'm not 100% sure it was a real spot, but as far as I could tell it was. If you go and are a bit early, plan on leaving and coming back as there isn't really a waiting area. We popped over to Black Hole (WAY too crowded) and Sea & Olive (good at the bar) to have a drink before dinner. Looking forward to visiting again in warmer weather. read more

Was actually a little disappointed. The vibe is very cool like upscale farmhouse meets gastropub. We made a reservation which I would highly recommend since it was very busy. Sat us right away but it went a bit down hill from there. Our water glasses were covered in food and when we asked for clean glasses the waiter basically gaslit us saying that it wasn't food it was just how the glasses are. When we physically scrapped the food off the glasses he finally agreed to take them back. He basically avoided us the rest of the night. The food itself is just average and a bit overpriced in my opinion. Everything was fine but nothing I'd want to go back for. 3.5 We ordered: 1. Iron Skillet Blueberry Cornbread 2. Guacamole - avocado, jalapeño, onion, tomato, warm tortilla chips 3. Breakfast Tacos - tinga chicken, pickled red onion, avocado, chipotle crema, scrambled eggs 4. Prime Rib Hash - prime rib, poached eggs, bell pepper, ranch beans, onion, confit potato, horseradish hollandaise Guacamole tasted fresh but was bland. Similar to breakfast tacos, chicken was tender, eggs had good texture BUT bland even with the chipotle cream. I liked the blueberry cornbread. Moist inside with tasty crust. Prime Rib Hash was a delicious mixture of it's ingredients but I think they skimp on the meat and potatoes. Service was good. I liked clean, spacious interior design. I would still come back to try the main menu items. read more

Went for Sunday brunch and had an excellent experience. Sever was new but did a solid job. Patio was a vibe and plenty of seating options outside. Overall the food was above average but we LOVED the selection available on the doggie menu. Multiple options served warm in a cute little bowl, we loved it. For my entree I got the biscuits & gravy, egg, and side of hashbrowns. Taste was on point, biscuits moist with a nice exterior, gravy thick with chunks of sausage. Sausage they use is over spiced a bit and def the main flavor of the gravy. Also didn't get enough gravy but really no biggie. Wife enjoyed the wicker park omelette, pretty standard. Got my dog some kind of scrambled egg, spinach, chicken bowl. She devoured it. Would highly reccomend if you'd like some nice patio action with the pup, otherwise wouldn't be on my radar as the food is above average, and the beer below. read more

On my most recent trip to Chicago, I wanted relaxation. I wanted comfort. I needed the cornbread from The Perch. Thanks to Yelp working it's magic, we stumbled upon this restaurant for a Saturday brunch. We thought, okay, a brewery...for brunch?? No shade to all the breweries out there, but we were of the mindset that there are 2 types of breweries out there: ones that excel at beer but their food menu is lackluster and ones that have some amazing food but the beer is meh. The Perch pretty much blew that assumption out of the water. What won me over when looking at pictures of this place was the skillet cornbread. Now look... I've had a lot of cornbread in my life so the bar was set pretty high. And after trying this cornbread -- which was the first thing we ordered of course -- I knew this place was legit. It was so warm, so subtlety sweet, so moist in the interior and crispy on top like a muffin. I could eat that cornbread everyday if given the opportunity. We also tried an assortment of additional items on their brunch menu. The croquettes were just a meh for me -- completely overshadowed by basically everything else we ordered. I found the brussel sprout salad to be delicious (and made even better with the addition of their house roasted chicken). I'm not a beer drinker, but I even found their drafts to be pretty good, too. Next time you're craving a big cast iron skillet of fruit-forward cornbread (because who doesn't), The Perch has got you covered for a lowkey yet delicious brunch. read more

The outside garden is cute. Even with everyone talking at their tables, it still seemed like a serene atmosphere. We came for brunch, and it was busy. The service was still attentive and nice. I really liked the lobster deviled eggs, but the cheese curds were too rich and breaded for me. To be fair, I can't have too much cheese anyway. My bf loved them, and he also loved the cinnamon roll. The prime rib hash was great- be prepared for heavy and filling! I was a just little disappointed the eggs were over cooked (I asked for over medium, so the yolk should've been slightly runny). The smartest part of their menu- the dog menu! My sweet boy enjoyed the scruffy scramble! read more

My best friend and I were visiting Chicago and were walking nearby looking for restaurants for dinner. We decided to Google nearby food places and The Perch popped up. After seeing the menu and reviews, it looked pretty good, so we decided to check it out! We set a reservation really quick but upon entry, noticed there was seating at the bar, which we enjoy. So we opted for that. The bartenders were super nice and we were so excited to try out some drinks and food items. Me and my bestie are the types who love to try several different menu items, so we ordered a smorgasbord of appetizers, including the lobster deviled eggs, skillet cornbread, and croquettes. The croquettes were just okay; they were made of potatoes, bacon, and cheese...the flavor was there, but I wasn't feeling the texture. The lobster deviled eggs were my favorite! Such a good flavor!! The skillet cornbread was also amazing! For entrees, we ordered the short ribs and the prime rib French dip. Bestie said her French dip was bomb! My short ribs were good but I found out I didn't like turnips, which were included in the winter vegetable mix alongside the short ribs and mash lol. Everything else was good though. Overall, we had a great experience. The bartenders whipped us up custom drinks and made great food recommendations. The ambience was cool and laidback and it was a great time.I'd definitely go back when I'm in the area! read more
