Fantastic spot! The staff was so friendly and the food was delicious. We had: loco moco, corned beef hash Benedict and macadamia nut pancakes.

We originally stopped by Alpaca Coffee but found out they don't serve breakfast. Luckily, Mile High Cafe shares the same space so we decided to give it a try and ended up dining here twice during our trip. It's super convenient just a quick 4 minute walk from our Airbnb. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating and the space is clean, relaxed, and welcoming. The menu has a little something for everyone but what stood out to me was the subtle Asian influence. The owner is Korean, and you can definitely see that touch in some of the offerings. We even bought her homemade kimchi which was a nice surprise. It looks like they also offer kimchi making classes which is unique and not something you see at your typical breakfast spot. Service was friendly, the vibe was easygoing, and overall it felt like a refreshing change from the usual mountain town breakfast places. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Idyllwild.

I am truly delighted every time I visit Mile High Cafe, which is hands-down one of my favorite spots in Idyllwild! It is (conveniently) located right next to Alpaca Coffee and my usual flow is to grab a bite to eat at Mile High then walk on over to Alpaca to grab a chaggaccino to go. I've tried many of the menu options, which include both brunch/lunch classics, as well as a few Korean fusion dishes. I HIGHLY recommend the chicken on fire, the tuna melt, the kimchi Bloody Mary, and the teriyaki tofu. This time around, I gave the beef bulgogi with fried rice a try and it was SO delicious. I loved the flavor of the marinated beef, which flowed harmoniously with the pan fried glass noodles. I also ordered a side of the house made kimchi, which complimented the flavors of the beef bulgogi as well. This is a 5-star kinda spot! The only downside I experienced this time around was the timing of our meals coming it. We waited around 50 minutes, which is pretty unusual, as all other times I've visited, orders have come out pretty quick. I assume there must've been some understaffing in the kitchen. No biggie, I'm not mad about it. Anyways, I HIGHLY recommend Mile High Cafe to any folks looking for a solid spot in Idy for some great food, impeccable vibes, and an overall wonderful experience!

Kimchi butter fried rice & Korean bbq Galbi

I came in for the Korean BBQ Galbi & it did not disappoint. The Asian fusion breakfast is a VIBE. My fiancè tried their bulgogi breakfast burrito & I had a bite of it. It was absolutely delicious. The potatoes that come with it were nice, crispy & flavorful. Best potatoes I've had on the mountain. Back to my Galbi dish. Since I came in after 11am, I had the option to do lunch & I went with the fried rice side. The additional option of having your fried rice cooked in butter and homemade kimchi is absolutely worth it. The Galbi is served in a cast iron sizzling plate. The meat itself was so tender & delicious. What an experience! And now to the Service. Everyone who works here is so happy & extremely kind. We were greeted with smiles & they were always checking on us. Wonderful food, wonderful service.

I had the country fried steak and had to put my fork down and take a picture after the first bite! I consider myself a Country fried steak connoisseur and oh man Delicious flavor, crunchy, juicy and delicious homemade gravy. You can tell this restaurant works because the owner is present and her hands everywhere. From making sure the wood fire stove was maintained to having the chef remake my husband's sausage before it left the kitchen because she said it was too dry. Amazing Victoria is an amazing server, took excellent care of us, giving great recommendations and keeping our coffee full Will definitely be back

Excellent brunch! We would happily come back here again and again. The staff is super friendly and the service was very good. The menu is much more creative than one would expect from a mountain town diner/cafe and it was delicious! Not a lot of restaurants in Idyllwild but as long as Mile High is operating, I'd be happy to come and spend some time here. Alpaca coffee is co-located in the same space and you can get drinks from their counter to enjoy with your meal.

Chicken dumpling soup & yaki soba with bulgogi

The food is amazing. Seriously. I was skeptical about the mash up of American and Asian breakfast and lunch?? But I am impressed. And there's something for everybody. Real food, real people, good vibes. Will be back as soon as I can!

Great vibe with yummy food and a cafe next door! I loved the outdoor seating area that was perfect for littles.

Another one of our regular spots when we are in Idyllwild. This place offers and satisfy my Asian palate and any item on the menu is always so mouth watering delicious! Service is wonderful and friendly and the vibe is so chill! They have boba shop attached to them and I would just love to chill and eat and drink boba here!

we were greeted immediately and seated fairly quickly. every one of the servers was so nice and attentive. i got the scallion pancakes - so good! the rest of my party got the california omelette (really, really tasty!), the corned beef hash (also 10/10), and the breakfast platter with french toast (so good!). the place is really cute inside and attached to a great little coffee shop as well.

Definitely great food. Ambiance is cozy! I'd say the only part that's lacking is in service, and by that I don't mean the servers, they're great. It's from management. They don't have more staff then they overwork their servers and you can tell the lead Asian lady gets upset and its not the servers fault for running around like crazy. Anyway, that said, the coffee shop next to it is worth the visit.

Interior décor and beautiful views of the trees and sky.

We've been coming to Idyllwild for 60+ years (100 as a family) and we've seen restaurants great and small come and go. Tommy's right now is one of the top three, ironically as it is takeout dinners with the occasional holiday brunch. This Sunday on Memorial Day weekend we ordered the Roast Lamb special ($24), a robust herbed port wine jus three slices, which came with a dense square of scalloped potatoes au gratin, buttered peas and glazed carrots--with excellent broccoli cheddar soup with croutons--and a white dark chocolate mousse that was the perfect light dessert (I couldn't believe I ate it all). We're having leftovers for lunch or dinner today. What Tommy's gives is way over price value but it's his European culinary technique that elevates the food, even when doing crispy fried chicken with biscuits and gravy. The menu is set, one dish a day, though some occasionally come with vegetarian options. As a bonus, son James bakes excellent French bread--we bought a sun-dried tomato one which was terrific dipped in olive oil. Best of all, for us, Tommy's allows us to not fill the best hours of the evening with cooking and prep. We can sit out on our deck and enjoy the mountains. I'm a food writer among other things (finalist, Best Restaurant Feature, 2015, City & Regional Magazine Association) and author of The French House.

Ran across Tommy's Kitchen online and gave it a try. Tommy was very friendly online and we ordered for 4 a little late but he accommodated. Did not know what to expect as we had never ordered to reheat later. Luckily my camp grill can double as a simple oven. We were AMAZED at the food quality and taste. Days later I still find myself thinking of the food. Every item of this feast was beyond what we expected. The dessert was the finale. Anyone staying up there in a BnB or camping and have access to an oven should seriously consider ordering from them. Check out their website it only adds to the reasons to support them. Photos show the quality after heating. Missing is the best apple streudel (apfelstrufel with calvados vanilla sauce) I've ever eaten. Was too busy enjoying it to take a pic. Also missing is the awesome roasted cauliflower and butternut squash soup.

It's a GOLD mine! The service and friendliness is second to none! Delightful. I was just gonna try a couple of à la carte breakfast items to save money, BUT I was quickly "flipped" to a full meal package (much to my chagrin) and with tax and tip over $21! Well, that's a little pricey for a senior on a budget. I hate to say this, but when I'm traveling on a highway (and there's almost no alternative) Denny's does this right with their "senior menu" offerings at half this price! And that's kind of a grand slam. I make the same mistake frequently and I'm not even a big fan of eggs, but I didn't have much choice other than the veggie burger. I decided on scrambled eggs with hashbrowns and the veggie sausage from MorningStar brand (which origin is rooted in the vegetarian friendly Seventh-day Adventist Church.) My side dish was a generous portion of sliced avocado, nicely plated. To me, this spot was kind of like a "SYSCO" food depot. (If you know what I mean). The standard fair for many cafés. But, the service is very warm, old school charm where everybody chats with you to make sure you're doing OK and comes by and taps your shoulder or gives you a little back rub in passing. Not Harvey Weinstein weird but rather kind, friendly, vibes. I was transported to the set of "Andy of Mayberry" just wondering when Aunt Bea was gonna bring out the apple pie! Next time I'll try a veggie burger because it's a comfortable spot and the people are so damn friendly! Wait a second, is that Floyd the Barber, Goober the Mechanic, Otis on a bender? Oh no, I have to run! I see Barney giving me a ticket! Shazam, Shazam!

The restaurant is always clean, organized, and welcoming, and the restrooms are spotless as well. I ordered the chilaquiles with steak and chose the red sauce. I can usually handle spicy food, but this dish definitely had a nice kick to it. Everything tasted fresh, especially the microgreens, onions, and black beans. I also added two eggs over medium, which were cooked perfectly. The steak had good flavor overall, but mine was cooked more well-done than I would have preferred. I wasn't asked for a preferred temperature, so I'm not sure if that's an option. The ribeye is also sliced very thin, which may contribute to it cooking through more quickly. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be serving this dish on a flat plate rather than in a bowl. The bowl made it a little challenging to cut the steak comfortably, whereas a flat plate would make it easier to enjoy. Overall, the food was delicious, the restaurant is consistently well-maintained, and the experience was excellent. Looking forward to our next visit
