I've been in a few times, but recently dropped in and met the owner, Tom. What a welcoming, knowledgeable man he is! We talked antique bottles, and furniture and it was a great visit in. It's one of those stores that you could sit in a corner and drink tea, smell the good smells, and drink in the good vibes. He's been in business decades, and it's no wonder why. From books, to oils, to herbs, and wellness this shop has most if not all the good stuff you need. Love TMH. Tom, the owner, is very knowledgeable and professional. His selection of quality (many organic) bulk herbs, both whole/chopped herb and powdered. Looking for the standard herbs such as echinacea, astragalus, ginger, calendula, etc., he's got it. Want something more unusual, he probably has it (or he can order it for you). He has tea blends ranging from black and green teas, to herbal teas for immune-boosting, aiding sleep, or detoxing. He has a nice selection of tinctures, capsules, herbal books, aromatherapy section is pretty nice, as well. Don't respect people medical exemptions for a mask thats pointless. I have breathing problems and can not wear a mask and they turn me away because I have a medical exemption. We all know by this point masks are pointless and to turn people away that have legitimate medical exemptions under the no mandate is unreasonable and unjustified. read more

The shop always has a nice selection of products. In this case, I needed more charcoal to burn incense. No one in town has the particular brand I like(Swift-Lite) No problem - I got why I needed. I am looking for caffeine-free tea and a friend suggested this place. They have a nice selection of teas. They seem kind of expensive, but maybe I'm used to supermarket prices. And supermarkets have a poor selection of caffiene-free tea. There's a good selection here. Look at my photo and the top bag is Yogi tea. What you're looking at is 2 ounces at $2.55 an ounce, or $5.10 worth of tea. I got two pots out of half of a tea ball, but this stuff is still pretty expensive. This is my first time buying tea like this so I can't say if it's unusually expensive. The tea was nice. As the name would imply, they also have a nice selection of herbs for sale by the ounce. Plus lots of other health food-type items. I plan on going back and exploring. It's next to Dandelion Deli on Wells Avenue. read more

Seeing as I just started reviewing on Yelp a couple of months ago, this review is another in a long line of reviews that are long overdue. :-) TMH has be my "go to"place for homeopathic remedies for every imaginable ailment for about 6 years. Locally owed & operated, the owner, Tom & all of the people he hires to work in his shop are some o the most down to earth, knowledgeable, helpful people I've ever encountered in a locally owed shop. As an avid tea drinker, I first, went in to TMH to try their sleep tea blend. This friend suggested I add this tea blend to assist as with my insomnia. I learned on this first visit that their sleep tea blend is already whipped up and ready to dispense. However, what impressed me was the fact that the clerk working took the time to ask about the specifics of my insomnia issues, that I was willing to share.Based on that information, she suggested I add 3 additional herbs to the existing blend of the seep tea ingredients to enhance the effects of the tea. Some would be concerned and categorize this "up selling". I in this situation, I don't share that viewpoint. I considered it her way of personalizing the sleep tea blend to meet my individual needs. I also saw a comment that the selection in the store is limited. I prefer quality over quantity, especially with regard to homeopathic products. No, the store does not have the overwhelming number of options as a Whole Foods or a Trader Joe's.However, each of the products featured in the store are all high quality products. What started as a place for me to great organic loose leaf teas has turned into a store that supplies the entire basis for my natural skin, hair and makeup needs, as well. My son told me of a tea that has many healthy attributes. It is made from a fungi, mushroom, that grows on birch trees. It has many good medicinal properties such as slowing the growth of tumors and also helps get rid of kidney stones. After hitting Trader Joe's and a couple other natural grocers, we were advised to check this place out. The store is clean with many apothecary type bottles with herbs and supplements. My tea was weighed and measured by the ounce. The cashier was very knowledgeable about the products and was helpful in answering all my questions. He even threw in a reusable bag for steeping my tea in for free. If you ever need a good natural healthy store for personal needs l would highly recommend this place. read more

Right when you step in to the shop you get a comfortable feeling. It's a small shop but it has a very nice selection of herbs, tinctures, and accessories. The prices are decent and their book selection is great! Some of the books are used and some are new but none the less, they have some of the books I was interested in for cheaper than Amazon! That's always nice to see in local shops and definitely makes me want to buy from them exclusively when it comes to anything related to medicinal herbs. From bottles, pestle and mortars, jugs, books, gourds, to tinctures, herbs, oils, and trinkets this shop has pretty much everything you need for the basics on medicinal herbs. The store clerk seemed a bit shy but was definitely very helpful and more than willing to show me new products that they had in the back stored away. He was honest about some of his books being used and was very cheery and soft spoken which gave off a very comforting and friendly atmosphere. Overall, the store is a great place to begin your herbal education outside of college classes! I highly recommend stopping by here if you are at all interested in any of these things. If not, at least pop by to purchase a nice pestle and mortar for your herbs and spices at a good price 5/5 for sure Update: I looked at other places for the things they sell in this shop and I can confirm that the prices they have in store are MUCH BETTER than other places like Amazon or in any other stores! WOW! How have I gone all this time without ever writing a review of Truckee Meadow Herbs?!? In real life, I sing the praises of this establishment every chance I get. Tom, the owner, and his team are all so incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I've always had truly great experiences here, and particularly want to note the helpful recommendations I received when having some issues that were not responding to allopathic treatment. They also have loose dried teas and herbs sold by weight, so even if you're not into the whole holistic and herbal thing, there might be something of interest for you here. One great example: If you are a tea drinker, it is a real treat to have actual chamomile flowers rather than that chamomile debris in a pre-packaged bag. [This note/disclaimer is specifically to address the concerns and eye rolls of those who dismiss herbal remedies as 'hippy nonsense' and no offense is intended to either camp, though only my fellow pedantic nerds should read beyond this point. I'm reasonably skeptical and science-minded, and have no truck with homeopathic* stuff. Placebos can be a hell of a drug, but I'm strictly interested in herbal remedies as part of a holistic approach to health care. So if you're of a similar mindset, consider availing yourself of all the non-homeopathic, actual herbal options as a compliment or gap-filler to your self-care / healthcare. Or just treat yourself to some lovely loose tea, or pick up some amazing smelling essential oils to make your home or bathtime have a lovely fragrance! *As you word nerds know, a lot of people use the term homeopathic when they mean holistic; I love holistic and herbal approaches when possible.] read more

A locally owned business, so this is good for Reno. But far and away, they know what they're about, and can provide good feedback pertaining to purchases, and needs. They have a good selection of bulk tea, and herbal remedies from several manufacturers including Solaray, and Nature's way. They are the ONLY place I can find Bi Yan Pian; a multi herbal mixture from China, which combats sinus infections very well, especially when combined with Marshmallow Root, an herbal anti-inflammatory. Unfamiliar with the area? they are just one block North of Vassar Way, on your right if going north, in a small plaza. This store sells lots of organic teas in bulk as well as other herbs and supplements and stuff for detoxing and cleansing. They also sell stuff like essential oils and some hygiene/ cosmetic products that are paraben-free. There's also books for sale for people to learn more about using herbs, etc. What I am most excited about is the Dandy Blend they sell there. This is the best coffee substitute that is caffeine-free and contains dandelion root so it's healthy too. It's flavor is rich like coffee and the perfect way for people that love the taste of coffee but don't need or want caffeine. read more
