We were guests at the resort, and upon seeing their reasonable pricing in addition to receiving drink coupons, we decided to give it a try. They were able to substitute iced tea for the free alcoholic drink (with purchase of entree), and they had a cider option included. They don't charge extra to switch out fries for onion rings which isn't common amongst restaurants nowadays. And the onion rings were really fresh and good. Overall, all of our meals tasted great and it was a great option to have at the retreat. We sat out in the back patio since we had a dog with us, and thank god they had heaters because it was cold at night. Our only complaint was that the food took over 20 minutes to come out after ordering, and they said they were backed up by one large party.

Because it was Valentine's Day we were only able to order from the menu pictured Kerri had the salmon and she said the fish was cooked perfectly and tasty My chicken was stuffed with cheese and spinach topped with grilled dates and micro sprouts Service was ok Mostly pine wood on the walls and ceiling so a rustic type of feel

I love this restaurant! They have amazing drinks and the food is superb! The staff is so great & friendly! I recommend sitting outside in the back. Such a gorgeous place. You're outside in the forest, eating amazing food, and having the best cocktails (Blue Smoke is excellent )the best cocktails, who could ask for more? I highly recommend this place! There are not enough stars to emphasize how excellent it really is!

I was SO excited to dine here. The atmosphere is everything. You get to enjoy good food, surrounded by nature. I can only imagine how beautiful it is during the winter. The food was delicious. Slow to get to the table, though. And there is an extra charge for everything, including 1 slice of tomato in the kids burger. Our waitress was ok. She was very nice and friendly, but she didn't come to check on our table. We asked for the heater to be turned on. She said she'd get help from the manager, then never came back.

Such an amazing restaurant within the pines. Food is delicious and service is great. They even had live music on a Thursday night! The Peak doesn't disappoint!

We stayed at Tahquitz Pines Retreat and were given two vouchers for wine and beer, so we decided to try this restaurant out. There was no wait when we came on Saturday at around 5pm. The ambiance inside was warm and cozy, somewhat dimly lit and perfect for a dinner for two. We ordered the shrimp corn chowder, the lemon caper chicken, and the kona burger. The shrimp and corn chowder was our absolute favorite, one of the best chowders we've had. We also really liked the kona burger, which is like a teriyaki char burger from The Habit if you've ever had one! This one was better. I will say that the beef patty could've been seasoned a bit more and could have been juicier, but the sauce was great to pair with the burger. Our least favorite thing was the lemon caper chicken, specifically the chicken itself. Although it was cooked well, it didn't taste too special, and the lemon sauce was a little bitter (probably from using too much of the lemon rind/whites). But overall the dish was enjoyable. We finished all of our food along with two glasses of their house wines, which were solid. All of the food came out within about 15-20 minutes and the servers were incredibly sweet. Overall if you're staying at Tahquitz Pines, I'd highly recommend at least stopping here to redeem your vouchers, or if you're staying in Idyllwild!

Revisited and had a wonderful lunch. The menu is much larger and options were plentiful. The seasonal meatloaf was decadent -- one of the best meals I've eaten in Idyllwild! Staff was great and restaurant was bustling. Will be back on our next visit to Idy!

The Peak is a casual and comfortable restaurant located inside The Tahquitz Pines resort. The food is very good, the staff is kind and quick. I had the Mahi fish tacos, which were huge and very flavorful. We came back the following night for dinner and had the Tuscan Chicken sandwich and Brussels Sprouts. The Brussels Sprouts were delicious! The beer is served very cold and priced reasonably. I would come here again...after all I already went two nights in a row.

Our server told us this place had opened just about a year ago so I wanted to be sure to write about my positive experience. Me and my boyfriend had dinner reservations here on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant is attached to a hotel/lodging site. The inside is nice and modern and we opted to sit outside with the nice view of the trees. Be warned though! evening time in the spring/summer has the mosquitoes out so wear bug spray or cover up to enjoy the nice evenings outside. Our server, Alex, was a pleasure and very accommodating. For dinner I got the orange chicken which I was on the fence about but glad I ordered because I really enjoyed the saki-infused sauce they make. My boyfriend got the chicken tenders which were plentiful and delicious with a side of crunchy onion rings. Both of our meals were 10/10. I also ordered the blood orange cider they offer and that was quite refreshing and not too sweet. Lastly for dessert we enjoyed their fried ice cream which was crunchy and delicious. I highly recommend stopping by here if you're new to visiting Idyllwild or returning looking for a newer spot!

Came in after lunch and before dinner. So not super busy but service was still top tier. We googled to find somewhere new to eat and so happy we picked The Peak. The ambiance on the back patio is relaxing and peaceful you feel a little emerged in nature. I got the shrimp and corn chowder and not only did it have a beautiful presentation the flavor was very good. Can't wait to try different dishes in the future.

Came up for a family wedding and decided to stay at the Peak Resort. The restaurant was very elegant and woodsy at the same time. The waitress was very attentive as she seemed to be new. We ordered the Coconut Shrimp which was very good. Then we had the Alfredo Pasta with Chicken and the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Onion rings. All the food was very good, freshly tasting and good portions. Be aware that pricing is a little high but well worth it when it comes to flavor, ambience and service. I do recommend the resort and the restaurant as they hit all the high marks.

Some chilaquiles that were mixed with beans and green sauce. I only ate the eggs.

Awful chilaquiles!! Only one server, poor guy was running all over the place. Cook needs to google how to cook chilaquiles. What a disappointment. It was nasty!

We added our name to the Yelp waitlist before arriving, but when we checked in with the hostess, she seemed surprised and said they didn't have a waitlist. A little confusing start. The atmosphere felt a bit stark--more like a warehouse than a cozy, inviting restaurant, with little warmth or décor to set the mood. Service overall was just okay, though it took quite a while to get our check at the end. As for the food, it was decent--flavorful but on the salty side, and overall reminded me of a standard cafeteria meal. The salmon dish itself was tasty, but it came with--no exaggeration--what looked like just a single teaspoon of mashed potatoes on the side. The squash was plentiful, but tasteless. For the price and presentation, I was definitely expecting a more generous portion. With all the glowing recommendations I'd heard, I was expecting something more memorable.

Finally, somebody brought us some water. About 10 minutes later we were able to order some wine. We were watching people come in and it seemed like people that were known to the owner were greeted right away and served right away and we noticed customers walking in and seated were looking around for menus and service , they were looking like what's going on .?? Owner/server seem to be running around outside and inside, not attentive at all to any of us unless she knew or was familiar with customers that walked in. We got lucky*) Server was amazing Food expediter was super nice Food was delicious Elegant, fine dining experience Music was my mountain playlist (and not too loud) View of mountains for me. View of architecture for my wife. PARKING: Parking can be difficult in the small lot, but there's parking along the street too. INSIDE: It was perfect weather. 68ºF at 6pm after a warm day. They have "indoor/patio" style seating which may be difficult for some to access by multiple steps. We were seated at the top, a table away from the music, along the window side. They have heat lamps - but temps were perfect (lots of people and hot food warmed everyone up). I wanted to walk around the restaurant. The tiered architecture is interesting. FOOD: High End Vegan! Yes - I'm guilty of wanting to give them 5 stars just looking at their vegan menu. (And omnivore selection) Yes - I appreciate the care that it takes to prepare a plate. BUT This food was just delicious by itself. Even in a cardboard box, this food would've been amazing. VEGAN "cheese" appetizer (great for 2-3 people) Nut cheese was warm and tangy. This is NOT just cashews and nooch in a blender. It is spiced with something that brings a little heat. *you will want to lick the bowl. PRO TIP: The welcome bread with ... oh shit.... WELCOME BREAD / Garlic Olive Oil This crusty bread served with microplaned garlic + olive oil is fantastic. Garlic Fiend? You're gonna love this. Not a fan of garlic? What's wrong with you?! I mean... just serve from the oil side. Save some bread for your vegan cheese.... VEGAN CHEESE (cont.) Order the gluten free bread (a little more like Uti's toasted dinner roll) with your vegan cheese app. Omnivores at your table will be surprised how well this vegan cheese and wine pair with each other. TROUT I think my wife got the trout. She loved it. Light and delicate. VEGAN KIMCHI TOFU I've had kimchi. I've had tofu. We all have. This was prepared on a bed of roasty veg that was a great match to the salty kimchi. I don't know if there was a marinade preparation (sesame paste?) with the tofu, or it was made locally, or both, but this firm tofu was excellent. Sweet. Nutty. Salty. Fresh tasting and filling. The vegan menu here isn't just an "alternate version" of an omnivore dish. It is its own thing. DESSERT MISTAKE = not getting it. We thought there would be dessert in town, but we got out late. Town had closed. MUSIC Tonight's music was a pair of musicians playing CS&N, Neil Young, Bob Seger... acoustic session: Guitar, Violin, Mandolin. Quiet & sentimental performance was a perfect accompaniment to a long hike day. THERE ARE 1-STAR REVIEWS of this place. They have their reasons. I've only been here once. But I experienced NONE of the things they've mentioned. Moreover, we experienced even better than what other 5-star reviews suggested. This is an elegant spot, framed by a perfect day in Idyllwild. If I come back to the town, I will want to try other restaurants, but I'll definitely come back here. Not *just* because of their vegan options, but definitely *for* their vegan options.

When the bill came out, we were honestly stunned. The total was $181 for very small portions and mediocre food. Then we noticed they had automatically added a 23% "large party" fee... for 4 adults and 2 kids. That alone added over $30 to the bill. To make matters worse, we asked if they could split the check between couples and were told they couldn't. Probably because they wouldn't be able to charge us the large party fee! After we questioned the charges, the manager/owner conveniently disappeared after printing the receipt instead of addressing the issue. This place feels like it's taking advantage of tourists. Poor quality food, inflated prices, hidden fees, and bad customer service. Steer clear.
