Love this place. Third time here and it's SO RELAXING. I like that today wasn't super busy on the patio. I got biscuits & gravy as an app. Then I got the barbecue beef sandwich on the Hawaiian bun and french fries with a little bit of chili on top. Ridiculously good! The french fries are really good and the chili was OK. Nothing beats the deliciousness of the barbecue sauce! The barbecue beef sandwich was incredible! I usually don't even eat the bun but the bun was so good and there was enough meat that I was needing to separate the top and the bottom of the bun. So WE ARE STUFFED. Based on Yelp stars we came here for lunch as soon as we entered the city of Idyllwild. We chose it specifically for being pet friendly as soon to be birthday pup was along for our road trip. Hands down one of my favorite eateries in Idyllwild! Fork & Spoon checks all three boxes: great food, great service, and a vibrant ambiance with cute decor. A group of friends and I stopped by yesterday for lunch after a long (but fulfilling) week of camp. There was something on the menu for everyone; as we have a few vegetarians/plant-based folks in our group. Our host, who was also the manager, was incredibly friendly, funny, hospitable, and warm. I had wanted to order the Cactus Burrito, but come to find out they had no cactus and were in the process of taking it off the menu. I went with my #2 choice, which was the veggie burger. Friends in my group had ordered burgers, chili cheese fries, BLT's, and corned beef hash. Our meals had come out quite quickly and were hot, fresh, and tasty! So much so, that nearly every plate was empty after we ate! There was also a cute shop in the front of the store which had a myriad of items! I ended up purchasing a cute pair of "fork and spoon" earrings as a gift. We visited on Memorial Day and it was somewhat busy. They said they only had one cook working and it would be a little wait. That was fine. The server who helped us was very nice and attentive. The food came out around 30 minutes after our order. All of our food was undercooked (you could tell they were rushing to get food out to tables because they were busy). My wife couldn't eat her veggie omelet and the food was unimpressive. They quickly offered to remake it but she declined. We left hungry. I want to like this restaurant but I doubt we would ever try it again. Positives are the mountain location and dog friendly patio. read more

I am telling all my friends with dogs about this place. It is THE best place for dogs, and their humans. They have a full doggie menu, and immediately brought treats and water out for my dog. For my breakfast, I enjoyed the Tahquitz skillet, and it was so good. They were very busy and short staffed, and the waitress kept apologizing. No need, it was totally fine! On Tuesday morning there aren't too many places open for breakfast in Idyllwild when we checked all breakfast spots "open now". We saw this place a short but beautiful & scenic 10 minute drive down the Highway - and so glad we did! The atmosphere of this place is a cute mom & pop mountain vibe with lots of wood paneling and deer antler chandeliers. They also have a great deck outside for when it's not too hot. I got the chicken fried steak & eggs ($12.50) with scrambled eggs, hash browns and biscuits & gravy. I have to say, this chicken fry rivals my favorite chicken fry back in Redondo Beach (LA) at Snax. The hash browns were great and the scrambled eggs were fluffy. My girlfriend got the house toasted turkey club sandwich ($11.50) which came highly recommended and it too was pretty fantastic. As a regualar camper in the area, the locals kept telling me about this amazing breakfast place "Mountain Center Cafe"...now FORK & SPOON...I am not sure what the hype is all about, tasted like regular food, nothing that I could say WOW that was great! I arrived just as they opened and thought it was very cute, indoor/outdoor seating and a very nice waitress. Only one working....I sat inside, got a glass of water and ordered. As soon as I completed my order, she pointed to a sticker on the menu that said SAME FOOD/NEW PRICES and told me that they have new owners and the prices have changed...2 yrs ago! If it's been 2 yrs, why are the new prices NOT LISTED on the menu...? Got the Flat Head Combo, 2 eggs, 2 meats, potato's and 2 pancakes. Eggs-were a little dry Bacon was well done as requested Potato's you could tell were previously frozen and cooked to serve Pancakes were flavorless The service was great, food was average, but glad I went. read more

Stopped in while hiking up in the area. Great spot. Traditional diner food - burgers, sandwiches, breakfast all day. I got the party melt which was great, wife got the chicken teriyaki melt sandwich which was also great. Kids got kids meals which they liked. Service was great - sat right away with a party of 5. Table had little quiz cards which was a great way to help keep the kids entertained while we waited for lunch, which arrived quickly. Stopped here for lunch on a drive up to the mountains from Palm Springs. This was our second visit here, and it was great. We sat outside on the lovely deck on a sunny March day. I ordered off the breafast menu and the food was very good. One item on my plate stood out, however--the breakfast potatoes. I'm usually not a fan of the potatoes I sometimes get with a breakfast when eating out, but let me tell you, these were the best that I have ever had. I don't know what their secret was, but they were terrific. Service was great too. One way I judge a restaurant is what their restrooms are like--if they're dirty or in disrepair, you can be sure things in the kitchen aren't much better. My coworker and I stopped in for a late lunch after we got off work around 4pm on Tuesday 4/19/22. We haven't been since Bonnie and Martha sold but the new owner was just as friendly, I didn't get his name though. My coworker ordered the hot pastrami and I ordered the patty melt. Both sandwiches were delicious. I usually have leftovers to take home but not this time, I cleaned the plate! I'm not sure if the new owners are locals but if they aren't, welcome to our mountain! This is our go to spot for breakfast or lunch on our roads trips up to the area. We stopped by on Tuesday for lunch and were the only people in the restaurant. The food was delicious as always but even better was we had a chance to just sit and chat with the employee that took our order (sorry, forgot her name) and the chef Casey who came out to say hi. We all got superrrr bad food poisoning from here. I hate leaving bad reviews but my son almost ended up in the hospital, so I wanna warn others.... now looking at the reviews, I see we are not the first. Thought it was just the chicken since my 2 year old was the first to get sick, but within a couple hours we were all down. My 2 year old, my mother, my 89 yo grandmother (who had to suffer a whole 12 hour flight with food poisoning thanks to this place). So freakin awful :( read more

FOOD ILLNESS UPDATE: Health Department came in per my request since the owner refused to give refund for making my husband sick. The following was discovered: *Sink sanitizer automatic dispensing compartment did not have the proper concentration level of sanitizer being used (GROSS! This means your dishes are NOT FULLY SANITIZED)!!!! *Not Covering kitchen food items properly- increases chances of contamination. *Microwave dirty *Cleaning lids dirty *Unlabeled spray bottle in the kitchen (must be labeled to avoid possible misuse or contamination) -Food temps- *Grilled tomatoes must be a temp of 135 degrees. The cooking demo showed they only cook them to 125 degrees *Ice compartment was unlocked should be kept locked at all times since it is near the restroom to avoid contamination. BACK AT YA!!! All you had to do was give me a refund and now you get slammed with multiple health code violations which also means you'll be under their gun for awhile and they will make updated visits after the one they just made ORIGINAL REVIEW: This café gave my husband food poisoning yesterday morning I called three times today asking to speak to the manager or the owner to get a refund for my husband's food. I was put off all day long so at the end of the day I came in personally and expressed that I did not appreciate being blown off while my husband had been sick with diarrhea. The owner walked out side with me and spoke with me and tried to pretend like it was the flu instead of food poisoning Here's a reality check for you: 1.) My husband is a doctor and was a infection control specialist for the government so there's no deceiving us on the difference between having the flu and getting sick from how food was made or otherwise contaminated to something like E. coli or one not washing their hands. 2.) Becoming sick within two hours or less and having 3 blowouts is a sure sign of food poisoning. Food poisoning only last 6 to 12 hours. My husband diarrhea lasted seven hours. The flu would last for over 24 hours. 3.) I kissed my husband yesterday before and after breakfast and throughout the day if it was the flu I surely would have ended up having the same problems have an upset stomach and diarrhea as he did yet I have not become ill. Despite having their food permit this owner apparently doesn't realize that food poisoning doesn't have to happen to more than one person they can happen to one person and still be a real thing. All it takes is ONE time of the cook not washing his hands when preparing my husbands food or maybe he touched raw chicken and then also touched my husband's food which could've given him an upset stomach from E. coli or something else to that matter. Those are perfect examples of how someone could become sick from the way food was prepared and yet have it be only theirs that was affected. So I have it on recording her denial and denying to make it right and trying to make excuses about it being the flu and I've turned my recording into Riverside County health Department along with my written complaint. read more

What an AMAZING place the food is so delicious and a lot of in house prepared items along with a beautiful area where it is located ( outside area for enjoying your meal a10 ) let's not stop there , the owner Jerri goes above and beyond with great side dish of conversation. I was on my way back home to Arizona when myself and family stumbled across this restaurant so glad we stopped. Upon leaving I had forgotten my reading glasses and Jerri tried to stop me as I was pulling away but I didn't see her . A couple of weeks later I realized I left them at the restaurant so I called and Jerri said she had them and would be happy to send them to me , so the same day I called she went to the post office and sent them off then sends me tracking receipt by text . Nice to find a place open on Tuesdays for lunch and serves breakfast all day. We had Ray's omelette today. I like the country potatoes. You taste the potatoes, not the oil. The potatoes are not perfect cubes so they are made in house. They have all colors of bell peppers which is great as I don't care for green. The best description of their omelettes: FRESH. No canned mushrooms for example. The meat is cut up in small pieces which I prefer inside an omelette. I like the farmer skillets the best, but wasn't disappointed with the tasty omelette today. Cinnamon roll - large, lots of cinnamon and very tasty. I can't wait for warmer weather to eat outside and I can bring my dog. My only wish is that they'd be open an hour later so my husband could pick up dinner on his way home. I absolutely love that they open at 6:30am daily. This has become my go to whenever I make the trek up to Lake Hemet to indulge in the beautiful scenery and amazing sunrises. I've only had breakfast here, but it was definitely telling enough where I can expect all things on the menu are delicious. I've been wanting to try so much of the menu, but each time I come I simply cannot resist the eggs benedict. It is perfection and I'm addicted to the breakfast potatoes which pairs with it perfectly. Fork and spoon is a hidden gem in the San Jacinto Mountain Range that I almost didn't want to write a review to share it with others . We visit Idyllwild frequently and this is our go to spot for breakfast to escape the crowds in town. Not only is everyone friendly and welcoming but the customer service is top notch. My family and I loved the classic diner vibe in a cabin and although we didn't sit outside it's very welcoming especially on a nice day. I had the Keenwild Skillet and with a little bit of hot sauce it set it off. The portion was not too huge or too little it was the perfect amount. The consensus from my family is you can't leave without at least having a side of their country potatoes. Very flavorful. To top the review off they have the most reasonable prices on the mountain. This place is awesome and the people running it are very nice. I got the feeling that a lot of the people who came are regulars. My girlfriend and I had a great meal here. Everything was delicious and the portions were good. I live about 2 hours away and the fries alone make me want to move to the area. They were that good, as were the seasoned country fried potatoes. If you have a dog, they are very pet friendly. Online, they even have a dog menu. I was just a little thrown off when I pulled up and the sign said "Mountain Center Cafe" instead of "Mountain Center Fork and Spoon." So, if you see that sign, you are in the right place. read more

Visiting Idyllwild for my wife's and dogs birthdays (just happen to be on same day) and chose this location for breakfast since they had a dog-friendly patio. This place absolutely exceeded every expectation and can't recommend it enough. Since it was slow that early morning and cold outside, they suggested we eat indoors (vice the patio) in a corner area away from everyone which was great. Menu had several great breakfast food options and they even offered us a cinnamon roll for my wife's birthday (unexpected but a nice touch). Had to take food to go because it was too much for us to finish but even a few days later the pancakes were delicious. Honestly wasn't expecting much for breakfast place, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating, was dog friendly, food was delicious, and it really started off our day in the best of possibilities. Not terrible, but not what it used to be. We used to come here fairly regularly, but that was over a year ago. Came this morning to find not only had they increased the prices (not a huge issue since everything costs more these days - however, the current prices were not on the menu so we didn't know exactly what we were going to be spending), but also the quality of the food was not as great as before. The coffee was not good, which is also something I look for when going to breakfast. The server was making things confusing when I was trying to ask for the corned beef hash skillet but without the eggs or hollandaise sauce since I'm allergic to eggs. So I had to end up ordering something completely different instead. And when I asked for the giant sausage patty which used to be hand made, I got two regular (clearly premade not fresh) sausage patties.
