This is my second time at Ferro and it's always a great time. The space has that cozy, warm, rustic vibe that fits Idyllwild perfectly. We had a table reservation but ended up sitting at the bar instead. The bar itself is pretty small with only a handful of seats, but that made it more intimate and fun. We ended up chatting with the other guests and it turned into one of those unexpectedly great nights. Bryan, our bartender/server was adorable, friendly, and really made the whole experience enjoyable. We ordered the following: Gamberoni alla Griglia - big, juicy prawns with a light char and clean natural flavors. Simple, fresh and done right. Lasagna with Boar Special - my boyfriend ordered this and it was definitely on the richer side. He couldn't finish it and had to take it home, but said it was even better the next day. Salmone Arrosto - perfectly cooked, flaky, and not dry at all. Light, simple, and really satisfying the portion was pretty generous. I ended up taking some home too. If you're looking for a casually upscale date night spot while in town, I highly recommend this place. Staff, service, food, and drinks are always on point.

Great experience overall. Service was great. Our server, Nathan, was very kind, encouraging and attentive. His recommendations really help guide us through the menu. The restaurant itself had great vibes. The seating area inside is pretty intimate, so our seat next to the fireplace felt very cozy and warm. Ambient lighting, intentional festive decorations, and great music. Food was excellent. Ordered a Caesar salad, lemon chicken pasta and a margarita pizza. Highlight of the meal was the Caesar salad. Tasted well seasoned and the anchovies were a pleasant surprise.

We visited Ferro Valentine's Day weekend on our first trip to Idyllwild. I made sure to make reservations a month in advance, and was happy I did because it was busy! Im sure the mixture of a holiday weekend and it being a Saturday was to blame, so definitely go on their website to make those reservations and plan ahead. Parking is limited right in front of the restaurant, but right across the street you have ample parking options, just make sure to arrive a little early to make some time to park. We arrived 5min. Early and checked in at the host who was very welcoming! I did make a request on my reservation for a table near the fireplace, but they took us upstairs and stuck us in a tight fitting corner. This table was against the window with my seat against the wall with no room to push my chair back comfortably and my boyfriend's seat right up against a decorative floating glass wall...which directly behind THAT was a bathroom. It definitely didnt scream "romantic dinner spot" but we rolled with it. Our waiter was great and very knowledgeable of the menu. We ended up getting the Jameson ginger mule and Fernet Francisco Willet Rye Cask. We also ordered a Caesar Salad, Zuppa di Pesce and Capesante Scottate to start. Main dishes were the Spaghetti e Polpette & Lasagne al Cinghiale e Manzo. They delivered complimentary olives/2 pretzel like sticks/ ball of butter. Shortly after that we received our drinks that were good but the mule was definitely on the sour side. Appetizers came out maybe 15min. later. I got the cup of Zuppa and it was A LOT... we shared that and still didnt finish. The Caesar Salad had freshly made Caesar dressing and topped with an anchovy filet- it was delicious. The scallops were definitely good, but there were only 3 and on the smaller side of what we imagined for the price compared to other fine dining spots we've been to. It took a bit for our main dishes to come out, but again, it was Valentine's Day. The Lasagna and spaghetti were SO good and had a good amount of portion to it. We were sad that we were so full, because we just couldnt fit dessert in when we really wanted to try the tiramisu. Our waiter got us our check super fast, we paid, and left. I think if we were to have had a different table. ..it would been the perfect experience, but at least the food was great.

Made reservations for an early dinner. There are different areas to dine but only the 2nd floor was left available. The restaurant appears small from the outside but once we entered it opened up to a cozy and intimate space. We were greeted right away as we entered and our server was friendly as she took our orders. The menu had amazing options. We were also given a happy hour menu which i couldn't resist in ordering wine from. Received complementary bread sticks, butter and olives while we waited. Our food choices were delicious. We selected to start off with insalata burrata and for our mains lasagna, marinara with mushrooms, pepperoni pizza and the linguine with chicken. The dishes were all made perfectly. We even ordered desserts, sorbets and the bread pudding, and totally forgot to take pictures since they were devoured within minutes. Didn't think we'd find one of our most memorable Italian dining experiences in Idyllwild. Coming from the East coast (Jersey specifically) where Italian food is plentiful our hunt to find anything similar can be a chore..but we hit gold with Ferro! Thrilled to find this little gem of a place in the mountains. Will certainly be back when we return to Idyllwild.

This spot is perfect for a date night--we saw plenty of couples enjoying the ambiance. We were seated upstairs, where the mood lighting, candlelight, and charming old-home feel blended beautifully with the modern décor. The four of us stopped in for a light dinner, and the food did not disappoint. The salads were fresh, bright, and perfectly dressed. The grilled prawns were cooked just right. The dessert leaned a bit dry, but the gelato was wonderfully rich and decadent. I'd definitely love to come back and try a more extensive meal!

While visiting Idyllwild we were looking for a nice restaurant to enjoy, unfortunately this one missed the mark. The ambiance is nice, the patio is fine but underwhelming with all of the reviews saying how nice it is. Service was good the whole time. The downside was the food, and for the price it definitely was NOT worth it. The complimentary bread sticks and olives were delicious, definitely the highlight of our meal. My burrata salad was fresh and good, the Caesar salad was flavorless. Our entrees came out looking delicious but it turned out to be one of the worst entrees we've had. The spaghetti and linguine were both super undercooked and hard. The meatballs were borderline raw. The sauce on my seafood pasta was very spicy and flavorless, the lobster and prawns were cooked nicely though. Overall we were really disappointed with having our nice meal here. In my opinion it was overpriced for the quality of food we received.

Ferro is a beautiful restaurant...It was our first time here and definitely ill give another try...of course ill have reservation for the first floor. They had beautiful patio to... They werent so busy but as they mentioned their most tables were booked...we didnt have reservations...Make sure have reservations because they are keeping tables for their reservation eventhough if they dint show up and be late which i like it...Sometimes for some reason people get late and miss their table and some restaurants dont accept it...Sometimes its a good gesture to keep the table... Service was ok...The server who helped us forgot the drink. Also, i asked them to not put anchovies in top of my salad and put aside which they didnt! They brought Pizza and the items on top of it didnt stick to each other due to lack of cheese! Also, they didnt offer shaved cheese on top or even crushed bell pepper...It wasn't on the table! If its not table, most likely the waiter offers but nobody did offer and i asked for crushed pepper and when i figured out i wanted shaved cheese nobody was upstair so sitting the first floor will give you better service...When we were walking out i saw the shaved cheese on the counter... The lentils soup was phenomenal...It was my favorite part of order but it was missing a bread...Soup often comes with bread specially in Italy and italian restaurants but i didnt get any and it was too late to order the bread...Dont forget to order bread with your soup.4/5 The salad was good, except i told them no anchovies on top of it...The shrimp was ok but it didnt taste anything...4/5 Carpaccio was so delicious and carefully sliced...I think this part was 5/5. The Pizza didnt stick together and it was missing cheese...I hope they offered shredded cheese or crushed red pepper....4/5 Overall, its a good restaurant but it was missing so many items...I was hoping that they will acknowledge they didnt bring the drink but no one did acknowledge so probably the waiter didnt put in menu or they have just missed.1/5 The person who welcomed us was very welcoming and friendly...The lady in bar was so sweet. The other thing, it was a toilet in second floor and while second floor was too small and no windows were open the smell of it wasn't pleasant and it was too close to tables so if there is no windows open or door itsnt surprising...Im very sensitive to smell...

Rib eye that wasn't like a rib eye at all. Broccolini and potatoes were excellent.

Stumbled upon FERRO while walking around Idyllwild for a mid-week staycation. We saw it had a nice front patio where we could bring baby strollers and was pleasantly surprised when they offered us seating in their back patio. The back patio is really beautiful and secluded with lots of shade and pine trees all around. We ordered oysters, jumbo prawns, breakfast pizza, broccolini, clam linguine, carpaccio and 8 ounce rib eye. The standouts for us were the prawns, pizza and broccolini. They make their bread and pastas in house and it tasted really good. The other dishes were solid but not our favorite, with the steak being over-salted and a bit too rare. I rather have my steak more rare than medium (ordered medium rare), but it was too rare for others at the table. The cut they used was also very weird to me. Must more like a rougher filet tenderloin than a rib eye. I've had a lot of steaks in my life and that wasn't like a rib eye at all. Besides nitpicking the steak, everything else was really good, great ambiance, great service, and a live jazz band on a Wednesday. Really enjoyed it and would come back.

Came here as part of our family trip to enjoy dinner in idyllwild. My mother and her friend ordered the sea bass while my husband and I tried the braised rabbit. The food was great, well seasoned, and cooked well. The only real downsides we had was the service and ambiance. While our server was very nice and attentive, none of the staff who came by assisted with getting some more light to where we were seated. We had only one candle on our table and no other light source as the umbrella of our table was blocking the other sources of light. It was very difficult to see the menu and also see what we were actually eating. Honestly, if this was addressed as we told multiple staff members if we could get another candle or light source and still got ignored, it would have made this so much better. Other than that, we did still enjoy the food and the drinks.

Everything about Ferros is amazing , the ambiance , the service " always helpful , kind and generous with time and attention to our needs and knowledge of menu as for the food there is not enough I can say about how good it is , but I will say we travel the world and also dine at many many Italian restaurants, this top our list, for authenticity and quality of ingredients, flair , flavor and we have our favorites !! Highly recommended the pesto pizza with goat cheese, the Caesar salad is the best as an appetizer " each bite will make your mouth explode with flavors and your taste buds will love you . The small bites menu is so yummy , each item given a try you will not be disappointed. The pastas all are so perfectly cooked and balanced with fresh basil And incredibly delicious, the cocktails are mesmerizing and little pieces of art . Speaking of art the walls are filled with beautiful warm black and whites and a little mixture of history " the brat pack and nods to the years past give this little gem in idyllwild an awesome sleep easy feel with a out door bar making wood fired pizzas where you may bring your fur baby to enjoy a wonderful glass of wine of wine under the stars . Look forward to each time we get there !

Looks like they can get pretty busy - we came on Saturday right when they opened and there were already people seated and plenty came after us. I tried their lemonade, margherita pizza & caprese salad w/ ribeye. Everything tasted good! Service was quick and kind. Gender neutral restroom & street parking only.

We had dinner at FERRO while staying in Idyllwild and everything was absolutely perfect. The cocktails were amazing, the seafood soup was delicious, and the steak and lobster were outstanding. Every dish was cooked beautifully and full of flavor. The service was exceptional--attentive, friendly, and welcoming. We will definitely be back next time we're in town. Highly recommend if you're visiting Idyllwild and looking for delicious dinner.

I was craving a quick bite and saw that this spot had a lot of signage for appetizers, small bites and movie theater snacks. While I normally wouldn't be as inclined to grab food from a theater when there are so many restaurants around, I saw that this spot wasn't yet busy and knew I needed to grab something on the go so I gave them a chance. The theatre inside is actually adorable and old timey. Small but first the old town vibe. They had a lot of decor, some arcade looking games and general move theater decor. A gentleman was working behind the counter and was super friendly and nice. Told him I was just wanting to grab a hotdog to go and he whipped it up right away. We got lucky*) Server was amazing Food expediter was super nice Food was delicious Elegant, fine dining experience Music was my mountain playlist (and not too loud) View of mountains for me. View of architecture for my wife. PARKING: Parking can be difficult in the small lot, but there's parking along the street too. INSIDE: It was perfect weather. 68ºF at 6pm after a warm day. They have "indoor/patio" style seating which may be difficult for some to access by multiple steps. We were seated at the top, a table away from the music, along the window side. They have heat lamps - but temps were perfect (lots of people and hot food warmed everyone up). I wanted to walk around the restaurant. The tiered architecture is interesting. FOOD: High End Vegan! Yes - I'm guilty of wanting to give them 5 stars just looking at their vegan menu. (And omnivore selection) Yes - I appreciate the care that it takes to prepare a plate. BUT This food was just delicious by itself. Even in a cardboard box, this food would've been amazing. VEGAN "cheese" appetizer (great for 2-3 people) Nut cheese was warm and tangy. This is NOT just cashews and nooch in a blender. It is spiced with something that brings a little heat. *you will want to lick the bowl. PRO TIP: The welcome bread with ... oh shit.... WELCOME BREAD / Garlic Olive Oil This crusty bread served with microplaned garlic + olive oil is fantastic. Garlic Fiend? You're gonna love this. Not a fan of garlic? What's wrong with you?! I mean... just serve from the oil side. Save some bread for your vegan cheese.... VEGAN CHEESE (cont.) Order the gluten free bread (a little more like Uti's toasted dinner roll) with your vegan cheese app. Omnivores at your table will be surprised how well this vegan cheese and wine pair with each other. TROUT I think my wife got the trout. She loved it. Light and delicate. VEGAN KIMCHI TOFU I've had kimchi. I've had tofu. We all have. This was prepared on a bed of roasty veg that was a great match to the salty kimchi. I don't know if there was a marinade preparation (sesame paste?) with the tofu, or it was made locally, or both, but this firm tofu was excellent. Sweet. Nutty. Salty. Fresh tasting and filling. The vegan menu here isn't just an "alternate version" of an omnivore dish. It is its own thing. DESSERT MISTAKE = not getting it. We thought there would be dessert in town, but we got out late. Town had closed. MUSIC Tonight's music was a pair of musicians playing CS&N, Neil Young, Bob Seger... acoustic session: Guitar, Violin, Mandolin. Quiet & sentimental performance was a perfect accompaniment to a long hike day. THERE ARE 1-STAR REVIEWS of this place. They have their reasons. I've only been here once. But I experienced NONE of the things they've mentioned. Moreover, we experienced even better than what other 5-star reviews suggested. This is an elegant spot, framed by a perfect day in Idyllwild. If I come back to the town, I will want to try other restaurants, but I'll definitely come back here. Not *just* because of their vegan options, but definitely *for* their vegan options.

The drinks were strong and well-made, and even though the place was packed, our waitress stayed attentive and checked in with us consistently. It's clear they specialize in more elaborate cocktails, so a bit of a wait is understandable. The ambiance is also a highlight--dark, intimate, and really leans into the tiki vibe. **Night two** was the complete opposite. We accidentally mixed up our reservation time, but since the place was nearly empty, we were seated right away, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. We had a different waitress, and despite being one of only a few parties there when we arrived, we waited **45 minutes** without seeing our drinks--while other groups seated after us were already being served (and even getting second rounds). We eventually had to flag down our waitress, who had hardly checked on us at all. When we asked about the delay, she said they were "very busy,". After mentioning how long we'd been waiting, there wasn't any real apology--just visible annoyance. She told us our drinks were "up next," but after another 20 minutes passed with nothing, we decided to leave after over an hour of waiting. It was disappointing, especially after such a positive first experience. A simple apology or some communication would have gone a long way. Sadly, the inconsistency makes it hard to know which version of this place you're going to get.

Proper smash burger with crispy edges and a juicy center. The patties had great flavor and didn't need anything extra. Came with homemade chips which were actually really good and easy to keep picking at. Service was good and everything came out without a long wait. Simple, tasty, and a spot I'd come back to.

They also have heaters outside, which kept it pretty warm. If you plan to sit outside, the covered area is definitely the best spot. They have an amazing drink selection. I was actually really surprised they had Laphroaig. I also ordered an Old Fashioned, which was delicious. That said, the prices are a little steep for what's technically a dive bar. There's a pool table if you want to play, and they also have a Photo Booth that costs $6 and gives you two prints, which is a fun little addition if you're there with friends. The decor throughout the place is super cool and adds a lot to the overall vibe. It says they close at 1 AM, but they were doing last call at 1 AM rather than kicking people out, so I'm not exactly sure what time the night fully wraps up. The music selection wasn't really my favorite, but the staff was very friendly, the drinks were great, the atmosphere was lively, and the decor is awesome. Definitely a top-tier dive bar with a fun vibe.

FACILITY: Small, limited seating indoors with very nice, fun, outdoor seating areas. Love this place. MENU: Simple, easy to understand, great photos online if you have any questions. FOOD PREP: Very well done, like professional in just how it looks. FOOD QUALITY: Professional in how it also tastes... Watermelon Gazpacho was perfect with drinks prior to main. LIBATIONS: drinks and bartender were excellent, fun, and the photo print was very cool. WAITSTAFF: just so nice, and fun making the experience all that much better. We have been enjoying The Plaza Theater so spending a little more time in Palm Springs and this will be one of our favorites places to relax prior to an event. OVERALL VALUE: Good, but it is Palm Springs, outdoors, great locations, classy.. no, not inexpensive but well worth it. TIP: I'd say be nice, be patient, and you will get a table. Don't be an angry rude touron, we don't need that vibe and we see some of that in PS.. You can try for reservations, not sure if they take off season.

If you didn't know better you'd think you were in LA in the summer, excepty for the bocce ball. They have an excellent selection of spirits, cocktails. Maybe a little varied, but decently creative. The only thing that gets me is pricing. Sure you pay for everything for decor, glassware and not just spritis, but I recall wondering how they price their drinks becuase not everything is equal or standard mark up when some things aren't house made it's easy to cost out becuase you stop paying for creativity after a certain point. It feels like they took alot of Mr. Lyons business model and use that for pricing rather than a sole entity with their own margins. The service makes up for it, the ambiance makes up for it. The crowd makes up for it. Far less wrinkled and aging snowbirds and retirees circling the drain in their waning days. People dressing up and celebrating, genuine convivialness abounds with most guests. It's not somewhere else trying bring that vibe here, it's pretty authentic. It's separate from nextdoor other than shared bathrooms, so don't be surprised when you feel like your in a different world. Most people who wander between the 2 take pause and awe for a few seconds before their mood shifts to match the room. Not a place to get sloppy and party that way unless it's a closed event. It's a great, classic PS lounge for when you have 2 groups of friends who you can entertain, the steakhouse crowd for dinner and the loungers beforehand. Sunsets on the patio under the string lights and couches is rich backyard summertime vibez.
