Having recently moved and with most things in boxes, we ate out for several meals last week. On the 3rd night of going looking for our dinner, I wanted cheap and cheerful, nothing fancy.
We popped into the Pearse Brasserie in the hotel and sat ourselves down. There was a few other tables eating, so I was hopeful.
We ordered some Garlic mushrooms and chicken wings to start with. Fairly standard and edible. Oddly enough, the blue cheese dip for the wings had chunks of blue cheese in it, and it was rather good. Usually that's one item which is pretty tasteless no matter where ya get it.
Hubby had the fish and chips, which he said was decent. Huge portion, he ate his fill and still had some left over. The skinny fries were a tad overcooked, but had this chewy texture which was strangely compelling, we couldn't stop nibbling on them!?
I had the Carbonara, and it was allright, I've had better, but I've definitely had worse.
All in all, it was what I wanted, cheap and cheerful. The service was fine, the guy was rather cheery. I wouldn't rush back, but it was filling and adequate.
