When my bf and I go out for breakfast/brunch, we love to order something sweet to balance out our savory order. We ordered the tiramisu French toast and wow! This was our second visit, and we'll definitely be back. We drive about an hour from La Quinta to get here, and it's absolutely worth the trip. The restaurant is always clean, organized, and welcoming, and the restrooms are spotless as well. I ordered the chilaquiles with steak and chose the red sauce. I can usually handle spicy food, but this dish definitely had a nice kick to it. Everything tasted fresh, especially the microgreens, onions, and black beans. I also added two eggs over medium, which were cooked perfectly. The steak had good flavor overall, but mine was cooked more well-done than I would have preferred. I wasn't asked for a preferred temperature, so I'm not sure if that's an option. The ribeye is also sliced very thin, which may contribute to it cooking through more quickly. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be serving this dish on a flat plate rather than in a bowl. The bowl made it a little challenging to cut the steak comfortably, whereas a flat plate would make it easier to enjoy. My food was good, even almost great! This review reflects mainly the server and what she said to our party. Someone in my party thought he ordered two mushroom and bacon cheeseburgers, but instead he got two bacon cheeseburgers. When the food came out and he brought this up to the server, she became confrontational. She said "I checked with you twice!" in an angry tone. The person in my party does not speak perfect English, so the server may have been right, but to take that tone was very off-putting. Multiple staff came over at that point and they did offer to bring mushrooms on the side, but the way the server handled her frustration came out in her tone and made the whole table uncomfortable. She angrily said "so are we good or?" and we let the situation go. Still, if I had been the one paying (the person the server took this tone with had paid for the whole table) I certainly would not have left a tip (he still did). My absolute favorite item I ate was the sausage. Incredibly juicy and very delicious. I wish we ordered more of it instead of the bacon, in my opinion. The fried chicken wasn't dry and was very crispy. The tiramisu french toast wasn't too sweet, but I also never add syrup. My favorite part about Idyllwild is that dogs are welcome almost everywhere, as long as they behave of course. We visited Idyllwild for the first time Valentine's Day weekend and found ourselves at Mama's Egg House on Sunday morning. This is a very dog friendly city, and was happy to see other dogs on their patio. We were told by a worker there that we just pick a spot wherever we'd like to sit, and then order our food at the counter. They deliver it to your table once ready! Inside area is on the small side, not really any room for very big parties, I'd say 4 or less. Outside has much more room to work with. It was such a cute little restaurant... a mixture of new trendy meets traditional mom n' pop. This was around 9:30am and there were a pretty good amount of people there. Nearly the full inside was seated and outside maybe had 1/4 of their tables taken. We got lucky with a corner streetside table so our golden retriever could mingle with passerbyers. When I got to the cashier, I was greeted with a warm smile. I then ordered the birria chilaquilles and pancakes with sausage. We also got the horchata white Russian and michelada. It took maybe 5min for our drinks to come out, and 15min for food to come out. The Horchata white Russian was AMAZING. I dont know how to explain it other than a warm cozy feeling within an iced drink? Haha. Michelada was good. Our meals were both beautifully presented and tasted fresh. It seems to be a fast casual concept where you order at the counter. They do bring the food out to you. The menus could've used a cleaning, they look like they had seen better days, and they were definitely smudges of food on them. I got the huevos rancheros and it was delicious! Tons of flavor and just the right amount of spice in the sauce. I asked for the breakfast potatoes extra crispy and they didn't seem extra crispy, but they did taste really good. I also loved the big chunks of veggies and there was a nice serving of avocado as well. My food came out really fast and was piping hot. My fiancé got the three egg breakfast. Simple and tasty! At first we ate our pancakes, nothing was wrong and then I saw a bunch of hair on my son's ham steak... The eggs were supposed to be over medium, but as you can see, they are over easy very - on the easy side, if they didn't cook them at all. We told the lady about the hair and she brought us another ham steak, but by then we were already done... And then we noticed there was hair inside the eggs after eating one. And it was not a human hair - It was dog hair. This is disgusting and they should be flagged from the health department. And no, we did not have a dog. This place is consistently delicious! So much so I often forget to take pictures. Nearly every morning lately I've been getting a green goddess juice with ginger instead of orange juice (and two if it's a Tuesday since they close Wednesdays), and it's the perfect pick me up and delicious every time. The burritos are huge and even more satisfying with chorizo, and the fried chicken with waffles is worth every bite (and I sometimes sub out the waffle for salad if it's more lunch time). The kiddos always get and love their pancakes eggs bacon etc, and really I guess this is all to say that almost everything I've had there has been perfection, and even the things that weren't exactly my taste upon order were easily amenable with their spicy salsa.
