    Gumball Machine!
    Cassie J.

Wow! I love this gem of a shop. Service was welcoming and kind, felt very at home. Prices are great and ended up with so much more than I thought I'd leave with. Best part was the sweet little gumball machine you get to play for some extra goodies. I can't wait to go back! Thank you!!!

Thanks to Google search I found the correct address in midtown. * I suggested an edit for the business and the address on Yelp is now up to date. I came to Crystal Cove in search of rings, bracelets, and earrings. I have enough crystals in other forms to sink a ship, but it's always nice to browse. I was greeted by the lady behind the counter. She did some small talk asking me about how my holiday season was. Then she gave too much information about her and her family. She said I was free to look around and to let her know if I needed any help. She gave me a tiny wicker basket for shopping. The place is very small and it is packed with glass shelves so I had to be mindful of how I moved around the store. There were signs letting you know that you were being watched and to "Smile". I get it, tiny items can easily be shoplifted, but the cameras kind of take away the zen feeling. I found a case with a few trays of rings that I wanted to look at and try on. I asked the employee for help. At that time there were at least two other shoppers in the store and it was getting a bit packed. So I took the tray to the main counter thinking that way I would have more space to try on the rings and she could keep a closer eye on the other customers. She told me no. So she and I huddled next to each other as I tried on rings under her watchful eye. It felt very awkward. I quickly chose a ring, paid, and left. While I was checking out she again asked me how my holiday was. She also made a negative comment about the city of Reno. I don't plan on returning. I can find crystal jewelry and the farmers market and while I am traveling.

A good friend who is practicing witchcraft introduced me to this store and it was more than I expected. Not only does it sell various witch items, but it also sells nontoxic, zero waste products like soaps, lotions etc. And many of them support other small businesses. My favorite part is the gum ball machine that had small tarot cards inside. While I'm not well versed in this, the owner kindly explained the meaning and it was rather accurate to me at the time. So even if witchcraft isn't something I practice, I had a taste about a different culture by being here and browsing the unique items!

This tiny shop is worth a quick stop if you are in this corner of Midtown even if you are not super witchy. The shop keepers were super friendly and welcoming! There were 3 things that stood out to me about this little shop. 1) I was surprised to find a pretty decent selection of eco-conscious bath and home products, including Stasher Bags in various sizes and colors. 2) There is a TerraCycle recycle box for difficult to recycle containers (like makeup). I wish these were available at more businesses! These recycle boxes are not free to the businesses that have them, so keep that in mind. 3) Griselda, the Tarot card gum-ball machine! 50 cents will get you the cutest miniature tarot reading. There is a handy book next to the tarot-ball machine so that you can interpret your card. In addition to my favorite things above, Coyote Supply Co also has spiritual incense and candles, eco-conscious cleaning products, health and beauty products, and small gifts like cards, pins, and stickers.

This is an off shoot of the Berkley Psychic Institute…read more Several Yelp reviews of BPI offer appropriate warnings made by students and community members that detect and reject typical cult like abuses in organizations that could be benevolent if they stick to teaching tools with virtue instead of the vices they use to manipulate people. At Reno Psychic Institute, it's as if their food is negativity, gossiping, insecurity, gaslighting, double-speak, invalidation, degradation, manipulation, and strife stoking. I choose to live in joy, free thinking, beauty, love, and respect with my time, money, and energy which wasn't well received there. They push people to live in fear, insecurity, and play small Everyone is psychic and can develop intuition. It's science and tools to organize energy work but only if you use them in benevolent ways energized by elevated feelings loving and respecting yourself and others towards what you choose to create. My first teacher, and 3 classes here with her were positive, respectful, and fun. The next teachers revealed terrible ethics, spending all class with insecure, toxic students insulting and making fun of people that come in for readings and other students. After a month of this getting worse, not better, with increasing gaslighting for asking they implement a code of conduct (they have none), I took my $250/month business elsewhere. The only code of conduct they demand students sign says students pay for any legal actions and cannot fraternize with others or take other spiritual classes without permission. No code of conduct on respecting people or confidentiality of readings or no name calling (it's unreal adults need to be told not to name call in a school. But, they couldn't and wouldn't stop.) This group of people give extremely negative interpretations of life to breed insecurity, manipulate control over people, and to sell more classes and readings. They say the most toxic absurd things to justify abuse and blame others, rolling eyes at people, name calling, and then saying people cause the abuse themselves "psychically." It's not a healthy sign when people use the same predatory blame shifting that child abusers, rapists and murderers say. From a comedy lens, it's funny like the show "The Good Place" where evil acts like good. But, it's also extremely harmful to children, women, and people who are abuse/trauma survivors vulnerable to further abuse that places like this seek to capitalize on. Have the confidence to tell manipulators, gaslighters, and abusers to fork off. That's the best psychic development tip to start with! Other schools teach the Berkley Psychic Institute tools better with empowerment, laughter, joy, love, respect, and beauty. It's funny and creepy that anytime I shared about love, service, ethics, beauty, and having fun in my psychic life with learning, I got either blank stares, disapproval, or angry eye rolls from the majority of people in that place. "The Good Place."

(You can find their class schedule on the web and I would definitely say that is worth a look-see!) There is parking right in front of the store and it is just off S Virginia St, easy to find. The reason for the three stars has to do with inventory. This is not a large shop so one has to consider space available for merchandise. However, there was not much of a selection and the prices were fairly high. I realize that it is becoming harder to run a brick and mortar store front everyday, but I found the merchandise to be "stale" and dated. (ie: no latest tarot decks, books, etc.) I also felt like if I were to return in a month or so, it would look much as it did the day I visited, with the same merchandise in the same place. It may be that "Mystic Rose" concentrates more on the classes and readings and such, but that's not why I came. I miss the well-stocked metaphysical shops of the past and would love to see a sample tarot deck or book before I purchase it... I guess those days are gone.

I ended up just leaving with around 30 minutes still to spare before closing with a lot I still wanted to look at because of how deliberate her "get out" attitude was. I would have much rather her tell me she's already closed and to come back another day. But again, it was still WELL before closing, so I didn't understand her attitude. It's a cute little shop and the first time I visited, around a year ago, she was kinder. I personally won't be back because of how awkward and honestly rude this last experience was. If you plan to visit then make sure to come hours before closing for everyone's sake.

Today was my second disappointment. I purchased a crystal that was advertised as "Natural Citrine...Madagascar". When I brought it back to our hotel, my husband who is way more versed than me in crystals informed me it was likely quartz that had been fired on a kiln rather than naturally heated over a very long period of time by natural forces. I called and asked if I could return it without a receipt and was told I could. The woman I spoke with on the phone was very rude when I came into the store. She changed her story and said items were only exchangeable without a receipt. I said I did not know that and would have appreciated it if she had told me that on the phone. She responded, "well now you know". She told me the owner made a one time exception. I'm done. I have spent hundreds of dollars at this store. Not the thousands some spend, but I looked forward to visiting it every time I came to Reno. The lack of honesty about some of the products as well as this woman's blatant rudeness have put an end to my patronage. RIP to my years long relationship with Stone Age Quarry.
